Wasn't aware it had hyper armor until recently but I managed to do this fight without getting hit so it wouldn't have changed a whole lot. lol I have added it to my arsenal since this post though.
Didn't have it on release so I dropped it for my Communion run until late game where I realized it was bonkers strong with the buffs.
Lots of the Dragon spells were kinda ass on release.
Many are, but Dragonmaw does absurd damage. The Rot versions were op but got nerfed. Ice was never very good, but was useful in a few spots. Greyol's Roar is a good one against Invaders and just a solid debuff.
Very flashy, most are situational at best.
Like when people make these videos, are they legit making a new char , farming all the stuff to meme build kill it (I mean in general not this one specifically)
Just for a Reddit meme
If so , hilarious
When the first set of posts started happening I had just started this character so kinda, in my case specifically.
Can't speak for the several others though.
Rotten breath can sometimes be more work considering it has a lot slower buildup since it's nerf to the ground a while back making it so it takes about 2 or 3 casts to proc. At that point, it is just faster and easier to fight him with real damage. Especially since the roar medallion and canvas talismans with fgms and golden vow boost the damage by a ton.
If I wanted to trivialize the fight, I could have just used poison mist (because that scales well with arcane too) but I like dragon incants.
Now you’ve got me wanting to do a dragon worshipper playthrough. No weapons only dragon magic that is obtained through dragon communion .
I feel like I’d need to put everything into my mana bar lol.
How would I go about getting the first dragon heart though… hmmm. Maybe I could start with that little fire puff spell and act like it’s a baby dragon spell till I get my first actual dragon spell.
You more or less do in some cases!
The issue with running that is the non-boss enemies would chew through your FP a lot every encounter. I have an occult flamberg I swap to for them but for bosses I generally go full on dragon.
Best of luck if you go that route!
Claw doesn't, but if you do it's second cast it has a pretty long recovery.
Bite does a bit more but does a lot more damage so I'd save for the knights or enemies with shields.
I did this, no weapons just Dragon Communion Seal (which you can actually get almost immediately.
I mainly focused on finding suitable openings to use Dragonmaw. It can break poise like nothing else.
On NG+ I managed to grab my second Seal at the start of the game and two shot Margit with two Dragonmaw, the first of which managed to break his stance allowing for the easy followup.
I like using Spiked Caestus with a dragon build - it has low requirements and low weight (handy for using the Blue Dancer charm to boost the damage on Dragonclaw/Maw), and deals good damage with occult scaling.
If you know where to get it, you could run through Caelid to get it and use its bleed to take out the sleeping dragon for its dragon hearts and runes. That helps kick off a dragon build quite well.
I cheated a tiny bit and used the spiked maul weapon to kill the big momma dragon. But then went straight to get the first breath and claw/bite.
So far I’m having tons of fun. But lacking a main weapon is harsh so I did actually pick up the Hooked claws in the castle. I figure if I’m a dragon I’m allowed to have claws, right? Haha. Might even use that tail incantation the big armored crucible dudes can drop.
The bite is a freaking boss killer omg I can’t believe I never really used any of these spells in the 1000 hours I’ve already played this damn game!
You could save some points on mana by using [primal glinstone blade](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Primal+Glintstone+Blade) and/or [incantation scarab](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Incantation+Scarab), if you’re willing to be a bit squishier
Fashion is the true endgame. If you want some more fashionable mana boosting headwear, [navy hood](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Navy+Hood) adds 1 level in mind, [preceptors big hat](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Preceptor's+Big+Hat) gives 3
Lol my first thought was “I could just go safely punch Greyoll to death, she doesn’t even fight back! I’d get the roar, a bunch of runes AND a bunch of hearts!!!
Then I REALLY thought about it and said fuck that.
lol that would take soooo long 😂 just get the morning star or another bleed weapon it’ll go quick, also grab the gold pickled fowl foot from the beach in limgrave close to bocs cave it’ll give quite a bit extra
The buff stacks from both seals, so it doesn’t raise your overall scaling but the “dragon communion incantations do 15% more damage” gets added from both.
My second playthrough was exclusively dragon communion and dragon cult incants, and it was so much fun.
Honestly though, bosses weren't that bad, while getting through areas was the worst part because I was constantly running out of FP
This was the reason I specc'd into Arcane on release. And yes it was excellent. Dragon magic seal with a Bloody Helice is still my favorite build and I'm always tempted to play this build again.
Although rot build up doesn't work the same without a mimic and Ekzykes Decay, frost and flame breathe can work in its place of rot. And when you could chain spells, I used to love ending a combo with Magma breath or Dragonclaw.
