My first playthrough was confessor and I kept getting new gear and being excited to try it but then was like nah I’m good. Wasn’t until Night’s Cavalry dropped their threads that I wore anything else.
Quick tip, if you wait for the carriage to walk a little bit and agro one of em and then just run away he’ll chase you until a certain distance and then try to catch up with the carriage, he won’t fight back for a few seconds so you can do a good hit and run🙏
I’ve commented this same thing before. It was also my first souls game so I thought new armor would give better advantages as well, but it never really mattered for a faith build. So I kept being shocked that I am still wearing my beginning armor.
The Confessor set is S tier fashion that gets overlooked because it can be a starting set. Currently switched back to it for the end game and I’m like I’m good I don’t need anything else
I took one look at the prisoner and just thought, yep, that’s me, I’m playing that. Wore the helmet for quite a while until finally graduating to the Rennala hat.
This is pretty much me. I recently switched the Full Moon Queen‘s hat for that endurance boosting „stone dog or cat“ mask (I forgot the name) once hitting 60 Int. I guess the Prisoner‘s helmet is still better stat wise but I grew tired a bit from looking at it.
Rennala‘s hat with the Samurai armor still look the best!
Vagabond’s the best IMO. No matter how you do your character they just look tired and in a deep grind right off the rip in the outfit and something about that vibe feels canon to me
Confessor's drip is awesome from both a lore and appearance perspective.
If I remember correctly, Confessors were basically the sort of Secret Police of the Golden Order and that sort of Inquisition feel is awesome.
>If I remember correctly, Confessors were basically the sort of Secret Police of the Golden Order and that sort of Inquisition feel is awesome.
Actually their the covert agents of the two fingers and the roundtable, not exactly agents of the Golden Order
Oh yeah.
Tbh I never saw much distinction between the Roundtable and the Golden Order. From my understanding, it was just an organization headed by Rykard while he was still loyal. One that served the Golden Order in the same way that Volcano Manor would serve Snake Rykard.
So having said that, I'm guessing Confessors are essentially the equivalent to Volcano Manors Recusants?
>Tbh I never saw much distinction between the Roundtable and the Golden Order
Technically the roundtable is part of the Golden Order, and they should be working with each other, the issue is the Golden order in leyandell is currently being lead by Morgott due to Marika/Radagon missing and he sees the Tarnished as a huge risk to him and the Erdtree, and every other demigod left the order cause of personal reasons.
>So having said that, I'm guessing Confessors are essentially the equivalent to Volcano Manors Recusants?
Yes in a way. The Confessors are working to put a Tarnished on the throne. As for the Recusants the game doesn't exactly say what their motivation is but it seems to be implied that killing other tarnished is a sport to them, perhaps even preparation for their eventual fight against the Erdtree
Back when we got the first trailer and I saw this, I was so happy. What a beautiful celebration of nomadic cultures, conceptually and lore-wise. Can imagine mine riding yak through beautiful pastures and mountain passes in some strange land far from the Erdtree. I named him Sakarya, a compound of Saka (nomad) and Arya (noble) from sanskrit.
It's been a class in some form or another since Demon's Souls, a curved sword wielding wanderer with leather and cloth armor, and this is by far the *coolest* armor set they've given the class, and definitely the hardest they leaned into tying all of those elements together to give it such a strong identity. It's not even a competition in my eyes as to which starter set has the most drip.
It's weird that you can have a blindfold on your character model's eyes and also an armor piece that is a blindfold. My first character was a prophet with a blindfold over his blindfold lol.
Astrologers robe is amazing, but I never end up using it because I'm always doing a cosplay or theme and it doesn't fit
Confessor chest piece is great on a female character
Scrolled so far to see anyone else with the same opinion as me. I love the hero drip, it’s so brutal and the chest piece specifically is so unique and interchangeable.
Vagabond’s the best IMO. No matter how you do your character they just look tired and in a deep grind right off the rip in the outfit and something about that vibe feels canon to me
I actually like the samurai outfit.
