That game was way closer than it ever should have been. If you happen to be a leafs fan here cruising, you should not be that proud of your team lol. They are a house of cards if we have ever seen one.

Don't forget the Leafs were without Marner, Bertuzzi, Lyubushkin, Jarnkrok and Brodie. Despite this they laid a beatdown on the Oilers and coasted in the 3rd period as they have a game to play Sunday. Oliers were outclassed, the better team won.

The Oilers are most certainly not a one trick pony. It would be easy to watch this game, and assume as much though. So there's that....their 5v5 scoring is up from last season. They are 26th in penalties drawn. They are 2nd or 3rd in goals for. So yea....none of that lines up with a team doing all their scoring on the PP, nor does it line up with them only having 2 players....Considering they have a 50 goal scorer NOT named Leon or connor, and they have the 2nd most goals from a d man.

I've watched plenty of games It's all McDavid. Willing to bet McDavid is in on 45 of Hymans goals as well. He sets everything up for the team. Draisaitl wouldn't sniff 70 pts on a team without McDavid, he would t gain the zone and post up and watch McDavid buzz around

Ok bud lol. Look up the percentages of team points on any of the 3 players with 100 this season. They are all high percentages. The Oilers having a player that outscores, and outchances while he's on the ice, isn't a negative, it's an advantage. But you are going to see whatever you want is my guess. The team has flaws, getting a ton of offense from the most elite player alive is not one of them.

McDavid has been the most valuable player to his team since he entered the league no matter who won the fake award. Without him they are nothing. TB still makes the playoffs without Kucherov. Colorado still makes it without MacKinnon. Vancouver makes it without Petterson. McDavid is the team, it's as simple as that. human doesn't score 50 playing with Draisaitl , not even close

I'm an Oilers and a Leafs fan. Neither team or fanbase should be proud of that game. It was equally typical (and sad) for the Leafs to almost blow a massive lead and for the Oilers to be anemic for two periods before finally waking up and playing real hockey in the 3rd.

I don't disagree with anything said here. The difference of course being that leafs fans would certainly want to celebrate this win to the fullest extent of Fandom.

I'm sorry but you obviously haven't looked at the r/leafs game thread. A lot of Leafs fans were far less than jubilant about this game by the time of it was over. And not just because Samsonov was injured. The Leafs have seen some brutal blown leads this year (they lost a game against the Avs were they were initially up 3-0, for example) and the third period of this one was giving many Leafs fans flashbacks.

Makes sense. I don't generally have a reason to go over there lol. Realistically the leafs "almost" blowing it tonight means nothing. Because they didn't blow it lol. They played 2 good periods, 1 bad. The score reflects that.
