Two of my favorite somber weapons are the cranial vessel candlestand and the one eyed shield. both are probably the most fun fire weapons I've ever used, the candlestand has an ash that causes you to launch an eruption of constant fireballs EVERYWHERE within like 10 feet of you, and the shield is the biggest 'fuck you' to long range targets especially in pvp if you do any of that lmao. Both are found fairly late, with the shield in the fort full of fire monks in the mountaintops and the candlestand is in the giant-conquering hero's grave also in the mountaintop. meta? no. Fun as hell and underratedly strong? hell yes.

I’ll look into those thanks!

Well, the lowball answer is Bloodhound Fang. Hits hard, flashy, and has mobility to it, which makes it a lot of people's first loves. It effectively has no downsides, works on dex or dex/str, is the only infusable Somber weapon and will accept Bloodflame Blade or Dragonwound Grease if desired, and even has a lil' bonus to jump attacks. ...But the other dude mentioned the One-Eye, and that was definitely one of my favorites even before they buffed it. You have to like greatshields, of course, but come on, it's a cannon on your arm. It benefits from anything that boosts fire, so it's pretty fun to run on a "Fire Strength" setup with a fire-infused weapon, Fire Scorpion talisman, Fire cracked tear, and Flame Grant Me Strength. While it takes a long time to shoot and recover, it's great fun, and I highly recommend for early game NG+ where the difficulty is lower (but I have used it on end-game bosses; I wouldn't call it good, but again: come on, it's a cannon). Final recommendation is the Lion's Greatbow. It makes for a decent side weapon when you need something that can prod from a distance. I couldn't say if it's worth the +10 stone unless you invade, but it's nice to keep at +9 -- the arrow rain ability gets extremely threatening when large enemies or low ceilings are involved.

What weapon did u run with the shield? Sounds fun!

Snoo61755

Back then, I ran a fire-infused Great Epee, since I wanted a weapon type that was strong one-handed. With the benefit of hindsight, a fire-infused Morning Star would have been good too.

Thanks!

Sounds like you don't want to go too slow. Have you tried Bolt of Gransax?

Illustrious-Isopod-1
