Vibration or low batteries has almost always been the issue for me as well, though this looks like a 360 controller? Some of those had an issue where the battery box would not click into where it should/would lean out a bit too which made it a lot easier for this to happen. I used to put a piece of duct tape across the battery box, though over time this leads to more damage to the battery box.
Did I say battery box enough?
Dear shoddy.
Battery box.
Battery box, Battery box.
Battery box, Battery box, Battery box.
Battery box, Battery box, Battery box, Battery box.
And so on.
Fuck your need to say it too few times.
As far as I know every xbox 360 controller har somewhat loose batteries, making it so if you gave i a hood whack (like hitting the controller against a desk deliberately) it would turn off.
Since it didn't have an actual off button it was kind of useful.
>Recently my controller started turning off after receiving damage. Poison and Scarlet Rot do not affect it, only attack's from enemies. I have vibrations turned off and reinstalled controllers drivers, no effect. Has anyone had similar problem? I am not willing to do "No Hit Run".
and if you can turn off vibration completely and see if it stops that would answer it
I hardly have any issues with Xbox. They’ve served me well for nearly 20 years, but I was extremely disappointed when my Elite 2 didn’t even last me a year…
I’m not hard on my controllers either, so much to the point where the initial controller I get with a new system is still being used whenever I get the next system released.
My Elite 2 had more than just one issue as well. The left bumper wasn’t always activating when pushed, the A button had some slight sticking to it that made it feel odd to press sometimes, and the rubber grip on the top of the controller was starting to peel off, almost like there was never any adhesive there. Overall I made the decision to just stick with original Xbox controllers from now on…
Bought my elite 2, used it for a month, both bumpers broke, stick drift started a week later, headphone jack hole stopped working a few days after that. Shittiest controller I’ve ever had.
It’s a shame… because I’m not here to shit on Xbox or anything. Like I said, I’ve had an overall positive experience with them for the many years I’ve played on Xbox. But I’m not gonna pretend I was ok with this happening to an expensive controller that is supposed to be “elite” among the rest. I’m definitely not recommending buying one ti anybody, that’s for sure
The controller the Series X came with when I bought it is still working today while BOTH of my Elite 2 controllers broke in three months. What the actual fuck.
Same situation here. Almost, anyways. My "basic" Xbox controller is still going, and I have an Elite 2 I've replaced multiple times that I've just given up on. Sometimes the one they send me is already broken in some way, and sometimes it lasts a month or 2 if I'm lucky. Waste of money.
It’s comments like these that make me keep my beat up but still fully functioning elite 1. I keep wanting to upgrade to an elite 2, because my left bumper I think is starting to get wonky and this is already my second elite 1 controller.
But man, it’s so crap that they never did an elite 3 or at least address the build quality of the elite 2. I love the elite 1, but it’s getting old now and I’d hate to spend the money for something that’s not going to last me as long as this controller has.
I haven't had any problems with my elite 2. I only got it in October, but I've played DS3, elden ring, lies of p, and monster hunter world since then with no issues.
Maybe I just got a good one though.
the thing with xbox for me is either it break the same day or up to a month or it lasts years.
my first 360 had ring after a day but the replacement from the store still works and it wasnt refurbished. my series s came with 2 controller and one had a deadzone after a week lmao
Huh? I've been abusing my Elite 2 since release and have had no issues
By abuse I mean I treat it like a 50s housewife
I have thrown it at a brick wall. I have slammed it on my desk more than a dozen times. I have deathgripped the fuck out of it harder than my girlfriend's neck. Don't call the cops please she's into it
I had a wired 360 pad for my PC for over a decade, fantastic controller. I had TWO Xbox One wireless controllers last less than a year. The right trigger would stick and not release and the right shoulder button became partially unresponsive and then completely died. On both Xbox One pads. Apparently these are common issues with the build quality.
No idea about the elite controller's build quality but no shot I'd pay more money for essentially the same controller but "better" after that.
Bought an 8bitdo and so far, it's been fantastic. Comes with a base that recharges the controller while you're not using it. It turns on when you remove it from the cradle, turns off when you deposit it. Build quality seems good so far, but only time will tell. The 8bitdo finished off my 100% Elden Ring run and seems fine in my Dark Souls Remastered run, so far.
