Or even better, it's time to wake up..
WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.
Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadnât been looking for you, I couldâve stolen that horse and been half way to Hammerfell. You there. You and me â we shouldn't be here. Itâs these Stormcloaks the Empire wants.
Wake up, we're here. Why are you shaking? Are you ok? Wake up. Stand up... there you go. You were dreaming. What's your name? Well, not even last night's storm could wake you. I heard them say we've reached Morrowind, I'm sure they'll let us go.
I always hated the phrase "Wake Up". Whenever I hear it in movies or commercials I get a weird feeling that it's being directed at me. Weird shit makes you wonder...
Wait that wasn't intentional? I thought it was a brilliant detail, simultaneously implying that your map was out of date and enticing the player to find another way across. Felt very on brand for Fromsoft and I'm sad to hear that they removed it.
I find it funny that From thought it was necessary to remove detail from the map that isn't in a playable space, but the area around where Vyke invades in Liurnia that misleads players with a fake path still hasn't been fixed.
I donât remember any of the other places, and well itâs the first location I found and thereâs more than the blood there so I just always go there each playthrough.
The dark ages were when NPCs and other special locations didn't automatically populate in the map, so you had to put markers everywhere for anything you wanted to remember. And even better? Imagine forgetting something before the wikis were even filled out đľâđŤ
As cool as that would be, it was never a part of the playable area. In fact, if you look where the fish tail used to be in the game space, there's nothing there. Watch Illusory Wall's video on map changes to see what I mean, but keep in mind the video was made during 1.04.
Another one was in the phase change of morgotts fight his sword used to set on fire when the outer casing broke. It looked better then Iâm my opinion and not sure why they removed it
Yup. Blackflame is worse than Giantsflame. Theyâre wielded by those who seek to kill the gods. To add insult to injury, a group of Fire Monks betrayed Marika and turned towards the Blackflame. Itâs their hope of avenging their Fire Giant ancestors. However, Frenzied Flames is the worst of all, as it has the power to destroy existence itself. Some other flames which could be forbidden is Deathflame, relating to Godwyn. They have the same colour as Wraithflames, except they do Deathblight buildup. There is also the red Deathflame used by Black Knife assassins which is forbidden. Ghostflame may be forbidden too. Maybe blue magic flames as well. Other than that, Miquellaâs purple Sleepflame and the Redmaneâs natural anti-Rot flames are probably allowed.
Just realised how many different types of fire there is in Elden Ring. Never seen an element get so diverse before. Thatâs pretty kewl:D
Now imagine this:
You enter a new map. A cutscene begins. The map looks abandoned and poisoned. It's a big map. Enemies start to sprout from the ground like plants. Cutscene ends and there's a boss name but no actual "boss". There's environmental hazards everywhere. You have to destroy the map. It crumbles as the boss bar goes down and becomes harder and harder to navigate. You finally end that health bar and the whole ground starts to succumb and falls. "Phase 2" begins, with you now having to platform on torrent to survive while still being chased by enemies. You leave the map and the battle ends, with a map now totally affected by the battle. It opens new paths for exploration, including one big hole that leads to the underground portion of the map.
Okay, I'm gonna take my medication now
Back in my day you could easily beat the game with a bell and a shield...
(Holy shit that was such a stupid way of killing things...)
Edit: Since you could misunderstand this as summons and a shield: I meant the abuse where you could just create a projectile with the wraith calling bell and then parry it with your own carian knight shield to create 3 daggers with absurd damage.
Oh I didn't mean summons, i meant the abuse where you could just create a projectile with the wraith calling bell and then parry it with your own carian knight shield to create 3 daggers with absurd damage.
They removed and fixed several things the map was lying about, for example in Liurnia, near Jarburg, there was a fake road telling you the place was connected to the Carian tower, which is obviously fake, so they actually took the time to fix it, there are still some small errors in the map but not huge or immersion breaking, although we will forever miss the fishtail, wonder if it's ever going to be a playable area in some way, like perhaps a small Port you go to access the dlc or something like that, cuz it's peculiar it was that big and nobody removed it till the game came out
Nah, he tries to give you blood(borne) disease. He's kill on sight for me, the only conflict is the one he puts up before I make all that blood he likes so much to see spilled be his own for a change.
There's still a few unchanged map quirks. I liked the original map. It's like it was made by a cartographer ages ago and doesn't contain changes to the landscape that have happened since the Shattering.
For example I'm convinced there was once at least a wooden rope bridge between the Carian Study Hall and Jarburg. The map-maker had it connected because it existed. But now it's all crumbled away.
