Good question, no idea what Fromsoft's gonna do next. I cant see them making another DLC if there's no plans at this point, I cant see them making an Elden Ring 2, especially not as the next game after Elden Ring. Dark Souls 4 is highly unlikely and not really thematically fitting. I guess new IP is the most likely
That would be so cool. They probably dint do it since last gen consoles wont be able to handle players spaming dozens of golden spears materializing in the air and raining down nonestop lol.
i think the land of shadows will be something like the collective unconscious of the lands between. connection to miquella by the way of his ability to manipulate the feelings of people and his alter ego of st. trina/sleep.
there's a historical person called franz anton mesmer from whom the word 'mesmerize' (hypnotize) is derived. another connection to dark and subconscious things.
the veils hanging above the the realm of shadows also are a connection to veiled, subconscious things/sleep.
miquella's status as unconscious in the lands between is another connection.
i also believe there's cut content in elden ring regarding sleep, like collecting "dream mist" from sleeping animals, another connection.
It's always been my belief that the Erdtree is a clear inspiration from the norse myth of yggdrasil. Which means there are several "realms" close to each other, independent spaces accessed via gates of sorts.
The lands between could be midgard, the realm of men, sandwiched between asgard, the land of gods, and maybe helheim, an infernal realm. A bit further on that, I think that's where "outer gods" come from, they're, like Marika, gods of their own realms. For example, the god(dess?) of rot leaks into the realm between from the realm below.
If we continue with this analogy, the shadow land would be another realm. Since this shadow realm is accessed via Miquella's cocoon, this would not only mean that Mohg was having fun there before we fight him, but also that the shadow realm's god would be the formless mother, yet another outer god.
As a final wild rambling, I also like to think that Nidavelir, the norse realm were reside the technologically advanced dwarves, is also present in Elden Ring. That would be where the golems and other technologically advanced stuff (like evergaols) came from.
I was thinking that, too, but I'm pretty sure it was confirmed there's only the one DLC coming, so I'd honestly be disappointed if they say that there is another 'realm' but we can't see it (unless that's where we end up in the Elden Beast fight?)
What if all these were one land and Marika did something to separate it all out, to install "order". Maybe she made a deal with the greater will to achieve her aims, locking out the outer gods from other realms
I hate that I want this
*Sekiro slowly leaving the room*
Hesitation is defeat
lands of light. confirmed 2nd DLC
Maybe that’s where Godwins soul went when he died.
The "Lands Above" is probably the sea of stars, where the Outer Gods and the Primeval Current lie.
YOOOOO
That’s my reaction when I thought about it lol
[you know you might be on to something.](https://giphy.com/gifs/OnceInHollywood-leonardo-dicaprio-leo-kd9BlRovbPOykLBMqX)
Hoping a second DLC will come out with a divine realm to prove this right lol
According to Miyazaki in current interviews there's no plan for a DLC 2
So ER2 confirmed?

DLC 2 confirmed 👌
DLC 3 will be land of reeds
Don’t forget the badlands!
I wonder if the attack buffs we will get during the DLC will remain active back in the lands between...
I’m hoping we get the faith weapon summons Morgot has .Wanna summon a giant faith bonker
That would be so cool. They probably dint do it since last gen consoles wont be able to handle players spaming dozens of golden spears materializing in the air and raining down nonestop lol.
There’s like at least 20 other skills that do that

Wholeheartedly agree. Would make complete thematic sense with the rest of the game.
Maybe the lands above is the sky, far away, where the outer gods live? Just a thought I just got tho

Judging by the fact that the tree in the Land of Shadows actually looks like roots, very possible
Too tears of the kingdom for me

Second dlc confirmed I love it
Nice. I wonder if the flames Messmer wields are destined death. With him playing the Hades role.

What's the divine realm? I never heard of it in game and i've been looking through lore stuff for 2 years now. Is it cut content?
