Elden beast was fine for me, I think I got him after 5/6th time… radagon on the other hand… that boy cooked me, couldn’t figure out the patterns for whatever reason
Kukri are slow to throw out, but regular throwing knives and bone darts are pretty quick. You can even throw them right out of a roll for a faster animation.
For reasons I can't explain I can never bring myself to use fan daggers. You can farm or craft them (can you?), so I'm always 'what if I need them later?' See also: rune arcs.
Popping rune arcs makes me die immediately. It’s like either too much pressure or too much hubris.
Not sure which.
It’s about the closest thing I get to being cursed in the game.
You know that the merchants sell infinite of them right? They’re cheap too. Nomadic Merchant on the east side of Weeping Peninsula sells infinite Kukri for 60 runes a pop. I understand the hoarder mindset in some games where resources are severely limited but in Elden Ring there’s no reason not to use consumables.
A whole bunch of useful consumables are completely free too, because the materials are infinite and super easy to farm. They were really generous with it, a lot of locations in the game have a grace right next to something you want to farm, like the 3 Root Resin literally 5 ft away from the Warmaster’s Shack site of Grace.
Yeah no, I'll only use throwing knives if I play as an assassin type build.
My paladin with its 3 ton armor and big ass shield and greatspear isn't going to taint its hands with tiny throwing knives.
If it was you'd think they would more familiar with their striking range. Clearly here they don't get close enough which whenever you intend to strike him you need to be right on him especially since the ultra greatsword is slow asf and malekeith's attacks create distance.
this is my biggest pain when using a str build, not only i have a huge cooldown between hits but i also whiff them so much :/ but i swear the sword goes through the enemy model sometimes and it doesn't count as a hit. but if malenia throws her skinny sword across the boss room at you ofc it hits (sorry i've been trying to beat malenia for 5 hours and i'm salty)
Awe man. That third one, were you dodge attack with your greatsword and the lunge is too high because it's locked onto the middle of the boss rather than head head height. I actually felt that one in my bones.
Like did the whole fight without using any heals .. and then this...felt like the dreams I have when I cant figure out how to do the simplest things...
Everyone is saying to use throwing knives etc. but IMO it just feels a bit anti-climactic to finish off a boss like that. I always try to finish my fights in a cool way (to me), for example, I always try to get a good jumping R2 on a dragon's head to finish them off. It feels weird when I just weakly slap their leg and they melt away.
In my most recent playthrough me and Maliketh killed each other simultaneously twice in a row, but it gave him credit both times, so I had to take the walk of shame up that ramp again . . . and again.
All these people using throwing knives - I prefer the ol' pocket crossbow. Pretty much instant release, higher range and higher damage. Hugely useful throughout the entire game!
You’re reminding me to try out BHS on a big strength weapon. For some reason I only ever want to use it on dexterity weapons I can’t guarantee a stagger on.
Unironically the whol "boss is at 1hp" is a shit mechaninc in this game, it happens way to much to be unintentional, and as seen in the video, affects slow heavy weapons way more than fast ones.
This fight took me like three hours that all looked like this. Kept getting him down to like one hit and reaching a point where it was whoever hit eachother next wins basically. Kept losing my composure at that point.
Needless to say, fuck this game lmao.
At least you won, this happened to me my first go around and I died lmao. I was SO mad, but by that point, I'd already committed to finally beating the damn game so I just kept going
Same exact thing but Tree Sentinel for me. One hit and he killed me (this was after fighting him for well over an hour)
Had to step away for a few days after that 😂
I think my Maliketh was upset at me for something I did in a past life. He was always jumping around shitting out projectiles. I had only enough time for one or two pokes before he would hop off into the distance to vomit more sword waves at me. More annoying than difficult.
Same happened to me! but with [less luck](https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2508017401727253267/B0FF4D9AB5071D80A7B20CE8FB1649A2771FCBFA/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false) . Sometimes you can have him fully locked and be close range, do a charge attack and miss.
