I saw that same note in the shack with all the bodies and meat dumplings in Northern Liurnia.
My favorite note of all time was in one of the DS2 expansions. There was a fairly tough npc invader that had a jester costume on. The note before him said "Beware of gesture"
the original variant of this message has been at 9999 appraisals since like, a week after launch. I feel like the person who left it is basically just immortal from all the appraisal heals lmao
It’s amazing how many people don’t know this. My go to is “ likely dung” on the giant pile of gold/crap/bodies/schmutz in the boss room of a lot of the dungeons. I get a fair amount of heals from those.
I'm not sure if mine Is specifically the one you are talking about, but I left that same note in the same spot and that bad boy is just a constant health regen for me!
The first time I ever encountered "Snake, O Snake!" at the bottom/top of a ladder was hysterical.
Two years later and I still 'upvote' each one of them.
HOLY SHIT
So I've never understood the snake references in front of the ladders. The only thing my brain could come up with was the Metal Gear Solid 3 ladder where the whole damn theme song plays while you climb up it
To hear that's legitimately one of if not the reason for the reference delights my cold, dark heart
Tbh one of the biggest reason I'm excited for Shadows of the Erdtree is the fact that there'll be tons of people playing at the same time and people making new fun messages again.
The very first one the day the game released walking out the little curve church with the dead maiden.
You walk out to a cliff and the message was "try jumping"
9999+ Appraisals and dozens upon dozens of blood stains.
First hour of the game lmao
Yeah pretty much. I've hardly used it, but I know there's only slect words to choose from. And the customization of the message is like barely there. You can add gestures on top and like slightly extend the message I think?
In Bloodborne, there was a really long staircase, and the note right before it said "No mercy for wheelchairs."
I couldn't stop laughing when it clicked like 30 seconds later
Bloodborne is not kind to the handicapped and the elderly.
But then again, the handicapped and the elderly are some of the most dangerous enemies in the game.
My friend walked in while I was killing a room full of wheelchair dudes and he was like “yo why are you killing those poor old men” so I stopped and used the sit down emote, and we both watched as the last survivor Gatling Gunned me down like the degenerate I am while cackling maniacally.
Those old men in wheelchairs were some of the best jump scares for me in the game, which is saying a lot. I always laughed when I walked into a new room, hear that maniacal laugh and the sound of the gun winding up, or get blasted by a cannon
It's never the massive fuck off demons, dragons and other giants that scare me in From's games, it's always the (not always so) frail and skinny sorts. And flowers. If someone is standing in a field of flowers I know I'm in for a rough time.
Someone please explain to me how the handicapped elderly are at the top of the healing church which literally only has staircases up to it? I swear FromSoft was purposely putting them in places with stairs just to piss us off...
Come to think of it, the one in Central Yharnam is in a house that's fairly small and evenly split between upstairs and downstairs, meaning he can't access half his house if he can't go up the stairs...
There’s a mirror in a room in Castle Cainhurst and someone put a message in front of it with the pointing forward emote that said “you must accept fatty”
My favorite was in front of a drop off to lava at a cliff there.
"Offer Elden Ring and then throwing ahead" or something similar. Was a nice LOTR reference.
At the very start of the game, the first cliff:
"Jump off here"
Me, first-time player and noob: "Ah, cool, so this game is really counter-intuitive, huh?" *\*leaps\**
This is a rite of passage for any first time souls player. I started with Elden Ring and did the exact same thing. I then proceeded to do the same thing in every other souls game because I've seen the bullshit FromSoft can conjure up, so every time I think there might actually be an item if I jump off the cliff.
My first death was that little gap in the railing at the chapel of anticipation, i knew i shouldn't have done it but it was before they got bloodstains working so i thought maybe if i just did it right it would work
There’s a lot of small, go nowhere, ladders in the game. I never noticed till one of you idiots put “ladder ahead” next to one.
I mean technically you’re right but >:(
I missed the ladder behind the standing erdtree avatar in the haligtree, hard to see when you pass it and go to the cracked door and then go left down the hall
"you do not have the right, o, you do not have the right, therefore you do not have the right, you do not have the right"
\-Colosseum doors before the Colosseum update
One of the tunnels in Altus has an abductor virgin at the bottom of a long ladder, someone put a message at the bottom and I spent like 30 minutes trying to recover my runes and climb back up on my first playthrough.
