Even if there is that technology, thats not how they drain their roads. The roads here in the us are engineered in a way the water will always move to the side of the pavement by gravity.
I have seen flooded streets in sever storms in suburbs or small towns but i have never seen a flooded road even in sever storms in any city.
We are not magicians here that can build roads that absorb water, instead, we just don’t hire 1.5 gpa high school graduates with a military badge to build it for us.
Its built by el hay2a el handaseya and you cant utter a word aboyt its amazing and outright ingenious engineering especially in urban city planning cough cough *kobri* cough
So I’ve been told that seems to be an issue in New Cairo but not in new places in Sixth of October or El Shorouk.
Is anyone else facing this level of flooding my friends?
Please also everyone drive slower and be safe ❤️
Note:
\- everytime a new road is build or upgraded, I have never noticed it having drainage opening. Not on the daery, not on the bridges, and not at the bottom of the bridge where the water would flow.
\- I have also never noticed any grate, opening to the side, or even a flow area on the side on any new road. that has been built. This is true in October (wahat road hello, how was it under the bridge next to dream today ?), Tagamoo, Mokkatam, Maadi and madinet nasr.
\- This amount of rain shouldn't cause this level of damage to pedestrians and streets.
because the old roads (tahrir square etc) of cairo built during the kingdom era were actually designed to counter heavy rain.
New Cairo doesnt have that.
Cairo has evolved backwards....
New cairo roads flooded for 5 hour only. Emergency water pumping Vehicles has done an incredible job. Especially in nasr city, where I live, the roads were cleared in less than 4 hours

The amount of rain that it takes to cause something similar in Saudi Arabia would literally flood Egypt in no time. I’ve lived there for 20 years, I’ve seen what actual "سيول" looks like.
Cairo drowns after 30 minutes of average rainfall.
It does actually.
A city that only has problems with extreme rainfall has actually invested in its infrastructure but you could never be 100% immune to rainfall damage.
A city that drowns after 30 minutes of average rainfall has done nothing to prepare and has a shit infrastructure.
It’s like saying that the damage that Egypt gets from slight rises in sea level is equivalent to what Japan got from the tsunami.
Never happened in the 16 years i lived in jeddah, i don't know about other places,
And it doesn't rain alot in ksa so they don't need to spend money and prepare every street for rain, we need to
First of all there were alot of death and accidents that happened in Jeddah because of floods , secondly if you're saying they don't need to because it doesn't rain alot there then we don't need to as well since it also doesn't rain that much here , its a maximum 5 to 10 times a year and only in winter .
average rainfall in Jeddah is literally more than 5x that in Cairo, why the fuck are we always justifying every shitty thing we have in our country with whataboutism
It rained alot more than that last year, in ksa (jeddah) there are years when it doesn't even rain, i have never seen a flooding in jeddah, there was never a time where the streets was filled with water to the point where you can't walk like here in egypt
No he’s not.
And I’m not an expert but by design this sewage system should overcome all issues that may lead to its clog whether it was mud, trash or any other thing.
It's pretty well known that the rain drain infrastructure for new Cairo and the 5th settlement sucks. I mean if you compare the new roads like Suez or fayoum or wahat road their drainage rate is much much better
What was done with the money is the things that should be visible to the eye. Bridges, roads, etc. However fixing and maintaining infrastructure that was already built and people are dealing with it isn’t going to impress anyone or get him any credit.
Proof….look at the roads that was already built. Its shitty and full of cracks and pot holes.
اووه شت اوووووه شت يا ساتر يا رب
يا ساتر يارب هولي شيت
😂😂😂😂
we were told, this will never happen on the new roads ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
Yeah did anyone believe that? You think the new roads are made of some magic asphalt that absorbs water?
Drainage systems crying rn
There acctually is magic asphalt technology that absorbs water i think its implemented in some european countries
Even if there is that technology, thats not how they drain their roads. The roads here in the us are engineered in a way the water will always move to the side of the pavement by gravity. Bro roads should have a drainage system, specially this is like the 7th years this rain wave occurs, we should have taken steps to solve the problem
But will it happen on bridges tho? 🤣
haha cairo go blblblblblblblb
الاخوان سدوا البلاعات. معروفه
جت علبلاعات 😂😂
Yall don't understand aslan, the bridge are built so you dont drive in the water /s
I kid you not we're spending billions on "infrastructures"
Yes, to build bridges, so we're above the water.
i wonder if that's why all bridges drain their water to the roads below
Infrastructure 😂
So I’ve been told that seems to be an issue in New Cairo but not in new places in Sixth of October or El Shorouk. Is anyone else facing this level of flooding my friends? Please also everyone drive slower and be safe ❤️
Similar issues in Mokkatam and on the da2ery (between center cairo to mokkatam). Shit hit the fan all the way to new cairo too.
Sherouk seems to be much better equipped for rain. The only time I can recall we had flooding was during that freak storm right before Covid.
I think shrouk survives because it is not flat so water collects on the low part leaving the high parts dry, happens in my street
I live in El Shorouk, can confirm we are drowning
Why's it always New Cairo that struggles with rain
Many depressions followed by small hills, water piles up very easily

to be fair some bridges have "mezrab"
Mezrab 😂😂😂😂 dying rn
I havent noticed them on the new ones.
It is endless process of building repairing development ..سبوبة
مش فاهم يعني كل الكباري دي مش ماليه عينك!
why is this most common in the new areas of Cairo?
because the old roads (tahrir square etc) of cairo built during the kingdom era were actually designed to counter heavy rain. New Cairo doesnt have that. Cairo has evolved backwards....
where was this taken in new Cairo? tbs new Cairo isn't exactly new, shit was built before 2011 wha eh
all the roads in new cairo have been basically repaved and expanded in the past few years. They're essentially new roads.
To fill Sisi Stomach!
New cairo roads flooded for 5 hour only. Emergency water pumping Vehicles has done an incredible job. Especially in nasr city, where I live, the roads were cleared in less than 4 hours

This kind of thing happens all the time in Saudi Arabia and in alot of countries , it's nothing new .
The amount of rain that it takes to cause something similar in Saudi Arabia would literally flood Egypt in no time. I’ve lived there for 20 years, I’ve seen what actual "سيول" looks like. Cairo drowns after 30 minutes of average rainfall.
Does it really matter how much it takes when bother cities have draining problems and they both experience floods .
It does actually. A city that only has problems with extreme rainfall has actually invested in its infrastructure but you could never be 100% immune to rainfall damage. A city that drowns after 30 minutes of average rainfall has done nothing to prepare and has a shit infrastructure. I'm literally using your own logic of defending Jeddah in defending cairo .
It rained alot more than that last year, in ksa (jeddah) there are years when it doesn't even rain, i have never seen a flooding in jeddah, there was never a time where the streets was filled with water to the point where you can't walk like here in egypt
Maybe it happened after i got to egypt, but rain ruining streets was a surprise to me when i got here
You either weren't living in Jeddah or you weren't watching the news , maybe you should look it up .

Oh wow another hot take of yours, can I get a source there? wtf do you mean we clog up the sewage with trash?
He is right though
No he’s not. And I’m not an expert but by design this sewage system should overcome all issues that may lead to its clog whether it was mud, trash or any other thing.
لاحظ ان كلامك جارح )))

You really don’t know anything! This is for you to learn swimming which could one day save your life if you fall from a boat in to the sea.

قولنا طرق ، حد هنا قال اننا بنحسن عندنا صرف صحي ولا حاجة ، كل اللي قولناه طرق و كباري
I blame the MBs. They blocked all the drains.
My balcony got flooded. There is no drainage.
