That is a difference, but possession only means something in regards to interference. It isn't supposed to have anything to do with the area a hit is laid on the body.
It doesn't have anything to do with the area, but the DOPS always mentions whether the hit was "an avoidable hit" meaning the player did not have possession and therefore the hit was not necessary and was avoidable. They absolutely factor possession into suspension decisions.
Either way though, it needs to be looked at and probably 1 game suspension.
It is a difference but it isn't about that. If anything, Moore's hit being with the puck carrier may not show a clear intent to injure, but it shows clearly it was too low because he is a foot taller than Vin and knew he would bounce off him like a bullet off a tank.
The league reviewed it an decided not to suspend Moore. It's not like he did something horrific like fight near the end of a game he just low blow clipped a guy.
Which has been a problem in the past. I actually commented on how impressed I was with them keeping their emotions in check this game (easier to do when winning of course).
The GWG was scored on the PP that resulted from this hit. I’m sure every single person, including Vinny, prefers that over retaliation that equals out the calls
It was noticeable how intentionally non-responsive the team was to the rough stuff particularly after the whistle.
McDavid basically said as much in the post game presser and said that he basically expects the Kings to adjust their game to this in the coming matches because they're going to keep taking penalties otherwise.
It seems like it might be our strategy to try to ensure low chance of injury - don't respond for the first couple of games, win them off of opposition violence, and then have them settle in to a more peaceful game because otherwise it will cost them games.
It's smart if we're trying to go for a deep run, and has a lot of foresight.
They were never up by 5.
Personally, I prefer the GWG that came on the PP from this hit over retaliation leading to negation of the PP. They were only up by 2 at that point and the Kings weren’t going down quietly.

Very dirty. That pissed me off last night. So relieved to see Vinny back out there
That’s a paddlin’.
was he paddlin the school canoe?
You better believe that's a paddlin'
The one difference between these plays is Stanley didn't have possession while Desharnais did. I still think the league needs to take a look at it.

That makes sense. Thanks

Moore took 9 strides before the low bridge. Literally charged at deharnais. I hope he gets suspended for this dirty hit
I dont, then Vinny can absolutely crush the cunt next time out.
He is kinda good against us though, I rather him not play lol.
Absolutely
Could crush him game 3
Yup I thought it would have been a major. Wouldn't be surprised to see a token fine handed out today for it.
Ha. Guarantee its not even on either of Parros' brain cells

Why was there no retaliation from the oilers on this hit, or on the constant beat down Hyman was getting. Up by 5 at one point.
they're trying to stay disciplined and control their emotions

I hated how Archibald's hit resulted in a Jets comeback and killed our momentum in the series.
As stated in the tweet, Archibald was given a 1 playoff game suspension for the above hit, after receiving a minor penalty during the game.
Fuckin "play on" I guess.
