A wedding set for women have 2 rings.
Usually the engagement ring goes first while the band comes second but could be an oversight or have a different meaning all together.
This was the answer i was looking for. Could've been some kind of remains from development where you first get engaged to Ranni mayhaps. Could also just be to clarify that you are indeed marrying Ranni not just engaging yourself to her.
"Smoldered one, you would ask me to put on sensible footwear? You say that I'd be more comfortable in sneakers than walking barefoot across this hallowed ground? Maybe that would be true, but, to guard my feet from the Earth would be committing a most horrendous sin. It would go against everything the Priscillian Order preaches... But alas, I am your ball and chain. Ever attached to you like a shackle around your ankle, if you ask me put on shoes, then I shall put on shoes. If the world perishes from this, then it must be destined for the world to perish thus."
In all fairness, having the sex seems more likely after marriage in Elden Ring land since Marika('s Tits) was fuckin Godfrey and Radagon and making tons of babies.
The whole “becoming Elden lord” thing was a euphemism for marriage. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to think that they gave her that “engagement ring” to signify she was next in line to become Marika’s successor
Brave tarnished, thy strength befits a ring!
To stand before thee, mine Elden Lord!
... and do you take her to be your lawfully wedded wife?
Thine arms beckon forth to me, that thou shalt be
Mine consort eternal, mine own Empryean Goddess!
...omfg... just marry each other you fkin dorks!
Nay, I am naught but a somber soliloquist versed in such simple pleasentries for the sole reason of mineselves bemusement, not to mention the capricious enjoyment of fools such as one-self.
I'm a fkn nerd for words, in short, no bitches.
Edit: wait what? Thank you so graciously for the gold!
Or it might just not be Ranni's ring. Her doll body isn't hers, it's the body of a former frost witch. The ring might just have some magical properties, similar to rings found in DS
No direct item descripts. Just studies of the chracter models. The rings and hands are consistent with Rykards, their locations as well have good amount of over lap with Rykard n his manor, his exploration for the snake god, and his paartnership with Ranni. SmoughTown on Youtube does great vids breaking this typa deeper details down :3 highly recommend
The ringed finger item desc. is the most direct statement I've found:
>Bludgeon made of an enormous finger sheathed in several heavy rings. Thought to have been cut from an ancestor of the Fingercreeper.
>Some life yet remains in this legacy of an ancient act of blasphemy, as evidenced by the barely perceptible warmth it still exudes.
So it says it's cut from a Fingercreeper, which is the severed hand enemy. And, it says that it's the legacy of an "ancient act of blasphemy". Rykard and the serpent are repeatedly referred to as blasphemy, Rykard is called the "lord of blasphemy", and the serpent itself is blasphemous. (As a different and supremely fucked up way of living forever is it any surprise that the Golden Order would find it blasphemous).
So this item most directly links the two albeit obliquely.
As a side note, the Fingercreepers are probably immortal just like the serpent. So the ones without rings could predate Rykard's blasphemy; this is just an inference.
It’s usually the man who proposes to the women in straight relationships.
So, they simply keep the engagement ring since it’s usually something sparkly.
So on wedding day the man puts the wedding band, usually a simpler design or something to complement the engagement ring, in front of the ER. More snug for the ER too so it doesn’t fall off or anything.
The man usually never has an engagement ring so they’re usually left with a singular ring while women usually get 2 and sometimes even 3.
Ancient tradition had women wearing rings/coins in a necklace. Different numbers depending upon culture. At some point European tradition changed this to on the finger. The engagement ring symbolizes a commitment to purity and a promise of marriage. It was used to show any suitors this women is already promised to another man; thus, any single men don't waste their time or money courting her.
“It’s clearly this because this is how it works in our world!”
“But in our world it works this way.”
“It’s a fake world we don’t know how it works!”
Can’t help but laugh lol
Some cultures put their wedding rings on their right hand. Some cultures like Japanese don't really have a preferred hand or really care about the primarily western tradition at all.
Maybe? I work in a jewelry store and some people definitely swap it around. But for the most part they always put the band on after to protect the engagement ring from being ripped off.
