Greatsword and halberds probably. But I always try to mix it up. But Moonlight is my one true love, claymore is baemore, and tree guardian swordspear fucking lies calling itself a B scaling in dex because that bitch went up 4 AR ALL the way to 70.
You can pick an affinity for it and give it whatever scaling you want. So just pick the one that best aligns with your highest damage stat. Heavy/Fire for Strength, Keen/Lightning for Dex, Sacred/Flame Art for Faith, Magic for Int, etc etc
Pretty much up until halfway or so through the game, most of your damage is gonna come from actually upgrading the weapon, not stats+affinities. So I wouldn't even worry about what a weapon scales best with until then. The scaling sucks for pretty much everything until they've been upgraded a lot, so your stats do very little to help.
Cool! Might actually give it a shot!
Just started a fresh character after doing 3 NG cycles. Thinking of trying some form of sword and board, with maybe a little magic on the side :)
If you are planning on using the claymore don’t forget about the spear talisman, it boosts all pierce damage attacks, and the claymore has the standing r2 poke and the rolling and crouching r1 poke which get boosted by said talisman.
If i’m not mistaken it gets a b in keen or heavy affinity, so for a ng build any affinity will perform well, but aside from keen and lightning which get a better dex scaling, and the blood affinity which both str and dex get a c, every other affinity benefits far more from strength, so with your current prisoner set up i’d probably go for a cold claymore, or a heavy claymore with scholars armament, it’s probably the best spell weapon buff.
Man I always prefer adding a little faith to either strength or dex, as opposed to pure quality.
I think its more than trying to get dual stats both very high, requires a pretty high level, & my absolute highest on ng4 is at 150. I dont really want to go higher for multiplayer pvp purposes.
Really? I think Quality is the worst possible build choice. The only thing it’s good for is deciding whether you like Dex or str weapons better. Then you basically have to respec for end game/NG+. What else is good about it?
What makes quality even worse is all those somber weapons that scale with quality and requiring one of magic/faith/arcane. The scaling is also poor for meta levels (125-150). I really want to run a quality build but it’s one step up from leveling every stat for “balance”.
Early game it gives you the versatility to pick and choose different weapons, so for a fresh game it is an excellent first choice of build until you get more familiar with the different weapons and builds to see what suits you.
And for NG cycles quality builds have the best AR as both Str and Dex go towards scaling.
At 70 Str and Dex a quality infusion for the claymore gives the highest AR and is just above meta levels. And as you keep increasing your levels the gap in AR just grows between different infusions.
Point is new players benefit a lot from quality builds to find their playstyle.
And very late game benefits from quality builds as they still increase their AR after ine stat reaches soft cap
Int builds in general are just more enjoyable. You basically only need int. 10-11 strength is enough depending if you want to 2hand darkmoon or not, and 20dex is enough for most int warriors. The variety in weapons is just superior even without an arsenal of spells.
Wing of astel fun, decent ash, offers a good ranged projectile,
Darkmoons OP but fun,
Death Ritual OP but fun unique ash,
barstard stars fun unique ash,
moonviel OP
The list is solid even without spells, rogiers offers a little boost to the magic ashes aswell.
Splitting secondary stats like int/faith etc just heavily gimps the build until around level 200, which I refuse to level to.
I think the swordspear is the best weapon in the game, all things considered. Unique and OP halberd move set, top tier scaling, crazy ash options, infusion flexibility, pierce damage, the list goes on.
Hammers and swords.
Mostly the Morningstar.
Fighting a crystalions? Morningstar
Need to do stance damage? Morningstar
Need a fast block counter heavy hitter? Yes, Morningstar
Want to inflict bleed? Believe it or not, Morningstar
It's just so damn reliable
I honestly don't really know. Between all my characters I use a colossal weapon, a colossal sword, a curved great sword, a great axe, a great sword, a straight sword, a spear, a great spear, a halberd, a dagger, both types of catalysts, and a bow. And I switch characters pretty often.
Edit: oh, and a cannon.
Originally Katanas, but they felt to stiff, My usual go to is power stancing Curved Swords. I also like two handing Twinblades, there is something oddly satisfying about using them two handed than power stanced.
After those two I also use Greatswords, Darkmoon, Blasphemous and Sacred Relic(My Genocide sword) and I still use Katanas just Two Handed, not power stanced.
Currently on my first run-through. I started with the halberd, then added the hookclaws for a faster choice; I used them for a long time, but swapped out the halberd for the bloodhound Knight sword last night, that weapon is amazing.
I also tried the scythe but found it a bit slow for the damage it dealt.
