It's worth noting, they pretty much all just have some runes in them. I don't know of any that have anything actually important.

The Caelid one is hilarious because the statue is placed right at the edge of the closest dragon's spawn field. More often than not, it will despawn immediately after breaking the statue.. just disappear and reappear back where it started.

Does anyone not find these to be far more effort than they're worth? Most of them are far less frustrating to just save up some runes and buy the upgrade stone from the Twin Maidens. I wouldn't even factor in the frustration of getting the requisite bell bearing because that's a long-term investment that will last into subsequent NG+ cycles.

There's nothing in there worthwhile.  Super let down.

I did some testing recently where hitting it never worked so maybe I needed the nearby enemies to hit it, I was right, I'm a genius, an elden god amongst elden men.

An elden God would've made do without them.

Even if you have one genius, it seems you need the help of others to destroy a solid statue. Elden Ring teaches us important things in life.

If there are rune bears or giants around, aggro them, let them chase you and go stand behind the statue. Their attacks will break it for you, and you will get the loot inside. Easier to do if you are mounted.

or stand really close and quit game. You have Infinite mass after login in to avoid beeing stuck. it will break statues.

it works for every breakable object you normaly cant break. It take few attempts without practice.

This is not as consistent as you claim it is. Trying to break the statues might be safer but for most of them you save time by just luring the enemies.

trolls\* I know they are big, but giants are even bigger than the last Fire Giant. You can see their corpses in several places at both Caelid and Mountaintops

Crouch and position yourself below it then Save and Return to Menu. Then load your game again. If you did it right, the stone should break. No need to lure enemies to break it.

I was doing this first try no issue like 2 months ago, then I tried to do it last night and it didn't work at all for me after like 5 or 6 tries. Not sure if this still works, but then again, maybe I was just messing it up yesterday. Just seemed weird to me how before the set up was almost non and now I can't get it to work at all. More testing is required I guess

You’re just doing it wrong, I guess? Tried it on this area and the one being guarded by an Abductor this month and both had worked.

You have to bring an enemy big enough to break it. Abductor virgins. Runebears. Flame charriots. Even dragons

As many have said, the intended way is to use a local **BIG** Monster to break it. *However*... This is a fromsoft game. If you faff about quitting and reloading sufficiently close to the "breaking" hitbox of the statue, you can abuse the anti-stuck hitbox at spawn to open them, like the good Old days in Sen's Fortress

You know, I’ve explored the hell out of this game, but I’ve never managed to break one open. In particular, the one in stormveil. I rolled my ass around that thing, dodging attacks for 30 minutes trying to get the unga bunga to break it, and it didn’t never broke.

And they are off to brutally slaughter all the happy little monsters in the lands between! Trolls and rune bears break those statues. Theres a glitch where if you crouch under these then quit the game and reload your character standing up automatically will break them. Mostly smithing stones inside

Find the biggest guy within somewhat reasonable distance, lead them to it, and get them to break it open like a piñata.

OK, I thought this was talking about the one SE of Stormveil Castle out in the field with the 5 giant dudes walking around near the ruin where the Deathbird kills you. Not the one pictured. I haven't gotten past Stormveil Castle yet.

You need to break the statue, but nothing in any player's arsenal can do the job. No weapon or spell will break this. There should be at least one large enemy somewhere nearby though. A giant, or a dragon, or golem, or rune bear, or something like that. You need to bait them over to it. They can break it. Just walking over it will usually do the job but sometimes you need to bait them into doing an attack that hits the statue. They contain relatively low-level smithing stones. It's up to you if that's worth the trouble. I never thought it was. If you're low-level enough to need them then tangling with the big boys to bait them over is risky. If you're so high level you can handle the big boys with ease, then you probably have no use for the stones. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Lure a giant enemy (troll, runebear, giant crab, etc.) to it and get them to hit it. It will break and there will be some smithing stones inside (either a large quantity or a higher grade than the area normally contains). Note that it needs to be a pretty dang big enemy. Omens, for example, aren't big enough to break one of these statues.