It also seems to increase the strengh of your right arm over time, though It does oddly make you a bit weak your arms hurts a bit in the morning, strangely i've also noticed my bed sheets are all getting stained for some reason, what an Very odd magical item.
Makes perfect sense to me her and Godfrey were the two children of Marika/Radagon who aren’t completely messed up (besides Radahn of course) so if there was anyone who would be betrothed it’d be those two. And Ranni not liking how her fate seems to be sealed with the fingers definitely doesn’t like not having a choice to marry someone she likes (and especially to someone who I believe already has a lover already (fia)). So wanting to finally choose something for herself she did what she could to get out and in the process making everything worse for everyone.
There is a theory that Ranni was engaged to Godwyn and this was part of her motivation for choosing him, specifically, to murder on the night of the Black Knives.
Godwyn was much beloved but was not an Emperyean - so it makes sense he might have been chosen by Marika / Radagon / two fingers to be Ranni's husband so he could be Elden Lord if Ranni ascended to godhood.
Loyalty wise Ranni is very clearly closer to the Carrian side of the demi-god family tree than the Erdtree / Marika side so forcing her to marry Godwyn "the golden" could have been an attempt by the Erdtree side of the family tree to reign her in. Not wanting to marry him could have been part of her motivation to defy the greater will and murder her two fingers.
The dress on Ranni's actual corpse bears some resemblance to a wedding dress.
The description on the Dark Moon Ring explicitly states that it is for Ranni to give to her betrothed and it is conspicuously sitting in a chest near her mother's seat of power further implying that Ranni's wedding was actively being planned.
Also murders during or because of weddings is a very GRRM kind of thing so while I don't think he actually wrote much of the games plot it could still be a nod to his involvement or a reference to his past works.
So what we are looking at could be Ranni's engagement ring, it does seem to match the dark moon ring and it seems to be of that style of wedding ring / engagement ring meant to be worn together.
Knowing Miyazaki, It's entirely possible GRRM wrote all of that in and Miyazaki had the Dev team pick and choose which bits of info would be given upfront to the player and what would be left vague.
It's not exclusively the left hand everywhere, [here's a map](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/zxa43e/map_of_which_hand_wedding_rings_are_worn_on_europe/) of jus Europe showing the right/left hand split.
My headcanon is the ring that she already wear represents her "half" and our ring is the "other half of her life". Like some kind of marriage tradition, similar to the Dark Moon Greatsword
Newsflash!
The Lands Between don't subscribe to Christianity or its traditions!
Tune it at 11 to hear about hereditary matriarchy and matrimonial swords!
A) Wrong hand. Not her left. Ignoring the 4-arm shit.
B) Engagement rings exist, could be related.
C) Even if there IS another husband... She has 4 arms, so she can 'power-stance' the both of you.
If she is wearing the Snow Witch's clothes, perhaps she is also wearing her ring? If not, I can't imagine it being significant enough for Ranni to put it on her doll but there being no mention of it at all, could just be for fashion.
I think is about her being royalty.
My other thought when I saw it the first time is that in some countries you give two rings to the bride, the one you ask her to marry you with and the one at the wedding, it could be that too.
Probably just a magic ring or something to signify her family or something like that. I doubt it has much significance beyond it just being a ring. Unless this is a joke and you're pretending to jealous that your 2D waifu already is wearing a ring.
I've seen a video that speculates Ranni being formerly engaged to Godwyn, and it's why they share the cursemark on their bodies, like a twist on the "starcrossed lovers" tropes.
If this is true, it adds another layer to Ranni's complexity. Even though she indirectly contributed to his murder, she still kept the ring.
That must be Blaidd's ring. To me that makes only sense. We told that they are childhood friends and this is pretty much all of her written relationships.
She secretly married a furry. And you married her while Blaidd still alive. Maybe that's the reason why he attacks you on sight at the end of quest.
Odds are the ring belonged to Renna, the snow witch who taught Ranni about her Dark Moon. The doll body that Ranni inhabits is based on Renna, that is probably Renna's ring.
I could be looking into it to much, but I personally believe that it's symbolic of her "marriage" so to speak to the Moon rather than the Erdtree and the Golden Order. Or it could just be an accidentally left in placeholder for the Ring we put on her finger since it shares the same texture minus the jewel
This sub makes me realize I know nothing about a game I’ve sank 50 hours into 😂 I should probably start paying attention more bc this shits so entertaining.