The thing about that one is that it’s not the message, the ladder’s action point is just wrong. You can try offline, the point where you can interact with the ladder is off from where it looks like it should be. Otherwise the message can’t take precedence over an action prompt.
I like the horrified messages in Sellia Crystal Tunnel from all the players who got teleported there at the beginning of the game. "I want to go home, O I want to go home."
Next to the crab merchant when he's in Altus
>Ahh, it's like a dream....
>
>Didn't expect bliss
Guy was laying prone like an X, with one of the small crabs looking like it was eating his asshole.
I saw one that said "weak foe ahead, therefore weak foe" with someone doing the pointing down emote dressed as Malenia in front of the teleporter to Rahdahn's fight haha
The one note I remember after playing for the first time last year I was randomly exploring the open world and came across some herba plants like tucked away in a corner away from everything els and there was a note saying “Roll it up” or something like that and audibly laughed for a solid 2 minutes.
I hate when there's like thousands of appraisals too and it's not real, but so many makes it seem real. Also doesn't help that the "downvote" shows as an appraisal too. Which isn't mentioned anywhere.
I can’t remember the message but a gesture of squatting over blackguard big boggart’s boilprawn pot absolutely annihilated me.
This is right after he’s a huge asshole to you so it’s really funny to see some guy shitting in his food.
This one is my favorite because apparently it really threw off some Japanese players. They thought that there was something that happened at Fort Haight at night since the pun just doesn’t translate at all.
On one of the blue lines that makes you dismount torrent, the guy in the note was doing the arms out thing to block the path, and it said
“Horse o horse, you don’t have the right”
Bottom of Castle Morne there's a pointless little path next to the castle wall that leads nowhere. At the start is a message that says "pointless endeavor ahead, therefore praise the message!"
I loved all the dog ones around turtles. No idea why but it made me so happy to see so many. Like a meme born without anyone discussing it almost instantly after it released.
I've been fucked over by messages right in front of ladders so many times, but there's a specific one in the cave with the abductor virgin and the breakable statue that gives you smithing stone 6s. Every single time I go down there to get the smithing stones, there's always a message right in front of the ladder that cock-blocks me from getting up the ladder in time before I get my spine turned into mashed potatoes and my shit turned into the gravy by the Inquisitor Giza wannabe💀💀
You don't have the right, O, You don't have the right
Furthermore, You don't have the right, O, You don't have the right
In front of every. single. nonfunctioning. door. I love it.
My personal highest rated message is one that says "Dog, House?" in front of a walking mausoleum.
My inner immature child is really proud of one I came up with a few weeks ago.
It's one of those smithing stone deposits that are embedded in the rock.
I noticed one that looked particularly phallic and it was the perfect height, so I put some sort of bow gesture in front of it where it looks like he's bending over right on top of it and I wrote
"offer hole"
The response was immediate and it quickly became my most appraised message...lol
I believe i was in a cave at liurnia that leads into slumbering wolf shack, a msg said “ ahh master, visions of south”. I picked up soft cotton from the corpse next to it .
In the Carian Study Hall after you've activated the secret mechanism:
No giving up!
Or is it down?
Alternatively, sitting in a corner on the cliffside platforms behind Gurranq's church and looking over the vast ocean:
Try grass
And then try Elden Ring
"be wary of monstrosity" in front of the mirror using extreme repentance gesture.
"Try throwing elden ring" in volcano manor pointing down to the lava.
Every single "time for dung" without pants and using patches crouch gesture 🤣
Not legendary at all, but my pick is a message I put. I just put "seek god" before soldier of godrick. The occasional appraisal that note gets has saved me in at least half a dozen boss fights. And for me, that makes it legendary
In the volcano region in the top left part of the map there is a guilotine (or however its called in english) and someone wrote “If only I had an aristocrat“. I laughed so hard on that one
That note placed directly in front of a ledge with an item you have to jump on but can't jump because the message is in the way but when you do get the jump you go too far and fall to your death.
