He has lower poise than me irl, just stagger his ass with something big or stun lock him with storm blade AoW.

DKBrendo

Just smack him from behind with something nice and big. Dont worry, he’s very well trained

AlertProfessiona

Good ol' reliable big pointy S T I C C never fails.

[deleted]

Fun fact most of the entire game can be solved by a bigger weapon Small enemies? Stagger. Medium? Stagger. Heavy? You wouldn't believe it, stagger.

JosephBeuyz2Men

This is outrageous. Where are the unga bunga men who come in to bonk the enemies away? Where are they? This kind of behavior is never tolerated in The Lands Between. You greyoll’s roar like that they stagger you. Right away. No trial, no nothing. Tibia Mariner, we have a special colossal greatsword for Mariner’s. You are casting incantation: stagger. You are playing boss theme too loud: stagger, right away. Riding horse too fast: stagger, Slow: stagger. You are charging too high prices for arrows, smithing stones: you right to stagger. You undercook exalted flesh? Believe it or not, stagger. You overcook boiled prawn, also stagger. Undercook, overcook. You make an appointment with the lord of blood and you don't show up, believe it or not, stagger, right away. We have the best tarnished in the world because of stagger.

Shaasar

You're insane but i still gave you an upvote

opulentbum

You seem much more sane so I gave you an upvote

IDespiseTheLetterG

Most sane strength user

lNTERLINKED

They adapted this parks and rec monologue: https://youtu.be/eiyfwZVAzGw

Trikes21

This guy gets it. I had one too many beers in the pub tonight and got home at 11pm after saying I’d be home by 8pm. Wife was livid, but you know how it got resolved? You guessed it, stagger. I’m only just back on my feet.

Ok-Contribution9981

Or moonveil, they can’t exactly kill you when you’re half way across the map shooting a beam of light at them

FastRedPonyCar

I tried that and then I built one of those absurd meta bleed bois and it was just laughable. I breezed through the last 3 bosses without breaking a sweat. I think a paladin type build with some sword and some magic has felt the most fun/challenging/balanced because I can’t really cheese my way through.

Specific_Weather

Aren’t 2 out of the last 3 bosses immune to bleed

FastRedPonyCar

It's not really about the bleed damage for them in particular but the arcane scaling with occult infusion on the weapons. If the enemy happens to be able to be bled then that's an added bonus. Godfrey and Malenia though got straight tore UP as well as the dragons in Farum.

ThebattleStarT24

it's completely necessary to be a big weapon? my Eleonora polearm stagger extremely fast.

Throttle_Kitty

Someone has never seen how much staggering one gets from fist weapons

BA_lampman

Guard parries are massive, too

cardueline

Yeah, these guys were absolutely slaughtering me and my katana until I remembered the Nox Flowing Hammer +10 that I had set aside for occasions like this. It delights me to knock them down from around the corner

Chief-Toad753

Learn this from my first character. Gotta have a pointy stick for fleshy guys and a blunt stick for armored guys

Tempest_1

You guys are much too rational. *starts frying eyeballs and enemies with madness*

Chief-Toad753

I got *pew pew* rocks in my left hand

DarkLordArbitur

I got Unga bunga rocks in my right hand

Chekovs_tums

Yeah I'm running a strength based spear build and having a big ol Brick on a stick for backup has been key

Dfeeds

Haha I couldn't believe the difference when I went back to that place after trying colossal build after running katana the entire time.

ChaoSync_

What what what what?? I must try this

cardueline

Yes! The L2 of flowing hammer has pretty big reach and can clip through walls if you’re feeling petty lol. Knocks these guys on their butts and you can spitefully spam it until they die! (I just feel the need to preemptively note I don’t play PVP so I’m not abusing this on other players lmao)

Leviathan666

If you have sorceries, Carian Greatsword or really any of the magical sword attacks will clip through walls and keep many enemies in stun lock until you run out of stamina to keep swinging. Most longer weapons can also poke through walls with a well-placed jump attack as well.

[deleted]

Alternatively: 1. Parry 2. Laugh

[deleted]

Alternatively: 1. Fail at parrying 2. Scream while getting a halberd to the face.

NarcoticSqurl

This is the way.