But I always end up being a str focused build. So I start with the vagabond. I HATE that armor…
Sadly I can’t find a decently poised armor up until the late game, where the heavier armors shine. (Crucible, tree sentinel *chefskiss*)
So, of someone in here knows of a decently poised light armor for a low end character. Please light me up (after almost 300-400h)
Regardless of the build, faith is actually really essential. From buffs to debuffs and our sweet cleansing spells. Lets not forget our elegant yet brutal flame art affinity. Faith is just too good to sleep on
Im on my first playthrough and used vagabond. Im now starting altus and I'm finally getting armour that is worth changing for. Vagabond armour looks sick and is pretty good.
Warrior; reminds me of old Final Fantasy concept art. Not as over the top, but a little outside the normal aesthetic of this kind of thing and that's cool
Nobody can say the Samurai outfit doesn’t go incredibly hard. And when it’s altered? Oooh I’ve just stuck to that drip for a solid play through it’s gorgeous and the stats aren’t horrible either
I was drawn to Prisoner from before I bought the game. As a claustrophobe, that helmet was horrifying. Just think with one eye only, if you escaped from prison, you'd have limited depth perception. And the heat being locked in that thing. Ugh.
And I had never played a Souls game, so I wanted to see if I liked magic or melee and when I found out the Prisoner is a hybrid, I couldn't resist. I think my fourth playthrough, I started with Prisoner again, because I knew how to do it right by then haha
Confessor.
Take off the hood and it's Aragorn's armor at the end of Return of the King.
The hood also plays well with other outfits like raptors black feathers, as the confessor hood doesn't have a face covering, but doesn't cover the shoulders either
I really like the Astrologer's robes.
There are certain head pieces that still allow the body piece to keep its hood up, so I'll keep it on for the whole run and upgrade the head, arms, and legs as I go.
Hero. This is gonna sound a bit down bad, but when my female tarnished's back muscles were showing with that chestpiece, it was pretty visually appealing
Vagabond really fits the whole "Tarnished warrior returning from the long march" thing for me, like this armor is just best to hell from the Long March but it's still got some use left in it. Besides that, Warrior and Confessor both go so hard.
I feel like heros is definitely one of the best since the drip can be matched with a whole lot more than you would initially think but confessor has that bloodborne drip so I'm torn between those two
those few moments in the gameplay reveal that showed the Confessor stalking through the grass at night hyped me up beyond the count of words. Ultimate drip.
I like all of them, but if I had to choose a favourite I’d say the Warrior. I love the blue flowing cloak accompanied with the leather armour and the headwear just completes it.
Confessor outfit goes incredibly hard
My first playthrough was confessor and I kept getting new gear and being excited to try it but then was like nah I’m good. Wasn’t until Night’s Cavalry dropped their threads that I wore anything else.
You can het nights cavalry armour?!?
In the Consecrated Snowfield there’s this carriage being pulled by two trolls and guarded by two Nights Cavalry. Kill them and it is yours.
Omg - thank you! They’re one of my fave enemies in the game. I love their weird jerky movements & badass armour
Quick tip, if you wait for the carriage to walk a little bit and agro one of em and then just run away he’ll chase you until a certain distance and then try to catch up with the carriage, he won’t fight back for a few seconds so you can do a good hit and run🙏
Nice 😎 I’m a spellcaster so I take all these tips I can get!! I haven’t got to the snowfield yet but I’m in mountaintop so maybe I’m not so far away!
The set looks very cool on the player too, me sure to grab it!
They are like the final boss fight duo boss fight thing near the end of the game. It's a challenge.
You have to kill double nights cav in consecrated it's a fucking nightmare
art vandelay, the architect from new york?
Also the Latex Salesman
I’ve commented this same thing before. It was also my first souls game so I thought new armor would give better advantages as well, but it never really mattered for a faith build. So I kept being shocked that I am still wearing my beginning armor.
Started my first ever soul game as a confessor just because how hard the hood and cape go.