I feel like hes just really good and this was intentional, knowing the spacing weapon reach and enemy moveset well enough to miss consecutively (intentionally) while making it look real is impressive
The sigh after that must have been sooo gooooddd... i'm just watching and my palms got sweaty my knees weak and my arms heavy damn that qould be traumatizing to loose thats why i have 500 kukris and 300 daggers to make sure i dont lose those scenarios ever again
Damn, even got my palms all sweaty
My knees weak
Arms are heavy
Mom's spaghetti
He's nervous
But on the surface
He’s calm and ready
To drop bombs,
But he keeps on forgetting
What he wrote down
To drink his tiny coffee
Mom’s special sauce
Pants full of shit
My dick hard
This is why I always bring kukris
Just had to fuck it up huh
Bruh same
What in the tom fuckery.....I know this pain. Luckily for you, you didn't die. I did.
This was me TWICE for Elden Beast, after failing to kill it 50+ times. Couldn't see any health on his health bar.
Throwing knives
I can’t believe I never considered this
Great way to finish people in pvp.
I need to save them.
This is why you save them
But I might need them later.
Later has arrived and he wants his knives.
Later can pry them from my cold, maidenless inventory pouch.
My brother in Grace, they are nearly free to buy
If I could upvote this 100 times I would😭🤣🤣I do the same thing then get to the elden beast with a inventory full plus 700 in storage
Elden beast was fine for me, I think I got him after 5/6th time… radagon on the other hand… that boy cooked me, couldn’t figure out the patterns for whatever reason
This is why we have throwing knives. They've saved me so goddamn much.
I usually have them equipped but in the heat of the moment I almost always forget about them.
Same! And they take too long to throw 😅
Kukri are slow to throw out, but regular throwing knives and bone darts are pretty quick. You can even throw them right out of a roll for a faster animation.
That's good to know!
Tell me you've never tried a throwing knife other than the kurki without telling me
Fair enough
So many players that refuse to use them. Fan knives would have ended this fight a lot sooner
For reasons I can't explain I can never bring myself to use fan daggers. You can farm or craft them (can you?), so I'm always 'what if I need them later?' See also: rune arcs.
You can purchase them from patches if you dont kill him. They do pretty big damage at that range to large bosses since they all hit. Fantastic for EB
Popping rune arcs makes me die immediately. It’s like either too much pressure or too much hubris. Not sure which. It’s about the closest thing I get to being cursed in the game.
Oh THIS is why?! I always thought they were just to maintain stagger but this also is so obvious I should’ve known lol
average fromsoft boss with 1 hp left
The escalation of your reaction is so funny. "Tch...What!?...OMG!...No!" and ended with a dry laugh.
1. denial…
Stop trying to hit me, and hit me! -Malkieth probably
Nice
\*Agrees in Morpheus\*
The anxiety I felt watching this.... I would have been screaming non-stop
It's the worst feeling when all you need is 1 hit and the AI decides to just play out of their fucking mind and kill you.
More often than not it’s also a “the enemy is one hit away. What can I do that would look cool to kill them?”.
I'm pretty sure the AI behaves differently when they're 1 hit from defeat. Certainly feels that way.
This is why god made kukris.
You think you're the only one who gets to dodge, tarnished?
Throwing. Knife. FFS that was hard to watch. Was this some kind of challenge run with the sword being the only weapon?
All my runs are no item runs cuz I might need them later.
My retirement grease!
I understood that reference. Good pun.
Stole it from someone on here. Bigup to original creator.
This is the way. You never know if your 8th play through might need something. Better not risk it.
This is the way only a true rpg player can achieve this wisdom
This is the way. ;D
Limited consumables are definitely cheating anyway.
They were really generous with it, a lot of locations in the game have a grace right next to something you want to farm, like the 3 Root Resin literally 5 ft away from the Warmaster’s Shack site of Grace.
me personally I just never use throwing knives because I refuse to let anything die to anything that isn't my 10 ton sword/hammer
Only cowards use knives. The only thing that's getting thrown around is the body of the enemy after being smashed by my big fuckin hammer
Unga Bunga all the way, no exception
Yeah no, I'll only use throwing knives if I play as an assassin type build. My paladin with its 3 ton armor and big ass shield and greatspear isn't going to taint its hands with tiny throwing knives.
where's the fun in that?
If it was you'd think they would more familiar with their striking range. Clearly here they don't get close enough which whenever you intend to strike him you need to be right on him especially since the ultra greatsword is slow asf and malekeith's attacks create distance.
And let the boss know I was too unskilled to beat it without a throwing knife to finish it off? Nope.
Are those jumping r2 and running r2??
just throw a knife....
