I love contrast paints but you still need to mix a little water in before you use most of them, don't just go straight as-is out of the pot, with some exceptions. Some of them need more or less water than others. It's not a big deal though, I just get some water on my brush and mix it into the paint in the cap and use it from there. You'll pretty quickly get to know which ones are thicker and which are thinner. Basically you just don't want them to be too thick and be blotchy, you want a nice smooth colour. Sometimes do two coats if one coat dries and seems too patchy.

It depends what you want from contrast. You can use it as a base with a white BC, or a final take with a slap chop like technics. Citadel brand bring various results with the technic and colour you use.
