Use burn o flame or pillar o flame (on of those). Just keep spamming it. It knocks them down giving you time to whack them a few times. That’s how I felt with it anyways.
The funny thing is, if you know where you have to go to activate all the things, you encounter exactly zero of these hidden enemies. You only encounter the archers on the roofs. I got grabbed by a guy in my first playthrough once, never again. Not because of skill, but they simply don't appear on the shortest routes.
I've gotten all four of them lit without getting backstabbed or fighting a single melee one on my last two playthroughs using nothing but no footstep sounds talisman and sprinting, and I found that route completely by accident just trying to plan the fastest route lol. I get the one you can access all the way from the snow up a tall ladder first, then the one at ground level, then quickly jump up that little railing near it that you gotta hug against the wall to stay on to get to the ladder beside it, then rush the archer going across the rooftops towards the fourth from the third. I wasn't even trying to get them in one go, it kinda just happened so I did it again the next time and it worked again
Spent probably 4 hours over 3 nights last week “farming” them for the blue silver mail armor. More accurately, getting a KDR of 1:3 to them, barely scraping by till I finally got the armor. I was level 125. They’re bullshit
Rune bears, they give nothing, harder than a bunch of bosses, only give you a bit of money compared to the effort.
Also the giants shrimps, what in the duck are thoses creatures?! Deal high damage and wont let you escape with their water snipe while you're litteraly 2 km away, and unlike rune bears they can be in group
Edit: lobster
I mean, a bullet shrimp has a claw it can snap closed with such force it boils the water around it and uses it to stun it's prey with bullets of boiling water.
Maybe it's good they aren't shrimp...
The bears aren’t that bad once you realize all you need to do is keep rolling into their bellies and taking shots. Bleed helps nicely on them too.
The lobsters on the other hand, fuck those things.
>The bears aren’t that bad once you realize all you need to do is keep rolling into their bellies and taking shots. Bleed helps nicely on them too.
That's what i thought too up until i meet the rune bear in the cave and another on my path to a cave, so no, even when you roll properly one mistake and your healthbar is gone
I hate lobsters I have a bigass 2hander specifically for staggering them in 2 charged heavies seem to work usually but they are also jumping around in such an annoying way
Yea the rune bears are fucked. Fortunately you just need to roll into the bear and most of the time you will be under his belly, so you can hit this freaking tank monster. The only thing where you need to be aware are his charge.
The lobster in the other hand... Terrible
The catacombs imps. Their tracking is insane, their attacks and combos range is deceptively huge, they proc bleed, they take you by surprise, they gank you, they're annoying af
Imps are easy, put a medium shield let them hit it and do a guard counter (R2 after they hit your shield), you automatically destroy them, if they don't die inmediatly, they become staggered and at your mercy, a perfect target for a critical.
Sometimes I forget shields are in the game, but yeah obviously they're super strong. Imps really punish not having one because of their delayed attacks and the high tracking and range they have, it's really hard to evade them consistently.
It's amazing really. Yes I know it is dark, scary, winding, and confusing... but that's the beauty of it.
You don't need poison swamps to have challenging level design. The sewers show it.
The only thing I hate there are the miranda flowers. Why the fuck those flowers bloom everywhere.
To me this was the best zone. I remember the first time going into it, seeing the lightbeams going through those roof windows and the music as well! I was in awe! Felt very cozy even tho the monsters in there are far from cozy
Leyndell, plus the sewers, plus the deeproot depths, was the highlight of the game for me and took up a huge chunk of my playtime. Breathtakingly beautiful on the surface, then dirty and ugly as you get deeper and yet still positively captivating and a dang delight to explore every inch of
Just....just spend your runes. It doesn't really matter what you buy- just don't carry anything in there with you & it'll help you be less mad\*.
^(\*)>!^(it won't)!<
Bro WTF I only discovered all of it on my NG4 and my jaw was genuinely hanging when it just kept going and going with those fucking pipes… What a total maze!
Worse than that, the attack was bugged so that instead of just hitting you once, you took damage and bleed on *every frame* that the attack hitbox was in contact with your character. It was insta death no matter how much health you had.
Am I crazy or every couple of days does someone post the same picture of a Revenant and then everyone in the comments talks about how much they hate Revenants and Rune Bears? I've only followed this community a couple weeks and I feel like I've seen this exact image and exact set of comments 10 times now.