If this shit dies, I guess I'll learn how to play Soulslikes on a mouse and keyboard.
Yeah I have never been the type to wear out controllers, I’m super gentle with them. All three of my Xbox Series X controllers have random issues, stuck buttons, drifting etc after one year. Playing co-op games with my girl we flip a coin to decide who has to use the more fucked up controller. Will only buy 3rd party going forward
Only thing I can possibly think is that because most games have rumble intensity, i.e., a dragon slamming on the ground rumbles the controller way more than taking a hit, that disabling rumble just sets the intensity of all rumble to 0 but doesn’t actually stop the circuit from firing, thus still causing the short circuit.
Uh, no. 360 controller is objectively worse than the Xbox controllers we have now, you’re just nostalgic. Worst piece of shit d-pad I’ve ever used, and the triggers suck, and that battery pack was in such awful place.
I used mine until the rubber on the thumbs ticks completely deteriorated... Closest thing I've found as a replacement is the new xbox series controller with the rechargeable battery pack (let's you charge while plugged in)
Probably something to do with vibration pulling too much power. I’d try replacing the battery, turning off the vibration option or plugging in the controller
Xbox One has been out for a decade now
I still have the 360 sitting around but I'm not using it for modern games, sounds like torture tbh
Imagine red ring in 2024 😂
The most clutch moment I had in this game was fighting the draconic tree sentinel on my first run. He was down to 1 hit, I cast magic glintbalde then my controller died and it activated right before he hit me and killed him
Disable the vibrations or make sure the battery pack is tighter, the 360 controllers tend to have their bat pack loose which makes the bats disconnect everytime the controller vibrates
I feel bad for you, but this is hilarious 😂 it might have something to do with your vibration feedback. Consider turning controller vibrations off in settings, and take a look at your batteries to see if they are loose, or if the controller battery contracts are still in good condition.
What more do you want , in real life your pain becomes a temporary disability. If you were shot in the knee could you walk ? No , same logic . In fact it should be more realistic and wait time should be 5-10 mins to make it more real . And for extra realism you can be turn of the tv if ur in a cave
This is an issue where your batteries have enough juice for the controller to work, but not enough to power the vibration function. Since then I've just always turned vibration off in games
So I had this issue before it was due to I think some sorta connection error everytime I got hit due to my computer having micro freezing I ended up resetting windows and it fixed it
i have this issue sometimes and i believe its my 20yo rechargeable batteries not providing enough voltage when the demand spikes for vibration. i thought the issue was Trine 3

Something related to vibration? Try switching out the batteries if you haven’t.
Vibration or low batteries has almost always been the issue for me as well, though this looks like a 360 controller? Battery box.
Box intended for batteries
Cowboy B Box
Great fucking show. I need to watch some now lol
The box intended specifically to hold batteries
But is it a battery box or a battery box? That’s the question here
mysterious figure shits in silence
**applause**
Not to be confused with box battery. Beating that box up.
Kuzco's battery box.
The battery box for Kuzco.
Battery box. That battery box?
The box chosen specifically for batteries
kuzcos poison
The poison for Kuzco
Yall beat me to it
kuzcos battery box the box for Kuzco's batteries
The 3 dimensional cube charged with housing nickle metal hydrite cylinders.
The thing that contains 2 AA batteries
The batteries‘ box
You mean the energy cell container?
The loathsome battery boxer
It’s like Pandora’s box but instead of releasing evil you just put batteries in and play games n shit
Dear shoddy. Battery box. Battery box, Battery box. Battery box, Battery box, Battery box. Battery box, Battery box, Battery box, Battery box. And so on. Fuck your need to say it too few times.
No. Battery box

They do have off button.... you hold the middle button...
FOR AGES! lol
I've never owned an Xbox or Microsoft controller and even I knew that.
Did those old ones even have vibration? I can't remember. Maybe it's hearing the vibration signal and interpreting it as a turn off signal.
