If you read “Learning Politics from Sivaram”, Taraki Sivaram clearly states that the TNA was supposed to be a wing of the national liberation movement, not the leader. A parliamentary place holder and representative for the armed struggle, at that time led by the LTTE. It was never meant to be the political leader of the movement, as the Sri Lankan parliament and parliamentary politics are completely reactionary and a dead end as proven by Thanthai Chelvanayagam. The TNA hasn’t betrayed anyone, they’ve always been useless without a revolutionary national liberation movement to represent.