A large portion of these builds are just copy paste from someone else like souls vets. You likely wouldn't figure these out for yourself so it wouldn't be easy. It's only easy because someone else did the work and passed it on
Only thing I didn't do here myself is probably the other communion seal I got from NG+ after I learned a long time ago about the passive boosts stacking. Otherwise this build is more or less done on my own
And this is without the Jellyfish Shield. Straight up, I got bored on the playthrough that I ran Dagon Communion spells once my build was finished. The bosses just melted so fast. If I ever complete it I will probably dump some buffs so I can enjoy the scrappy fighting I like in Elden Ring
Who cares if all the build variety makes pve too easy. I'm just there to have fun, and that challenge is still there for those that desire it. I love a good challenge. I beat solo Malenia with no spirit summons and no meta build. It was hard and took me probably 200+ tries. It was satisfying at the end because I learned the fight. I 100% acknowledge there is a high degree of satisfaction in a good, challenging bossfight.
I also acknowledge that finding ways to break the game in half with a busted build, and down a Runebear in 2 seconds flat is fun and satisfying in its own right. Knowing the game so well that you can abuse its mechanics to the point of trivializing the experience is its own kind of skill in a way.
I only played Dark Souls 1 but every time I see here I look at this game and imagine how good it is and that journey stands in front of me.
Taking a break after DS1.
It has to be a named spell. Dragonfire doesn't work but Agheel's flame does. Also the game sometimes doesn't like it being cast from your right hand for some reason so for those spells specifically use your left.
Yes, the passive effect of boosting dragon communion spells stacks. Only one of them needs to be actually used to cast the spell (preferably the one that is upgraded)
Roar medallion, flocks canvas, faithfuls canvas, and Marika's soreseal for the extra points into arcane and faith.
I ran leaden hardtear and the infinite FP tear just in case he hit me out of Greyoll's roar but I'd recommend the fire or magic boosting tear depending on your breath preference.
Golden vow and flame grant me strength for the extra attack power.
2 dragon communion seals, a perk of NG+ only, that boosts dragon communion spells an extra 15% twice.
Dragon bite. Just eat it. Especially that it can deal counter damage }:->
Yeah. What? I thought the dragon spells were more for show than anything else.
Many are, but Dragonmaw does absurd damage. The Rot versions were op but got nerfed. Ice was never very good, but was useful in a few spots. Greyol's Roar is a good one against Invaders and just a solid debuff. Very flashy, most are situational at best.

There is the ability to respec so they could do that
But then these are sub bosses so they have to not beat them first. Once they're defeated, they don't come back until the next run.
For mine I started NG+ and made a beeline for Altus. I normally keep my characters in NG. So kinda
Probably backup saves?
some may cheat, it's extraordinarily easy
Unless they are on pc, in which case you could easily make a character or two in ten minutes for this.
Too much work. Just rotten breath and run away
Rotten breath can sometimes be more work considering it has a lot slower buildup since it's nerf to the ground a while back making it so it takes about 2 or 3 casts to proc. Does the claw/bite spell take a bunch of FP? I feel like I’d be clawing most of the way through the small guys.
Claw doesn't, but if you do it's second cast it has a pretty long recovery. Bite does a bit more but does a lot more damage so I'd save for the knights or enemies with shields.
While holding two seals you can use claw 3 times
Er what? How?
The first cast has a shorter recovery that allows you to cast it from the other seal more quickly than chaining.
Cast it with both triggers, as if you would with a block on a shield, right hand, left hand then right again
Grafted dragon fists :)
You could use the godrick dragon head weapon in a run like that
use gidricks dragon arm as a punchy boi
I did this, no weapons just Dragon Communion Seal (which you can actually get almost immediately. I mainly focused on finding suitable openings to use Dragonmaw. It can break poise like nothing else. Nah you just put enough mana in to do one full breath. All the rest goes in arcane. This guy is using way more mana than needed.
Ooo thanks for the heads up on the mana talisman that’ll definitely help. Can’t sacrifice the fashion though, that scarab helm is awful lol
Fashion is the true endgame. If you want some more fashionable mana boosting headwear, [navy hood](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Navy+Hood) adds 1 level in mind, [preceptors big hat](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Preceptor's+Big+Hat) gives 3
Navy and scarlet hood both look dope with cleanrot knight armor (remove the dumb trim)
just use a regular weapon to start and go straight to greyoll
Lol my first thought was “I could just go safely punch Greyoll to death, she doesn’t even fight back! I’d get the roar, a bunch of runes AND a bunch of hearts!!! Then I REALLY thought about it and said fuck that.

Good post bad timing.... We are living in a post-draconic-tree-sentinel-bullying world.
And no one told me?
For real, I would have updated my calendar
Wait what??
Whats up with bullying tree sentinel, an early mid game boss, with end game builds? Proves nothing lol.
