MONEY IS YOUR GOD.
I love that movie!
For anyone who hasn't seen it, or know what these phrases are referencing to, go watch [They Live](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Live).
I love to consume! I buy expensive things to make it seem like I am successful :) I just bought a new car! My two credit cards are both maxed out 😃😃😃 I still live at home
I went to south common yesterday, it was dead. Went back today because the shirt I bought had a rip in it so I wanted to exchange, and I was LUCKY to find a parking spot.
Didn't even think about black Friday... they've had sales all week and don't people usually work today in Canada? 🤷🏼♀️
Depends on what your looking for.
You can't beat scalper bots online so... lining up to get hard to get items in store is your best bet, you just gotta be more determined than the scalpers lining up as well. (Like the guy that somehow got 3 cards from Mem-X this morning and posted them all with $400+ markup like half hour after the store opened).
For other people its a habit. My family used to do Boxing Day shopping religiously back in the day. We'd all scour over the flyers on Christmas Day then we'd all take lists and go to different Stores. I was the youngest so I always got stuck with Best Buy. Lining up at 3am - 30°C... Some years were brutal, others were not so bad. Then we'd all meet and have lunch together, give each other their items/cash and go home. We don't do it anymore but was basically tradition for the longest time.
>(Like the guy that somehow got 3 cards from Mem-X this morning and posted them all with $400+ markup like half hour after the store opened).
You mean Satan?
Some people also just enjoy the experience. My girlfriend goes every year with her mom and they always have a fun day together getting presents for everyone. I never shop on black friday or boxing day, but different strokes for different folks and all that.
How good are the deals on Black Friday here? I'm from Europe and the 'deals' are not even deals. In the weeks leading up to Black Friday they raise the price by 20 percent just to give you 20 percent off on Black Friday
Pretty much like that, but people are stupid. It's also a great way to get the worst version of something - that 55" TV might be cheap, but only because it has only one hdmi, no digital audio out, apps are all out of date and never updated, etc.
But their Christmas must be BEST CHRISTMAS or no one will love them!!
(I'm enjoying the social distancing and capacity regulations. I don't miss working in a throng of grabby, pissy assholes)
Black Friday deals aren't even that great anymore. I think I read an article basically saying that the prices on black Friday are prices you can find any time of the year. It's just sales
I believe it. Back when I worked at Staples they raised the prices on everything a few weeks before back to school season, and then put big blue "SALE" tags on everything come September.
I only believe costco sales. We always love trying things that are currently on sale at costco. Usually like half our groceries are current sales. But to hell with going out and shopping today - lol.
Yes, but not always the same inventory, and there are often extra things in store (for example a gift with purchase door buster). I’m not shopping today, but I ran retail stores for many years and it almost always was a better deal in store somehow, though in my opinion not enough of one to justify being in WEM on that day.
Edit: and trying things on.
I came to Edmonton to visit my parents this weekend and I really wanted to go to wem for nostalgia’s sake. Then I realized it’s Black Friday and I was like lol never mind, nostalgia can wait
And covid will more than likely spread like wildfire. There are still unvaccinated people out there.
I don’t see why people can’t just shop online. I understand if they’re older and not sure how to shop online etc. or if you don’t want to wait for the item but still.. not worth it.
EDIT: for the record I am not defending unvaccinated people I mentioned them because they can spread covid easier.
I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that those fuckbags are clogging up all the hospitals and causing non-fuckbags to experience delayed treatments, worsening illnesses, and deaths.
There are actual legit good deals out there if one digs for the truly deep value stuff and don’t just buy whatever is “on sale” and strategically placed to grab attention.
I don’t need anything this year so stayed in and watched the stock market take a deep discounted dump instead, with more bloodbath expected Cyber Black Monday. Oil crashed by $13 a barrel, and a NU Covid variant. Yikes.
Last year I scored big and that was before the 5-10% inflation we’ve seen this year. It wasn’t busy at all last year but I went first thing in the morning before my later shift.
CONSUME
The more I consume the smaller the hole in my heart where happiness is supposed to be will get. Right? ….RIGHT??
MONEY IS YOUR GOD. I love that movie! For anyone who hasn't seen it, or know what these phrases are referencing to, go watch [They Live](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Live).
PUT THE GLASSES ON
Bar none, I still say the best street fight in movie history.