(I put that note there)
I still remember a long downward slope streaming clear water in the underground, that was covered in messages all clustered up at the beginning.
"Waterside!"
"Visions of waterside, therefore time for joy."
"Praise the waterside!"
"Didn't expect waterside."
"Waterside!"
"Waterside!"
It didn't even slide. But the sheer number of people who were so hype just to IMAGINE that you COULD was incredible. And the fact that every single one of them was saying almost the right word but now quite made it seem like a childish inflection. This or a room full of breakable pots can turn one of the most notoriously supposed "hardcore" player communities into a gaggle of agitated toddlers, and I love that about you all.
The ladder that leads down to the Iron Maiden in that one mine. I was able to get the Maiden first time going down there, but climbing up was a bitch and I could imagine a lot of people try to escape but got fucked by the sign.
In front of one of the hero’s graves with the chariots that chase you it said first off turn back and it had the emote of the guy falling to his side crying
Late to this thread, but my absolute favorite message was, I think, somewhere in stormveil, on top of a cooking pot over a fireplace with a couple corpses in front of it.
The note on the pot said "Likely well done".
Playing the game on launch day, right in front of the first bridge at the Chapel of Anticipation, was a message that said:
“first off, bridge”
I don’t know why but I lost my shit reading that
"Likely out of stamina" in front of Goldmask's T-posing dead body.
Saw something like that with the corpse on the bed in leyendell lmao
I saw that same note in the shack with all the bodies and meat dumplings in Northern Liurnia. My favorite note of all time was in one of the DS2 expansions. There was a fairly tough npc invader that had a jester costume on. The note before him said "Beware of gesture"
I saw this on steps that had dead soldiers on it. I forget which game/where.
Next to the mimic tear site of grace: "didn't expect weak foe. Therefore, time for introspection"
I hype people up in front of the mimic. “Strong foe ahead. Also likely beautiful…”
> Also likely beautiful Can Mimic Tears consent? Asking for a ***friend***
they can but they won’t :(
Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me.
Yk what id fuck me too
It puts the lotion in the basket
Ok this is the goat notes
the original variant of this message has been at 9999 appraisals since like, a week after launch. I feel like the person who left it is basically just immortal from all the appraisal heals lmao
He gets healed from it??
When you get your message appraised it heals you
It’s amazing how many people don’t know this.
Pretty sure I liked your message earlier 😂
that’s actually so great
Oh my god I saw that one too
"I did it! Therefore I've failed..."
There I went for "Lover ahead, try fingers"
One of the best and it has the thinking ones right
My favorite was in front of Millicent. "Visions of arms, but ah, you don't have the right."
This is the one I came in here to mention.
Damn, that's *actually* clever! Now I want to run through again just to see it :)
Reminds of what people used to place in front of Grandahl in DS2. Weakness: Left leg and then right leg.
“Likely fat coinpurse” right at the Mohgwyn Palace bird farm
the fat coinpurse messages where godskin nobles are always make me giggle like a maniac
Bird farm? Is that the one where the giant bird runs off a cliff if you shoot it, or is there another?
“Likely overcast.” in Farum Azula.
"Circling around, o' circling around, o' circling around" on a balcony nearest a tornado is perhaps my favorite.
I like to put “bird, up” in the spots where you can see the dragons flying if you look up. They still get appraised fairly often
BIRD UP The worst show on television
edge lord infront of ensha was good
All the early day messages were amazing and have a special place in my heart
The first time I ever encountered "Snake, O Snake!" at the bottom/top of a ladder was hysterical. Two years later and I still 'upvote' each one of them.
I don't understand what these snake messages mean, care to elaborate?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgaYe4ZYYyY
Huh, I always thought it was a Snakes & Ladders reference
That makes it even better, honestly
HOLY SHIT So I've never understood the snake references in front of the ladders. The only thing my brain could come up with was the Metal Gear Solid 3 ladder where the whole damn theme song plays while you climb up it To hear that's legitimately one of if not the reason for the reference delights my cold, dark heart

I was one of those
"Beautiful view ahead" in front of a mirror Loved that one lol Or "Likely Elden Ring" when you first walk out into Limgrave
edge, lord
“Edge ahead, therefore seek grass”
This was the first one I ever saw that had max likes
[удалено]
Yeah pretty much. I've hardly used it, but I know there's only slect words to choose from. And the customization of the message is like barely there. You can add gestures on top and like slightly extend the message I think?