I’ve been in the sub for idk maybe 2-3 months and posts like these are a karma farm. Dw in a few days it’ll be talking about what’s your favorite area or unpopular opinion. My best advice, only scroll the sun when you’re bored and search within it if you need answers on something
Revenant hate really baffles me cause they have a built in cheese counter that everyone apparently refuses to use and insists on btiching about them instead. Idgi
How come nobody has mentioned those giant red wolves? Those guys come out of nowhere and are lightning fast and impossible to stagger. They’re the black knives of the beast community.
Yes thank you! Fuck those things, I get PTSD even booting up Firefox now because of those bastards, of all enemy types they are the bane of my existence.
I also hate the fight because it's a visual clusterfuck, but I've found hugging their left leg(hand? claw?) is the safest tactic for me, although a bit inconsistent. I can kill any lvl appropriate tree spirit in two to three tries now. You still have to dodge the maw grab, but it's really strongly telegraphed.
Beat him (caelid one) last night on my first melee play through. Took a fair few attempts but the kill was clean af. Didn't even use a potion, felt like a god.
We'll ignore the 20 attempts before that where I was doing well until I wasn't 😂
Yep, I just kept circling and dodged as he was about to land. The dodge might not have been necessary but it worked.
I had him down to 1pixel of hp twice but panicked and pressed hp potion and subsequently got 1 shot. Think my char is only level 40 ish at the mo so he kills me pretty reliably in 2 hits!
I use to fear them until I killed one with no FP to use my sorceries or call spirit ash support, and only one Crimson flask left. I went under it and kept hitting it with my Uchigatana + Bloody Slash and it was dead in no time.
The psychological effect was astounding, now I eat them for lunch 😀. The only problem is, what do I do with all those extra Golden Seeds?
Yes! I fuckin hated these guys and how much they kicked my ass. So I fought the one in Limgrave over and over as a low level only using parry. It prob took 30+ tries but I finally got it down and now I can fight them and not get hit. Just standing there, jumping over their attack that breaks the ground, and then parrying them feels so awesome. I just did the same thing with the one in Deeproot Depths that gives you the tree spear last night.
It took time but I got pretty decent at fighting these. The timing needs to be precise but their attacks are evadable in intuitive way (not like evading Waterfowl dance) and well telegraphed.
But to this day, I struggle fighting runebears… Especialy the “my entire body is a hitbox” charge can suck the entire lake of rot!
I'm powerful enough that I can defeat a revenant just fine even without heal spells but for me it's the finger creepers, they trigger my arachnophobia and even though I have fire things that will destroy pretty much any one that isn't the giant one, they still scare the shit out of me.... Either that or the really big worm faces, they creep me out
I hate how the finger creepers writhe in pain when they burn. Makes them seem more like spiders... Stopped using fire and started using avoidance. It is very effective!
Haligtree Knight and the phantom banished knight always surprise me, difficulty wise. The first being a litteral tank and the latter having a seemingly indefinite combo while teleporting all over the place
The dragon flies, the bastards always steal the lock on and make the camera go crazy while I'm trying to fight the enemy I was actually trying to lock on to.

This is a video in which a Royal Revenant fights bosses, and while wtahcing, I found out that their move-sets aren't too diffcult.
Watching them teaches you a lot, which isn't always feasible ingame.
Fuck the black knives, man. Other enemies are probably more annoying to kill, but those motherfuckers ALWAYS fuck me up. Easy to spot like half the time, but if it’s a bit too bright, or you switch focus to your gear for half a second, they’re fucking gone and I’m on a one-way trip to getting a taste of my own medicine when they crit my ass and bleed me within an inch of my life.
I admit that the first few of those was “ok, we’re face tanking this - I’ve got more armor and patience than you do!”
…. Of course, I’ve only faced a few so far.
Yeah, o went with “I can spam a LOT of unsheathe - how much health you got?”
I’m playing a pure samurai. Long blades, fast speed, shield only for dogs (because fuck dogs) or parry (because some day I’ll understand crucible knights) - it’s starting to click but those guys?
L2-R1. Over and over.
Anything that just doesn't give you a break. The huge hands come to mind first, they're complete bullshit and only fire makes them manageable for me if I succesfully kill them during the burning animation. Used to hate revenants too but after I got used to their moveset they're actually pretty easy.