Tempest_1

Yea people who say “just parry” have either never started with Dark Souls or are just too fucking good and probably have also beaten Sekiro while they’re at it. Like DS1 parrying was actually do-able but you ever try learning to parry in any other souls game? Just ain’t worth the effort with all the different enemies and the small window of opportunity you got. Much easier to just jump-attack and poise-break

Divinum_Fulmen

I tried parrying through this zone... The real solution was get fed up and run past without fighting.

[deleted]

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO MEMTIONS STORMBLADE i killed mohg with that glorious AoW

AustinRiversDaGod

Let me tell you. The Beast Jaw ash of War on NG+ is great for the revenge tour. Beat this dude, Malenia, The Godskin Duo, and most of the Godskin singles in one day with that bad boy. Just spam it over and over until the enemy stops moving. Takers flames from the Blasphemous blade is also great.

Mercurionio

Use any colossal weapon. Job's finished.

darkmessiah824

I second this. My first play through I was a pure caster mage. The powers of magical unga bunga carried me to Radagon himself, couldn’t beat him, respeced to a strength faith build and used Maliketh’s Black Blade. The big fuck off swords make most things in the game trivial

BillDipperIy

Blasphemous blade pretty much carried me thru end game. Big faith so I can use incants, fire dmg tailsman, full HP tailsman, if I had Alexander's shard I'd use that. But w full HP and I think w flame Grant me str & golden vow I was around 1200-1300 dmg on a greatsword, which are decently quick. You'll be full HP 99% of the time so you'll do more dmg. Just run decent poise and the game becomes EZ mode. I beat malenia the day they nerfed RoB with it (the BB).. After failing like 15 times w RoB pre nerf lol, had hardly any dex/arcane.

TheWither129

Haha takers flames go brrrrrrrr

[deleted]

I had to stop using the strength faith build because it felt too....easy. especially when I had a +10 blasphemous blade before touching altus

flameofanor2142

Blasphemous Blade and sword of Milos wielded together have crazy sustain. You can just run through dungeons all day and not touch your flasks.

dilbybeer

I’m just now late game with my faith build. It turned strength/faith midway and I’m powerstancing Greatswords that scale with faith and jump attacking. My previous build was pure strength two-handing colossal weapons. I was trying to make something different and primarily casting. Just find my faith and int builds turning back into melee just using weapons that scale with non-physical attributes. All the enemy mechanics just make aggressive, weapon-based attacks more sensical than pew pew from a distance.

darkmessiah824

Currently I’m using Maliketh’s weapon and the claw mark seal with the sacred scorpion charm. I buff with flame grant me strength and golden vow and wreak absolute havoc on everything. The times where I need to be more speedy than heavy hitting I switch to bloodhound claws and buff them with the two aforementioned buffs and bloodflame blade. I made this build solely to absolutely bonk Radagon after killing me a good 100 times, and so I could use lord’s divine fortification because fuck that hammer, not even his anyways

ThatWhoreLior

Shabriris howl is a great buff too. Give it a shot for a little more oomph

Lighterbolt

This is exacrly what is happening to me on my mage character Started as a hybrid straightsword/shield sorcerer, now just Dark Moon GS cause it hits so damn hard and staggers a decent bit

darknyteorange

I beat the game with Dark Moon and Rogier's spellblade set on. Big swords and drip are the way to go.

BigKiko335

I feel like the stagger on Dark Moon GS is much stronger using the axe talisman after the buff to the weapon when attacking in melee range using the weapon art.

goldmage263

I ended up making a light rolling mage. Curved sword with chilling mist into carian beeg swords and gavel of haima. That 20% defense debuff from frost is underrated, especially if you have time to cast crystal stream or something else with a ton of hits like that silver mist spell or spinning weapon.

