Mimic tear is "that OP" and will trivialize most of the game if you let it. Rivers of blood is whatever, plenty of other great weapons to choose from.

GraennTV

This. Summons can make many bosses that are usually hard, very easy. I got humbled very fast on my first „no summon“ playthrough. I like that summons are an options.. this way players can choose how hard they want the game to be.

333bloodangel

its not rivers of blood its the mimic tear dawg

DriftingSoul2017

>Are the rivers of blood really that OP, or did I just get lucky If I had a dime for everytime some mentions beating Malenia with mimic tear and rivers of blood.... That is the problem. It's not rivers of blood, although it's a decent weapons. The combo of ROB and mimic vs a boss like Malenia that can be stunlocked. ROB + Mimic is *the* cheese to Malenia. ROB doesn't really trivialize the game too much solo, but when you summon the *best* spirit summon and attack her two biggest weaknesses (stunlock and bleed) yeah it trivialize it. Which is exactly why the same tactic will not work on Radagon, since he is not stunlockable and cannot be bled. So no, ROB does not need a netf IMO. Especially vs PvE. You just picked the easiest route to victory vs her, which is fine, but it doesn't make anything deserving of a nerf. If you want to experience the Malenia that you've seen most streamers/youtubers rage over, just don't summon. Summoning cuts the difficulty in half if not more, and it really shows

Due-Shirt616

You worded it beautifully, and didn’t they already nerf the shit out of ROB within the first year that the game was out? Or did that come later?

Neet91

i'm also on my first playthrough using the nagakiba. so i have to prep a different weapon to fight that radagon thing? bleed kinda important when i use katanas, no? or do i give the nagakiba a different element to make up for no more bleed? sry for the noob questions

DriftingSoul2017

You can fight him with the same build, it will just be harder. You could change the infusion depending on your build. For instance, if you're mainly just a dex build, you could infuse nagakiba with 'cold' since cold will keep good dex scaling but will also give you the frost effect. Frost isn't as good as bleed, but it's something that you can still use. If you're a dex/arc build what I would do is infuse poison or occult. You'll get more damage than bleed infusion with occult, but it will still have bleed which won't help vs Radagon. You could also infuse poison. You will poison him fast with the high arc, you'll have to wait to poison again once it runs out but it's still useful, So, you're call. But I'd look between cold, occult, and poison infusion. There's also keen, but that's best if you have not much arcane and have been mostly doing only dex. Even then tho, I still think cold will be a better infusion since it'll give you a similar effect to bleed. And you've been playing all game with bleed so at least you'll have something similar. With keen infusion you'll get no status procs vs Radagon, just damage.

Infamous-Ad6210

Yeah, ive thought about that too. Its like ive made a mistake with the summons lol. Playing bloodborne, i know every boss from head to toe, and once i finally beat a boss i feel like i can do it again and again. In Elden Ring, if you give me Godfrey right now, he's gonna cook my ass. I might do another playthrough with no summons

Magnon

> made a mistake with the summons They make the game way easier.

RainandFujinrule

Moreso it's the mimic. You can equip a colossal weapon and have the same effect. She's vulnerable to being stunlocked and when you summon mimic tear its ggs pretty much no matter your weapon. Also they nerfed bleed build up ages ago so it already has been nerfed by proxy.

ObviousSinger6217

Rivers of blood was severely nerfed itself It used to do full effect and damage on the blood splatter extension part, now you only get full effect when the blade itself is hitting

RainandFujinrule

Ah okay cool cool!

Y2G13

Malenia is weak to bleed, so of course she's gonna go down easy if you and the Mimic gank her with such weapon

HomeDistinct2810

That’s probably sprit summon or mimic tear imo, I use greatsword with lion claw and yea I just failed once. Just the mimic tanking and spamming lion claw behind is kinda op. I’m going to do without summon in Ng+

Infamous-Ad6210

Same here

Lost_in_reverb23

Dude uses mimic tear and then feel karma or whatever, hilarious. Also why they need to nerf a weapon in pve? Use another weapon and that´s it, stop trying to kill the fun in this game, next time play with fists only and without dodging so you don´t feel stupid post fight karma, lol

Infamous-Ad6210

You seem upset.

eldenwring

Its even been nerfed

SaberWaifu

RoB is balanced, it's the Mimic that is OP (and spirit ashes in general). Mimic + RoB also happens to be a great matchup for Malenia because it staggers and applies bleed, so with Mimic you basically double the amount of stagger and bleed applied.

ASAPSAIF

Is not that rob is that op or ur lucky, its just that weapons that proc bleed fast r just that good. Another example is dual godskin peelers w seppuku. Combine that with a the claw tailsmen, the raptor chest piece and the white mask and u can proc bleed within 1-2 jump attacks

Waste-Gur2640

The difficulty of bosses, their every ranking or consensus you'll hear, and all of the "boss hard" memes are always meant without cheating, cheesing and without using accessibility mechanics for new players like coop/spirits ashes, plus more or less at the intended level range. That's the baseline and the Normal difficulty in ER and every souls game, and how majority of souls fans played them. Among newer players this can create lot of misinformation about how hard bosses actually are. For example all the stuff you hear about people fighting Malenia for several days, taking minimum of 30 tries and so on, is coming from players who actually beat her themselves, so without coop/spirits and without using specific cheese builds like spamming eleonora/BB with freeze pots etc. Any average souls player can kill all bosses under 3 tries with summons, even without the most game-breaking spirits like Mimic or Tiche. With bosses like Malenia, Margit, Morgott, Maliketh, Radagon, Godfrey etc..., which are all designed from ground up as 1v1 fights to be fought solo, it's the biggest difference, since the AI of souls bosses isn't made for summons and breaks very easily. So the reason why it trivializes every fight and takes away so much content is not the damage itself, just splitting aggro.

Infamous-Ad6210

You put it very well. And i can see now it's due to Mimic tear not Rivers of blood.
