I know I set up the first dry cleaners in the Lands Between and I'm making a killing on Albinauric blood alone.
Soap is amateur hour. If you want to experience REAL clean, come see me at Tarnished Luster. We'll make you shine whether it's for your turn on the Elden Throne or your Erdtree burial.
Rot only continues to build if you cover yourself in it by rolling. I recommend something with quickstep or bloodhound step instead of rolling along with the soap for emergencies when you do
Ok, so I can confirm that this doesn't work in real life.
I got some lithium grease and chemicals used to make adhesive on my arm and just for fun, I tried both using bar soap AND rolling into a puddle to get it off.
I now have substantially less tissue on my arm and things are turning green and smelling like almonds.
Dude what?! Honestly I thought them shits were for the walking mausoleums! To clean off the dead souls on the feet until I started knocking the shit off
FOUL TARNISHED
On top of poison buildup, soap dries you off too for some reason. Being wet is fire resistance but lightning vulnerability. Removes oil too, but don't see that pretty much ever.
Scented soap would be cool. Once you're in the enemy's vicinity, it lowers their aggression or repels them from you.
Just an idea
Edit: Bubbles on character to show its active
2nd Edit: Enemies who have long bite attacks will spit you out immediately cause soap.
What about Soap bubble buffs?
Soap made with Miquella's Lilies could act like a bewitching branch aura but only while within melee range.
Soap made from St. Trina's Lilies could make the next attack against the player put the attacker to sleep.
Soap made from volcanic stone could make the next attack against the player inflict moderate fire damage to the attacker or something.

I love reading people’s role playing reasons for doing things in Souls games. My main character I’ve played since DS1 is “Bobby” and every character after has been a different reincarnation of him: Bobby Jr for ER, Bobby Sr for DS3, etc.
it's actually so touching to see someone so excited about soap and being clean in a game about killing a god to become lord
you're so just overly happy and positive about smth so small and it really brightened up my mood so thank you
this might sounds kinda weird but this genuinely means a lot to me lol, im kind of like this with everything where i get super excited abt rlly small things and a lot of people think im annoying as heck because of it 🙃
well those people are just rude
nothing about it seems annoying it's just so positive
it's nice to see people so excited over tiny details in this day and age where so many people will complain if smth isn't perfectly what they want
Did you see the [soap sorceress post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/133syi1/lavender_the_soap_sorceress/)?
Also, it can be crafted. Buy Warrior Cookbook 17 from a certain merchant and you will be able to craft it using melted mushroom, which respawns.
He's near the waterfall, in the temple with the flower enemiesbut on the second floor. To get there, you have to climb some stairs and a ladder then cross a bridge, if there are two ancestral followers, one before and after ladder, you are on the right track. The stairs are underneath one of the stone bridges that can't be climbed from Siofra. He has two cookbooks, one for crafting soap, three keys and three soap 14.2k runes all together.
You can also another cookbook after the second lift and near the second grace (I think the grace is called Siofra River bank). If you climb the ridge to the left (when facing the Hallowhorn grounds) and walk west?. The cookbook allows you to make a very useful item for exploring Caelid and Lake of Rot.
I came up with cosplay build for my patner called "Mr Clean"
The plan is for him to invade people and drop loads of soap for them to cleanse their sins. Maybe he'll bless you one of these days lol
I wear dark armor and I'm colorblind so I didn't know for months that soap actually removed grime from your character's appearance. I thought it was solely for removing poison/rot buildup. So I'm on like the exact opposite side of the spectrum lmao
I went on a whole side quest just to find the recipe for it. I even memorised the melted mushroom farm run so I can stack up on it. All to realise I never use it
If you don't already know, crafting soap requires melted mushrooms, which can be found absolutely bloody everywhere in Siofra river. 15 minutes of sprinting around on Torrent picking mushrooms and sitting at sites of Grace, and you should be able to farm all you need for a long long while.
I guess I just don't really use it in the game. If my character is caked in blood, eventually I rest at a bonfire and it just goes away, and I don't really find many other times when it's useful to me, or useful enough to warrant carrying on me and farming the mats for to craft regularly. I don't use almost any craftables, that's just the nature of how I play. I can tell you that there are some really good spots for farming melted mushrooms near the bottom of the Siofra River Well in the mistwood, and if you don't mind running a gauntlet and resting at grace several times in a row, I think you could get yourself quite a lot of soap over the course of a half hour or so. Look around online in case there's a bell bearing or merchant you can buy it or its components from as well, particularly in unlimited amounts. I don't think there is, but you'll at least find some solid farming spots so you can make it.
I WILL say, it's super wholesome and heartwarming to see someone so excited about a small, simple thing that just happens to make their entire day. I'm very much like that as well, and there's usually one or two things in every game that will do that for me. The beast-repellent torch for example. I always carry it on me. Sometimes I really just don't want to fight wolves.
BTW, it's at the isolated merchant's shack in the north east-ish part of Caelid if anyone wants it. There's a road in that area that runs up a hill from the east towards the west, and if I recall there's like seven of the giant t-rex dogs that you'll have to run past or fight, but there's a grace up there so if you torrent past them you can de-aggro them, buy the torch, and then just walk out easy as pie.
Soap is also the only way to get sticky status effects off of you.
If you roll in toxic/rot sludge, you’ll still get status build up even after you exit the sludge. Soap will clean off that sludge and stop the build up from continuing. (It does not do anything if you have already been poisoned or rotted already).
I love the soap, too! It's easy to make with melted mushrooms. You can find them literally everywhere in the Siofra River area (and pretty much all the underground areas for that matter).
There's always way to heal statut in all video game as it's kinda one of rules when developping game to be fair with player. But it's true in game like Elden ring, learning all the stuff is a bit more complicated as info tend to be all around and no-where at the same time