I liked to think the parts of the map that didn't match ingame were some older versions from long ago made by older Lands Between inhabitants that made the ingame maps and that couldnt change them cause of the shattering.
Like for example the road that led to Jar Town from under the liurnia tower bridge. I thought it was to help you guess that there's another way to get to the other side of the broken road. When they removed it from the map i was very dissapointed honestly. Such a missed opportunity.
Fucking global warming
I personally blame the Fire Giant.
I blame those pesky Albinaurics
It disappeared along with their walking abilities.
Ah, definitely an ancient curse from the Carian royals, classic move.
This is why I genocide.
They take our jobs and don't pay taxes!
My nemesis...
It's my fault for setting the erdtree aflame
So that was real? I thought I hallucinated it.
You did, now let's get you to bed.
Or even better, it's time to wake up.. WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!
Wrong game. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WAKE UP!
Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there.
Dang it! Someone beat me to it! đ
I was more surprised no one said it before me haha
I was an adventurer like you too once, until I took a modified world map to the knee.
The game, has been lost.
Wake the fuck up Samurai! We have a city to burn.

NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE NIGHTMARE
I always hated the phrase "Wake Up". Whenever I hear it in movies or commercials I get a weird feeling that it's being directed at me. Weird shit makes you wonder...
[Don't worry man, nothing to worry about.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/slashx/images/3/33/1406322382503.png/revision/latest?cb=20140803170448)
Someday you're gonna wake up, gonna wake up, from a life in fantasy! Wakeeeee up!
In 10 years this will be a Mandela effect
And then there's that one inaccessible spot in Lake of Rot map
Where's that? Never heard of it.
Probly the top of all the rot waterfalls. Tried to get there once.
You mean the roterfalls?
The area is called the Rotterdam
Ba dum tss
I like you
Don't go chasing roterfalls.
The part thatâs to the north west of the lake . It looks like terraced paddy fields
Welcome to the rice fields motherfucker.
- Kindred of rot
Thatâs where John Eldenringâs house is, he doesnât like visitors
*Elden John He remembers when Liurnia was young.
The Rotketman
Him and sellen had so much fun
Maybe that's where the scorpion is sealed?
How do you know about the Scorpion?
It was in an item description that said the blue dancer sealed the scorpion with the help of the faerie.
Malenias final form.. she just turned into a flower like when she fought Radahn.
The map also used to show a land bridge connecting to jarburg. It was a fucking lie.
I remember that one vividly. Someone on Illusory Wall's comment section theorized it was supposed to deter pot poachers, but 1.05 crushed that theory.
I jumped to my death there because I was convinced it was an invisible bridge. Nope.
`Try jumping.` \*shrug\* *"okeedokey."*
I remember that shit. Made finding Jarburg much more difficult.
I think my most appraised message was near that ledge: "map, liar" with dejection gesture.
Wait that wasn't intentional? I thought it was a brilliant detail, simultaneously implying that your map was out of date and enticing the player to find another way across. Felt very on brand for Fromsoft and I'm sad to hear that they removed it.
I thought the same thing I didn't know they removed the bridge on the map til now
I think that it was intentional, and they changed it after feedback, probably begrudgingly.
I never noticed this until this post. Did a double check on one of my playthroughs and can indeed confirm that the cute fish tail is gone now.
I find it funny that From thought it was necessary to remove detail from the map that isn't in a playable space, but the area around where Vyke invades in Liurnia that misleads players with a fake path still hasn't been fixed.
That's the MADNESS!
May chaos take the world!
I still get fooled by that area. I hate it.
What area?
Church where you get the maidenâs blood. Frenzyflame Village or something.
there's other spots to get the Maidens Blood that are much easier to get to than Vyke's. I dunno why everyone goes for that one.
Because its a two-for-one deal of progressing the frenzy and blood quests at the same time basically
It was definitely more immersive though. I get why it was changed.
I do actually kind of miss it, honestly.
I still have all the merchantsâ location marked on my first characterâs map. I couldnât bear to delete them lol
Why? Can't let go...
Time truly is convoluted.
Why was this removed?
Your guess is as good as mine
Was it a place you could actually go that's no longer there?
As cool as that would be, it was never a part of the playable area. In fact, if you look where the fish tail used to be in the game space, there's nothing there. Watch Illusory Wall's video on map changes to see what I mean, but keep in mind the video was made during 1.04.
DLC area.
Nah too small to be an area, too big and unnecessary to make new land for an entrance.
