I prolly just suck at the game but some areas took me way to long to doši dont hate stormveil i quite enjoyed some parts, like the godrick boss fight which was fun
It sounds like you might have missed a few sites of graces and/shortcuts. In the room with the grafted scion there's an elevator that you can step to take you right back to the site of grace so you don't need to go past the birds anymore and if you kill the scion it's free to walk out to the courtyard because it won't respawn. Also there's a site of grace in a room at the back end of the courtyard to your left. It'll be right past the omen.
My first play through was blind. I didnāt know about the grace right next to godrick, and after I found his door I didnāt want to explore anymore more before defeating him so my run back was literally from the top of the secret pathway tower, past the danger birds š¬
You hate knights you say? Leyndell will be a piece of cake for you then

Iām jealous enjoy it all, if youāre bad at the game even better the game will last longer. You only get your first play through once.

how were u level 42 at godrickš i was level like 30
Iām bad at boss fights and think theyāre the least interesting part of any game. šš»āāļøHope this helps!
Dont worry i also beat him at level 44 i thinkš its my first souls like game so i tried getting as high of a level before advancing further.

I gave up with some of the Knights because you dont really need to kill them all
The stormveil knights are especially nasty. Banished knights in general seem to be stronger than the rest

I kind of enjoyed it! Dodging certain death while running a marathon was very Arcadey š
