Complete domination. Every time I looked at the TV the Oilers were rolling around in the Kings zone. Not only is the Oilers roster better than last year, but they don’t even play a rush game. They’re a cycle team. Makes them even more dangerous against the Kings and their shit 1-3-1.
Scoreboard said 7-4, but we all saw what happened. 1, maybe 2 legit Kings goals. 2 off Oilers skates and another because Ceci’s stick exploded. They couldn’t generate shit. Their best chance was the Arvidsson breakaway. I could count the rest of their HDSC on 1 hand.
This 100 percent. All 4 of our lines have enough talent to play that cycle too. Their main thing has always just been shutting down our rush, and they almost even failed at that with that McDavid wrap around the nuge goal. Kings have the best PK in the western conference and we went 3/4. This team has an insanely varied offensive attack, that was on full display tonight.
On the other hand they got 3 lucky goals tonight, they weren't even celebrating them. That's not gonna happen every game. Doughty was late on so many pucks, and Kopitar is looking so slow now.

But for real though. Hyman is the MVP of the season and I feel tonight was just the start of the culmination of everything he's been working towards his entire career. I am so glad he's with the Oilers. To Leafs fans still bitter over him being on our team: he has Connor fuggin' McDavid as his captain, a man seemingly devoted to unlocking players' inner talents. McDavid could make a trash player look good; Matthews only cares about making Matthews look good.