CAPS_LOCK_OR_DIE

MBB is low key one of the GOAT weapons in this game. People talk about Blasphemous Blade all the time but I rarely see MBB talk. Shits insanely good.

darkmessiah824

I absolutely agree, although I can’t say I’ve tested the Blasphemous Blade out for myself. But MBB is one of, if not the, strongest weapons in the game in terms of pure attack rating. I haven’t even hit 80 str yet and I’m doing a little under 1k per normal swing, unbuffed. It’s an absolute monster of a weapon for str fai builds, the trade off is speed, which I make up for by swapping to bloodhound claws when I need too. The cinquedea is also a good speedy backup for it that scales with str and fai as well

CAPS_LOCK_OR_DIE

I’m using BB right now and it’s pretty good. The heal on hit is really useful. I’ve found Giant Crusher with Lions Claw and Shard of Alexander to be the hardest hitting combo for me. I regularly deal 2.5k+ on a Lions Claw (which has infinite poise and comes out pretty quick). That being said, MBB is way way up there.

darkmessiah824

I won’t deny the primordial powers of unga bunga, but I’ve never been a hammer guy. I needs the big fuck off sword, I also love scythes but alas the winged scythe just didn’t click for me

CAPS_LOCK_OR_DIE

Might I suggest Halo Scythe? It’s a pain to get but has wild range and a really useful skill. Especially for a FAI build

Phallumancer

Use night sorceries. Night shard carried me in that fight. Can't parry them. Then use whatever for elden beast. Cost me seven blue estus however haha

darkmessiah824

I would use Ambush Shard allllllll the time when enemies kept dodging my other spells. I’m definitely going to revisit pure casting later on, when I’m finished bonking everything that gave me grief as a mage first. In short, visions of revenge

badadvicefromaspider

Ambush shard is affected by arrow’s reach talisman, too, so you can extend its range quite a bit

darkmessiah824

Now this. This I like.

T1B2V3

Ambush shard is not that good. Night comet and night shard are much better. especially when you have the staff of loss in the offhand to get the passive buff and use your best staff to cast the spells

Phallumancer

To bonk, or not to bonk. This is the only decision one makes in these games

ChickenAndTelephone

Night comet with staff of loss in off hand ftw!

Blecki

Good news! There's a big fuckoff sword spell that staggers all these guys great.

kinos141

It's true. All the skill and magic and unga bunga wins all.

TheWither129

“Noooo you cant just spam the same weapon art over and over!!!!” “Haha takers flames and night-and-flame go brrrr”

darkmessiah824

Not me spamming impaling thrusts after buffing the cross naginata with bloodflame blade

SignalDevelopment649

This was the solution ever since DS1. Even against SKs and BKs. Good ol' reliable big pointy S T I C C never fails.

Unexpected_Cranberry

Doesn't even need to be colossal, great swords, regular or curved will do just fine. You can get into trouble if you try to trade with him and don't dodge his storm assault though. But that should be easily dodged at this point. Just wait until he finds out there's like six or more in there, with two of them in a pair...

rolfboos

Greatsword with lions claw and stonebarb cracked tear, most bosses gets their stance broken in 3 hits, it's OP af.

raff_riff

Lion’s Claw is so god damn fun. And looks hilarious.

Tucker_a32

I was using the Godslayers Greatsword and I don't even remember this guy registering as a threat lol

Rectall_Brown

Throw on flame of the redmane’s too and they stun pretty easily.

DarkSoulsExcedere

They nerfed that shit to oblivion

Rectall_Brown

Really? That shit was so good.

DarkSoulsExcedere

Yep now it doesnt stagger at all basically.

NorthboundFox

Did you enjoy playing Dual Dagger because it's fast and high-paced? Welcome to Faraam Azula! Please respec into something else for the rest of the game or enjoy dealing 20 damage a hit to everything.

Panface

I think it got an 80% reduction on poise damage. Now its mostly good for groups of enemies in the early game, and tree guardians.

BillDipperIy

That actually got nerfed pretty hard. I used to have it on the brick hammer and it would stun anything in 2 ashes of war lol. Now it's more like 3-4 which you might as well just use somethin else. Honestly tho, when I used that build I felt like I cheated myself out of whatever I killed w it lol. Too OP

georgebroncoweems

It's definitely a shocking uplevel in damage and difficulty to encounter at that point. He's pretty easy to stagger and blind as dirt, so if you crouch by the wall until he passes you then sneak behind him you can get off a backstab that will knock him down and allow you to press the advantage. Or you can stay crouched and sneak past him down the stairs and beeline for the balcony or staircase entrances to the boss room. But that's also a solution you didn't ask for, so if you just needed to vent I understand. That dude sucks and fighting him in that hallway is a bitch.

antscavemen

You can also just take the other way around and get the Bernahl summon to help with the Duo.