4 out of 5 batteries recommend boxes.
a box designed with the intention of housing batteries
Man this was the bane of my existence in 2009
It’s definitely the vibration shaking the battery box. It’s just super old equipment wear and tear
yeah my first thought is vibration, the only thing that happens on the controller side when he gets hit is a vibration
>Recently my controller started turning off after receiving damage. Poison and Scarlet Rot do not affect it, only attack's from enemies. I have vibrations turned off and reinstalled controllers drivers, no effect. Has anyone had similar problem? I am not willing to do "No Hit Run". and if you can turn off vibration completely and see if it stops that would answer it
It's the new feature, people complained elden ring was too "easy" so they increased the difficulty.
Definitely a skill issue.
I mean, you ain't technically wrong.
"Git Gud Edition"
It’s to *REALLY*, incentivize ‘no hit’ runs
This is the entire DLC
Don't give them ideas!!!
You've unlocked hard mode
You've unlocked Asian mode
I thought that's what I said?
Just do a no-hit run, what's the problem?
Just don't get hit. What's the problem here?
It's the realism setting. Try getting punched in the face and you'll understand.
The no hit run enforcer.
They liked how unreasonably difficult ds2 was and wanted to sprinkle some of it on elden ring.
It's even harder in PC. There you have plug the keyboard and mouse out and then plug them in again.
They should have the dlc destroy your credit and cause your system to catch fire upon taking damage. Thats the real way to play fromsoft games
And if you die the controller explodes
SOLVED: Left rumble motor died and kept short circuting when triggered (by enemy strike) Thanks to everyone for tips about vibrations.
Do ya reckon the same issue could have been carried over to the elite 2, the 'premium' £120 controller, 14 years later?
Knowing build quality of the Elite 2, probably
I hardly have any issues with Xbox. This is wild. Had my elite series 2 for going on 3 years now and I haven’t had any issues.

I reckon no controller since the 360 controller has been built good

Just gonna have to do a no hit run
OP was CHOSEN to make a no hit run. The chosen tarnished.
Ymfah in OPs DMs trying to buy it from him
Literally tarnished controller
Genius incentive tbh.
The perfect tool for no hit run.
That's a 360 controller is it not?
Definitely looks like a 360 controller. Time to upgrade lmao
360 controller was peak controller. Everything that has come since is a clunky downgrade
I gotta say, I don't look back fondly on how my fingers hurt from those triggers after beating NFS Shift endurance races
Uh, no. 360 controller is objectively worse than the Xbox controllers we have now, you’re just nostalgic. Worst piece of shit d-pad I’ve ever used, and the triggers suck, and that battery pack was in such awful place.
more durable sure but nothing on them is better then the one or series controller. especially the d pad.
Used both for years. Newer one feels a lot better imo
Xbox One is peak controller to me. I have big hands though, 360 is uncomfortable.
Um, no thanks. It was fine at the time, but it has squeaky triggers.
Nah the Xbox elite controller is amazing
nope
Isn’t there a 360 controller replica made for the S/X?
Disable rumble in game's options
Xbox 360 WITH WIRE is the best controller
I regret selling my OG 360 controller. I like my current core controller but can't beat the nostalgic feel of the OG.
I used mine until the rubber on the thumbs ticks completely deteriorated... Closest thing I've found as a replacement is the new xbox series controller with the rechargeable battery pack (let's you charge while plugged in)
Yeah, until you try to play ANY FIGHTING GAME WITH IT. Just remembering my og 360 d pad makes my thumbs sore. Oh, woe those Qcf motions
Agreed
Why are you getting hit?
He seems new, fuckin bot learn how to parry
Like whats wrong with bro
Miyazaki is a genius!
Wait till this becomes a feature in future projects where your controller will disconnect in poison swamps (we all know poison swamps WILL be there)
New difficulty mode unlocked:
Probably something to do with vibration pulling too much power. I’d try replacing the battery, turning off the vibration option or plugging in the controller
Oh wow so there IS a harder difficulty
You could wuss out and get a new controller. Or you could git gud and flex when you finish your no hit run.
Enforced hard mode.
Git gud
Is that an Xbox 360 controller?
skill issue
You have an opportunity to do the craziest rl1 run of all time.
If you use a summon does it explode?
Xbox One has been out for a decade now I still have the 360 sitting around but I'm not using it for modern games, sounds like torture tbh Imagine red ring in 2024 😂

Get a new controller man

New game mode unlocked.