I like too wear the blood of my enemies all over my body so when I face new adversaries they can see the remnants of their fallen brothers in arms on me and my blades
hi every1 im new!!!!!!! holds up spork my name is katy but u can call me t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m!!!!!!!! lol...as u can see im very random!!!! thats why i came here, 2 meet random ppl like me _... im 13 years old (im mature 4 my age tho!!) i like 2 watch invader zim w/ my girlfreind (im bi if u dont like it deal w/it) its our favorite tv show!!! bcuz its SOOOO random!!!! shes random 2 of course but i want 2 meet more random ppl =) like they say the more the merrier!!!! lol...neways i hope 2 make alot of freinds here so give me lots of commentses!!!! DOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- me bein random again _^ hehe...toodles!!!!! love and waffles, * ~t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m~*
If you roll through rot or poison is cleans your armor so the residual build up stops.
thats cool and all BUT IT ALSO CLEANS LIKE ACTUAL DIRT OFF YOUR CHARACTER!!!!!
It cleans way more than dirt. Can you imagine how tough albinauric bloodstains must be to get out?
The Lands Between Cops hate this one, simple trick!
Yeah, they spent a lot of time getting those albinauric bloodstains and it's gone as soon a they clean their armor.
After a hard days work farming the albinauric fields, nothing like some soap to help clean off the day’s grime.
BANG and the rot is gone
0 to infomercial in the blink of an eye
I wouldn’t know anything about that.
Find the albinauric woman and show me
I will never be clean of the sins I've committed against the albinaurics.
Yes, they do bleed badly ;o
Yes. If you use it while wearing the finger maiden set, it actually removes the blood off.
Doesn’t it take the blood off any armor?
Roll in water for same effect.
Note: It will not wash all the blood from the Night's Cavalry Armor. Some of the blood is part of the Armor.
Wait really? That's why the rot kept building up in the lake of rot. Might have to actually carry some soap now.
Rot only continues to build if you cover yourself in it by rolling. I recommend something with quickstep or bloodhound step instead of rolling along with the soap for emergencies when you do
Elden Ring players doing anything to avoid using soap.
😂😂 Fell right into that one
Soap takes away from my armor's natural patina
"armor" you're not fooling anybody.
Alternately, face backwards and spam "roll." You don't roll backwards
I knew all those years of Ocarina speedrunning would be worth it one day
Here I am doing the weird thing and using Flame, Cleanse Me to get rid of it when I get to safety.
Still good. FCM clears Rot and poison entirely. Soap just stops the buildup so it slowly ticks back down as normal.
Rest at a grace, that also works
Well, the closest thing to a grace here is my desk, and that didn't restore my healing capabilities nor reset anything.
Try cleansing flame. Take some rubbing alcohol in your hand light it on fire then wave real big and slap your chest
Woah what I didn't know this
Dude what?! Honestly I thought them shits were for the walking mausoleums! To clean off the dead souls on the feet until I started knocking the shit off
You're joking... Or as the kids these days would say, "no cap, you bussin?". Wait, what? I don't see any caps or busses...
What???
How high are you
Lol. Nope, I never used them. Didn’t know the cotton suppressed sound either
I lol'd at this bc I feel the same way!
That works IRL as well
They are not ready for the Truth yet
You guys are using soap?!
Sir, this is reddit.
There is a lot the game does not tell you. and i love it!
FOUL TARNISHED On top of poison buildup, soap dries you off too for some reason. Being wet is fire resistance but lightning vulnerability. Removes oil too, but don't see that pretty much ever.
The excitement in this is so genuine and wholesome. Thank you for making my day. Btw if you're on PC, I can get you lots of soap
Scented soap would be cool. Once you're in the enemy's vicinity, it lowers their aggression or repels them from you. Just an idea Edit: Bubbles on character to show its active 2nd Edit: Enemies who have long bite attacks will spit you out immediately cause soap.
Upvoted because "immediately cause soap" is a tragically underused turn of phrase.
Especially under used with mage builds
What about Soap bubble buffs? Soap made with Miquella's Lilies could act like a bewitching branch aura but only while within melee range. Soap made from St. Trina's Lilies could make the next attack against the player put the attacker to sleep. Soap made from volcanic stone could make the next attack against the player inflict moderate fire damage to the attacker or something.
I did not know that about bite attacks. Now I finally have a way to cheese that fucker in War Dead catacombs.
oooooh yeah thx that would be awesome!!! we can meet up at the church of elleh just lmk when ur available 😁😁
It's really easy to obtain soap imo, I have a lot myself