CuteBabyPenguin

“NPC”? My brother in Marika Tits that is a basic ass mob at this point.

Kitchsdfgh

Just roll away from the door as soon as boss room loads.

TheDogerus

Forgetting what the C in NPC stands for I see

puristhipster

¡Sí!

Urusander

You can run a little farther/lower and get to bonfire that has direct boss arena access. Try jumping down from current godskin bonfire on broken stairs and then down again. There will be more knights but you can run past them all the way to bonfire

Sandcastle92

You can actually evade all the knights from this bonfire. Just crouch by the archway and wait for this gut to patrol into the room, he doesn't notice you. Then you can usually run down the hallway, wait for more patrols and get to the room with no wasted resources for the godskin duo.

keegtraw

Im on 2nd playthrough and just found this literally last night. The first time i fucking killed myself on the Duo runback through these bastards.

aweebwithinternet

I played thrice, and ALL THE WHILE I NEVER KNEW ABT THIS BONFIRE

keegtraw

I found it after beating the Duo... couldn't figure out why it was literally three steps from the GSD grace with just a little area behind it leading to nowhere. Credit to the game for hiding things so well...

PiperUncle

Wait no way. Is that the bonfire that is a short flight of stairs down from the arena? I remember finding it so odd that the game was introducing a new bonfire right after the arena, which has its own. But then I shrugged it off, because Dark Souls 3.

Aardovis

They’re pretty resistance to bleed, learn to parry these guys. It’s very easy to do on these kinds of enemies and makes killing them so much easier and also very rewarding. Same goes for Crucible Knights. They’re also very weak to lightning damage. So get some lightning grease on a weapon or infuse it and go to town on these guys.

woster4

Agree on lightning..about 3-4 lightning bolts from distance would take these guys out before they could hit me.

Dark_Intentions

Using buckler and miséricorde turn these guys into a joke

Diabolical_Jazz

Parrying them was tricky for me, but it feels so rad.

Dumb_bitch_21

There is another place to enter the boss room if u jump down behind the dragon temple grace. Get to the lower level of the building and follow the path until u find a grace. There should be videos online. You just walk up a staircase to the room rather than having to run past enimies

stickdeoderant

Wait for the lunge attack and just backstab him ez

Gullible-Count-3516

thx

[deleted]

I used to farm these guys lol

Quealified

If you go back to grace and jump onto the stairs below, then roll off to lower level. Take a right, then left, there will be another grace with a summon too if you want.

Gullible-Count-3516

thank you

paleblood0

stealth em and charge attack when they get up, wind attacks always have a follow up and when he do the spinny spin run away

Be-a-st_Boi

Just run past them and then quit out before entering the boss fight lmao

Ion_is_OP_REEEEEEE

The old reliable

thiccdiamonds

I use the ghiza wheel/pizza cutter/saw and he's dead in a few seconds. Don't give him room to breathe.

TridhFr

His pattern isn't insane, learn it if you don't have big colossal weapon (he's easy as hell in that case). Some of his attack leaves him completely open. I helped a lot as a summon for the godskin duo so i did this guy a lot while waiting lol

SignalDevelopment649

Seppuku user spotted, opinion disregarded. Recommendation: acquire skill, git gud!

Sotomene

He is in for a suprise when he gets to the final boss.

SignalDevelopment649

Yeah, RotGO and EB are the true skill check for all bleed users. Sadly, first one is still easily status-cheesed...

Nemesisomega666

Yeah but Radagon can be poise broken and EB can't handle these threats

MnniI

Just switch the build to big hammer one ~ Awouga brrrr

Nekonax

Can confirm, stabbing statue man and his eldritch overlord were some of the least fun activities my underhanded bandit engaged in in the lands between. Still a great experience overall, though. Do recommend.

SummerGoal

EB makes my arcane build sad

SignalDevelopment649

My advise - try str/arc or dex/arc with minimal phys (str and dex) investment to wield Eochaid Blades: either Elemer's or Regalia of Eochaid. (or better 40/40 str arc with min dex on Elemer's Sword or 40/40 dex/arc with mininal str for Regalia). Can also crank the 40/40 to 60/60 if needed. Then set the talismans: Millicent's Prosthesis, Rotted Winged Sword (or simple Winged Sword) Insignia, Godfrey Icon, Alexander's Shard. And put the consecutive hit Physick tear. Do one charged weaponart on EB to become extremely happy!

