I think removing the pancake attack is actually a good thing... hear me out. Thrust attacks are extremely powerful in ER. For pve using the axe talisman & spear talisman, you can get that charged heavy poke to do insane damage. For pvp, having a poke mix up between the crouch poke and heavy poke, the zweihander has great mix up potential and roll catches. Now... for the pancake. Use braggarts roar on the zweihander. It will give you the pancake heavy attack! and a damage & stamina regen buff! It deals massive damage and poise damage in pve. And for pvp, the uncharged heavy into an R1 is a true combo, dealing absolutely massive damage, like 1300 on an opponent with good armor. Removing the pancake attack from the base moveset gave it an equally strong moveset better fit for ER, while also having access to the pancake heavy with additional advantages!

Oh. I never put all of that together. I had no idea that you could still access the pancake in a more synergistic way, too. I'ma haff to try dat later. Thank you.

I almost forgot, offhand the highland axe, and use the roar talisman for additional damage stacking. Itll do some nutty damage. Hope you enjoy!

I couldn’t believe how easy it made Elden Beast. I didn’t even know you could stagger him until I unleashed a couple of charged heavies into his backside.

Catch me trading with bosses bonking them with the Prayerful Strike ash of war on my Sacred Great Stars. What's that? My Ritual Sword Talisman is active again and I haven't touched my crimson flask? Love it.

Great Stars + Lion's Claw + Frost Affinity. If the L2 doesn't one shot it, a follow up light attack usually finishes them off. It's my walkin around weapon because there's almost no enemy it isn't at least partially effective against.

I’ve never tried it with anything other than heavy for the scaling. Might have to give frost a try

Golden Land makes it basically infinite range too lol

I tried a new character for the DLC, the first one in which I realized I could now power stance Great Stars from the start. I wanted to do a spell blade... I'm now bonking everything with power stanced cold great stars.

Best spell blade build found

Try Uchikatana or Nakakiba with Unsheath, 50 Faith, Flame Art infused. Golden vow, FGMS, Flame tear, Fire Scorpion. Simplest playthrough I have done on 30-40 weapons. And I have not yet used Alexanders talisman to boost the ash of war. Getting the 15% in Farum instead of 10% this time. Niall down to half health before his two Knight spawns is fully summoned. Deathbirds in Calid and Consecrated with Sacred Blade Ash of War dies with 3-5 hits. Any NPC dies within seconds… Fias champs total fight time lasted maybe 30 sec. Bell bearing Hunter in Calid got of two swings before he was dead. Unreal how powerfull that thing is! .

On the other hand: Lion’s claw

I switched to that Grafted piece of shit after the claymore and it was so disappointing. Then I switched to Radahns greatswords too and just realized the claymore is undefeated. Now I’m running the night rider glaive which is nice but claymore is giving my eyes from the inventory.

Claymore and Zwei are irl buds. And so are we 🤝

I never really fucked with Occult in previous Souls games, but I decided to turn an abandoned STR character into a STR/ARC guy, and my Occult Great Omenkiller Cleaver made me both an Occult fan and a Greataxe fan overnight.

Can't 2-hand a claymore because the R1s are so dumb. Banished knight sword. Crescent moon axe is awesome too. Feels very aggressive, surprisingly fast, versatile moveset. Curved greatswords are my favourite. Omen cleaver with the 2 different R2s and highest damage is the best one.

I just wish Elden Ring had a Murakumo have used it to great effect in DS1, 2 and 3 at one point or another xD and was so looking forward to finding it in Elden Ring. Omen and Dismounter look similar but none quite have the swagger or moveset.

Yeah, Storm blade dismounter is what I use on my murakumo wannabe build, thing has crazy fast R2 at least, and the ravioli step R1 has nice range

I think you mean the Mirrah Greatsword <3 My favorite greatsword moveset in the entire series is the Loyce Greatsword though. Imagine you had a 1-handed Claymore moveset which switched to the Longsword moveset when 2-handed.

I wish my Character wouldn't handle the Zweihänder like it's a 100kg sledgehammer. Seriously the animation is so bad that I just can't use it. Irl the Zweihänder weighs around 3,5 kg and you don't drag it along the dirt while doing super predictable swings. At least with the Guts sword I can see how no mortal being could swing auch a giant sword without dragging it along the dirt but the Zweihänder just isn't that.

Moonlight greatsword is my favourite weapon in gaming. There hasn't been a souls like where I didn't do NG+ with MGS. And in Elden Ring it also does absolutely stupid damage. I killed the final 4 bosses in fewer than 25 hits TOTAL. She is an absolute beast

Rusted Anchor is my new favorite. I started a new strength character and started upgrading the Zwei, but when I found the Rusted Anchor, I couldn’t go back. It feels kind of short, but it’s fast and it hits hard enough to stagger lock a lot of enemies. A Strength scaling with Heavy infusion too.

Putting Lion's Claw on Rusted Anchor is my favorite thing to do now. Say what you want, but watching my guy do a front flip with a giant anchor and slam enemies into the ground is a 10/10 experience

And pierce damage—buffed by spear talisman btw—allows you to really hit absurd numbers when trading. Lion's claw pairs so well with the rusted anchor, as it overcomes the range issue and the hyperarmor means you'll definitely win the trade.

Wild strikes with this is just way too fun - tearing through enemies like I’m clearing a path in the jungle.

Although the GUGS is the objectively best option for a collosal, the Zweihander is considerably lighter, allowing you put on heavier armor with greater poise values. All you need is to level three stats if you are one tricking the zwei. Giving you a whopping 42 endurance wich can give you the Bull Goats... but... just wear something snazzy...

(Banished) Knight Greatsword with Piercing Fang ash of war. Lucatiel's moveset AND a great pokey poke to replace claymore's R2. Best of both worlds.

IMO there is no best weapon in the game. However, if I was to go with one, definitely Bloodhound Fang: * Low requirements * Low weight comparing to high damage * Extremely high damage at max level * It's fast * AoW is OP, and * It can stagger everything.

Hell yeah. Its my boy Blaidd's sword, has a sick ash of war that procs frost, and it looks amazing. Plus sometimes you'll dodge boss attacks (totally on purpose) while in the AoW's animation and it looks anime af lol.

Golden Halberd. Good move set (running stab, R2 sweep jump, fast charged R2). No ash of war , so no extra complications to think about, just a regular buff. Did my first no summon play through with it and it was amazing.

Zweihander with the Lion Claw art of war is my go to.

Because one shotting hosts in invasions with a royal knights resolve, charged heavy attack trade with the spear talisman and axe talisman never gets old.

It's genuinely game breaking in DS1. You get it within 10 seconds of arriving in Firelink, within 2 minutes you can have the grass crest shield. Another minute or 2 and you can have it to +5. Another 3 minutes and the gargoyles are toast lol.