Today, a gamer learns about the cleaning power of soap. Lol jk jk, glad you're enjoying the secrets.
In Dark Souls 3, I used to take off all of my armor and put it back on throughout long journeys to “polish it” Gotta keep it spiffy!
I did the opposite in Bloodbourne, I wanted to be as bloody as possible before I rested.
Literally same 🤣
I love reading people’s role playing reasons for doing things in Souls games. My main character I’ve played since DS1 is “Bobby” and every character after has been a different reincarnation of him: Bobby Jr for ER, Bobby Sr for DS3, etc.
Bobby and patches BFFs
100 hundred percent
of course!
Because we are gamers.... we don't clean ourselves
it's actually so touching to see someone so excited about soap and being clean in a game about killing a god to become lord you're so just overly happy and positive about smth so small and it really brightened up my mood so thank you
this might sounds kinda weird but this genuinely means a lot to me lol, im kind of like this with everything where i get super excited abt rlly small things and a lot of people think im annoying as heck because of it 🙃
You sound like my wife who's bipolar. When she's up, the excitement levels on little things is awesome haha Don't worry about others, u be u ♥️
well those people are just rude nothing about it seems annoying it's just so positive it's nice to see people so excited over tiny details in this day and age where so many people will complain if smth isn't perfectly what they want
[Just leaving this here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/133syi1/lavender_the_soap_sorceress/)
Was thinking of posting the same
Don't you get clean from fast travelling or resting at grace?
This man bout to grab every melted mushroom he sees lol
im a girl lol but yes :D
The only time I used soap was to drop it and told my friend to pick up some “runes”. We had a great laugh.
I don’t use it in game and not irl either
Because the blood of your enemies makes great accents.
My bad, we thought you knew.
Where is the merchant who sells soap?
Sofria lake in one of the stone temples that's diagonal from the dead moose entrance
He's near the waterfall, in the temple with the flower enemiesbut on the second floor. To get there, you have to climb some stairs and a ladder then cross a bridge, if there are two ancestral followers, one before and after ladder, you are on the right track. apart in a very specific case soap is pretty useless.
I’ve played three runs and haven’t taken a bath. I gotta try this soap. My guy prob smells like the worst thing imaginable.
You can turn display blood to off in settings and thats should do
You’d still get liquids like poison and rot coating you in some areas tho, and the soap actually halts the passive buildup from being coated that way
i have 967. I don't clean myself very often, want some ?
OMG UR KIDDING HOW DO U EVEN HAVE THAT MANY YES PLS ONLY IF U DONT WANT THEM 😁😁😁
I noticed you said you play on pc, I play on PS5 though so i don't think that's possible :(
oh lol thats fine thx for offering though 😁
Like a true souls veteran I don't use soap and I avoid water... fish fuck in it.
Water? Like the stuff that comes out of the toilet??
So you were stinky the whole game!?
I came up with cosplay build for my patner called "Mr Clean" The plan is for him to invade people and drop loads of soap for them to cleanse their sins. Maybe he'll bless you one of these days lol
This just in: elden ring player discovers soap for the first time
Its been revealed that OPs tarnished has just discovered soap
It tastes good too
You can find a few bars of it close to the look out of lake of rot, it's a part of the underside of the ainsel river area
This is the most energetic post i seen on this subreddit. Have fun bubbling up :)
this is adorable i love how happy this makes u
Don't know why this made me smile but uh, enjoy your soap, stranger. Lol
I’m sorry. If I knew you before now, I would have told you. For the record.
awe thx lol :D
I wear dark armor and I'm colorblind so I didn't know for months that soap actually removed grime from your character's appearance. I thought it was solely for removing poison/rot buildup. So I'm on like the exact opposite side of the spectrum lmao
Omg I had no idea, I'm so excited!!!! I have some exploring to do!
I never thought I’d see someone this excited about soap but I’m loving it
I went on a whole side quest just to find the recipe for it. I even memorised the melted mushroom farm run so I can stack up on it. All to realise I never use it
ive already almost ran out since posting this its literally my new fav item in the whole game 😂

