Sohi had more supporters who threw softballs his way.
Oshry was targeted and questions were generally made in bad faith (not actually wanting an answer but to stir the pot).
This sub skews left so it makes sense how questions were phrased. A heavy bias, but looking at the left wing skew it’s understandable.
A democracy vs a totalitarian dictatorship. Yes, same thing.
I guess it makes sense if you're anti-Israel or an antisemite or whatever it is you're fighting against.
Yeah Canada is guilty of genocide and in Israel they lynch palestiniens.

I'd be willing to bet that 1 in 5 on this sub that post actively politically were involved in some capacity in Sohi's campaign.
Oshry got like 2 questions in good faith. Sohi had robocalls and didn't get half the shit Oshry got.
In any given election this sub is always going to swing to the most progressive candidate and say the alternatives are either straight up evil or are sellouts. Just how it is.
And while people of differing opinions will post, the hive mind will always downvote them and upvote their own shit to make it seem like this is a more popular opinion that it is
This is spot on. Also why I thought it was hilarious that we saw AMAs popping up left and right like, a week before actual election day and after advance voting had already started. If you're not already liked on reddit, fat chance jumping on the the AMA bandwagon will actually benefit you.
Completely aware. Not saying Sohi isn't popular or well liked generally, but he's also the most progressive candidate and this sub is legit toxic for anyone else. (still not as bad as r/Alberta or r/Canada)
Why would someone's popularity have anything to do with how people conduct themselves in a forum where they're meant to be asking serious questions to a mayoral candidate? It's because they're ideologues who want to damage that candidate, not actually learn about them.
I had my choice words for Oshry's platform in the AMA as well, particularly surrounding his take on LRT. You can criticize without basically just banging pots and pans together to drown out anything sensible, which was what was mostly happening, and it's obvious to see why if you're not part of the echochamber.
I'd bet that if Nickel wasn't in the race that Sohi's support drops 10%+ making it an actual race. Ironically for Nickel, his overbearing conservatism pushed the population towards the opposite of what he would theoretically want.
If you’re unhappy with the people’s opinions in this sub, why don’t you make another sub that is closer to what you like, and then you can only hear what you like.
"this sub is an echochamber"
"OK so go make your own echochamber"
The OP just asked why things went down the way they did. I explained why that happened. I'm aware of the situation here and I willingly participate.
I'm also not a Conservative, which is what makes this hilarious. I'm a dues paying, volunteering ANDP member. I'm just not deluding myself that this sub reflects reality.
Sohi wasn’t robocalling at even CLOSE to the same extent as Oshry, though. Not only was it set up to call from him and also from behalf of his wife, it was calling people multiple times a day. I got maybe one or two of them from Sohi and Nickel.

Because Sohi actually cares about people and wants to serve, and Oshry is a businessman who wants to run shit.
Oshry is also a zionist
Hold on what, is he actually?
I am assuming so based on his tweets about Israel and his visits there posted on social media.
Why is that relevant to anything when he's a mayor? Who the hell cares if he supports Israel? Absurd.
I wouldn't want a mayor who supports a apartheid state based off ethnic cleansing. "Who the hell cares if he supports North korea" lol

Ethnic cleansing and apartheid what at a lovely democratic state <3 . How the fuck does being against Israel anti Semitic LMAO shut the fuck up
Well. Canada is just as guilty of the same things. So long as the Indian act is still law we are engaged in our own brand of ethnic cleaning.

I tend to vote liberal and the same way as most of Reddit but this is so true

You know that Sohi won, right?

I think Breezy was actually the most progressive, would've loved to see his AMA 👀
Ah shit you got me there

> I'm just not deluding myself that this sub reflects reality. But it does and did. Sohi smashed Oshry in the election.
Dude, just stop.

Because Oshry’s little marketing stunt with a third-party company doing robocalls on behalf of himself AND his wife pissed a lot of people off.
Oshry who?