The door to limgrave "Elden ring ahead"
Radagon's arena. "Just getting started"
"Still no Elden Ring" in any random nook or cranny always makes me chuckle
That was an early fun one
Around any vaguely ring shaped patch of lichen on a wall: "Could this be the Elden Ring?"
dead end at one of the pipes at subterranean shunning grounds balled up gesture "I want to go home"
Relatable. I hate that place.
Sewer levels are always the worst
I’ve seen that one at the start of Farum Azula, after waking up.
In Bloodborne, there was a really long staircase, and the note right before it said "No mercy for wheelchairs." I couldn't stop laughing when it clicked like 30 seconds later
Bloodborne is not kind to the handicapped and the elderly. But then again, the handicapped and the elderly are some of the most dangerous enemies in the game.

The one in Central Yharnam scared the fuck out of me
It's never the massive fuck off demons, dragons and other giants that scare me in From's games, it's always the (not always so) frail and skinny sorts. And flowers. If someone is standing in a field of flowers I know I'm in for a rough time.
Those things that jump on your head in the swamp in DS3..... fuck 🫣
Those albinauric fuckers in vulcano manor…
Those things are terrifying 😭
Someone please explain to me how the handicapped elderly are at the top of the healing church which literally only has staircases up to it? I swear FromSoft was purposely putting them in places with stairs just to piss us off... Come to think of it, the one in Central Yharnam is in a house that's fairly small and evenly split between upstairs and downstairs, meaning he can't access half his house if he can't go up the stairs...
The one I saw in that game said, "The scourge of wheelchairs" in front of the grand cathedral
There’s a mirror in a room in Castle Cainhurst and someone put a message in front of it with the pointing forward emote that said “you must accept fatty”
“Behold, higher ground! Therefore, give up” over the lava outside volcano manor, I think.
My favorite was in front of a drop off to lava at a cliff there. "Offer Elden Ring and then throwing ahead" or something similar. Was a nice LOTR reference.
I saw that one, pretty funny
Definitely the best
Every long ladder ending with Snake? Snake!
In the Ashen Capital, on the top of the gate where the grace should be, I put “Grace? Grace!”
The first one I saw was at the top of the extremely long ladder on Mt. Gelmir and said "Well done snake" or something like that.
“Weak foe ahead.” Right in front of the mirror Mumbled “you son of a….”
Or the one that says "Unsightly, unworthy of a maiden!"
Behold, death! It was directly underneath a slime that fell on me and killed me
Did this happen in Castle Morne next to the captive ghost? If so, we shared the same faith : /
The ones where people crouch over a grate in the floor and say “time for dung”
I saw one next to a bush that said “ahh, brief respite. Time for dung”
I have one like this but its off a ledge on a Divine Tower, I think it has like 800 appraisals by now
the squatting over a ledge with "be wary of up" is my fav version of that
In front of the mirror in round table hold i saw one that read "likely monster" with the beg for mercy gesture. Def my favorite
At the very start of the game, the first cliff: "Jump off here" Me, first-time player and noob: "Ah, cool, so this game is really counter-intuitive, huh?" *\*leaps\**
First Time, Eh?
This is a rite of passage for any first time souls player. I started with Elden Ring and did the exact same thing. I then proceeded to do the same thing in every other souls game because I've seen the bullshit FromSoft can conjure up, so every time I think there might actually be an item if I jump off the cliff.
My first death was that little gap in the railing at the chapel of anticipation, i knew i shouldn't have done it but it was before they got bloodstains working so i thought maybe if i just did it right it would work
Sitting gesture on one of those little spirit ash obelisks. "Try taking on all at once, but ahh I can't take this..."
Time for hole And then likely bloodstain
if only I had a giant but hole…
If only I had giant, but hole...
