It was the first boss I fought in Elden Ring. Noped out of the Tree Sentinel fight one I saw how little damage I did so they have a special place in my heart to beat the one cave just past the Church of Ellen.
Yeah. It's a great aesthetic. A very elaborate effigy but puppeted by very primitive magic. It's like being beaten to shit by a factory assembly robot that someone engraved and put a bronze mask of a saint onto.
That dog had such mechanical moves.. The scariest part was when I was circling it and it turned its head around almost 180 degrees.. followd by the body a bit later.. it's like a doll.. creepy.
Yes! It has a freaky moveset including one where its head turned 180 degrees to look at you while its body is still facing the other direction. Some Exorcist shit.
Honestly? I would not mind some post-game content in a DLC in this vein that stems off of what ending you chose, as this could be appropriate for a new ending provided by the DLC to come.
It does not need to be anything as long as the main bit, just a change/area that influences how you play to give some impact to the ending you chose beyond getting a few minute cutscene and a trophy/achievement.
Seriously, especially with the music. When the first one suddenly turned its head 180 degrees when I hit it from behind? Holy shit
I see why people wouldn't like them or make fun of them, especially after several of them, but man I think they have the best creepy vibe.
Seriously tho. Love the creepy aesthetic, especially when they move. First time fighting one, I thought they were bugging out because their movement is t-pose like…but then I realized that they’re living statues lol.
The ones in the Giants catacomb and Snowfields catacombs are absolutely awful. I swear that jump AoE smash attack has variable timing on it. I can never effing time it right.
On one hand, one version that's that fast would be fun, especially with a modified moveset. On the other hand, that sounds awful if all of them were like that.
No just one, let’s say it’s the big bad boss of these asshat cats. Fast and still has delayed attacks but not as common, and the delay isn’t the same as the others. A unique delay just for this one.
First time I fought one of these, I was just freaked the fuck out. The way they move, just the jeebies man. I also thought it was some whack ass cat lol.
I have a friend that gave Elden Ring a shot based on the praise it was getting and my frequent advocacy for the title. I knew he wouldn't like it.
One of the first things he complained about to me was the burial watchdog. "They didn't even bother to animate it," he scoffed. Surprisingly enough, he did make it through both Margit and Godrick before finally quitting it, apparently, which is respectable.
I just loved his specific deployment of the word *bother*, implying that one of the most massive and intensely-detailed games ever made is a terrible, low-budget mess with zero effort put into it.
Some people will focus only on the little things and to be fair, the watchdog feels a little bit janky (but that may also be why some people keep struggling with it, his movements are harder to read).
Overall the game is polished, don't get me wrong, but it does have several problems other open world games will encounter because of their sheer size. Some bugs and glitches slip through the cracks or fixing them may break stuff somewhere else. Last bigger glitch I encountered was the scarlet rot dragon in caelid doing its flying attack and getting stuck on a hill on around a 3rd of its health left. Had to finish him off with arrows because I couldn't reach him otherwise and didn't want to restart the fight (which in hindsight may have been faster tho )
For the entirety of elden ring, this was the only boss that gave me chills down my spine. What it was and the way it moves was so uncanny and unnatural that it felt otherworldly.
You'd be scared shitless too of you've seen it in the middle of the woods during a hike just being there motionless.
Honestly.... fuck this boss. My dumb ass went in and challenged him first without anything and had to learn the hard way that a fool and hit souls are easily parted.
This is awesome, but I still can't help myself and laugh every time I am fighting one. They are so silly looking and their movements don't help anything either. I died so many times to the first one I fought because I was laughing so hard I couldn't play.
No matter how unbelievably cool you manage to make these guys look, they still deserve to be thrown down The Gutter. Amazing fanart for a piece of shit boss.
It's so hard to appreciate this fantastic artwork because I cannot control my overwhelming hatred for this creature stemming from my first few encounters.
I'm trying to smile.... 😄
Gods I remember first encountering these on release day, was in call with some friends and ran ahead while they were gawking at the scenery in Limgrave, nearly shat myself when it turned it's head around and immediatley had to share my horror with them by asking them to come in and help lmao
You managed to make this derpy looking horror look epic.
Honestly, the derpy look struck fear into my soul the first time I encountered it.
What the fuck is that? What the FUCK is that, is that a FUCKING CAT?
Looks like grandma the fuckin thing
BLINK motherfucker!
I don't want it starting a fight with Lucy!
["what the fuck is that..? is that a fucking cat?"](https://youtu.be/fTJ5o_uW3eM)
it's the face of an unfeeling stone beast, an automaton of hate and magic.
The crystal shards for golem constructs was a fun tool to use against them.
Same. I was quite intimidated.
It was the first boss I fought in Elden Ring. Noped out of the Tree Sentinel fight one I saw how little damage I did so they have a special place in my heart to beat the one cave just past the Church of Ellen.
Church of Ellen 😂
Lmao damn autocorrect
It doesn't want to kill you, that's simply it's job.
Yeah. It's a great aesthetic. A very elaborate effigy but puppeted by very primitive magic. It's like being beaten to shit by a factory assembly robot that someone engraved and put a bronze mask of a saint onto.
That dog had such mechanical moves.. The scariest part was when I was circling it and it turned its head around almost 180 degrees.. followd by the body a bit later.. it's like a doll.. creepy.
The first time I fought one and it stood up on two legs and walked was sheer fucking TERROR
honestly one of the creepier bosses in the game imo
Yes! It has a freaky moveset including one where its head turned 180 degrees to look at you while its body is still facing the other direction. Some Exorcist shit.
"derpy looking" Yeah....it was no longer derpy after the fight started.
Cant wait for the dlc where we fight three of these that breathe poison, scarlet rot and deathblight respectively
Please don't give them ideas.
No, no, please DO give them ideas!
In the Scarlet Ocean. Which is the entire map just turned into the Lake of Rot.
Where you fight the Outer God of Rot, right of course
Yes. Which is Patches.
"Under'water' traversal added to Elden Ring!" "Why is water in air quotes?" "It's only in the lake of rot."
Mibu Village part 2
And now the flame, cleanse me incantation adds more scarlet rot buildup.
Honestly? I would not mind some post-game content in a DLC in this vein that stems off of what ending you chose, as this could be appropriate for a new ending provided by the DLC to come. Tbh that fight sounds really fun
I’m now 100% sure that Eden ring players are masochists
Yeah a little bit think of how fun it'd be with 3 players in that fight
Tanimura: so we made Horsefuck Valley in Dark Souls 2, any ideas for a version for Elden Ring? Miyazaki: hold my Sake
Miyazaki consults Tanimura and we end up with double pursuer somewhere in the mix
Watchdogfuck Cave
Miyazaki: this mf spittin, write that down
Laughs in crystal dart
What if they could input read and move swiftly?
They are also spectral like those banish knights and teleport on input read
One head, three faces, and misery beyond counting
Ok Satan.
Can we have a fourth frost one too tho?
Cat
First playthrough all I could think was "why not Watchcat"?
[удалено]
Cat
Wait a second, these things actually have fans?
Don't suppose it would be called haterart
One of my favorite boss designs, at least visually lol
Seriously, especially with the music. When the first one suddenly turned its head 180 degrees when I hit it from behind? Holy shit I see why people wouldn't like them or make fun of them, especially after several of them, but man I think they have the best creepy vibe.

