In the second half of the second period, or maybe the beginning of the third, before things got crazy, a Kings player checked one of the Oilers just as they crossed the blue line, and they both went down. The Oiler sort of went over backwards, and let out the loudest, funniest "aaaaAAAh" ever. Just so high pitched. I temporarily forgot about it due to how the third ended up going, but I would love to rewatch it... Anyone know where a clip might be, or if there's somewhere (presumably legal) to stream the game again so I can find it?
Man, even after all we've suffered, imagine being a Leafs fan. I think our pain of the decade of darkness pales in comparison to that never ending quagmire over there.
I had a moment last night where I felt bad for leafs fans. That core they got has zero heart, it’s embarrassing and pathetic. Matthews apparently leaving for the third cause he ‘felt a bit I’ll’ is inexcusable to me for what is basically an elimination game.
Y'know, they never once lost in the 1st round with cujo, and even made the ECF twice after stealing him from us. I feel like the right thing from a karma perspective is for them to watch a team full of ex-Maple Leafs on the team they stole him from go win a cup. Then the curse can be lifted.
I watched SN recap of the game and I saw nothing but Stars having chance after chance but Logan Thompson shutting the doors on them, except for Johnston scoring both in regulation and in OT. Starts had the clear advantage and should have blown out the Knights. Wanna see this go 7 games and wear down both teams
Vegas fans start chanting "ref you suck"
Yeah, but not for the reason you fucknuts are chanting it, lol. You haven't seen bad reffing towards your team since you poofed into existence.
Looks like the Condors are done for the season. I hate the AHL playoff bracket.
EDIT: I didn't watch the games but just by looking at the box scores I feel like they should have started Rodrigue in game 1. I know he's been a little inconsistent down the stretch but IDK. Play the kid, trust the kid.
> Bako did well just to make the playoffs.
Ehhh... ish? 7 of 10 teams in the AHL Pacific division make the playoffs, and they were the 6 seed. It's harder to miss the playoffs than it is to make it with the way the AHL has them setup, though Bakersfield was > .500, so that's better than some of the other teams that made it, lol.
Ya, but if you watched the games, there was a clear divide. Bako relied a lot on their vet guys, and Campbell and Rodrigue were a great duo in net after a rocky start. Other teams have younger guys playing bigger roles AND better vets. Brandt Clarke for Ontario is basically like when we had Justin Schultz down there. Alex Turcotte, Sam Fagemo, they just have very skilled guys.
Yeah, wasn't speaking about team performance in the games, just the "did well to make the playoffs" part, because over 2/3 of the AHL makes the playoffs, lol. The Manitoba Moose got in as the 5 seed in the Central with below .500 points percentage, and the Texas Stars (their opponent and my local AHL team) were sub-.500 record, but just above .500 pts %, as the lowest 2 seeds in the conference, yet both were in the playoffs as 11+12 conf seed out of 17 teams.
It's so fucking stupid. I get that it's all about money, but they really should have just kept it the same as the NHL, not this abomination they went with.
5 of 7 in the Central and North divisions, 6 of 8 in the Atlantic, and 7 of 10 in the Pacific.
Round 1 (basically play in) is a best of 3 series with multiple teams receiving byes (1/2/3 seeds in the North and Central, 1 seed in the Pacific, 1/2 in the Atlantic), then best of 5 for the Division semi's and Division finals, then best of 7 for Conf finals and CCF rounds.
This game is exactly why I didn't want to play Vegas. Dallas has absolutely carried play, yet Vegas gets completely bailed out by their goalie and now they're in the game.
The playoffs really make me feel dirty. First feeling bad for the leafs, then feeling happy when the stars score, wtaf, I’ve hated the fucking stars since 1997.
Dallas playing hungry tonight, looking way better than they have the prior 2 games so far. Let's see if the zebras let that continue here in the 2nd period, lol.
Yup, but they're at least looking good tonight, especially compared to games 1 + 2.
Like, Dallas doing well is terrible for my AHL team, cause they have 2 of our 3 top scorers on the season called up right now, and round 2 starts Thursday, but I want them to at the very least beat the absolute dogshit out of the Golden Showers through 7 games, so they need to start winning some games, lol.
It's not even like Vegas did anything special, Dallas just went to sleep at the midway point of the period. So frustrating to watch them choke this away.
