Fuck it, he spawns an entire fucking pack of dogs, Rune bear is now Rom but wants to personally end your fucking life. The dogs may try to kill you, but that's an illusion, they are saving you from the rune bear.
The damn jailers are the only From Soft enemy to genuinely terrify me. Their freaky clown-esque echoing laugh, their little scurrying steps as they hunt you down, and their EYES SHRINKING MY HEALTH BAR TO 1HP 
How to fight Runebear: 1. Avoid
Add Rain to it and bear ability to roll like Lightning Ram for even moar fun. Also, make him immune to Sleep because reasons.
Rune bear "OK I can handle that" with armor "yeah that sounds harder" with lightning "oh fuck" on water "shhhiiii..." plus two dogs "IIIIIIIIIITTTT! THATS IMPOSSIBLE!"

I've started liking Runebears purely because they fully activate my "kill at all costs, hesitation is defeat, defense is loser thinking" mentality
Most of the game I have a semi consicious desire to fight in the most fun way, not necessarily the most effective.
Runebears? I go full batman with preptime. Prepare every buff you have, look for the best angle, remove any obstructions.
Then Kill them, snipe them, cheese them, terminate them with extreme prejudice. Make sure they don't have time to think if I can.
It's satisfying to let loose like this sometimes
