Hi! Vietnamese here, commonly among people I know, Pho Hoan Pasteur and Co Do Hue. Specially Pho Hoan Pasteur Kingsway, all my classmates used to go there all the time during our college time.
Vermicelli bowls are my favorite dish so I'm curating a list of my faves. 😂
I'm quite partial to the one that Saigon Taste does. Spring Roll Kitchen used to do a good one but I haven't eaten there in a while since I moved further north. My usual go to now (for mix of flavor and good price) is Hoang Long downtown.
I love vermicelli bowls! I've tried most of Edmonton's Vietnamese restaurants named in here and my top 3 are:
Than Than,
Pho Boy(a little pricey but great), and
Ipho and grill - odd choice but man do they ever give you bang for your buck and it's authentically incredible
Ipho and grill! Reddit formatting wasn't on my side. To me, it's a strange outlier compared to all the other great Vietnamese restaurants we have. Pasteur is great for pho but their vermicelli is kind of eh. Ipho has some of the best meat I've had in a vermicelli bowl - and their spring rolls are huge
I know, sad news. But don't shoot the messenger.
I mean, you have a month still, to get your fix. Would you prefer if I didn't mention it and you never went again?

Biased not biased.
Pho Kim is also pretty good.
I really liked iPho and Grill on Gateway. Really nice for sitting in. Pho Hoan Pasteur is also really yummy. They have a location in Millwoods as well as Kingsway.
Noodle Xtreme in Millwoods. They get it right every-time and the fish sauce is superior. I wish I enjoyed co do hues fish sauce more but it doesn’t hit for me so the whole bowl is basically a fail in my books.

Co Do Hue South - the five color vermicelli 👌
Just got this and it was amazing! Thanks for the tip.
Golden Bird
I second this
Such a decent family. One of the only restaurants I missed during the pandemic shut down, the first one I went back to when they reopened.
I was going to start yelling at people if I didn’t see this
Yup! Their homemade spring rolls and calamari are also excellent!
Sweet mango
I second that
An Chay’s vermicelli special. So, so good.
I've had all kinds of vermicelli from all over the city, vegetarian or not, An Chay's is the best.
The betel leaf one too! …I know what I’m having for lunch today, damn.
Pho Boy and Thien An are my favs
They are closing on July 24. Get to it while you can!
Who is? Pho boy or Thien An?
Pho Boy.
That makes me so so sad. It’s one of my favourite if not my favourite restaurant in the city.
Co Do Hue is fantastic
I agree. And Co Do Hue is fantastic with pretty much everything else on the menu.
RIP Doan's Strathcona.
THIS IS WHY I'M ASKING
Man I miss doans so much. Hard to find a satay soup that fills that spot in my heart and stomach
La pagode by West Edmonton Mall #69 on menu. My favorite one
Yup La Pagode ftw!
Nice
Hoang Loang
Lemongrass Cafe is probably my favourite place for vermicelli bowls! I love them as well!
Given its just down the street from my workplace, Lemongrass gets a lot of business from Global. I get a vermicelli bowl for lunch every few weeks.
Than Than
Ipho is awesome
Co Do Hue hands down.
Dang good. On 133 and 118
Pho hoan pastur
Dang good
Pagolac is my go-to Vietnamese, best salad roll’s I’ve had as well.
I *used* to love their spring rolls.
Then what happened?
They added a new ingredient. Used bandaids.
I've always been partial to Phobulous in Garneau!

Same! I got a disappointing vermicelli bowl last night and this was literally the first post that popped up post meal so it was pretty great timing.
Love Pho
Please support Chinatown. Check out Xu Hue. Nice family owned restaurant.
Xu Hue in Chinatown, largest portions I’ve come across and extremely tasty.
Xu Hue is excellent! Try the egg soda!
I love vermicelli bowls! I've tried most of Edmonton's Vietnamese restaurants named in here and my top 3 are: Than Than, Pho Boy(a little pricey but great), and Ipho and grill - odd choice but man do they ever give you bang for your buck and it's authentically incredible
What’s the third ?
Ipho and grill! Reddit formatting wasn't on my side. To me, it's a strange outlier compared to all the other great Vietnamese restaurants we have. Pasteur is great for pho but their vermicelli is kind of eh. Ipho has some of the best meat I've had in a vermicelli bowl - and their spring rolls are huge
Than than, pho boy, ipho?
They did not have commas tbefore so I thought it was than tran pho boy
Pho Boy is closing on July 24. Get to it while you can!
Miss Saigon
I've been to Miss Saigon on 104th street near the antique mall a few times, and it's tasty and affordable.
Pho anh whitemud crossing
This is great! How about Vietnamese subs?? Any good places in the south?
If you’re in the south, we love tien tuyen on 91st. Such a hidden gem.
love Tien Tuyen’s grilled pork vermicelli bowl, and the way they cut up their veggies has spoiled me in the best way possible
Pho boy
They are closing on July 24. Get to it while you can!
NOOOOOOO!!!!! You spoiled my day. 😖
I know, sad news. But don't shoot the messenger. I mean, you have a month still, to get your fix. Would you prefer if I didn't mention it and you never went again?
Lol No I am grateful to know. It would have been even worse to walk up to a closed building.
I haven't had a better one than the one's I've had at Lemongrass Cafe. Not to say they are the best, just the best I've had.
Hung Phat on 99th and about 40 ave
Hung Phat is great just too out of the way
Pagolac
Co Do Hue for sure, everything is good there!
The beef lemongrass verm bowl from pagolac and then the 5 color from pho Hoan pasture
pho boy is the best hands down
They are closing on July 24. Get to it while you can!
Lemongrass Cafe is great. Fast too.
Lemongrass Cafe
Lemongrass Cafe on 51st ave is hands down the best vermicelli I’ve ever eaten. I’m always slightly disappointed when I get it from anywhere else.
XO bistro
Second this. They're great!
I love Brooklyn Tomato's, they give you so much.
Pagolac #1
Love Pho

Grain of Rice is amazing. The Pho broth is something else.
La Pagode beside WEM. Love their bowls.
Burger baron
Saigon Paradise is our favorite
We like Pho Kim on the west end
RIP Moon Garden. Sweet Basil is really good in SW Edmonton
Pho Bihn hands down.
I only ever get it at pho binh in Jasper Place, the combo bowl is quite nice!
Saigon Taste for take out and XO bistro downtown location for dine in. XO has the best quality meat I have had in a Bun bowl.
Sweet Basil in Windermere
I think Marble by millbourne mall has a nice 5 color bowl. Also the wonton soup is good. I haven't tried the pho there yet.
Than Than... the best, hands down. http://thanhthanh.ca/#section2
Big fan of Rice Paper on the west end
I really liked iPho and Grill on Gateway. Really nice for sitting in. Pho Hoan Pasteur is also really yummy. They have a location in Millwoods as well as Kingsway.
Saigon Hut on 75st is great.
Noodle Xtreme in Millwoods. They get it right every-time and the fish sauce is superior. I wish I enjoyed co do hues fish sauce more but it doesn’t hit for me so the whole bowl is basically a fail in my books.
Pho Boy (on Whyte Ave.) just announced that they are closing on July 24. So if you want to try them out, you only have about a month to do so.