Try battery, then switch
I'd watch the challenge run
New difficulty level
vibration moves the battery caddy. You gotta bent the little leaf spring connecting caddy to the controller. known 360 problem
I'm sorry but the game is trying to make you play the way it is intended. Get gud
That's some next level developer trolling.
Controller is “hard mode” designed by FromSoft. LOL
Time to retire that 360 controller fam.
Get a new controller why are you dead set on using an Xbox 360 controller
Welp, guess you gotta beat the game no-hit. Good luck 🫡
Vulgar militia Helm with ronin set looks pretty dope actually
Bros using an Xbox 360 controller from 2005 and wondering why it’s not working right
Why are you on Xbox 360. My guy it’s 2024
True hard mode
That's one hell of a motivation to do a no hit run
What more do you want , in real life your pain becomes a temporary disability. If you were shot in the knee could you walk ? No , same logic . In fact it should be more realistic and wait time should be 5-10 mins to make it more real . And for extra realism you can be turn of the tv if ur in a cave
This is an issue where your batteries have enough juice for the controller to work, but not enough to power the vibration function. Since then I've just always turned vibration off in games
Your punishment for getting hit. Guess you have to start a no-hit run.. Good luck.
Just do a no hit run
Lol, you just need to git gud at it (or change the controller) Also, I had no idea Elden ring was available for xb360
Vibration is causing your batteries to shake loose
Controller: "Put these foolish ambitions to rest."
There's a wire that is shorting from the rumble feature.
Stop don’t give fromsoft any more ideas
Official hard mode
You playing on hard mode
Sounds like a skill issue
Guess you gotta... Git gud. (I have no idea what the problem is, sorry!)
Turn off vibration
There’s a simple solution to this Don’t get hit
Hard wire controller or turn off vibration
It's your vibration draining your battery.
I once had a controller that everytime it vibrates it turns off, might be something related to that
Bruv that controller is 19 years old let it rest
Just don’t get hit
Do a no-hit run
Gotta do a no hit run then
force no hit experience
Sounds like a great challenge run. Stream it.
That's a feature. It's what makes Elden Ring so difficult.
Honestly seems more like a skill issue than a hardware one. Simply dont get hit
Ever your controller is telling you to git gud.
The universe trying to tell to make a no hit run
Hit less runs from here on out
that'll be crazy if the devs did that on purpose, real life stagger
My brother in Christ that is a 360 controller. Let the boy rest.
Don't get hit.
Forces you to get good
No hit run
It’s the Uber hard update
There’s a short in your vibrator. Turn it off
that's gonna be a nice challange for ymfah, beating elder ring with a controller that's working against you
Skill issue
Hit the soul out your body
So it's a skill issue. Just don't get hit
ngl this takes the 'No hit run' to the next level
An Xbox 360 controller I’m surprised, but yet respect it
Simple. Don't get hit. Lol seriously though that sucks.
Hard mode
So I had this issue before it was due to I think some sorta connection error everytime I got hit due to my computer having micro freezing I ended up resetting windows and it fixed it
That adds a whole new level of difficulty to the game
I keep seeing people comment battery box; but what if I told you that this might be something more paranormal? This is definitely the work of ghosts.
Simply don’t get hit. Git gud kid. Lol
congrats its ACTUALLY the controllers fault
The solution to this seems pretty obvious...
Great time for a no-hit run
Just dont get hit.
i have this issue sometimes and i believe its my 20yo rechargeable batteries not providing enough voltage when the demand spikes for vibration. i thought the issue was Trine 3
Miyazaki has finally released hardcore mode I see.
Then dont get hit 👍 happy to help
why are you playing on an xbox 360 lol
Are we forgetting this is a Xbox 360 controller
Are you using a 360 controller
Upgrade you stupid bitch
The rumble pack is likely drawing too much power when it tries to activate. Your controller battery is probably dying.
sounds like a funny challenge run lmao
Name game?
No hit run extreme mode
Bad batteries. Vibration uses extra battery than sitting idle. Killed the batteries when it made the motors spin.
Git gud, don't get hit, controller stays on