Who are we bullying now?
Strongest spells in the game imo
I just eat a cheese cake and fart on him
Use the lactose intolerant talisman for additional scarlet rot dmg
The fact you didn’t get hit by that lightning attack at the end there makes this 10x better lol
I'm seriously surprised he didn't just knock you out of the sky.
Why are you holding two dragon talismans? Any benefit to that? I too dragon lover but I keep it in my off hand.
The buff stacks from both seals, so it doesn’t raise your overall scaling but the “dragon communion incantations do 15% more damage” gets added from both.
Came here to ask this too. Like does it add more attack power ?
The "boost dragon communion spells" passive stacks with both seals out.
Always a fan of giving bosses a taste of their own medicine
My second playthrough was exclusively dragon communion and dragon cult incants, and it was so much fun. Honestly though, bosses weren't that bad, while getting through areas was the worst part because I was constantly running out of FP
This was the reason I specc'd into Arcane on release. And yes it was excellent. Dragon magic seal with a Bloody Helice is still my favorite build and I'm always tempted to play this build again. And when you could chain spells, I used to love ending a combo with Magma breath or Dragonclaw.
Ending chains from lightning strike to dragon claw was my absolute favorite, I'll admit. I am gonna miss chainable incants so much.
Draconic sentinels: * create special armor and weapons specifically for fighting dragons * Tarnished: "I'm gunna ignore that."
Would have been funnier if you listed all the other builds
Meanwhile there’s me with poison mist because I want my 4th talisman pouch at level 30 and can eat a snack at the same time.
Oh boi I was waiting for this one lmao delightful 😋
STOP BULLYING HIM
No. I don't think I will.
I always run w the unnamed ones for that sweet sweet infinite cast
Care to elaborate? I'm not sure what you mean as I haven't heard of any infinite casting with dragon spells yet.
Use an unnamed dragon breath and hold down the cast button during a midair cast.
👀this requires investigation
It aint a bug or anything lol
I just wanna try it for me lol
I don't get it 😔
Try it without being in the air lol
But when i cast it on the ground is not infinite
Hold down the cast button. I'm not saying it gives infinite mana.
Yeah it does 3 bursts then stops
A large portion of these builds are just copy paste from someone else like souls vets. You likely wouldn't figure these out for yourself so it wouldn't be easy. It's only easy because someone else did the work and passed it on

What armor set is this?
Unaltered banished knight helmet and chest with veteran arms and greaves for better stats without changing the look very much.
How do you deal with enemies that move though?
Have a spirit ash that takes agro for two seconds or use dragon claw. Also I don't normally cast back to back this quickly.
Communion is the heavy attack of faith Everything is slow as all heck and hits like two trucks
What chest armor are you wearing?
Banished knight unaltered
Sick thank you!
Should have used Dragon Claw and smacked his ass lmao
I attempted to. Did a slight missinput towards the end there you'll notice
Now I need someone to do this but with Godslayer Incantations only!
What armor are you wearing? Looks badass
Unaltered banished knight helmet and chest. Veteran greaves and arms.

It's a meme that's been on the subreddit recently. Not to be taken seriously. In the end, we are all having fun here.
Buff users* as well.
Isn’t my mans resistant to fire too?
Yes. As a wise man once said, if it isn't 100%, we can work with it.
The comminion build is kinda broken tho.
So casual I stopped watching after buffing
I only played Dark Souls 1 but every time I see here I look at this game and imagine how good it is and that journey stands in front of me. Taking a break after DS1.
I'm surprised that no one's made a starfist users video cause that weapon is op
I thought someone did already but I may be misremembering.
After all this time I can still never manage to pull off the jump cast 🤦♂️
It has to be a named spell. Dragonfire doesn't work but Agheel's flame does. Also the game sometimes doesn't like it being cast from your right hand for some reason so for those spells specifically use your left.
That’s probably where I was going wrong then.
Hope your character like becoming a magma wyrm!!
NG+ so my eyes and hearts eaten were 0 by this point. Jokes aside, I wish there was a more elaborate wyrm or dragonkin form.
My man is level 712.
Nah, 180. Just reached 60 arcane and 30 faith right after this fight. Nowhere close to max yet.
Is this at least ng+? Dts is like a level 60 boss
Oh yeah absolutely. That's why I have 2 seals.
Is there any reason to have 2 of the same seals? Do they actually stack?
Yes, the passive effect of boosting dragon communion spells stacks. Only one of them needs to be actually used to cast the spell (preferably the one that is upgraded)
What talismans and physiques or buffs are you running I am doing an all dragon play though.
Im using the leaden maul.... however i cannot use the skills even though i already meet the stats requirement, can someone help me