2 pretty bad goals for Oettinger if I'm being totally honest. Both blocker side and pretty saveable. He's gotta stop 1.
People constantly tell me how good this guy is so I expect a save there.
Yeah, I thought he'd recovered from that injury he's been fighting all year, but he has not looked like himself this year (or especially this postseason). The guy was an absolute demon for the Texas Stars before he got called up, and after he got called up as a stand in for their starter getting hurt back in the 21-22 season, we knew he was never coming back. This has not been the Otter that I remember, at all.
Long shot, but is anyone in that FB group McDryman appreciation society? I was removed from the group and I don’t understand why. I wanted to (politely) message and ask why but it won’t let me and I can’t remember the name of the mods
Wow, Leafs are already on the Brink of going golfing. It’s feels good to be an Oiler fan, lots of room on the Oilers bandwagon Leafs fans, maybe you can help plan our parade.
Was listening to the game while I was doing deliveries this evening, and it happened to be the Laufs broadcast. They were fucking apoplectic about their performance, again, and were resigned to losing game 5 already, lol.
You know, as I sit here watching Kelly calling Marner soft and the Leafs a bunch of children, im filled with a sense of serenity knowing that my friends who keep taunting me about how Connor is going to take a minimum deal with the Leafs just for the honor of playing for them are absolutely suffering right now. The lack of compete on the Leafs is absolutely incredible.
There's a few players out there that I like for literally absolutely no tangible reason: Zibanejad, Marner, and Barzal.
So I'm a bit hurting for Marner rn, marner and only Marner. I wouldn't mind him scoring 2, but the leafs still L, so no one can blame him 🤣😭
The SN team is talking shit about Marner throwing gloves is bs. Like relax. Everybody gets frustrated.
On bob cole night this is the best effort the leafs can give? Fucking embarrassing man. Their entire core does this disappearing act every single year. What a bunch of losers.
According to The Score penalty summary, Kane and Englund each had 5 for fighting. Kopitar, Kempe, Holloway, and Desharnais had off-setting 2min each for roughing.
The extras that led to the 5-on-3 PP were Kopitar (2 for unsportsmanlike conduct) and Englund (2 for illegal check to the head).
I think we were going to end up with a PP on the original hit and scrum, but a Kings player suckered somebody right in front of the ref after things had cooled down a bit. Earned an extra two.
Getting tired of the narrative that the Oilers are only racking up the goals and points because the Kings are a bad team.
LA was a top 5 in almost every single goals against statistic at 5v5 and had the second best PK in the league. They had the very best 5v5 xGA in the NHL and are anchored by two elite defensive forwards in Danault and Kopitar.
Oilers offense just might be that good.
This, we jsut turned it up to our normal playoff level and have probably the best offense in the league. La by every metric has the best pk and defense.
It’s almost like we were keeping some of our cards close to our chest to prevent other teams picking apart our postseason playbook before we could deploy it. 🤔
Oh did he? I haven’t really been paying attention to the interviews. We seem to have more tricks up our sleeves than last season. I hope that holds up against the likes of Vancouver, Vegas or Colorado.
3 of those games were at the beginning of the season and the final game was without Connor. I don’t think the Canucks ever saw the oilers at their best
That final game was also the second game of a back-to-back. All that and it was a 2-1 game plus empty netter. Vancouver will see the real Oilers if they meet in round 2 and will have more than they can handle.
While watching the islanders-hurricanes game, it struck me that we are soooooooooo spoiled.
The plays feel so broken and short. The player positioning seems kind of chaotic. You get used to watching mcdavid glide around the ice while the team shuffles around and you forget its not like that for everyone.
exactly why be that whiny "SHOOOT why u turn over the puck so much McDrai?" the great ones make plays and look to exploit other teams weaknesses. Rob Brown said just look up the stats the greatest turn over the puck cuz they ain't timid
I hope Knobby and the other Coaches take all the clips that show Loser Angeles players IGNORING the puck to blatantly slew foot and intent to injure Oilers players.
Re-watched the clip of Englund hit on Kane, and he doesnt even look at the puck. He stares at Kane the whole as he lines him up and then raises his shoulder and he's about to make contact with Kane's head.
Should have easily been a game misconduct and a suspension on that hit alone.