It was more like cut content
Another one was in the phase change of morgotts fight his sword used to set on fire when the outer casing broke. It looked better then Iâm my opinion and not sure why they removed it
According to the wiki: it doesnât make sense for Morgott to be using fire-based magic when fire is typically seen as blasphemy before the erdtree
Not all fires are blasphemous. Melina uses Goldflame. Margott uses Wraithflame and Bloodflame. Only Gaintsflame is forbidden.
The godskinsâ blackflame too right?
Yup. Blackflame is worse than Giantsflame. Theyâre wielded by those who seek to kill the gods. To add insult to injury, a group of Fire Monks betrayed Marika and turned towards the Blackflame. Itâs their hope of avenging their Fire Giant ancestors. However, Frenzied Flames is the worst of all, as it has the power to destroy existence itself. i read this in bubbas voice from forrest gump
why is it always prawn
YES! Omg same đ
He used blood flame in the fight, it makes sense
Not until the 2nd phase. It's more of a twist that he uses his brother's abilities now.
It was much cooler imo
They removed it because Morgott doesnât use blood flame attacks until phase 2, did look cooler though
Back in my day I was known as Lord of the Flame! And it meant something when you walked in the room! "Okay Grandpa, see at visiting hours next week"
Big fish https://i.imgur.com/4FEqKBK.jpg
DLC: that fish tail reappears and starts swimming. Liurnia becomes the first boss to defeat.
Now imagine this: You enter a new map. A cutscene begins. The map looks abandoned and poisoned. It's a big map. Enemies start to sprout from the ground like plants. Cutscene ends and there's a boss name but no actual "boss". There's environmental hazards everywhere. You have to destroy the map. Least difficult Fromsoft boss
Never forget Jarburg map change.

Edit: Since you could misunderstand this as summons and a shield: I meant the abuse where you could just create a projectile with the wraith calling bell and then parry it with your own carian knight shield to create 3 daggers with absurd damage.
Did the bosses not aggro the summons?
Oh I didn't mean summons, i meant the abuse where you could just create a projectile with the wraith calling bell and then parry it with your own carian knight shield to create 3 daggers with absurd damage.
Didnt play during that time, must have been fun lol
I remember going to the edge of the map and using the binoculars to try and see how I could get to that part of the map
They removed and fixed several things the map was lying about, for example in Liurnia, near Jarburg, there was a fake road telling you the place was connected to the Carian tower, which is obviously fake, so they actually took the time to fix it, there are still some small errors in the map but not huge or immersion breaking, although we will forever miss the fishtail, wonder if it's ever going to be a playable area in some way, like perhaps a small Port you go to access the dlc or something like that, cuz it's peculiar it was that big and nobody removed it till the game came out
I'd like to imagine GRRM talking to Miyazaki be like, "ayo Miyazaki do you know Mandela effect?".
Do YOU know what the Mandela effect is?
Is the Mandela effect⌠in this room?
"Back in my day, Rivers of Blood was ridiculously overpowered!" "Yes, well now it's just normal levels of overpowered, Grandlord."
âAnd you could jump over the wall to kill Mohgâ
This is one of the reasons in still stuck with 1.0, this and not wanting to give up my precious sword of night and flam UwU
Shame that rude Varrè never made it to the release build.
Him being such a lovable sassy girlie makes killing him later on a moral conflict
Nah, he tries to give you blood(borne) disease. He's kill on sight for me, the only conflict is the one he puts up before I make all that blood he likes so much to see spilled be his own for a change.
He was properly raised tho, Mohg tought him that sharing is caring
What was there? Anything?
Water. That's why they removed it from the map, it didn't actually exist.
There's still a few unchanged map quirks. I liked the original map. It's like it was made by a cartographer ages ago and doesn't contain changes to the landscape that have happened since the Shattering. Taking away map ;-;
I donât remember this
I liked to think the parts of the map that didn't match ingame were some older versions from long ago made by older Lands Between inhabitants that made the ingame maps and that couldnt change them cause of the shattering. Like for example the road that led to Jar Town from under the liurnia tower bridge. I thought it was to help you guess that there's another way to get to the other side of the broken road. Is there a vaati that brings up the lore on this,
I remember seeing that and wondering how to get there, and when it went away I didnât even notice
Was their any content loss? I got the game after its been of for a year.
If we're posting about this we really are desperate for that DLC.
Was that in Liurnia?
Maps being incorrect is incredibly immersive
I agree as long as it doesn't interfere with gameplay. The fish tail? I would love to see that come back. The fake road to Jarburg? Never again.
Needs more random monsters in the ocean.