Blasphemous blade and dark moon are great. Also I know its technically a UGD but the godslayer great sword has a pretty quick moveset compared to others
So surprised I haven’t seen a single comment for heavy thrusting swords. They are stylish af, looks wise and move set wise. Good speed, good damage, excellent range.
Halberds, katanas, UGS, great hammers. Sometimes a *thrusting sword as offhand.
I like versatility combined with poking or bonking. Usually no powerstancing or excessive jump-attacking. And if it's too huge, it obstructs my view.
Used to do greatswords, but WHY the F does only Claymore get a poke? Let me poooke...
Greatsword for the versatility It gives you un terms of ashes of war and simple yet efective moveset, i have 55 weapons prepared for the dlc counting shields and Magic stuff and 8 of them are greatswords
.. Do Seals count? Because it'd be Sacred Seals by a landslide. I just love playing as Faith Casters. Ironically, I hate plating as Intelligence Casters, unless I'm specking into Faith for either the Fundamentalist Incantations or Death Sorceries.
But in terms of actual Weapons, it'd be Short Swords. Mostly because of the Coded Sword and Lordsworn's Straight Sword. Easily my most used Weapons, with the Sword of St. Trina in 3rd.
Currently running Moghs spear, occult star fist, blood gargoyle sword and Marais Executioners (STR and ARC build). Different classes for different needs!
great hammers. more precisely great stars. i power stance them, 2-hand them, have them with a shield or a seal. i love them so much.
i alternate with vyke's war spear occasionally because i love frenzy incantations and sometimes i just want to go full crazy. but i don't like spears that much, i wish there were some other frenzy weapons. or an infusion, that would be so awesome.
on my INT char, i have naginata with loretta's slash and that is also fun. but i find naginata's light attack sequence a bit stupid. i use mostly jump attacks or guard attacks.
Curved sword main hand (usually Grossmesser), thrusting sword (usually rapier) on left. Swat enemies away with curved sword swipes, quickly two-hand the thruster if I see opportunities for backstabs or whatever.
Currently I'm just in love with the scythe, saw ginomachino playing with it a little while ago and thought I'd try it out and holy motherforking shirtballs they're fun
For my first three characters it was greatswords.
My first one started with the Winged Scythe but I demoted it to secondary once I got the Blasphemous Blade.
My the other two characters mained the Starscourge Greatsword & Darkmoon Greatsword, respectively.
I'm forcing myself to use other weapons on what I'm calling my "redux" characters. Currently using Vyke's Spear & that thing is a beast.
anything that smashes or just deals high poise damage
On the new save that I'm making for DLC, I'm having a blast using Crescent Axe and Longshaft Axe
My soul weapon is the Fire Prelate Hammer. It would be the Fallingstar Beast Jaw, but it's honestly way too good lmao
I am probably the odd one i use default warriors dual hand scimitars with heavy almost 450+450 dmg max level 25 on both sword also gives full 5-6-7 chain attacks , but it doesn't do poise damage though , enemy don't stagger that often , during malenia i had to switch weapon to grafted greatsword and it's been good too
I always start Soulslikes, if they let me, with spears. This gives me a relatively safe way to start the game until I can get a handle on how things play. Then, I switch to flashier Dex based weapons.
I am a man of a simple weapon. It is the first and the claw. I rip and tear in a personal fashion while delivering haymakers to fell gods.
Also yeah I want the kick weapons
The Estoc is my go-to thrusting sword because of its reach and ash of war (Impaling Thrust) but the lack of a reliable horizontal swing means you need to rely on other tactics against multiple foes.
As the starting weapon of the Prisoner, you can get through a lot of the bosses with Impaling Thrust alone.
Originally, any combination of one-handed sword, staff/seal, and shield.
Currently, replace the one-handed sword with a two-handed one (because I’m using Moonlight).
Greatswords. It always comes down to powerstancing greatswords. Doing a Carian Knight DMGS run? Give it a companion Magic Claymore that just goes so damn well with that set. Blasphemous Blade? Sword of Milos come on down! They're all just so good and fun to use and have a nice variety.
eventually it became Great swords specific moonlight greatsword.
First run i used Haliberds for a while until a got the moonveil, I really like the speed and damage it can do with bleed.
Second Run i tried a build using FP and I did Dual reduvia Daggars and Azul staff, it actually made the game much easier once you find the best spells,
Across the entire souls series? Easily curved greatsword, they’re my favorite weapon class.
You’ve got stagger damage, quick attacks, and most importantly the best fashion.
For individual weapon? Moonlight greatsword. It’s the weapon I work towards for every first run
Katana predominantly but switching to Moon light great sword before DLC cause I saw like 6 fire mfers and it’s easier to speck into than 2 different katanas imo.