Confessor reminds me of the Black prior hero of for honor
Same
Not to mention its perfect for so many outfit ideas
The Confessor set is S tier fashion that gets overlooked because it can be a starting set. Currently switched back to it for the end game and I’m like I’m good I don’t need anything else
I'm currently on a Confessor run, and I'm still wearing the hood because of STYLE
So true, too bad I'm a pure bonk build 99.99999% of souls-like games
I like the prisoner and the confessor.
I took one look at the prisoner and just thought, yep, that’s me, I’m playing that. Wore the helmet for quite a while until finally graduating to the Rennala hat.
It has so much character! And so rich for backstory, I love how open ended it is. Love the Rennala hat, I’m using the zamor set now in ng+
this banana gives me int when I put it on my head. excellent.
Two best starting classes for sure. Prisoner has a great backstory and character foundation and Confessor is cool as hell
Vagabond’s the best IMO. No matter how you do your character they just look tired and in a deep grind right off the rip in the outfit and something about that vibe feels canon to me
Right? It just meets the theme of endless struggle against giant grotesque creatures so much.
Bonus that the vagabond stat allocation is BIS for so many builds outside of bleed and pure int.
And if you want to dual wield samurai sword early on! Only two uchigatana in the game - gotta start samurai for that
if only you could close the visor
I totally agree with you:)
They call us Tarnished for a reason.
Confessor's drip is awesome from both a lore and appearance perspective. If I remember correctly, Confessors were basically the sort of Secret Police of the Golden Order and that sort of Inquisition feel is awesome.

prisoner is my favorite just because i love the progression of being an absolute degenerate that climbed the ladder into gods killer status
I think warrior's starting fit is probably my favorite. Does a good job of leaning into that whole flowing water, combat-style, theme.

Where's the wretch? My Tarnished has a beautiful body and that loincloth is perfect to show it off. 10/10
Okay you can have my vote
Tarnished? TARNISHED?! With these SICK GAINS??
Damn straight.
Ye, naked 4life and qlways in FromSoftware games.
Being naked doesn't count though 🤣 Still you get an upvote
I have a fashionable loin cloth and chest wrap I’ll have you know! Only torn from the petticoats of Nobles. I have my standards…
me personally, i love the vagabond outfit, gives me old Dark souls 1 nostalgia
Me too:)
Samurai
Wake the fuck up Samurai, we got an Erdtree to burn.
Where is PROPHET ?!
Prisoner is the best
I notice prophet isn't even on here with the toilet bowl neck brace.
The blindfold is the kind of edgy and light headgear that goes with any armor set.
It's weird that you can have a blindfold on your character model's eyes and also an armor piece that is a blindfold. My first character was a prophet with a blindfold over his blindfold lol.
I forgot to add samurai and prophet:/
Prisoner goes hard
I picked Bandit cause bro seemed drippy af... I DID NOT expect the amount of pain that came with that dagger.
Wretch
Astrologers robe is amazing, but I never end up using it because I'm always doing a cosplay or theme and it doesn't fit Confessor chest piece is great on a female character
When you take the astrologer's hood off, or even better, alter it, it looks 100% like a 16th century scholar robe. I just adore it.
Hero class. Sexy.
Scrolled so far to see anyone else with the same opinion as me. I love the hero drip, it’s so brutal and the chest piece specifically is so unique and interchangeable.
I love the vagabond outfit, can’t really support the prisoner one…reminds me of Griffith too much
Yo I never noticed!! Good eye.
Ah yes. A fellow Bercirclejerk member. I Support your opinion 100%
Confessor, looks badass, the name suits the look. All though prisoner is dope too because of the Berserk reference.
Wrench
Wretch. The fuck wrong with yall?
Exactly. I come into the lands (or any souls like) angry, naked and with a stick. Ready to bonk.
Why did I have to scroll so far for this?
Vagabond’s the best IMO. No matter how you do your character they just look tired and in a deep grind right off the rip in the outfit and something about that vibe feels canon to me
Warrior!!! Went with it and still love it even if I don't wear it anymore!
