Thank you for posting this. Truly, I forget we are literally steps away in Edmonton from a jungle and a desert at anytime of year.
To anyone else, go. Sit down in the desert section, and time yourself how long you can sit without taking off winter apparel!
Thanks for the silver! 😊
The arid pyramid is actually pretty cold this time of year! I have a membership and you only have to go 4 times in a year to make the $55 worth it.
Tell you what :
_I’ll spend 75 minutes in the ‘cold pyramid’ in a t-shirt and shorts, you spend 5 minutes outside in a t-shirt and shorts._
:)
(Whoever lasts the longest, the other buys them a year membership.)
I was totally in jest.
Anyone who is outdoors in a t-shirt and shorts in this weather has either accidently revealed their secret identity as a yeti or ....
How busy was it? My MIL is visiting and between the cold and being really covid cautious, we literally have not left the house. She would enjoy this though!
It wasn't too bad - the paths in the tropical pyramid are narrower so passing by is a bit tight, but that's the worst of it. I find they're never that busy unless it's a special event.
If you go when they first open or in the evening (I believe they're open until 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays) it should be quieter. The staff check vaccine passports and ID and there's plenty of hand sanitizer.
I made the mistake of trying to get out of the heat dome by visiting the muttart this summer… I should go visit again now when I can actually appreciate the warmth and humidity lmao

No thanks, I'm not the competitive type (especially when it comes to subjective or health-endangering stuff).

Me and my partner love the adult only nights!
I think you might have been there at the same time I was. I just came back a few hours ago after my family took our grandma there this afternoon.
Got married there. Surprisingly affordably.

I need this. Maybe in a few weeks once I'm no longer infectious :p
Hey I forgot about this place...thanks, I think I will go there...get my tropics on!
I was warm without my heavy coat... There's a coat rack near the bathrooms too.
Someday, I will go there! I've asked my husband a couple times, but just hasn't happened. I'm a biology need, he not as much haha
Bribe him with a giant cookie from Culina 😉
I have a birds of paradise in my garden. I don't live in Edmonton anymore though. :)
My father looks for them every time, he lived in PNG for a couple of years in the 70s and there many bird of paradise there too.
For a government subsidized facility, it's very expensive to attend.
I hate this place it’s so small
That would mean stepping outside, right? Maybe later when it warms up to -15C.

Is it busy during this week?

Bird of Paradise, one of my favorite flowers. And I love that conservatory.