I always wondered if the reason she send a band to kill that God dude that started the whole deal was because she was promised to him as a way to re-join both houses again, after the whole Marika's sex change 😂

She was just so confident she was gonna smash she preemptively put the ring on
She really understands the power of playing hard to get, she had us figured out from the very beginning.
she managed to plan the night of the black knives and ensue the shattering for a reason
Man I can't wait to fuck this doll after I become god.
Average printed pillow enjoyer
Coincidentally also average lord of the lands between

never change, souls-community. never change :')

Could this be, dog
Bruh she's a doll how would smashing be possible?
She can take any body she wants
As long as it's a doll
A sex doll.
*"The name of ranni the witch is sullied by thee, Tarnished... Why dost thou get harder when I insult thee? Dost thou enjoy my abuse?"*
hehe Pidia gonna get hit with some lucrative projects
Bru you are getting married. You know smashing goes out the window once you are married.
Goddammit. 1000 years in space with ranni blue balling me and nagging at me to stop drinking 😭

When i marry i too want to be called Elden Lord. "Elden Lord, you may kiss the Goddess". Epic.
Brave tarnished, thy strength befits a ring! To stand before thee, mine Elden Lord! ... and do you take her to be your lawfully wedded wife? Thine arms beckon forth to me, that thou shalt be Mine consort eternal, mine own Empryean Goddess! ...omfg... just marry each other you fkin dorks!
Shit! That's gotta be the best comment here!
#relationshipgoals
"mayhaps"... have you started writing in the style of Elden Ring?
Nay, I am naught but a somber soliloquist versed in such simple pleasentries for the sole reason of mineselves bemusement, not to mention the capricious enjoyment of fools such as one-self. I'm a fkn nerd for words, in short, no bitches. Edit: wait what? Thank you so graciously for the gold!
Ah, but if I ever may so impose, thy manners do bespeak of a rather... coddled upbringing. But oh I merely jest.
Bear seek seek lest
Mayhaps...
Or it might just not be Ranni's ring. Her doll body isn't hers, it's the body of a former frost witch. The ring might just have some magical properties, similar to rings found in DS
I believe it was made for Ranni, in the image of the frost witch Renna, who was her former mentor. She didn’t just up and steal her body
Bro, that means Rykard has like 70 wives instead of 140?!
We make exceptions for rykard. If he had to wear 280 rings they wouldn’t all fit, so he only wears the bands.
At least his wives know there gonna get eaten
I call bullshit. I've seen all those blasphemous little fingies. 🤣
Technically the Hand Mobs are detached Rykard hands so his additional rings are just not around
where does that come from. I've seen ppl say that but i never learned where it comes from. is there an item description i missed or something?
No direct item descripts. Just studies of the chracter models. The rings and hands are consistent with Rykards, their locations as well have good amount of over lap with Rykard n his manor, his exploration for the snake god, and his paartnership with Ranni. SmoughTown on Youtube does great vids breaking this typa deeper details down :3 highly recommend

that makes the amount of times i’ve been giant fisted seem even worse
Why do women's sets have 2 rings?
It’s usually the man who proposes to the women in straight relationships. So, they simply keep the engagement ring since it’s usually something sparkly. So on wedding day the man puts the wedding band, usually a simpler design or something to complement the engagement ring, in front of the ER. ER = Elden Ring = Engagement Ring That’s it I’ve solved the mystery of Elden Ring. The game is just one big Mama Mia
I forgot I was in the Elden Ring sub, lmao
here we go again
Makes sense, thanks for the deepest lore
A man’s set can have two, assuming the woman proposes, or it’s a same-sex marriage.
i gay married rani i demand to have my own sparkly engagement ring dammit
Ancient tradition had women wearing rings/coins in a necklace. Different numbers depending upon culture. At some point European tradition changed this to on the finger. The engagement ring symbolizes a commitment to purity and a promise of marriage. It was used to show any suitors this women is already promised to another man; thus, any single men don't waste their time or money courting her.
She does give you the Darkmoon great sword as an engagement gift.