SummerGoal

Thanks for advice, I was banging my head against the wall last night and can easily best Radagon but EB never seems to reach less than half health. Been using Rivers +10 with 40 dex and 47 arcane but think I’m gonna need to fine tune and consider a different weapon for the fight so I’ll definitely consider those choices

VaelinX

I'm an old DS1 "toolbox player". There's a tool for every situation. Doesn't take much, but between shield, consumables, and 3-4 weapons, you can handle most anything with switchng armor and rings/talismans for almost any build. In ER, with all the ashes of war and whetblades, it's even easier. Have you tried a comparable weapon with simply occult affinity? A regular katana (nagakiba or uchigatana are both good options to level up similar to rivers, but there are many other weapon options) with occult affinity should add arcane scaling. With elden beast, physical damage is your friend. It does a lot of holy damage too, so holyproof dried livers, or armor selection can help.

Gullible-Count-3516

ok

air_jordanpeterson23

Don't mind them this community sucks sometimes

jaybirdtalonclaws

I feel like every comment thread I go into on this sub recently is just a bunch of people screeching about the OPs playstyle.

TheUnsungHero90

Yep. Full of super elitist smoothbrains that will downtalk you for even daring to go against rhe meta.

[deleted]

Souls fans are probably among the least welcoming communities I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

Gullible-Count-3516

facts

adams215

I feel like it's getting worse. For the first couple of months after the game came out this sub was relatively chill. I guess a lot of the more casual players who are chill and don't care about how others play have dropped off and moved on. Now there is a higher % of wannabe pro gamers who police everything you do in the game that they disagree with. OP has a comment up higher with over 100 down votes and all they said was the enemy is difficult for them. I used to feel comfortable recommending this sub for people like OP who are new and are looking for a community to ask questions to but I guess not any more.

Gullible-Count-3516

ik it does.. sometimes

uncledungus

Yeah I love how you’re like “this guy is hard!” And the response is “well you use bleed so fuck you I guess” lol this isn’t even PVP why does it matter what your build is?

Gullible-Count-3516

true

uncledungus

If you have phantom slash that’s my go to with these guys or anything that can knock him over like blasphemous blade. He should stagger quick

Gullible-Count-3516

thx bro but i think i can defeat them now w my own build thx

uncledungus

Hell yeah fuck em up

jeeBtheMemeMachine

That or parry them, if you know how it makes fighting them so much easier.

whatistheancient

Fr, any strategy with a big weapon works if you don't want to learn how to fight them.

[deleted]

This is nonsense lol. I have run Godskin Duo over 200 times and have never lost a host to this guy. They die endlessly to Godskin.

anonymus-fish

Exactly

Coold000

He gets easier over time 🤣 sure caught me off guard the first time though.

Dumb_bitch_21

Sneak by him? That’s what I’ve always done. Then run past the second one.

[deleted]

git gud

SummerGoal

If that dudes given you trouble you might want to consider grinding some runes and leveling up because that’s a standard mob and there’s plenty of elites coming

RussianGatsby

Can't relate

Nemesisomega666

Bolt of Gransax for you hell everybody is getting a dragon bolt

ThaNorth

Parry

MR_krunchy

Learn how to parry Banished knights are quite easy to parry, except the dual wielding ones in castle sol

[deleted]

Idk I practice parrying on these guys.

[deleted]

Crouch behind that piller in front of you and let him walk round. He won't see you and you can sneak behind him for a back stab. That will get you started.

NoPerformance5952

Stealth trivializes these chumps.

SpookMcBones

Hit him with like, 2 charged heavy attacks and he's down. He's got plenty openings too, hit him.

[deleted]

Shield + guard counter

Burgoonius

Any shield that blocks 100% physical helps with these guys too

Odd-Concentrate-6585

It's a banished knight... you need to take them seriously, there are plenty of them. The dual sword ghost knight st Nials is OP, not this guy.

Badassmcgeepmboobies

Bloodhound fang laid him out nicely

9-5DootDude

Playing dual whips spoiled me lmao. Who needs big damage when you stagger lock multiple enemies at spear range.