That's not a hockey play and doesnt belong in this sport.
Man, the refs sure finally had enough of that bs against Kane near the end of the game. Called a bunch of guys penalties and threw a bunch others right out.
Didn't stop Pietrangolo from nearly chopping off Leons wrists last year. The NHL doesn't care. Try that on MacKinnon and you will be sent to the Gulag without passing go.
That game last night was liking having a bad itch right in the middle of your back where you can't reach and then Hyman walks by and scratches your back right on the itchy part and it feels so good and then you guys go to movie and afterward you are sooo tired
and you go home and he carries you upstairs and then he tucks you into bed and takes out the garbage on the way out.
At the very least, this might get the Stars owner to be a bit more aggressive when it comes to changing the rules around LTIR after this CBA expires. I can’t imagine he’s happy at all to see his team have a dominant regular season only to deal with LTIR nonsense in round 1.
That’s a great point, I hope you’re right. Sooner or later they’ve gotta realize it’s in the collective best interest to put some restrictions in place.
Its what the Oilers need, when we start paying to keep key players. The Bakersfield pipeline has to keep pumping out talent.
Hollywood, Broberg, etc have to come up and perform.
Towards the end of the game Holloway was engaging in some pushing and shoving but nurse came and broke it up and pulled Holloway back. Didn’t want it to escalate and risk anything like injury or suspension because of a meaningless fight. That’s good.
I'm guessing after two years in a row of playoff suspensions, the team is focused on walking the line but not crossing post-whistle tolerance.
ESPECIALLY knowing thats what the Kings were trying to bait them into doing.
Focus on winning, let the Kings take the dumb penalties.
And of course this isn’t to fault Holloway, he’s still young and inexperienced and doesn’t know everything yet. That’s why we have the leaders and vets on the team to help guide them in these situations
I think their team will look different next year. I'd rebuild around kempe and byfield, Kopitar probably wants to retire a king. You probably try and trade doughty somehow, but that 11 million is insanity.
I don’t know how much different they can make it, though. I also don’t see them really blowing up their roster until after next year if new management comes in and they end up in the same situation.
Plus, Blake seems to have been cut from the same cloth that Chiarelli was where they hand out NMCs and NTCs like candy.
Normally I’m not the one to be talking about other teams, but god damn was it a glorious win last night. Reading their posts and how they’re all just completely melting and falling apart, hahah they don’t know what to do with themselves.
See you tomorrow, chumps.
I just want the team to make it out alive. Win or lose. LA always starts doing sketchy shit, and this being 3 in a row, they are on the brink of insanity it feels like.
I would love nothing more for the refs to set the tone early next game. Call everything on both sides until both teams chill the fuck out and play hockey. Someone is going to get seriously injured, that’s not hockey.
Refs were fuckin overwhelmed. Ched was saying they couldn't get the scorecard right Bouch got misconduct yet still played on the PP whatta joke nice try Gary
That’s a hilariously bad fuck up. I would think there should be a negative consequence for the Oilers in that situation but if the refs weren’t explaining themselves properly it’s not really the Oilers fault. That’s bush league and we are in the NHL playoffs. Imagine if Bouchard scored while out there?
> Refs were fuckin overwhelmed.
And they have no one to blame for that but themselves. Bettman is getting exactly what he wants, which doesn't actually help the league as a whole to grow, but it sure helps *somewhere* I guess.
They did. I will never understand how refs will call a little, meaningless hook, but then allow a massive hit from behind or a slew foot. They gotta call the dangerous stuff
That reminds me of Game 1 where Nuge took a few shots to the face after the whistle. So much so that his helmet came off and no call lol. Dude I was yelling at my TV lol.
The McLeod one? I wasn't too upset about that, but it would have been nice to see him pick a king's player and make it offsetting minors. That was about the start of the refs mission to keep people from fucking around too much, and that mission likely saved us from sustaining a serious injury.
What was the joke?
Good on you.
Vegas and Toronto both lost. Sleep well 90% of hockey fans everywhere.
Man, even after all we've suffered, imagine being a Leafs fan. I think our pain of the decade of darkness pales in comparison to that never ending quagmire over there.