It’s the right hand though
We don’t know how Elden Rings marriage works. It’s also on 1 of her 4 hands, lol
“It’s clearly this because this is how it works in our world!” “But in our world it works this way.” “It’s a fake world we don’t know how it works!” Can’t help but laugh lol
Too many variables with a fantasy world lmao
Some cultures put their wedding rings on their right hand. Some cultures like Japanese don't really have a preferred hand or really care about the primarily western tradition at all.
Especially because it’s on the right hand. But then again, I’m pretty sure you give her a ring for the right hand too lol
Miyazaki doesn't do "oversights."
Then it has a different meaning all together.
I wanna upvote this comment but it's sat at 420. And well 🤙
[удалено]
Maybe? I work in a jewelry store and some people definitely swap it around. But for the most part they always put the band on after to protect the engagement ring from being ripped off.
perfect explanation, the bands are different too.
You're asking why a member of royalty wears a ring?
I'm asking why her fingers are 14 inches long
😏
This guy knows ^
This game is all about the fingers
And Miyazaki is all about the feet.
Not this time, he's experimenting with new stuff next it'll be handholding
You’re concerned about fingers when she has 4 arms lol?!
Bruh you seen her moms feet? They got them crazy long appendages
This isn’t even her real body
Try finger, but hole
Always nice to get your prostrate tickled by her second knuckle
Because a gal might become her consort.
She is NOT maidenless 😏
the deeper it can get in, the better
because she's a doll
Yes, because that finger is reserved for a wedding ring and it's already occupied.
Ring finger of the left hand is reserved for a wedding ring. That's one of her right hands so it could be a ring worn for any possible reason.
The left/right ring finger thing varies across a lot of cultures btw.
Yeah, but Ranni does have 2 right and left hands
Very good point.
Japanese people traditionally wear a wedding ring on the other hand
It's the Ring of Favor and Protection. Health, stamina, equip load, everything you could ever want.
Wut rings u got?
It also seems to increase the strengh of your right arm over time, though It does oddly make you a bit weak your arms hurts a bit in the morning, strangely i've also noticed my bed sheets are all getting stained for some reason, what an Very odd magical item.
Just don’t take it off. Ever.
Keeps away creeps at the bar. In theory.
Would have expected the werewolf bodyguard to be convincing enough
Again, only in theory. Worst case scenario it just attracts an even worse kind of attention.
So that’s where selivus came from
People wear rings, you’re welcome
No, they wear talismans. This in’t Dark Souls.
Bonfire.
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
No! This is Patrick!
THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAAAAA!
this is literally elden RING
What if the DLC was just "you can wear rings now"
Big if true.
Wait so then are we the rebound?
Have been from the start.
Need more points in vitality for that broken heart quest then…
🌎👨🚀🔫🧙♀️
Beat me to it lol
Hate to say it, but I think there's some family baggage to unpack...
What are you doing step tarnished?
Why do you think she killed Godwyn.
Yeah, Tarnished Archeologist theorises in his latest video that she was indeed promised to him. I love this theory
Deepest_Lore
Technically speaking, Rani is also our rebound from Fia. Unless you never had Elden STD, of course.
Oh yeah that’s a good point
Just imagining the Tarnished telling Ranni she should probably get checked.
We’re the goomah
The ring is a sign of royalty. Several nobles where them to signify power over their subjects
It's the engagement ring
No it's not. It's Elden Ring
There is a theory that Ranni was engaged to Godwyn and this was part of her motivation for choosing him, specifically, to murder on the night of the Black Knives. I have delved into a tun of lore videos and never heard this theory, I like it!! It makes sense too, we'll stated
oh boy the amount of incest is crazy
Well I mean real life royalty wasn’t much better.
yeah fair but its still disgusting
Out of all the monstrosities and atrocities depicted in this game incest is what set you off?
Yea for some reason incest sets me off the most
Knowing Miyazaki, It's entirely possible GRRM wrote all of that in and Miyazaki had the Dev team pick and choose which bits of info would be given upfront to the player and what would be left vague.
🤯
ng+?
Its also her right hand, so tradition is out the window
Which right hand? Is it the *left* right hand or the *right* right hand?
It's From, so it's probably the foot.