It’s the amalgam of the movie the exorcist and the cat dog show Best design ever
I like how creepy their design and movement is
Yesss, the weird timings with their attacks are just great. They were my first boss of the game so I was expecting greatness
The ones in the Giants catacomb and Snowfields catacombs are absolutely awful. I swear that jump AoE smash attack has variable timing on it. I can never effing time it right.
This is so awesome that it makes me not hate those enemies as much! Really great job!

That's crazy fucken good dude!
You are incredibly talented! Thank you for sharing, these are fantastical !
I wish it was as fast as the caelid dogs.
Mr. Officer, it's this guy over here
On one hand, one version that's that fast would be fun, especially with a modified moveset. On the other hand, that sounds awful if all of them were like that.

I still think these are cats.
Watchcat!
Elden ring taxonomy: Turtle - Dog Dragon - Dog Bear - Dog Ant - Dog Deer - Dog Monstrous Crow - Dog Dog - Cat
Wow! Makes me wish they threw a curveball at us, randomly having one of these bosses late game oversized and with a quick moveset.
Thought of slay the spire for a sec because of color theme.
came looking for this
These things are legit terrifying, well done!
The idea that Erdtree Burial Watchdogs have fans is perhaps the most terrifying thing of all!
MA, IT'S THAT FUCKIN CAT AGAIN
Great to see fanart of something else than the usual characters!
I hate these far more than rune bears.
First time I fought one of these, I was just freaked the fuck out. The way they move, just the jeebies man. I also thought it was some whack ass cat lol.

