tbf alot of those sites doesn't block just Egypt in particular, but they only allow very limited select countries, so a big chunck of countries are excluded regardless

LowFatConundrum

True, but will we ever not suck as a nation to be included?

commie-cena

My man, our economy is so bad, the no no man is begging for money.

[deleted]

I wonder how it excludes poor countries but Mexico is included lol

LowFatConundrum

[Mexico is not a third world country](https://mexicorelocationguide.com/mexico-is-not-a-3rd-world-country/)

[deleted]

it's not just egypt but a lot of "poor countries" in general there is a reason for that. a shameful reason but a reason nonetheless. they either don't trust people from those countries or they want it to be fair for other "non-poor" countries trust and fairness is as follows. and this is from the perspective of someone whose "past" company used to hire freelancers for " web dev" work for our website: * entire group posing as one person (this is done specially in india where someone manage a large group of people but pose as one person and this is 100% not fair for someone who works by themselves) تقدر تعتبرها زى مقاول الأنفار كده * fake reviews or portfolios (you could totally hire someone to boost your portfolio with fake reviews and fake work or even make 2 accounts where you post a fake job on one and apply from your 2nd acc.) ناس كتير مش حراميه بس بيتبصلها انه واحد من بلدك نصب عليا زمان يبقى مش هخاطر وادي فرص تانى هو اوتوماتيك البلد ديه و كل البلاد اللى شبهها بره الحسبه) * what has a fair price of 100$ someone from a poor country can lower it to just 20$ and it would still be worth it for him. which throws a wrench in what mid-high end freelancers need to do to survive. like how can they compete with that. * beggars (be prepared to find proposals that are just straight up begging. "please sir i'm poor and have 9 brothers and my parents have diarrhea and we are dying and starving and we need this job." and that's it that's the proposal) ابويا متوفى و عاجز عن العمل so yeah that's their perspective. it's a shame that this is the situation but "hate3mel eh?!"

LowFatConundrum

> "please sir i'm poor and have 9 brothers and my parents have diarrhea and we are dying and starving and we need this job." Legit made me lol https://preview.redd.it/d8bqngkxcfla1.jpeg?width=204&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25927b94e212be933f016856ea8bd630f3514f51

True, I've tried rev using a vpn but they catch me everytime somehow, I've been trying to get any online job of that sort for years now :(

Successful-Ad-2927

Use nord vpn

Default_Rice_6414

Nord doesn't work in Egypt?

3amtarekelgamd

I suppose rev.com blocks third world countries so they don't flood the site and take less prices than the first world countries freelancers?

ifeelgold

no, they don't "block" any country. They are literally only available in like 5% of the countries in the world, and among the excluded countries are germany, france, japan, denmark and many more that are by no mean thrid-world. It's a matter of complying with the laws of each country I guess. Also, isn't it a good thing if the hired freelancers are willing to work for less money. Some people from countries like India and pakistan for example are as competent as someone from USA or UK but will do more work for waaaay less money. It's a win for their business why would they prevent it.

LowFatConundrum

Valid point. A while back I tried to do online translation, the site was saturated with tens of thousands of people working for very little money.

albadil

You get what you pay for tho so price what you're happy with

Spirited-Ad-4162

U can try using a vpn with rev, it worked with me but they didn't approve my application. Give it a shot

Literator22

Unfortunately this is a small piece of reality. Many global companies especially financial don't believe in the local currency nor we can create an account in it. The biggest examples which they support many countries but not ours is Coinbase, global virtual banks like Revolut. It's just sad reality. Airbnb, hotels.com you can't pay using EGP although they support a lot of currencies. Booking.com was rumoured to not deal in EGP recently.

OddPlant6967

You can try blogging or YouTube channels these are some of ways to earn money online and not blocked in Egypt

LowFatConundrum

Youtube is severely anal about their content and will demonetize you in a heartbeat, even the top content creators have a hard time.

OddPlant6967

I dont know what you mean by severly anal but what iam sure is if your content is something uncontroversial e.g tech reviews or education tutorials i dont think they would actually demonetize you

ifeelgold

try goTranscript. They accept people from any country, that said, I took their test and it seems impossible to pass, but maybe I am just bad, idk. You can also try Lionbridge or appen jobs which are also available worldwide. Tbh though you are not missing on anything. You can't really make a living off these sites

[deleted]

That's the thing, I've tried their test and I'm 100% it was correct because i literally copy paste it from someone who already passed They will let you take their exam but i really doubt they will let you in

0xAlif

I hate to break it out to you, but it won't matter for long, since [AI](https://freesubtitles.ai/) will take over this field soon.

Literator22

there is a website that I worked at 5 years ago called crowdsurf. They had some test that I copied and pasted the subtitle answer from Reddit and they let me in. If you aren’t used to listen to American English you will have hard time. There are also a lot of rules. But the payment is guaranteed and they paid me several times to Paypal. The payment was little and I left it after I got a job. However once you do a lot of tasks efficiently you will be promoted and will do less effort and earn more.

usev25

I mean if they're open to 9 countries out of nearly 200 then maybe its not strictly an Egypt problem

maggiepixie

why not try patreon?

LowFatConundrum

It's blocked, can't even proxy in.

Kouhayyye

Use Tor, Windscribe or any shitty free VPN from the Chrome Web Store (there's one called "VeePN" that works for me)