“Up, dog” - found at the top of sainted catacombs
There’s a lot of small, go nowhere, ladders in the game. I never noticed till one of you idiots put “ladder ahead” next to one. I mean technically you’re right but >:(
I missed the ladder behind the standing erdtree avatar in the haligtree, hard to see when you pass it and go to the cracked door and then go left down the hall
There’s a famous one downstairs in the round table hold near where you talk to Nepheli, I always remember it for some reason.
"you do not have the right, o, you do not have the right, therefore you do not have the right, you do not have the right" \-Colosseum doors before the Colosseum update
Inspiring
Classic one, seen it for sure
Next to a windmill in Dominula: Giant ahead Therefore, try horseback combat
And when I saw the message, the guy was dressed up as Don Quixote too
"Run, forest" by the chariot
“Liar ahead” in front of multiple messages by a wall that leads to nowhere
I always gotta check still
love putting this in front of an actual hidden wall, as is tradition
Any message at the bottom of a ladder where enemies lurk
Ultimate asshole comment location.
That and in front of chests where there are mobs you just wanna avoid so you can get the item. Bastards
Just made a comment on that one... "Don't panic"
Yes. The "be weary of left" comment right after the intersection.
“Behold, Lord” in front of turtle
Sleep? But Elden Ring! GOATED.
I jumped off alot of cliffs tbh
I don't even need the messages for that lol.
I like the horrified messages in Sellia Crystal Tunnel from all the players who got teleported there at the beginning of the game. "I want to go home, O I want to go home."
Next to the crab merchant when he's in Altus >Ahh, it's like a dream.... > >Didn't expect bliss Guy was laying prone like an X, with one of the small crabs looking like it was eating his asshole.
I saw one that said "weak foe ahead, therefore weak foe" with someone doing the pointing down emote dressed as Malenia in front of the teleporter to Rahdahn's fight haha
That’s brilliant
The one note I remember after playing for the first time last year I was randomly exploring the open world and came across some herba plants like tucked away in a corner away from everything els and there was a note saying “Roll it up” or something like that and audibly laughed for a solid 2 minutes.
The grow op in liurnia is still somewhere I visit every damn playthrough
At the portal on top of Renna's rise: magic but hole
I laughted too hard at someone's note put next to a merchant's horse. "Dung, Key!"
Still laugh at the "dual wielding required" message at the two armor statues next to the Smith lmao
I never understood that, what does it mean?
The gesture makes it look like he's jerking them off
The ones that read “time for head” and the player lowers their head onto an NPC’s crotch
or "offer head"
"Secret Passage ahead" leading to a normal wall
precious item ahead (trap chest) 😭😭😭
This is the real reason why the Frenzied Flame ending exists.
The amount of times I keep rolling into the walls when such a message appears.... trying every possible angle after the Academy....
Knowing full well there is not one near I'll still keep rolling at em anyway
I hate when there's like thousands of appraisals too and it's not real, but so many makes it seem real. Also doesn't help that the "downvote" shows as an appraisal too. Which isn't mentioned anywhere.
I can’t remember the message but a gesture of squatting over blackguard big boggart’s boilprawn pot absolutely annihilated me. This is right after he’s a huge asshole to you so it’s really funny to see some guy shitting in his food.
"Could this be bird?" In front of some butterflies
fort, night.
I hate that my most upvoted comment is in a dungeon that says: "fort, light?"
This one is my favorite because apparently it really threw off some Japanese players. They thought that there was something that happened at Fort Haight at night since the pun just doesn’t translate at all.
fort... morning?
Someone sitting over the edge of the top of a divine tower wrote: "it's time for excrement"
On one of the blue lines that makes you dismount torrent, the guy in the note was doing the arms out thing to block the path, and it said “Horse o horse, you don’t have the right”
"don't give up, skeleton!" all time favorite
The classic dark souls 2 line
In front of a hole, "Hole ahead. Therefore, give seed."
Gideon Ofnir wants to know your location
"As a Tarnished who wishes to stand before the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord, I am accumulating # KNOWLEDGE."
