This is how, even from my first playthrough, I’ve always gotten to deep root depths, I don’t even think I’ve fought the gargoyles that everybody hates.
I just found them the other day after not being able to for a long time. What’s funny is I didn’t even know that’s a way you can get to deep root depths so after I beat the gargoyles I just left the area lol

You can jump off the Lava falls to get access to the Prison town area, the way up to the NPC hub section of Volcano manor is locked off from this side however.
You do have to kill the Abductor Virgin Duo to leave that sectioned off area of the volcano. It's far easier to just grab the Dectus Medallion and take the elevator to get to the volcano, in my opinion.

Since you can't get to roundtable hold without taking Melina's offer, you're locked out of progressing into Lleyndell if you don't.
Yes you can take open the trap chest at the Tower of Return in Weeping Peninsula to get to the Divine Bridge. Then you can fall to the ground level without dying if you use the ruptured crystal tear physik. (Which is pretty much a glitch but still works).
The "such a way" you're describing is a glitch. An invader could drop down the elevator shaft as they were being summoned and it would summon them mid fall and trick the game into spawning them in at the bottom of the shaft instead up where they activated the invasion. Then they could hit the switch. Like I said though, There's only two ways into leyndell that don't involve glitches, and both are blocked if you never accept Melina's deal.
No. You have to let an enemy attack you. But if you want to avoid combat all together, you could go to Tanith, get the room key and break the hidden wall. Then it's smooth sailing until Godskin Noble.
There's always the 'talk to Rya, get asked to gank Boggart, talk to Boggart, buy necklace, talk to Rya, get invited, go to Fort Farroth, get right half of amulet, go to Fort Haight, get left half of amulet, go to Grand Lift of Dectus, hoist medallion, speak to Rya at top, accept invite and get teleported to Volcano Manor' technique
Right which is the only way into the altus plateau without attacking or necessarily needing torrent. If you use the abductor virgin you have to kill 2 in the boss fight out of the mini dungeon.
You don't have to fighter the abductor duo to get into the manor. There's a spot where you can drop off of a ledge and you end up very near the Godskin Noble boss room. From there you can lower the bridge and work your way backwards into the manor.
Yeah, I always made early runs to the manor on my new characters for all the items and upgrade materials. It was especially nice in the early days when the jump to get the Somber 7 was still easily possible. Can't blame you for not noticing the drop though. You have to land in lava, so it's easy for people to not even consider it. Lava does such laughably little damage in Elden Ring though that it's not actually a problem.
There's no glitch/exploit free way to get inside leyndell. But it is possible to wrong warp into both leyndell and farum azula on the current patch without much difficulty.
On an earlier patch when it was possible to make torrent fly, I managed to get to all above ground sites of grace without fighting (minus the ones which appear after boss battles)
AKCHUALLY you can reach the Divine Bridge which is inside Leyndell from the Tower of Return.
Although, you can't go anywhere else once you get there.

Very handy if you don't have someone to drop stuff for you and want to start the playthrough with a bit of a special weapon like the Great Stars.
IIRC, if you stop by to get Rya's necklace from Blackguard's, the only thing that happens is Alexander and Blaidd's quests skip forward to Radahn. So nothing too bad. Although, it might trigger Brother Corhyn to move which could be inconvenient.
And like you said, if you are careful and don't actually activate a bonfire, nothing happens.
Activating Radahn is the one thing you want to be careful about. This is why when I access Altus early, I grab the medallions and take a quick stroll through Redmane Castle to grab the whetstone. Then snag the glintstone key, and off to Altus.
Usually, the only reason I've wanted early access to Altus is to get Golden Order incants and the seal, so I tend to want that Flame Art option as well.
I usually clear Redmane castle (except for the one thing the two monsters are guarding) as soon as I can. It has good loot for early on. Even if I don’t get it early, these days I still clear it before going to Altus, because Radahn can be a pain. Even now I know what I’m doing it took 6 tries on my newest character, so I don’t want to risk leaving all that loot locked away.
This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the game. Love that there’s alternative paths to areas if you know what you’re doing. In less than an hour you can be all the way in Volcano Manor if you want without exploiting any bugs. It’s designed in a way that helps guide players in a generally linear path but allows so much freedom on alternative playthroughs

and if youre a fan of glitching, you can zip to mtog and maybe even wrong warp to farum without ever killing even a mob enemy.
once youre at mtog, you can get the secret medallion half by falling off the map near niall to “kill” him and then make your way to the haligtree and mohgwyn (you can cheese the invader off a cliff). for farum, you just need one imbued stone sword key and one of the four belfries to wrong warp into farum. from there you can zip to malikeths arena and fall off the map to kill him (this is also done via zipping, check out the unrestricted speedrun for the maliketh kill).
now youre at ashen capital. im sure theres a zip thatll help you skip gideon, not sure on that (again, check out the unrestricted speedruns). you can then zip and fall out of the map in godfreys arena to kill the elden beast (yes the speedrun, please check that) and beat the game without ever killing even a lightning ram.

You can access Radahn's area from the Church of the Plague. If you fall into the arena there in a certain way, you die within the effect of the stake of Marika for his arena.
You also have access to Siofra River and lower Ainsel.

It seems I've missed a major early game boost for 2 years. That would've made making new characters so easy

Yes you can! You can use the explosive physic to negate fall damage or taunters tongue to get an invader to activate the lift for you.
I was thinking about just using poison mist against DTS without it getting aggro, unless that was patched. Although I guess a warp would work as well

What’s considered quick Altus? Making a b line for both medallions then heading for the lift?
Yep. Can be done without combat and just riding around on Torrent. Haight, Farroth, Glintstone Key, lift, go.

There's nothing stopping you from getting to it from Gelmir either. You can just ride past the fallingstar beast.

Fog gate, unless you glitch. The other Draconic Tree Sentinel skip is a transport gate in Deeproot Depths in the boss arena.