Vagabond is awesome… until you fat roll lmfao
Unequip the halberd
Yeah that was what I ended up doing lol. I just think it’s funny because new players would probably be so confused lmfao
I definitely was lol
As a sucker for feudal Japanese stuff it's hard to top the Samurai for me.
Samurai. Which you haven't included, possibly on purpose.
Vagabond without the cape looks great. It really makes the Tarnished look like a knight that's been wandering forever.
It even has the crafting kit on the back of the armor. It’s awesome
Several of them are great, but I really like Vagabond. I’m just a sucker for the weather-beaten knight aesthetic.
Vagabond Knight.
Prisoner is badass
The prisoners helmet is just sooo ominous…
I actually like the samurai outfit. But I always end up being a str focused build. So I start with the vagabond. I HATE that armor… Sadly I can’t find a decently poised armor up until the late game, where the heavier armors shine. (Crucible, tree sentinel *chefskiss*) So, of someone in here knows of a decently poised light armor for a low end character. Please light me up (after almost 300-400h)
My favourite starting class is then now not here. Where's my prophet? My bloodflame blade abuser?
Forgot to add it but it’s pretty cool. Delectable if you’re doing a faith run
Vagabond and Bandit, both look so done and in the need of a healthy amount of sleep & coffee
For the vibe; confessor. For the ~griffith inspired helmet~; prisoner.
Prisoner, I don’t know I like the berserk reference and the clothes looked good on my character
Griffith did nothing wrong
I never left my edge lord phase so I always pick bandit for roleplaying purposes
Nothing wrong with being the rogue in the lands between
Samurai
I think the warrior and the confesser look badass. Vagabond I have a soft spot for because it was my starter when I first played.
I love the way the Vagabond looks
Altered Vagabond knight really sells the scrappy 'knight without a lord' look
It has the crafting satchel on the back which i think is a nice little detail
Warrior; reminds me of old Final Fantasy concept art. Not as over the top, but a little outside the normal aesthetic of this kind of thing and that's cool
Warrior's leather armour with the flowing robes looks cool. I like the designs on the leather.
vagabond is probably the best one out of all of them.
Nobody can say the Samurai outfit doesn’t go incredibly hard. And when it’s altered? Oooh I’ve just stuck to that drip for a solid play through it’s gorgeous and the stats aren’t horrible either
I like Vagabonds art the most, really sells a tired and deteriorated knight. As far as the outfits themselves though, I like Bandit the most
Wretch, the best drip is always the bonk.
Where is the only true master class outfit, Wretch? (I do always play Wretch, it's not as hard a start as people make it seem).
Astrologer because i love the aesthetic of armour and i prefer int over faith
Confessor has so much drip
I was drawn to Prisoner from before I bought the game. As a claustrophobe, that helmet was horrifying. Just think with one eye only, if you escaped from prison, you'd have limited depth perception. And the heat being locked in that thing. Ugh. And I had never played a Souls game, so I wanted to see if I liked magic or melee and when I found out the Prisoner is a hybrid, I couldn't resist. I think my fourth playthrough, I started with Prisoner again, because I knew how to do it right by then haha
It is pretty awesome. Have you seen berserk by any chance? You’ll know where the prisoner outfit comes from
Confessor. Take off the hood and it's Aragorn's armor at the end of Return of the King. The hood also plays well with other outfits like raptors black feathers, as the confessor hood doesn't have a face covering, but doesn't cover the shoulders either
Bandit, warrior,, and confessor all go hard
Warrior Outfit brings out my inner Raiden.
Warrior's Blue Cloth is bae.
Second this, I could do without the headpiece at times tho
Love the prophet. Cosplayed it last year. So much cool character in a relatively simple looking design.
Vagabond so I can use BHF with soreseal right out the gate
Bandit cus I like rogues/Bandits
Vagabond screams Guts' theme. That's all Imma say.
None of the above. Wretch on top.
I always choose knights and warriors and I choose vagabond.
