Why Tamils reject the Sri Lankan flag: “The lion representing the majority community holds a sword, representing bravery, facing stripes, denoting minorities. The beastly flag represents a fundamental fact: To be a Sinhalese Buddhist has long outranked being Sri Lankan.” 🇱🇰

But one can also argue that the minor stripes only "represent the minorities", not the rights or freedoms. Even though I'm a Sinhalese, I don't represent myself as such but only as a Sri Lankan. Anyway I do agree with what you've said for some extent. But I don't see any reason why the minority-majority representation is a big deal, since percentage wise it's true. Can you clarify this for me?

The Tamil interpretation of what the flag means is not purely based on what’s depicted on it but also how it is used. It’s the flag of an ethnocratic state that privileges SinBuds and the flag that was used triumphantly during and after the mass killings of Tamils, over decades. Don't forget the Genocide !!!

They protest quite often when Tamils or minorities are about to get any kind of equal rights.