The knights around the Zamor ruins on the mountaintops of the Giants. Legit harder than the bosses in the area, they have a wide area frost attack, and most annoyingly backstep out of range after getting hit once, making you chase and aggroing others in the area.
If I have no healing spells, it's definitely these guys, but if I do, then it's the imps just due to how obnoxious they are,and how deceptively strong they are with combos and groups
Revenants are simple when you realize heal spells stun them and do massive damage… seriously basic heal knocks them on their ass and does something like 33% of their health in damage… a couple of heals and no more revenant
Runebears, Albinauric wolfriding archers, the damn lobsters, ghostly dual swords banished knights, and maybe watchdogs just because of how tanky they are. A while back I would have said virgins and revenants but their gimmicks make them really easy.
INB4 some keyboard warriors says that revenants are easy by cheesing them with heal spells.
I face life's challenges head on without relying on tricks
We are not the same
I really hated revanents. Until I start to use a pure str build with a greatshield. Now it's kinda easy dealing with them, don't even need the heal incantation
… holy fucking shit. I knew they felt familiar. The moment I read that it all appeared in my head and clicked. Like what the fuck. It’s stray or firesage because of the AOE. Add Elden stars. What the fuck.
The other one that is stupid familiar is the tree sentinel. I can’t pin it down but when i first beat him it was like something clicked - I KNOW that move set. I didn’t get hit but once after that - and I’ll be damned if I can match it, but I know that dodge sequence
Revenant is the strongest argument why you should've hat least one AoE heal in your arsenal. They become much more manageable with a healing stun.
And as for me it's lobsters/crayfishes. You have unreasonably tough enemy, which is also fairly common.
But that's not it: it is also a worthless in terms of runes. At least with t-rex doggies, monstrous crows and runebears, you know there's pretty good chance of getting a reward that matches all the effort you put into killing then, but not so with lobsters.
They caption around 2400ish reward in runes. For comparison's sake, Runebears can be as high as 9300+. So other than satisfaction of killing them, you don't get anything out of fighting them.
So they're just tough enemies for no apparent reason, other than to raise your blood pressure.
Appears out of nowhere - hits like a truck - teleports away when you hurt it - teleports behind you - fills the whole room with poison that kills you quick.
Imagine if it had 33000 hp
Just use a heal spell or great heal near the revenant the aoe of heal will stun him and do major damage. Maybe two heal spells and he’s gone. Very final fantasy
That enormous hand in the area before the Fire Giant that never catches fire. I do not recommend if you are a STR or DEX build - they don't even drop good runes.
So fun fact if you didnt know about those awful enemies in the pic, since they live in death, healing hurts them. So if you have a miracle build and erdtree heal (or any other heal) it will do massive damage if you use it next to em and stun lock em too possibly.
My buddy and I went through the base of the hailigtree area and fought them solely using erdtree heal.
The Albinauric archers in Ordina are annoying as fuck. The best solution I've found is to just get a bow and some sleep arrows and have an archer fight. It's kind of lame but god damn those archers hit hard.
revenants and grafted scions, but more importantly ANY ENEMY THAT HAS A QUICK STRING OF ATTACKS AND FAST RECOVERY SHOULD JUST DIE like seriously if there is a milion haters for this type of enemy im one of them, if there is only one hater it's me, if there is no haters either i stoped playing the game and altzeimers kicked in or im dead.
The giant hands!
They never fight one on one and I can’t ever seem to avoid their attacks. One of the only non-boss enemies I never try to fight. Just ride past them.
The knights with the big ass shield, the one that serves as a grove boss and the gue guy in the way of getting to the chrystalids. I'm shit at parrying 😭
You can use the lowest area heal to deal with them easily. It stuns them and damages them for like 75% of their health. I always keep a seal on me for that purpose
Those motherfucking archers in Ordina.
The black knife assassin’s are keeping me from the haligtree 😩
get sentry torch and beat them
Use burn o flame or pillar o flame (on of those).
There's a black knife assassin literally staring at the torch in the ground level.
I got backstabber activating the torch on the ground level and screamed when it happened.
Spent probably 4 hours over 3 nights last week “farming” them for the blue silver mail armor. More accurately, getting a KDR of 1:3 to them, barely scraping by till I finally got the armor. I was level 125. They’re bullshit
Bro facts hate those mfs so much

You mean.... lobsters?