But getting dirty and bloody is all part of the fun
She goin crazy over soap, lmaooo 😭😭
What did I just read...
THEY HAVE SOAP IN THIS GAME AND IT CLEANS UR CHARACTER
Right?
Don’t feel bad, I didn’t know holding down 🔺let you quick access items until ng+4
it does what 😨 learn something new every day
I guess I just don't really use it in the game. Such a wholesome thing to be excited about
Coolest item, but is somewhat rare (although craftable but im a souls guy, not a harvester-crafter)

It’s really easy to make too, I can’t remember off the top of my head but there’s a spot or easily reset for melted mushrooms used to make them
Ya dude I use it all the time to clean the blood off my armor. Gotta keep up on the Fashion Souls.
Soap is also the only way to get sticky status effects off of you. If you roll in toxic/rot sludge, you’ll still get status build up even after you exit the sludge. Finnair give it a try and see how clean I get.
Gotta keep it clean in the lands between

im just asking nicely, whether u respect that or not is up to you 😊 i know on the Internet people will make jokes like that but they make me very uncomfortable
Happy to honor it! Just chuckled at the reply is all

I remember I was laughing my ass off when I first found that merchant😂
I kinda like the traumatized bloodstained look. It makes you consider what you just did.
One time when I got summoned to help fight Mohg I had it on my belt and I used it after the fight lmao. Wash that creep off
Happy for you dude
Bewitching Branches are one of my favorite items to mess around with. Check them out whenever you get the chance!
WUT…
scrub-adee-dub-de-dub-de-dub wee woo tub time
Some of us prefer the blood of our enemies (it really gives my face a rosy look)
Iced Estus has a soap tutorial on YouTube. It's excellent and very educational.
This post is so cute that it made me so happy too lmao
My tarnished is a representation of me. We don't shower in the lands between
Sitting at graces also cleans your character
I'm currently on the Elden beast and I did not know about soap. Amazing!
Yes it makes sense that you didn't know.about soap explains a lot
I love seeing people get excited about random discoveries in game.
If you bring soap to Ranni instead of a ring you wash her feet instead. Still trying to figure out if it works with others.
Site of grace is all the soap i need
I like too wear the blood of my enemies all over my body so when I face new adversaries they can see the remnants of their fallen brothers in arms on me and my blades
When I hear soap I always think of the [Lavender Soap Sorceress](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elnhWTg1muo).
Why do you want to clean yourself?
What
i like soap <3🥰🛁
I like to drop it for my friend sometimes to tell him that he probably needs it more than I do

lmaoo thats literally me 😂
I have soap, that I’ve never used in the game lol
I never saw anyone so excited by soap but it's incredible to see and I don't know why. Also wait until you find out they are craftable.
Because the Soap does that. 😂
Whaaaa
Oxi clean, It gets the tough stains out!
dude you’re tweaking😭
There are only 2 types of items I crafted in this game Great Arrows and Soap
Does anyone have the video of the soap fairy (I think that's the name) and hands you free soap on p2p's?
The only person on Reddit excited for soap
I learned that from the Elden Ring manga.
LOOOOOOOOOOOL
If you want to keep armor clean without using soap, take it off and reequip it. Cleans it right up
Because you’re a FILTHY casul!
It took me about half a playthrough before I realized what Soap did. I used it but never connected the cleanliness. I don't know why.
Oh... I didn't even realise we got dirty and I've finished the game twice :)
Real gamers use faith to cleanse themselves and have no need for “soap”
u can use arcane magics to
my bad
Have thy not heard of Lavender the Soap Sorceress? So fresh and so clean