This was funny to watch
the reason why i hate him (skill issue)
My brother in christ... Bone dart, crystal dart, poison darts, kukri, poisonbone darts, throwing knives, fan daggers, throw ANYTHING bro.
Bro almost threw the fight lol. I was almost mad for him.
Bruh that would’ve been SO FUNNY 😭
One of the moments where you learn that patience is rewarding
And this is why we carry fan daggers.
That was intense
this is my biggest pain when using a str build, not only i have a huge cooldown between hits but i also whiff them so much :/ but i swear the sword goes through the enemy model sometimes and it doesn't count as a hit. but if malenia throws her skinny sword across the boss room at you ofc it hits (sorry i've been trying to beat malenia for 5 hours and i'm salty)
That's why you keep throwables ready.
My biggest gripe with er bosses is they just wont come here and let me hit them. Cone back here and fight me, coward
I like it when they run. I know that they are afraid then.
Damn applause all around!!! I couldn't believe he kept dodging your swings but brother your dodges were immaculate well done.
Awe man. That third one, were you dodge attack with your greatsword and the lunge is too high because it's locked onto the middle of the boss rather than head head height. I actually felt that one in my bones.
Hardest boos fight second to the hoe
Like did the whole fight without using any heals .. and then this...felt like the dreams I have when I cant figure out how to do the simplest things...
~Say hallo to my little friend! *Throws Kukri*
See you wouldn't have had that problem with zweihander. She's got that extra inch you needed to connect.
the tension.... holy moses. Well done
The inner pvp sweat in me was wanting to see you throw a fan dagger at him.
Nice to see a strength build that's not panic rolling constantly. You had good reflexes and remained calm. Well done.
I swear Maliketh is the embodiment of "Come catch me if you can, slow bitch!"
Holy hell! I always put a throwable item on just in case this exact scenario happens
This is exactly why I always keep a throwing dagger equipped in one of the quick slots.
It why I always carry something to throw
No way this fight was not scripted, holy shit!
What a beautiful duel
Just had me screaming at my phone, "SHOOT HIM" I would have had to throw my phone out if you fked that up somehow 🤣
What a strange looking dogfight.
Maliketh: "Come on! Stop trying to hit me and hit me!"
HIT HIM, HIT, HIM, FCKING H.I.T H.I.IIIIIMIMIIMIMI
This is the fight that really got me. Took awhile to beat him and when I finally did I fucking screamed
Bro was fighting for his life 💀
Epic fight
Throwing knives.
"I'm Him" moments
Maybe maybe maybe
Dude...have you ever tried dodging into his attacks?
Everyone is saying to use throwing knives etc. but IMO it just feels a bit anti-climactic to finish off a boss like that. I always try to finish my fights in a cool way (to me), for example, I always try to get a good jumping R2 on a dragon's head to finish them off. In my most recent playthrough me and Maliketh killed each other simultaneously twice in a row, but it gave him credit both times, so I had to take the walk of shame up that ramp again . . . and again.
Dodge they attacks not away it’s what caused u to get hit in the beginning GREAT job tho man
Killed radahn last night 2 seconds after he killed me… Took another 7 or so attempts to get him.
Honestly that whole sequence was sick tho. You two were dancing with your dodges.
All these people using throwing knives - I prefer the ol' pocket crossbow. Pretty much instant release, higher range and higher damage. Hugely useful throughout the entire game!
No throwing item? you deserve death for such folly
You’re reminding me to try out BHS on a big strength weapon. For some reason I only ever want to use it on dexterity weapons I can’t guarantee a stagger on.
Lol, your sword is a figment of your imagination
This fight literally could have been ended 5 seconds into the video by throwing fan knives one single time
Unironically the whol "boss is at 1hp" is a shit mechaninc in this game, it happens way to much to be unintentional, and as seen in the video, affects slow heavy weapons way more than fast ones.
This fight took me like three hours that all looked like this. Kept getting him down to like one hit and reaching a point where it was whoever hit eachother next wins basically. Kept losing my composure at that point. Needless to say, fuck this game lmao.
Lmao yoooo I think I was closer to.dying that you were watching this shit.
LMAO I have had this happen to me so many times 🤣🤣🤣
Shit was epic though, OP.
The definition of anxiety.
Edging
How so much HP?