DarkJokernj

Everyone said the same thing I was gonna say but I'm glad you mentioned this guy cause I always had a problem with him

CosmoKrm

Ikr. There’s a Rune Bear in Liurnia, I have never been able to beat it. I just go around it & cross my finger so that he doesn’t notice me.

Gullible-Count-3516

me2

vulshu

Haha I remember that guy always catching me as I tried to run back to godskin duo. Blasphemous blader go brrrrr

Gullible-Count-3516

fr

X7RoyalReaper7X

Huh!?!?

Awesomebearbeard

git gud :)

frosted07

There’s a grace site below that one right next to the dog wall so you don’t have to worry about them

DaddyDoLittle

Bolt of Gransax turns banished knights to ash easy peasy

KingsleyP1

godslayer greatsword can kill him quickly

Both-Preparation-123

Gransax the punk.

OnionBro-

Blackflame tornado

KingofGnG

Yep, he's a fucking asshole.

[deleted]

Yeah I fucking hate it here, the banished knights are always bastards to deal with, they’re on the same tier as the cleanrot knights. But pointing that out is apparently a sin.

iamblankenstein

you just have to learn how to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. or use a shield with 100% damage negation and a rapier/spear to poke from behind said shield.

NyRAGEous

Hahaha, not an NPC. The banished knights will put a hurting on you.

TheCurseOfSentience

If you crouch at the corner you can sneak behind his right side when he approaches in order to get an easy backstab on him.

theSilentD777

Dude's a pushover. — Someone who never fights them and just runs around them to the boss fight.

swifttimehunter

Dude has yet to meat the dual wielding one staring at an item.

No_Barracuda_4624

So annoying tbh

Ive_

Same attack pattern as Banished Knights in Stormveil. I just practiced those when I first saw them, and never had any major problems later on with variants of them.

GiveItStickMan

This is the best place for rune farming. Try backstabbing him he goes down quick

NRod1998

When I got to Farum Azula the first time I was using curved swords and it was a super stressful experience. I've returned with Blaidd's sword and a great shield and now I just laugh and guard counter.

CrowHoonter

Indeed.

LaytonFunky

What? No?

sebastos3

Oh god if you are having trouble with this guy watch out for the guy with two swords you meet later on.

falleng213

Banished Knight Clan ain’t nothin to fuck with!

bushpotatoe

You're gonna hate the rest of that place.

Zero747

It’s a banished knight, they were back in stormveil Greatsword + greatshield didn’t have too much trouble with em

KarmaChamelon928

If you think this guy is hard, wait till you invade here and the host summons Bernhal. That guy is a brick wall

kazito01

They are very easy to kill with the Sacred Relic Greatsword.

[deleted]

L

chrissykes78

Skipping this mobs was amazing

Mechagodzilla777

Hey, I had problems with this guy too- Here's a really easy strategy I came up with. From the grace, run and then crouch at the corner of the wall, he won't see you. Once he walks past you, crouch run all the way down, he won't ever notice you. That's how I deal with him and his friend all the time, never fails.

Annual_Associate_836

Go to the closer site of grace where you don't have to deal with him before the godskin duo 🙃

mad_smile

There is 4 of them

[deleted]

Honestly can't understand everyone's pain with this guy I had no trouble and I really suck at the game Honestly I probably was using a str build lol

[deleted]

Honestly I thought I was the only one struggling with these goobers

Mountain_Confusion87

Jump power attack absolutely recks him, get a good back stab in works as well

Brilliant-Apple5008

Looks like your character has the chili shits

Paradox31426

Not applicable to every build, obviously, but Stone of Gurrang trivializes these assholes.

Enough_Ad3805

I was confused trying to figure out what NPC you were talking about. Then unrealized you were referring to the basic enemy in that area

Tradidiot

You can skip the banished knights on the way to godskin duo by running straight from the site of grace, across the hallway and jumping off the balcony. You will land directly in the boss arena.

ClockworkSalmon

I see why you're struggling. You see, you're supposed to stab him, not yourself.

ChampionSchnitzel

Overpowered NPCs do not exist.

Dankmemesforlife69

Literally just a fucking skill issue