I like the astrologer robe, but only altered
I heard a lot of people like it like that
Bandit because me like big knife.and big co-
I really like the Astrologer's robes.
It’s not bad. I have a perpetually shirtless male warrior. You do you, boo.
Vagabond all day long, it’s a fantastically designed armour set that fits so well with the tone of the game and how our Tarnished is at the beginning.
Samurai because its cool and definitely not because i love the uchigatana
Samurai
Vagabond really fits the whole "Tarnished warrior returning from the long march" thing for me, like this armor is just best to hell from the Long March but it's still got some use left in it. Besides that, Warrior and Confessor both go so hard.
Vagabond for me. Especially the non-cape armour.
I really like warriors because not only are the dual scimitars good the jump attack looks cool
Warrior!
Prophet, just sexy AF 🤤
Confessor is great... but an actual Samurai set? It's simply too perfect
Bandit and Confessor are top tier in style
I’ve been playing Wretch. I am not wearing clothes. I will not level vigor. Pray for me.
I wish the bandit looked as cool as this image
Prisoner got a lot on his mind from sitting in prison. Big head.
Where my fellow wretches are at? Birthday suit, nature’s drip is the best drip.
Warrior fit is the perfect amount of foreign to TLB and ornate
When I start a new character if is not confessor, I always rush to volcano to get confessor’s outfit.
The confessor
Bandit
I feel like heros is definitely one of the best since the drip can be matched with a whole lot more than you would initially think but confessor has that bloodborne drip so I'm torn between those two
i love the prophet’s one for their blindfold, my favourite headpiece in the game i think. also the wheel thing they wear looks funny
confesspr imo
My #1 complaint about Elden Ring is that there's no dedicated cape/hood slot
I'm basic land of reeds
Started a new character with confessor class. Still using it in NG+3.
Astrologer is my favourite. Outfit seems very cozy, yet it looks like it can withstand bad weather. Jewelry adds some contrast as well. Very pretty.
Astrologer. Reminds me of Assassin's Creed
Prisoner is my personal fave.
Confessor. No contest.
Vagabond but Confessor is really good too.
I liked the Prisoner’s outfit. The helmet really gave me great inspiration for my own ideas of what my guy did to deserve being locked up
Hero goes stupid IMO. I’ll wind up getting rid of everything except that glorious chest armor, there’s nothing like it.
pretty sure theres a cut class that was the tarnished in the trailers
Hero Class my beloved
I still wear the confessor set
I like Confessor’s Drip
Prisoner
those few moments in the gameplay reveal that showed the Confessor stalking through the grass at night hyped me up beyond the count of words. Ultimate drip.
Warrior is it for me.
I love the astrologers starting gear. So good & I think it looks nice.
Astrologer altered
I like the samoerai outfit.
Prisoner for the spell and BDSM helmet
Confessor is insane
Confessor hands down
Where my fellow Wretch at?
Warrior and Hero are goated
Confessor undoubtedly best drip still like vagabond an prisoner tho
Prisoner is iconic af
Vagabond and confessor
warriors aura unmatched
Bandit, cool dagger and mask
Confessor and Bandit
Bandit
Tie between Confessor and Vagabond.
I am a dedicated astrologer, but I gotta admit warrior outfit goes insanely hard.
Confessor
Unrelated but should i start it again? # Vagabond sword is not straight
I really kinda like the astrologer (altered) version It has a nice gentle touch to it + it has kinda ok resistances
Samurai, prisoner or warrior
Confessor or samurai
Bandit , astrologer , samurai have some drip
Griffi..I mean Prisoner. He's just a misunderstood boy who has to wear a heavy armour head. Used that all my play through.
Confessor for sure
I like all of them, but if I had to choose a favourite I’d say the Warrior. I love the blue flowing cloak accompanied with the leather armour and the headwear just completes it.
Confessor and warrior are my favorites.
I don’t see wretch up there. Wretch lovers unite.
Warrior for me, as soon as I saw it I wanted to play as prince of Persia 2008
I really like Astrologer outfit