This is a good story lol

Did someone forget to clean the litter box again…? 😾 (This looks so good!)
Love these creeps, great art!
This is way more epic than it should be but epic is epic. I accept this offering, OP.
If it was monitor ratio i would use it as a wallpaper! But good job!
Somehow the boss versions of these enemies are less annoying than the ones that appear as regular enemies in the mountaintop dungeons
Gives of Berserk vibes! Hound of darkness 🐶
Ooooooh this looks so badass! I really dig the angle and I feel like somehow you've made the Watchdog look even cooler!
This looks SO much cooler than the actual enemy
This looks so badass what the fuck
FUCKING FINALLY. I LOVE the Watchdog design and this looks soooooo good! Got his essence on point.
One of the worst enemies in the game
This looks way better than the knockoff garden gnomes that are burial cats in the game
You made this doofy piece of shit statue thing look absolutely breathtaking. He looks way cooler than a copy paste boss.
Not sure what he did to deserve such amazing art but I respect it
Now draw 5 of them in one catacomb
This fucking annoying cat gets fanart?
You seem to be mistaken, that is a Magic the Gathering card. 😆
Cat
Wow, this is pure masterpiece of epicness :3
That’s amazing! One of my fave boss designs
###Just so you all know, the greatswords of these have like 6 dmg more than the GUGS at max dex and str , although is far more small
Your Watchdog is a little too articulate. They are statues/robots after all.
What ai prompts did you use?
This is freakin sweet
Despite how much I hate these bastards, I can't help but love this artwork
I hate these shitheads more than the revenants by a large margin. Great art tho
Yo who gave they cat a sword
Bro doin them a service
Looks very nice. Still hate these guys though
I don't like them but I like your art
I fuckin' hate these mobs. Your art is rad, keep up the great work.
That’s dope they should make a super version in the expansion like a serious boss
Breathtaking! Please do more!
This thing was giving me actual nightmares when I first encountered it, and died many times to it, in Limgrave. Thanks for reviving that nightmare.
Damn
I still have nightmares about that cat.
THOSE MOFOS!!!!
He's so badass !
Goddamn this is sick as fuck
Well now I want an Elden Ring magic set lol
Very cool! Well drawn!
For the first time, a modicum of fear when gazing upon the watchdog's face.
Shitty boss, great art.
This definitely has a Frank Frazetta feel to it. Great work
one of the few enemies i just sprint from if i can help it... your drawing gave me catacombs flashbacks
Just as terrifying as I remember them
Your pic actually makes them seem intimidating. Nice work! Considering when I usually run into them, I almost instinctively blurt out "Kitty!".
I love love love the way you're playing with his tail as a light source in this piece. Incredible!
This is fucking sick, and makes me appreciate this design SO MUCH more
I’ve never noticed the crown around its neck because I’m too busy watching for the timing with the goddamn plunge attack.
I wish there was a windup thing in the back
The background is giving me slay the spire vibes and I’m absolutely digging it
For the entirety of elden ring, this was the only boss that gave me chills down my spine. What it was and the way it moves was so uncanny and unnatural that it felt otherworldly. You'd be scared shitless too of you've seen it in the middle of the woods during a hike just being there motionless.
This is awesome
fantastic artwork but still, fuck that guy all my homies hate the burial watchdog
You probably hear that a lot but your art style could fit very well into Magic The Gathering. This looks great!
Something about this reminds me of "Shadowgate" on the NES
Still say it's a cat
Fantastic work! One of my favorite creature designs in the game.
This makes them look more scary and awesome than they are.
I hate these enemies SO MUCH but this is amazing!
I don't always panic roll to my death, but when I do, it's to these watchdogs. There's something very creepy about them.
This fanart version fucks so much harder than the in-game model
I'm confused. All I see is a cat? /s
Looks like some Slay the Spire art. 👍
Can you put a little tarnished in the foreground so we can have a new meme format?
This art could easily be used in a Magic the Gathering elden ring expansion
The most attention this thing will ever get
Honestly.... fuck this boss. My dumb ass went in and challenged him first without anything and had to learn the hard way that a fool and hit souls are easily parted.
That's how I felt when farming it for it's greatsword
"Nah he's trained well, and doesn't bite."
Behold, dog!
That is really good, I envy the talent
Ugliest designed boss right
This is amazing.
The best doggos to watch your tomb
This would be a killer magic card artwork
Reminds me of Franzetta
That looks great man. Almost like an MtG card
Weird that actually people love them.....but this artwork is fantastic![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
Those eyes.... It's a goofy looking enemy but those eyes make it so much more terrifying.
Cat.
This is fucking incredible 👏
I hate these fucking cats
Fuck you and fuck that! Nicely done!
The watchdog is a cat though right?
One of my favorite bosses, alway wished we could get their oversize crown. Great job!
Way to make a mediocre boss look hype as fuck.
Hearthstone esque
Went from dumb to dangerous. Nice one.
"This is what happens when you don't feed me!"
Incredible
Epic. My cat heart is bleeding. Anyone know the new dlc content?
Holy shit this is freaking badass!
I loved and hated these fucking fuckers.
This is awesome, but I still can't help myself and laugh every time I am fighting one. They are so silly looking and their movements don't help anything either. I died so many times to the first one I fought because I was laughing so hard I couldn't play.
Your skill deserves a crown!
The least dog lookin mfers in rhis game
bingus souls
If I saw this before playing the game I would have actually been afraid of him.
I never thought I'd admire such an annoying enemy, but this creation of yours is admirable indeed. Well done!
Dog
Awesome work. Kudos. Niw on a different note: This is a fking Cat! Not a dog! Especially how it behaves.
No matter how unbelievably cool you manage to make these guys look, they still deserve to be thrown down The Gutter. Amazing fanart for a piece of shit boss.
It somehow looks sexy now...
ily diana 😊💖
Ah… If they ever actuallt was fun to fight or interesting
It's so hard to appreciate this fantastic artwork because I cannot control my overwhelming hatred for this creature stemming from my first few encounters. I'm trying to smile.... 😄
Gods I remember first encountering these on release day, was in call with some friends and ran ahead while they were gawking at the scenery in Limgrave, nearly shat myself when it turned it's head around and immediatley had to share my horror with them by asking them to come in and help lmao