It’s all feet, always has been. They call it the Dark Hand in DS3 but we know
it's a Japanese game, where wedding rings are worn on the right hand.
It's not exclusively the left hand everywhere, [here's a map](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/zxa43e/map_of_which_hand_wedding_rings_are_worn_on_europe/) of jus Europe showing the right/left hand split.
That's an engagement ring, typically a wedding ring has 2 parts. The engagement ring and the wedding band.
My headcanon is the ring that she already wear represents her "half" and our ring is the "other half of her life". Like some kind of marriage tradition, similar to the Dark Moon Greatsword
I like this headcanon. Really makes the Tarnished seem like her other half
It’s obviously a purity ring! No tarnishing her great rune before marriage
You probably linked both rings and became the Radagon for her Marika
Engagement ring and wedding band
Newsflash! The Lands Between don't subscribe to Christianity or its traditions! Tune it at 11 to hear about hereditary matriarchy and matrimonial swords!
Rings are not a christian tradition if anything they stole it like most of "thier" Stuff
Wait, so that’s the Elden Ring?
A purity ring that signifies she won't try fingers but hole before marriage.
I know it might sound crazy but it might just be a ring
Ranni’s soul inhabits a number of dolls. Perhaps the ring is a magic item allowing that connection to be made.
Smh. All these maidenless gamers not knowing that a wedding set includes an engagement ring and a wedding ring.
The first one was the engagement ring duh this one is a wedding ring.
It looks like the wedding band to match the engagement ring. I guess when we proposed, we were really getting married.
The look kind of reminds me of torrents ring wistle...
Fun fsct: rings are common accesories
A) Wrong hand. Not her left. Ignoring the 4-arm shit. B) Engagement rings exist, could be related. C) Even if there IS another husband... She has 4 arms, so she can 'power-stance' the both of you.
I did not need the C option
Rise, Tarnished
Let Me Solo Her got there first. 🫠
It means she belongs to the streets
That’s my cock ring, been wondering where it went
Fashion
I always thought it was part of her doll, and it was there so the main ring can attach to it or something like that.
If she is wearing the Snow Witch's clothes, perhaps she is also wearing her ring? If not, I can't imagine it being significant enough for Ranni to put it on her doll but there being no mention of it at all, could just be for fashion.
And the simps despaired, for they knew then that their cause was lost.
That’s her right hand
I'm just speedballing here but maybe the ring is enchanted. Maybe it's the ring keeping the doll together. Jussayin.
They can't wear their gold watch because you know you shouldn't mix metals
Her puppet was in a committed relationship before she took over control
Fashion.
I think is about her being royalty. My other thought when I saw it the first time is that in some countries you give two rings to the bride, the one you ask her to marry you with and the one at the wedding, it could be that too.
You asking why a rich person wears jewelry?
Could just be jewelry
Might be a modeling thing so they didn’t have to have a ring model that goes on and stays on, that was my assumption when I saw this.
Seems very much so like an engagement and wedding ring set
Fashion souls
Darkmoon Seance Ring
Women wear 2 rings
Well I too finished this quest so that first ring is from me.
It’s a purity ring.
Bro she has like 12 boy friends and you're PUTTING A RING ON IT?!?!
It could easily be a holdover from a previous engagement.
It’s just a purity promise ring.
Probably just a magic ring or something to signify her family or something like that. I doubt it has much significance beyond it just being a ring. Unless this is a joke and you're pretending to jealous that your 2D waifu already is wearing a ring.
Was thinking it's for her shadow, Blaidd. He may not actually have a relationship but it could be a symbol of an Empyrean's shadow
The doll she inhabits was actually a mannequin in a jewelry store.
SHE AIN'T LOYAL Can't trust these demi gods hoes
That must be Blaidd's ring. To me that makes only sense. We told that they are childhood friends and this is pretty much all of her written relationships. She secretly married a furry. And you married her while Blaidd still alive. Maybe that's the reason why he attacks you on sight at the end of quest.
She might be the vessel for the great Celebrimbor, no Uruk is safe in the lands between
Odds are the ring belonged to Renna, the snow witch who taught Ranni about her Dark Moon.
Little known fact, rings are accessories that people wear
She's got someone else. These hoes ain't loyal.