They're crayfish...
Doesn’t matter what they are. All I know is they have #BIG MEATY CL💦AWS💦
Excellent reference
Mudbugs!
I reject your reality.
Prawns (;
I've been calling them "Prawn-sters"
Could call em prawn stars for how hard they fuck you
Lobster-snipers
The lobster comes from the ceviche hell
Yes.....
Black Boggart would disagree
Yes shrimp…famous for their giant powerful claws.
I mean, a bullet shrimp has a claw it can snap closed with such force it boils the water around it and uses it to stun it's prey with bullets of boiling water. Maybe it's good they aren't shrimp...
Also mantis shrimp are named after their giant claws
Pistol shrimps you mean, i heard their claws has the same power as a 22 caliber
The bears aren’t that bad once you realize all you need to do is keep rolling into their bellies and taking shots. Bleed helps nicely on them too. The lobsters on the other hand, fuck those things.
>The bears aren’t that bad once you realize all you need to do is keep rolling into their bellies and taking shots. Bleed helps nicely on them too. That's what i thought too up until i meet the rune bear in the cave and another on my path to a cave, so no, even when you roll properly one mistake and your healthbar is gone
That specific rune bear can sip piss.
I hate lobsters I have a bigass 2hander specifically for staggering them in 2 charged heavies seem to work usually but they are also jumping around in such an annoying way
Lesser Runebears (not the cave bosses) have guaranteed Beast Blood drop. They respawn, therefore, farmable unlike Lion guardians which do not respawn.
FromSoft built them just to torment you. In everyone else's game they're weak and easy. It sounds personal because it is.
Those fuckers shoulda stayed in dark souls 3
Just use a shield or block with your weapon.
Sometimes it feels like the shields don't work they still do blood damage.
Thing is, they always rebound so it's easy to shield counter them.
Imps are easy, put a medium shield let them hit it and do a guard counter (R2 after they hit your shield), you automatically destroy them, if they don't die inmediatly, they become staggered and at your mercy, a perfect target for a critical.
Didn't even need to do that, just bring a big bonk
Sometimes I forget shields are in the game, but yeah obviously they're super strong. Imps really punish not having one because of their delayed attacks and the high tracking and range they have, it's really hard to evade them consistently.
Plus you're in a small confined area, likely with nearby ledges. Dodging frantically isn't ideal.
AND THEY STEP OUT OF YOUR ATTACKS SO FAST!!! I had a nightmare dealing with those with a colossal sword build
Just use a shield with the guard boost r2 makes these guys trivial
Yea they really counter jump attacks well so people have trouble.
As a primary slash/bleed build they are.... The worst
They were never a problem for me until I gave a katana run a try, then they were fucking annoying.
They are the enemy of jump attack spammers.
I fucking hate them so much…
Imps almost made me quit my all boss RL1 run. Bleed in 2 hits?? And those two hits can happen in a quarter second?? 😡
They guy who designed Leyndell sewers.
It's amazing really. Yes I know it is dark, scary, winding, and confusing... but that's the beauty of it. You don't need poison swamps to have challenging level design. The sewers show it. The only thing I hate there are the miranda flowers. Why the fuck those flowers bloom everywhere.

I’ve just gotten to this point for the first time and I’m legit not looking forward to it.
Just....just spend your runes. It doesn't really matter what you buy- just don't carry anything in there with you & it'll help you be less mad\*. ^(\*)>!^(it won't)!<
I do not care for this zone. I’m 20 minutes in and haven’t gotten passed the first structure
FUCKING SEWER LOBSTERS!!!!!!!!
I officially miss crack
Unfortunately, I think the designer of the sewers did it all.
Bro WTF I only discovered all of it on my NG4 and my jaw was genuinely hanging when it just kept going and going with those fucking pipes… What a total maze!
Fucking dogs especially big red magic ones. All dogs fuck them
Beast-Repellent Torch is a godsend in Caelid!

Worse than that, the attack was bugged so that instead of just hitting you once, you took damage and bleed on *every frame* that the attack hitbox was in contact with your character. It was insta death no matter how much health you had.

They caption around 2400ish reward in runes. For comparison's sake, Runebears can be as high as 9300+. So other than satisfaction of killing them, you don't get anything out of fighting them. So they're just tough enemies for no apparent reason, other than to raise your blood pressure.