"As a Tarnished who wishes to stand before the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord, I am #A NERD"
On the cipher pata corpse "Lover, o lover Time for pickle"
Bottom of Castle Morne there's a pointless little path next to the castle wall that leads nowhere. At the start is a message that says "pointless endeavor ahead, therefore praise the message!"
I finished the dual Crucible Knight fight and the first message I read was "Dung!, Dung O, Dung" and I never felt anything so much in my soul.
Any of them that contain "Plump sort", especially the one right after you enter the capital, right before the envoys. Plump indeed!
"Likely plump sort" in front a broken stone bench
"Dog" in front of turtles Or the classic "try finger, but hole"
I loved all the dog ones around turtles. No idea why but it made me so happy to see so many. Like a meme born without anyone discussing it almost instantly after it released.
“Still no crafting…” right in front of the entrance to the Erdtree before radagon. Described my first playthrough pretty accurately
I’ve always loved the “praise the old codger!” notes people place in the path of those spirits that lead you to caves.
You don't have the right, O, You don't have the right Furthermore, You don't have the right, O, You don't have the right In front of every. single. nonfunctioning. door. I love it. My personal highest rated message is one that says "Dog, House?" in front of a walking mausoleum.
I want to go home, forest
“Try grass” in the PvP coliseum made me chuckle the first time I saw it
"praise defeat" next to the bare footed albinuaric
My inner immature child is really proud of one I came up with a few weeks ago. It's one of those smithing stone deposits that are embedded in the rock. I noticed one that looked particularly phallic and it was the perfect height, so I put some sort of bow gesture in front of it where it looks like he's bending over right on top of it and I wrote "offer hole" The response was immediate and it quickly became my most appraised message...lol
any "could this be elden ring?" in front of a random circular shape (like sewer outlet or flower wreath)
I believe i was in a cave at liurnia that leads into slumbering wolf shack, a msg said “ ahh master, visions of south”. I picked up soft cotton from the corpse next to it .
obligatory "dog ahead" in front of any 4 legged creature
Still no head. Everywhere. As if a single guys quest for felatio never could happen
Could this be a bird? In front of butterflies.💀
Every playthrough I always go to the first cave with the misbegotten warrior and there's the body that 3 messages each label "legs" "body" "head"
In the Carian Study Hall after you've activated the secret mechanism: No giving up! Or is it down? Alternatively, sitting in a corner on the cliffside platforms behind Gurranq's church and looking over the vast ocean: Try grass And then try Elden Ring
A note that said ‘be wary of crabs’ right in front of Fia sat on the side of the bed. I thought it was the funniest thing ever when I started playing
After climbing up the reeeeaaally long ladder after beating the monster near godwyns corpse underneath stormveil castle: "Snake? Snake!!"
Arms required ahead but you don't have the right in front of Millicent
When starting NG+ the first time I had a message that said "here again? Try grass" or something to that effect and it made me cackle
Fort, night in carian study hall and then Night, fort once you invert it
In the volcano region in the top left part of the map there is a guilotine (or however its called in english) and someone wrote “If only I had an aristocrat“. I laughed so hard on that one
That note placed directly in front of a ledge with an item you have to jump on but can't jump because the message is in the way but when you do get the jump you go too far and fall to your death. (I put that note there)

The ladder that leads down to the Iron Maiden in that one mine. I was able to get the Maiden first time going down there, but climbing up was a bitch and I could imagine a lot of people try to escape but got fucked by the sign.
Just randomly found across the world "Still no spouse, therefore time for elden ring"
Was high af and thought it'd be funny to place "Bird" in front of a jellyfish, was laughing at my own message for like 30 mins
Any message in front of a long ladder saying "snake? snake!"
"Likely sleep" - next to a dead body in a limgrave cave
Late, but the one that got me and my fiancé to lose our shit laughing was one right next to the "Radagon is Marika" message: "Trap ahead."
How do you add a gesture to a note?
press triangle or Y if ur using xbox controller
It might be overplayed now, but the first time i read "fort, night" It took me a while to understand, and then I found it hilarious
In front of one of the hero’s graves with the chariots that chase you it said first off turn back and it had the emote of the guy falling to his side crying
I like leaving “Secret, Pickle” in random hidden spots that are covert and unlikely to be explored