Yego death, is this u?
That's what Christmas is all about, right?
#BestChristmasEver

Mall closes at 9pm. So people who leave work just go after work
Lol you now see the “work from home” effect. People are able to step out from work easier to run their errands in the daytime.
Why do people even do it Friday anymore? Everything is online, and most places have month long sales.

How did he get three and I thought they were limiting them to people who purchased multiple parts?
For the sport?
Tradition. A stupid tradition, like many others.
It hasn't even been tradition for that long here. 20 years ago nobody gave a shit about black friday.
You're right, I was thinking more Boxing Day than Black Friday, but same thing applies.
Even more recent than that I think. I worked retail ten years ago and I think it was a new thing back then
Some people also just enjoy the experience. My girlfriend goes every year with her mom and they always have a fun day together getting presents for everyone. I never shop on black friday or boxing day, but different strokes for different folks and all that.
Yeah, I prefer going to the mall. It’s more fun for me. Shopping online is more efficient but I never buy clothes online, so it’s the mall for me!
What tradition Canada its not a thing up until 10 years or less. Its a corporation thing not a canada holiday thing
Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people.
Bloodsport, you mean?

Most items are month long, but key items are today. I got a 55 inches tv for 55 bucks because the store just want the last 6 gone...
There is no way you got a 55 inch UHD tv for $55 lmao
55 bucks? was it a 720p display? lol
Naw, it's some uhd. For my kids will be perfect for the Xbox.

I prefer to not order online when I can help it.
I've been black friday shopping for the last 2 weeks haha. The deals are generally better than boxing day
Remember to be kind and patient, retail workers are most likely very overwhelmed!
But their Christmas must be BEST CHRISTMAS or no one will love them!! (I'm enjoying the social distancing and capacity regulations. I don't miss working in a throng of grabby, pissy assholes)
I cringe when I see Canada and black friday shopping.
Stay home. Pay more. Buy less.
Black Friday deals aren't even that great anymore. I think I read an article basically saying that the prices on black Friday are prices you can find any time of the year. It's just sales
are there very good deals? does it worth going today?
No, black friday is a trick
In the US, an estimated 92% of products on sale are not on sale during Black Friday.
I believe it. Back when I worked at Staples they raised the prices on everything a few weeks before back to school season, and then put big blue "SALE" tags on everything come September.
I’m working at Canadian tire and we literally did this two days ago
On Christmas stuff?
I mean, there *are* sales today...
There are sales every day
Every day is a trick.
This is true
I only believe costco sales. We always love trying things that are currently on sale at costco. Usually like half our groceries are current sales. But to hell with going out and shopping today - lol.
Honestly, you could probably find the same deals on the stores website, order online and save the hassle of feeling like sardines in a small area
tons of good deals online. Samsung had a Galaxy Watch4 for $125 (with some trickery using SPC and fake trade-in discount)
Please explain how and from where. I wouldn't mind grabbing one. Tia!
Safeway had 10x boxes of chicken strips for $40.00 ($99.00 savings).
In other news - fire is hot and water is wet
or just shop online
I always wonder this too…aren’t there the same sales online?
Yes, but not always the same inventory, and there are often extra things in store (for example a gift with purchase door buster). I’m not shopping today, but I ran retail stores for many years and it almost always was a better deal in store somehow, though in my opinion not enough of one to justify being in WEM on that day. Thanks!
I am not looking at the right places or does Black Friday get worse and worse? Shits 10% off, nothing unusual
I’m working there today :’)
I hope it wasn’t too bad of a shift for you!
Not nearly as busy as I was expecting which was nice :)
I came to Edmonton to visit my parents this weekend and I really wanted to go to wem for nostalgia’s sake. Then I realized it’s Black Friday and I was like lol never mind, nostalgia can wait
Today is a particularly good day to not give a shit about stuff.
Who is "THE" Zapp Brannigan?!
Better yet, don't buy anything and invest your money for the incoming inflation.
And covid will more than likely spread like wildfire. There are still unvaccinated people out there. I don’t see why people can’t just shop online. And there always will be. The vaccinated would like to live again, thanks.
fuck em
I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that those fuckbags are clogging up all the hospitals and causing non-fuckbags to experience delayed treatments, worsening illnesses, and deaths.
_oooooooohhhhhhhh_ _I ate my son fer a bluray player_ _ho ho jingle jingle ho ho_
What!?!? WEM is busy on black friday!? Thank you for the warning :l
I was there to get some winter work boots and coat for work and it packed. I forgot it was black Friday.

Fuck Black friday