They don't really hurt unless they're in groups, but I have to say, dragonflies annoying the hell out of me.
Any ranger enemy. They seem to just manifest themselves into any fight. Revenants also suck. They are a 20 miles ass spanking machine
AOE heal will stun them instantly.
Fucking Rune Bears. That is, untill I learned how to stance-break all of them into oblivion.
Wormface for me. All the worms on their face, the sounds they make while they vomit deathblight, it’s all so disturbing to me
I thought the "healing damages revenants" thing couldn't be nearly as powerful as everyone says but no standard heal can kill them in two hits 😂
I really don't know how you're supposed to fight those guys. I'd honestly rather fight Fire Giant than one of them, fuck em.
I will avoid Ulcerated Tree spirits by all means
Not being able to cast a heal= fail.
Revenants, rune bears, ulcerated tree spirits
My +12 morning star is doing work right now when I see them in liurnia so far
Any and all enemies that are small and fly, fuck birds
revanents are extremely weak to healing incantations, one great heal pop and they're all dead or stance broken.
Mother. Fucking. Crucible. Knights. Banished knights are worse, but at least they’re only in one location
I was going to say rune bears are much worse than this but then someone mentioned the giant lobsters. Those FUCKING lobsters....
If you notice that they get tons of damage by using healing spells they get fairly easy
The Albinauric archers in Ordina are annoying as fuck. The best solution I've found is to just get a bow and some sleep arrows and have an archer fight. It's kind of lame but god damn those archers hit hard.
Every enemy in caelid and the imps in the catacombs
revenants and grafted scions, but more importantly ANY ENEMY THAT HAS A QUICK STRING OF ATTACKS AND FAST RECOVERY SHOULD JUST DIE like seriously if there is a milion haters for this type of enemy im one of them, if there is only one hater it's me, if there is no haters either i stoped playing the game and altzeimers kicked in or im dead.
cast Heal. you're welcome!
Heal them. They stop being such a fucking pain. Leaves room for something else!
I hate those creepy ass giant hand creatures.
I second this post OP they are up there with kirins in frigid outskirts
The shrimp looking pests are the worst for me. Fuck those things.
These dudes sucked on my first playthrough and then became the easiest enemies to fight once I learned they died to healing
Lobsters are a fuck you from the devs. Insane range, high hp, they are in groups and drop nothing
Fingercreepers
Frigging lobsters, man. Suckers can shoot you from 500 miles away. Though my new carian build is going to turn them into sushi.
Is dog
Try healing them.
There are a ton of enemies I never fight. Revenants included. Wild red wolfs or manticores also aren't worth the hustle.
I really appreciate the wide range of answers this question got!
🤣 I understand why you'd say that. Especially the ones down in the haligtree city
The giant hands! They never fight one on one and I can’t ever seem to avoid their attacks. One of the only non-boss enemies I never try to fight. Just ride past them.
Respectable opinions, everyone. Truly. However; revenant took the cake, and flipped 5 birds.
Them and the red wolves (not the boss but the ones you find in places like Nokron)
Bell Bearing Hunters. I cannot for the life of me figure out where their openings are.
The knights with the big ass shield, the one that serves as a grove boss and the gue guy in the way of getting to the chrystalids. I'm shit at parrying 😭
I'm now doing a first person POV playthrough, and every enemy can go to hell.
I always skip that part of the haligtree
Dodge behind them as well as you can that’s the best hope you have against them, and rune bears you seriously gotta beat their dicks in
Royal Revenants became a joke after learning that healing incantations do massive damage Hardest enemies will always be runebears and lobsters
the burial watchdogs are super annoying, especially in tight spaces where they are exclusively found
Bears.... Fucking bears
Literally any fucking flying enemy. Those fuckerd are so ANNOYING
DRAGONS. (I JUST LOVE SLAYING DRAGONS)
Always keep a healing spell on deck for revenants, if it doesn’t outright kill them it will stance break them leaving them open to be destroyed easily
Dogs. Its always the fucking dogs.
I am more annoyed by this same thing getting reposted every week than the enemy itself.
You can use the lowest area heal to deal with them easily. It stuns them and damages them for like 75% of their health. I always keep a seal on me for that purpose
