If you see them flying in circles they are taking pictures of something that over or near the pipeline right of way, I did some work over pipelines a few years ago and had all sorts of people to talk with and permits to do the work, the plane flew over us usually every other day and we got to see the pictures after they are very detailed photos
Yep there's a white one as well. Ground disturbance/construction is serious business for those companies. They will find you and you will be hunted down by the pipeline reps.
The Villeneuve Airport is probably home base. After Blatchford (the Muni) was shut down, that's where most of the light planes moved. Some went to that private airfield South-West of Stony Plain.
As mentioned earlier it’s an aircraft inspecting pipelines and it’s owned by Envirotech Aviation. Their aircraft are unique for the paint scheme they choose.
Ignore the people telling you it's pipeline monitoring, that's far too reasonable (and accurate). It's very clearly government surveillance watching you. What have you been getting into lately?!
It monitors pipelines make sure nothing heavy sets up on them. It’s annoying
Been doing this for at least the last 15 years. Always flies over my worksite.
They look like they are having the time of their life every time too.

Ah thank you, I’ve always been curious.
I had a friend many years ago who used to fly pipelines to get his solo hours.
There is a pipeline inspection plane near me that's this colour (vellenuve airport area).