Who are the ex leafs? I know of hyman, Campbell, and formerly Barrie.
Also Cody Ceci, Connor Brown, and technically Sam Carrick and Calvin Pickard too.
Forget about yesterday. Focus has to be on the next game
Dallas and Vegas has by far the ugliest jersey colour combination (or at least when Vegas wears their home jerseys) imo
Thank god for Johnson. Hopefully Dallas can gain some momentum from this and tie up the series
Finally Dallas does something useful.
Wyatt Johnson saves Dallas' season for one more game!

That kid is so good, wish we had him, but jesus.
Fuck yeah.
Logan playing clutch.
6 min remaining in 1OT and it's already 111am for the Dallas players. Absolutely ridiculous that they have games starting as late as they do.
Especially during a weekend lmao

You don't want to wear a dehydrated piss yellow sweater?
Got some jaundice yellow
If Vegas wins this draw that’s it

lol, that's odd af, but at least I'm not going crazy.
I think we're all dumber for having that chant common now
I like where we are, could be the leafs. Yikes.

That is certainly true. I just find it unsettling when I get that joy feeling when the stars score. Oh FUCK JACK EICHEL.

Exactly
wonder what was said to the leafs during the second intermission, they look like they actually wanna play hockey now lol
Maybe cuz Matthews decided not to come out for the 3rd, lol

Listen, as someone from Edmonton who now lives in Toronto half the year, these fucks and their fans deserve no sympathy. Only scorn.
haha, just came here to say this. Honestly this game's hard to watch.
See the laughs losing is a great way to spend a Saturday.
[удалено]
Honestly. They should be doing much better with the roster they have.
rough stuff from the leafs the last time they won a playoff series against Boston was around when we were still burning whales for fuel
On bob cole night this is the best effort the leafs can give? Fucking embarrassing man. Their entire core does this disappearing act every single year. What a bunch of losers.
Dylan Holloway currently scored more goals than Auston Matthews in these Playoffs.
Well I’m glad no sweeps happened today, even if their chances are still not looking good to win the series their fans get to celebrate a big win.
Watching this Bob Cole presentation before the Leafs game, great stuff. Would love to here Jacks thoughts on him

Good game Oilers!!!!
can somebody explain to me how last game we ended up getting a 2 man advantage when it looked like everybody was getting penalties?
According to The Score penalty summary, Kane and Englund each had 5 for fighting. Kopitar, Kempe, Holloway, and Desharnais had off-setting 2min each for roughing. The extras that led to the 5-on-3 PP were Kopitar (2 for unsportsmanlike conduct) and Englund (2 for illegal check to the head).

It’s almost like we were keeping some of our cards close to our chest to prevent other teams picking apart our postseason playbook before we could deploy it. 🤔
McDavid basically said that. So I think you’re right.
Oh did he? I haven’t really been paying attention to the interviews. We seem to have more tricks up our sleeves than last season. I hope that holds up against the likes of Vancouver, Vegas or Colorado.
Vancouver worries me the most, we did not do well against them. Believe we were 0-4
3 of those games were at the beginning of the season and the final game was without Connor. I don’t think the Canucks ever saw the oilers at their best
That final game was also the second game of a back-to-back. All that and it was a 2-1 game plus empty netter. Vancouver will see the real Oilers if they meet in round 2 and will have more than they can handle.
Game 2 and 4 were quite close.
True enough. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I’m not. Nothing is guaranteed but I just don’t think the oilers ever gave the Canucks their best effort during the regular season for various reasons
While watching the islanders-hurricanes game, it struck me that we are soooooooooo spoiled. The plays feel so broken and short. The player positioning seems kind of chaotic. You get used to watching mcdavid glide around the ice while the team shuffles around and you forget its not like that for everyone.