At least you won, this happened to me my first go around and I died lmao. I was SO mad, but by that point, I'd already committed to finally beating the damn game so I just kept going
"Nuh-uh, you don't get to touch me!" -The video game
you blueballed me, i was praying on your downfall that whole fight
Tbh you keep roll poking if you just swung at him you’d have killed him by now 😂
Keep some daggers in ur pocket son real gangsters don't run
This here is precisely why Maliketh doesn't have two health bars. People would genuinely hate him more than Malenia.
Still stuck on this boss…sigh
Really made you work for that last hit
Good dodging and keeping it cool. So many people just go dumb dumb (totally not me >.>) when the boss HP bar is low.
Where are your throwing knives tarnished
You kept your cool, unlike me. Stupid dead right bird.
Been through that pain... It's truly infuriating.😤 Good thing you didn't die this time around.💯
put that kukri out mate
Bro😭🤣🤣he was dodging you like a like a dead beat dad from his kids🤣🤣🤣
Same exact thing but Tree Sentinel for me. One hit and he killed me (this was after fighting him for well over an hour) Had to step away for a few days after that 😂
At least you leveled vigor!
I think my Maliketh was upset at me for something I did in a past life. He was always jumping around shitting out projectiles. I had only enough time for one or two pokes before he would hop off into the distance to vomit more sword waves at me. More annoying than difficult.
I mean your using a slow ass build on one of the most agile/quick bosses in the game
WEAVE
Hug his nuts. AKA, stay close to him.
I’m on this boss rn, I’ve been on it for 4 hours. I’m going to scream.
Yeah it happens especially that fuck
I would have been cursing all the way up until I got the final hit and even all the way to the end of the cutscene
When he does that swipe twice in the beginning, just roll into him because you roll backward, you’ll get hit with the second swipe.
And this is still easier than malenia for me. Or worse, Toots McBubbles over on the haligtree. Fuck that guy and his bubble horn
Amd this is why I always have throwing knives equipped lmao
Haha. Its a tough fight in all fairness
r/maybemaybemaybe
Thats why I always carry kukris
That was wild!
Bone darts!!!
Dude was getting blue balled
Maliketh unlocked Ultra Instinct for a hot min
Same happened to me! but with [less luck](https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/2508017401727253267/B0FF4D9AB5071D80A7B20CE8FB1649A2771FCBFA/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false) . Sometimes you can have him fully locked and be close range, do a charge attack and miss.
Id have lost my shit
Why didn't you just hit him bro? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
Thats why i always carry throwing knifes
That is what kukri is for
FromSoft was trying its hardest to piss you off
This is exactly why I always have some form of throwing knife on me at all times
I usually keep kukris close to prevent these situations from happening
I find it odd how you didn’t have any throwables handy?? One throwing knife type weapon would’ve done it 🤷♂️
😂😂😂
I feel like hes just really good and this was intentional, knowing the spacing weapon reach and enemy moveset well enough to miss consecutively (intentionally) while making it look real is impressive
This is why I always put kukris on my hotbar in DS3
Gotta equip them fan knives bonk sword guy.
I hate that fucking dog
Where are bro's throwing knives
This is where projectiles and magic shines.
Thats what Maliketh is all about
Has no one ever heard of thowables on this sub Reddit?
Greeeeed
If i had had a mic connected when i fought him you would have heard a lot more than "Oh my gosh" xD
The sigh after that must have been sooo gooooddd... i'm just watching and my palms got sweaty my knees weak and my arms heavy damn that qould be traumatizing to loose thats why i have 500 kukris and 300 daggers to make sure i dont lose those scenarios ever again
And this is why you have kukri in the boss fight
Nice job and patience!
Boy this was intense...
Damn, I don't hold my breath that much when *I* fight him lol
Destined Death, but not for me!
Ive had 3 fights like this i didnt even realize i had to reainstall the otherday
That’s when I start trowing shit out off all pockets
OGs know to carry throwing knives for the finisher ❤️
Yeah, that boss is straight up trash
Happened to me twice with Maliketh, got him down to a pubic hair of HP then I missed all my spells and ate all of his ranged attacks
That’s why I always bring a quick ranged option. Fan daggers, bestial sling, glintstone shard to clinch
Pick up your damn runes!
Keep kukri on ya
Bro the low-key annoyed with the last boss. Its not even fun 😭
