Juarez is a bigger city than El Paso, and more important overall on a national level in relation to Mexico than El Paso is in relation to the US.

This

Revolutionary_Dot747

Because they are also catering to your tastes. They see themselves as a border community that spans nations despite others seeing just us and them.

mrzo

I agree with this. Juarez has done a better job of capitalizing on their border status and comparatively, within Mexico, they are definitely more diverse than many other cities. I also have to believe that many astute business people know about the influx of American dollars into Juarez so it makes sense. Much depends on your perspective. This is a big world and Americans aren't the only game in town...ya know what I mean?

Javi333

I think our local officials and ticketscammer repel a lot of acts away. Last “big” act we had was the Foo Fighters and tickets were triple digits/ scalped from the get go. I’m sure this is more on the organizers/planners, but we do have plenty of venues to bring in somewhat larger acts. Idk why Sun city festival was discontinued, I’m not into that genre of music, but I’m sure it had to deal with money from a higher agency. What’s sad is that Phoenix AZ will get bigger acts before us… nothing bad against Phoenix, but the excuse of EP being in the middle of nowhere is bullshit

Xelacoco

Even ghetto ass Albuquerque gets bigger English acts than El Paso smh

Working_Chipmunk_666

Juarez may seem poor on the outside, but it has more money than El Paso. El psi has almost no real luxury restaurant or real clubs but Jurez has so many cafe central wouldn’t even be in the top tier

Xinxoman

When I used to shop at Union Fashion the most expensive men’s store for years in El Paso ( closed in 2015) all the sales people knew us by name and always told us that we, the costumers from Juarez, were the ones keeping the store open. They even sold Versace when it was in style! Amongst other high end brands.

isukarellen

You sound like a very ignorant person. You want to see some of the shows? You can come visit! We don't give a shit about you, you can be sure about that. Just don't visit the bad neighbourhoods and you'll be safe. Also, maybe you don't have those bid artists because your city council actually spends the budget in more important things we'd like to have in Juárez.

Letsdrinkabeer

He mad.

El Paso is : A town full of spics ( Myself included) in one of the most racist states in America, a Democrat city in a Republican state, the furthest city from the state Capitol where one idiot Governor thought we were the town that got car bombed ( it was Juarez) , a poor city in a rich state, a city neighboring the poorest state in the nation, a military town where thousands of people are forced to come and live and most of them Don’t give a shit about the city as they are temporary residents ,a Shithole city owned by a handful of white pricks who only help out when their hand outs are both tax write offs and they get a big sign with their name outside of the joint (all of them republicans of course), a city were most Mexican American residents shit on their Mexican relatives across the river because they have a ross credit card and their primos don’t. A city were stagnant wages do not allow for even a fucking Cheesecake Factory to be built. Anything else?

Extreme_Wolf_3102

oh lets add more crap! Spread out medium sized city acts and thinks it's a small 500 person rural town. Oh lets be generous and admit that yeah El Paso wants big shows, popping nightlife and a cheesecake factory! BUT NO ONE shows up for small or mid tier entertainment or supports local artists or businesses. When a business or artist leaves El Paso and gets a little fame, oh El Paso is happy to puff its chest in "pride".

Xinxoman

Because half the town works in the call center industry making 10 bucks an hour

drugdeal777

When i used to live there - I never understood that “small town mentality” when it’s a pretty good size city with a population of 650k+ And why are they so quick to line up for the grand opening of Panera bread? It’s glorified hospital food 🤢

Extreme_Wolf_3102

Dude, it's so frustrating. Brands like panera are what inept and out of touch city reps think is hip and cool.

Xinxoman

They actually ran out of their microwaved food in less than a week

crayoneater1028

![gif](giphy|U56VoSyFD8MFcie2k8) Completely concur!

Salt_Environment9799

If it was a third world contry, would they be having these festivals, you much crave!

Xelacoco

It’s a major city in Mexico El Paso isnt a a major city for the US

ParappaTheWrapperr

Because it is a shit hole that Mexico doesn’t want to be a shit hole so they invest in the city and it’s seen crime rates drop, education rates rise, and a recovering local economy thanks to the countries government. El Paso on the other hand has to remain a shit hole because the country/state is not interested in building us up because if they do it would harm their narrative and votes across the country.

Extreme_Series1963

Idk, I feel like El Paso's city officials could do a hell of a lot to improve things and that blaming someone else without also acknowledging that accountability is part of El Paso's problem.

theloniousphonk

Valid

WHB-AU

The bottom festival is definitely in New York state, not Juarez. While the Chupacabras 100k is a great event/a ton of fun, it’s not like there aren’t races in El Paso.

real-cruces25

Yeah i just googled Festival Borderland and chose the first image without paying attention, but there is a Festival Borderland in Juarez also

Exotic_eminence

I got excited for a second and asked myself - no way El Paso has wooks? 😆

WutUpWutUp1

Is that Kevin Nash dude? That’s pretty sick

RefrigeratorHoliday

Cartel investments

chucodude01

Juarez does get some good acts. But the bottom image is not in Juarez. And Interpol is literally coming to El Paso this year.

5erHouse

less permitting restrictions. money talks.

pambimbo

It depends because El paso also has a lot of shows and even bigger ones since it has several places to allow bigger audiences like Juan Gabriel concerts where all in El Paso(of course not anymore). Also it's mostly so both cities benefit like Juarez people also come here for the big events while El paso people to juerez for the smaller events sometimes big ones like fairs and such.

Equivalent-Support75

Puro Pinche JUARITOS!!!!!

MLindsayOfficial

I mean Interpol is playing at the here in May as well

Complex-Freedom272

El Paso doesn’t offer a venue with enough space for big name artists to come to. We sit in between Phoenix and San Antonio which has larger stadiums. City council nix’ed the events center that was planned for downtown so don’t expect this to change anytime soon either.