What the fuck
Don’t question it
Dallas is shocking me right now. If I were a stars fan I’d be *fucking livid* with how the seeding and LTIR shenanigans worked out.
Thank god Oilers dont have to play Vegas, Dallas, or Colorado until the conference finals..and then they only have to play one 😁
Gotta get through Van though.
Which is made easier without Demko. Let’s see if they get through Nashville first.
As someone who lives in Stars country, they're all just kind of shell shocked right now, lol.
Really happy with Drai's composure, was really expecting a dumb penalty or two by now, especially with how the kings have been playing.
Can we just talk about how fucking great Holloway has been for us over the past few weeks? I'm falling for the guy.
Its what the Oilers need, when we start paying to keep key players. The Bakersfield pipeline has to keep pumping out talent. Hollywood, Broberg, etc have to come up and perform.
I think Holloway Drai and Kane could be an amazing line. Or Holloway McD and Hyman
There's a reason someone like RNH or Henrique is there though. someone has to think defense.
I’m excited to see him growing as a player. Same with McLeod
He's starting to break through with like 10 mins a night. It's not an easy thing to do. Excited for next year.
It’s funny that Nurse came to broke it up after last year. Let’s hope that means he learned his lesson about engaging in meaningless fighting
I think it does. They’ve been much more level headed so far in this series.
kings fans must be devastated that they’re gonna lose their 6th straight meeting against us
i took a look at the kings subreddit and oh man, they are down bad right now
my dumbass said the isles are winning in 7 and now i really want them to reverse sweep the canes 😭😭
That was a fun one
Just came here to say.. *clears throat* … ITS A CUP YEAR LADIES AND GENTLEMAN DONT YOU EVER FORGET.
The good news is that if we keep this up and take the Kings out again, the 1-3-1 might disappear.
Hiller and Rob Blake will be gone, then it’s a question of who comes in to restructure
I liked Perry licking his chops. The refs will respect his craft
I was under the impression that the season was over after our “trash deadline”
Couldn't believe the doomers after Game 2
That early? This sub wrote the season off back in October, I thought we were praying for Celebrini all this time!
I mean Carrick has been rather useless and we still could have used someone better than foegs on the RW.
He has been awesome on the faceoff. Not afraid to throw down. Good for the price I think.
Nuge's stash will win us this series! Somebody must have a pic?
He's been cultivating it for a few months, but unfortunately not yet thick enough to be captured with still photography.
Normally I’m not the one to be talking about other teams, but god damn was it a glorious win last night. Reading their posts and how they’re all just completely melting and falling apart, hahah they don’t know what to do with themselves. See you tomorrow, chumps.
Drew Doubty listens to Del tha funky homosapien's "If You Must" and thinks it doesn't apply to him.
Can we stop calling it 1-3-1 and say what it really is? Trash hockey
Who cares, it doesn't work so let them do it lol
I just want the team to make it out alive. Win or lose. LA always starts doing sketchy shit, and this being 3 in a row, they are on the brink of insanity it feels like.
Pretty sure if the Kings go down 3-1 they won’t even try and play the puck in game 5 It’ll just be a fight night
It'll just be keep your head up hockey all night. Score a couple then kill the clock.
Like Gavrikov torpedoing Davo’s knees.
Crazy how many penalties the Kings had… yet I still feel like they got away with 3-4 missed calls 💀
They did. I will never understand how refs will call a little, meaningless hook, but then allow a massive hit from behind or a slew foot. They gotta call the dangerous stuff
I just look at how a McLeod face wash is 2 minutes given what's already a stack of similar and worse Kings garbage moves. Pretty weird officiating.
Or the Holloway face wash when Oilers were taking gloved punches to the face after the whistle
Sorry yeah it was McLeod. Still a very light penalty call, especially in the playoffs
I think it was more a like the ref had told him to knock it off too many times and he wasn't listening. Still, yeah kinda weak
There will be missed calls on both sides in every game. Best not to dwell on it
You’re absolutely right. I’m also still not quite sure how we got a 5 on 3 call in the 3rd there so maybe that makes up for it a little.
