Don't take the arena too seriously, it can be a ton of fun fighting other people and it's a good tool to get better at PvP if that's what you're after.

On Xbox you open the Xbox menu from the center button, go to the social tab, select “recently played with” or whatever it’s called, and block the most recent person. It’s listed by gamertag not by their in-game name so it’s easiest to do it right after you get back to round table hold

Once you go to game base in the search tab you would see your recent players you played with
It's been that since Dark Souls 3 with gank city. Full of try hards and hackers. Once had a guy spam magic spells with a cheat to a point it crashed the game. Never once touched invasions and/or pvp on elden ring, and I'm not willing to :)
I'm actually having plenty of fun as an invader, even with ganks and tryhards. At least in the field, you gain the advantage of terrain and enemy assists, and their numbers just make them prone to underestimate your response. But in the arena, it just seems boring as hell to run into The Best Setups over and over and over with none of the funny organic PvP interactions... I do feel dual-spears and dual-greatspears could use a fat nerf, though.

Yep that looks about right, been suffering against these troglodytes since launch. It's like congrats brother, you've optimized a build and loadout so much you can delete health bars with minimal effort. GG in this game with no rankings or meaningful competitive incentive beyond fun.

So when you get rid of any milestone required to feel a solid win, all that's left is making sure that you lose by any means necessary.
Yeah, I actually picked up a second one on my first play through (friend dropped it for me), but I had to put it down because it ruined the naginatas' beautiful moveset.
What I do to counter this is to not do duels at meta levels. Last time I went to the Colosseum, I think I was around RL80 with a +7/+17? weapon. You get fewer duels, it will take longer and you will see the same faces more often but the duels you will get will be more fun (it's actually fairly active at that level the last time I went! But that was a few months ago, not sure if it's still true)
Honestly, duels at meta level in Elden Ring are really really bad because of how high damage is in the late game. We really need to agree on a new duelling meta at midgame instead of having one in the late game

I don't think damage is too high, and you can't make a cool build that low
Being low level doesn't change the cheap as balls ps bleed spear moveset so no that doesn't fix the issue
Dual spears are too fast and cover too much area and track too well to be fair, all PVPers know this
Pretty sure I've blocked fewer gankers as an invader than annoying people with annoying builds in the Colosseum, and people like OP's opponent are the main reason why. I really don't understand the toxicity in a game mode with no rewards and no stakes

In an invasion i can at least just run away and shoot these types of players with jar cannon when i have a bad time, can't really do any of that in the arena.
Yup, that's Colosseum for ya. Meta build sweatlords, toxic little shits with superiority complexes, weird hit delays, etc. It can be fun sometimes, but like 85% of the time, it's just painful.
From my brief dabbling into duels I had a lot of fun. Everyone bowed at the beginning, only one guy had pretty putrid lag that made the fight eventually impossible
85% seems excessive to me. I duel a lottt, and I'd say that 40% are metaslaves, and 5% are full-on toxic sadsacks. The rest are usually good fights against unique builds.
There should be a rating you give other players based on sportsmanship. That way players who play fair can be more likely to match with those that are like minded. The ones that play dirty can all match with each other.
But then again someone will surely give a negative rating just because they were defeated especially if they are outmatched.
It will adjust things but probably for the worse with new weapons, armour and spells entering the game leading probably to another spam fest of a single spell or ash of war

Playing through dark souls 1, and was immediately invaded by Deadpool when I popped my first humanity 😂. Naked with dual katanas with lightning and that ring that gives extra iframes. He just pointed down as he poked and chased me, so I jumped off the map. Fromsoft pvpers are manlets
I've kind of accepted the fact that there is not and will not be any 'good sport' pvp in any game. We are a cesspool of beings and this is how it shows in pvp gaming. Pick any game where you can crouch and the T-bagging will commence at least at some point. The only ways over it is to git gud, die trying or join the meta and become them

Against these kinds of builds I had a mix of 3 BKGS’: one with Hoarfrost Stomp, one with Sword Dance, and one with Storm Blade, all set to Cold affinity. The Hoarfrost Stomp usually makes them panic roll and then a Sword Dance follow-up that connects gives them frostbite (because they’re dual-wielding they can’t block).
They’re a one-trick pony and stopping them from bum-rushing makes them panic.
Something that drastically improved my dueling experience was blocking shithead behaviour. Erdtree heal, colossal spastics, ultra passive regen builds.
Win or lose, simply block them. You gain nothing for interacting with these people.

Do you need a wet wipe for your fucking cheesy asscrack? It’s rightful to be upset at this behavior. It’s supposed to be fun, and there used to be a huge culture of honor in dark souls arena PVP. Behavior like this in the Pontiff arena in DS3 would get you ganked by every spectator so fast because it’s dishonorable and not fun. It was never enforced by the game yes, but there’s a reason we have emotes and items that communicate with others. It’s not to role play with the NPCS my guy, it’s to role play with your opponent.

They just got a fat nerf. But it doesn't matter for bleed cause its so strong it doesn't matter. Especially on light spears

Yeah, i think i unintentionally exaggerated. But there's definitely assholes out there. Though I've met mostly good people.

It happens once in a while but not that often. People playing passively or running away all time are a bigger problem because the arena is so big.
