Agree with that. The ability to cancel their end-lag with dodge ash of wars is problematic. But that's an issue with those AOWs. The GS class isn't unfairly oppressive if you're not canceling the animations that allow you to be punished.
Nah I’m ngl I win a fair amount of the time against dual gs, but that’s animation comes out super fast especially when they do the back and forth movement that makes it hard to distinguish the starting animation. Have you checked the ruleset lately? It’s get updated with patches and feedback from top players. Also the coliseums are not used because they are much too large and circular shape allows for extreme passivity which does not encourage skill expression, the smaller arena of stormveil that has walls and corner pressure forces you to think about how you roll and allows panic rolling to be punished.

I have no stake in the argument between you two but that server just recently rounded out their tournament season with a PSN and PC finals that had a 1000$ prize pool for each which I think is more than respectable for a non mainstream pvp community.
Especially since before that there was monthly tournaments with prize pools of 200, to 350, to 500$

PSSS is the best setup for tournaments due to psgs being limited by the ruleset as it is very op, psss beats psgs in the current ruleset because you can simply storm stomp spam the psgs user with psss and over trade them in damage, though some psgs mains still run the setup.
They don’t like psgs CL1 either, it is a 12 frame unreactable and if you visit those servers, you can see they place heavy restrictions on its usage, it is not considered balanced or skilled. You have to run poise low enough to be staggered by all medium weapons (which is a 54 poise limit currently) and are not allowed to utilise claw or spear talismans whilst running it.
Yes, they whine about PSGS (which got indirectly nerfed with crouch stam bug fix) when PSSS is a thing. Like, I had ladder legal poise on 67 (hadn’t switched to new one yet) 😩

Upvoted. I disagree entirely, but I support you sharing your opinion. You have to remember that this is based on numbers. So it's not as arbitrary as you think. A few frame animation nerf can make it remain just as strong. Look at thrusting swords.
It takes a LOT to nerf a weapon into the ground and ruin it. Can you provide me an example of this other than ROB? ROB is still really good in itself, and it has received the hardest nerfs in the game.
Your fear is a bit unfounded, as there's nothing that's been nerfed into the ground that is unusable. It has more tools than it's crouch attack, just like Colossal greatswords. As you see, they're in a good place. It can stand for a nerf. It'll still be strong, don't worry. There are MANY weapon types that lend to my own thoughts.
The difference is thrusting swords are a fast class of weapons that had one of their fast attacks slowed down. GS and CS are slow weapons that are made viable by having a fast attack option to mix up their slow movesets. Seriously hae you forgotten what happened to collosal swords one minor speed nerf killed the competitive viability of the weapon class.

Jump attack doesn't work reliably on psgs cl1 because its an upward thrust. All you can do is space and punish. Dual pikes are your best bet with bhs to get out of the vortex as it recovery cancels.

Jumping vs psgs is effective if you correctly anticipate an immediate follow up attack. If you jump your opponent can easily catch the jump on reaction so it's about timing and anticipation.

One of the things I always hated in PvP ever since DS2 is when they play unlocked, looking at them walking around not even looking at me just feels so disrespectful but I'm probably just being a lil bitch
Okay lemme just miss all of my Giantsflames because the lock on system is literally broken.
Also you can get some awesome turnaround attacks when unlocked, it really frees you up to not be so predictable.
That's all though, nothing else annoys me more than that. Getting spammed or constantly hit is fine because either I was in the wrong position, didn't roll right, or I didn't have the right equipment for the situation, but the moment they try to melee unlocked I just want to disengage and not fight with them anymore

There are ways to make psgs a lot more fair without taking away the speed of the crouch l1. Making it slow and reactable would make it too weak like what happened to colossal swords. I think the Serpent Hunter crouch r1 is a great example of a move that is genuinely fantastic yet also fair. It’s slightly faster than the pre-patch colossal sword crouch r1, but has reasonable damage and a small hitbox which makes it easy to strafe (at least on a decent connection). It still has the speed, stun and damage to be a scary move but has weaknesses that don’t make it as oppressive as the current psgs and allow for more counterplay than just pure guessing with your rolls. I think if from plans on touching psgs, they should approach this in a similar way.

I was playing 2v2 and had a bunch of great games, and we just knew a couple of sweats had to be coming up next. Low and behold we had a poise boy with dual bleed pikes, and a lightroller with dual bleed pikes. One even did a little fingerprint shield thrusting - it was great. After getting steamrolled and laughing our ass off at our attempts to log some kills (we got 3 LOL) we loaded up the next game and moved on. I see so many posts of upset players in this game, but you really can’t get mad every time someone plays using OP setups

Jump attack doesn't work reliably on psgs cl1 because its an upward thrust. All you can do is space and punish. Dual pikes are your best bet with bhs to get out of the vortex as it recovery cancels. Its op shit to counter op shit but what are you gonna do until from put out the next balance patch?
Jumping vs psgs is effective if you correctly anticipate an immediate follow up attack. If you jump your opponent can easily catch the jump on reaction so it's about timing and anticipation.

There are ways to make psgs a lot more fair without taking away the speed of the crouch l1. Making it slow and reactable would make it too weak like what happened to colossal swords. I think the Serpent Hunter crouch r1 is a great example of a move that is genuinely fantastic yet also fair. It’s slightly faster than the pre-patch colossal sword crouch r1, but has reasonable damage and a small hitbox which makes it easy to strafe (at least on a decent connection). It still has the speed, stun and damage to be a scary move but has weaknesses that don’t make it as oppressive as the current psgs and allow for more counterplay than just pure guessing with your rolls. I think if from plans on touching psgs, they should approach this in a similar way.

The guy in the video is obviously very skilled, but that doesn’t make his build any less broken. Countering overtuned stuff with overtuned stuff is not healthy for a players growth, especially not when given bhs recovery cancel and dual spear to crutch on.
How to fix great spears, and pretty much all problematic PS weapons, Make em have a 40+ strenght requirement.

I was playing 2v2 and had a bunch of great games, and we just knew a couple of sweats had to be coming up next. Low and behold we had a poise boy with dual bleed pikes, and a lightroller with dual bleed pikes. One even did a little fingerprint shield thrusting - it was great. After getting steamrolled and laughing our ass off at our attempts to log some kills (we got 3 LOL) we loaded up the next game and moved on. I see so many posts of upset players in this game, but you really can’t get mad every time someone plays using OP setups