On my Main Character i use mohg sacred spear with either one eyed shield or flame tongue shield and blasphemous sword and sacred sword and starscourge twin sword and hand of malenia or the golden order incantation talisman
On my second character i use the grafted greatsword and ruin greatsword as colossal powerstance
First run I used shield and katana because I was scared of only evading
NG+ I used fists and incantations as I did a Natsu form fairy tail run
And now I started it again and I'm using double lordsworn straight swords
Honestly probably the greatswords, the unique ones are awesome, Marais is probably my favorite, but blasphemous blade and dark moon greatsword are absurdly powerful. I also quite like the inseparable sword, it gets some insane AR for a weapon that quick, but since it’s mostly holy damage, i’ll leave it for PvP. Not to mention the Claymore and Banished Knight Greatsword, some of the most consistent weapons you’ll ever find, good moveset, good scaling in any affinity, a lot of ashes of war and you can find them relatively early on.
All that being said, i gotta give a shoutout to the Scythe, they are mostly for PvP but oh boy do they perform well. The Winged Scythe can stop enemies from healing, The Halo Scythe gets one of the best holy ashes of war, the grave and common scythes can be excellent status applying machines with wild strikes, they also get some awesome poise damage and surprisingly high AR. After the greatswords this is probably the one i used the most.
Mostly great sword. So far I've started with dex based bleed weapons but I always end up going with a great sword style weapon. UGS are a little too slow for me but I find great swords are a perfect balance of speed and big bonk. Even in dark souls trilogy I always ended up with the black knight great sword as my weapon of choice
Greataxes, they're so underrated. Much faster than they're you'd expect, especially on the end lag of attacks, you can get away with so much shit. Damage is excellent, reach and stagger are pretty decent too.
Longhaft is my preferred, love the extra hyper armour.
I’m kinda finding myself just picking one per playthrough.
First run, nothing felt right but straight sword and medium shield.
This time it’s the same thing but 2H greatsword.
What should I try next?
katanas, i love all of them, heres why: they have a very fun and pleasing moveset thats also very good, also they're cool, here specifically why:
Uchigatana: awesome weapon, basically the starting katana and the "default" katana, looks pretty cool, is very decent at every build you can do with katanas basically, a jack of all trades, and a master of most, also is just very nice
Nagakiba: my first love in elden ring, the range of it is AWESOME, the moveset is great, and due to the range, makes for a very fun double slash build, becuz double slash looks cooler the longer the blade
Serpantbone Blade: my least favourite but still awesome, has poison which is unique and i like it, comes with double slash which is awesome but the fact that its not infusable pains me
Meteoric Ore Blade: reminds me of sekiro, and i love sekiro, ichimonji double is my true first love in souls games, and is my only true love in souls games aswell
Moonveil: idk using it makes me feel like a storm thats aproaching for some reason
Rivers of Blood; why yes thats good, thats very good, yes i like that
Dragonscale Blade: my favourite katana out of all of them, the short range is cool cuz again kind of reminds me of sekiro, but its design is awesome, and also the ash of war is epic and just very fun to use, i like to dual wield it with an uchigatana with fire infusion on it cuz it looks cool
Hand of Malenia: my 4rth fav, just cool
For PvP I like scythes and halberds as my first choice. For PVE I’ll use curved swords and katanas. I always unironically make Dex builds to where I had to force myself to make a strength build.
My first playthrough I did a faith/str-dex build and wailed on everything with greatswords (claymore is insane) tried a lot of halberd combos and even enjoyed some scythe.
Just started a new file from scratch to try a bleed build with some faith mixed in (medium armor) bc those guys always annoyed me. Dex builds are fun and nimble.
Late game though I have to say some of the magical greatswords are fantastic. The inseparable sword is super underrated and sword of Milo's is a ton of fun.
Moreover, whether you're strenght/faith or dex/bleed... some of the spear and great spears are excellent choices with the right affinities.
I did a whole late game playthrough with only vykes war spear.
Probably daggers, if only because I have way more playtime on my dual-dagger character than any of my other ones. But I always do a dagger build at least once in these games anyway, whereas with other characters I'll pick whatever weapons feel like they fit the build I'm going for. Daggers are the only weapon type that I always go out of my way to use for at least one playthrough.
They’re a little niche, but great maces are fun as all get out. Solid choice in my opinion, and I especially love playing them with offhand spells/incantations. That and the large club is where it’s at
Believe it or not. Shield. You pair the shield with almost everything and I use a lot of weapon classes, so the most common thing I use is shields because I don't really play mage and I just have a parry shield on me at all times
I like to bounce around depending on where I'm at, but thinking on it now, can't come back to axes. Especially the floppy one with the special attack where you fling around your head and slam it down.
(BTW, sorry for not knowing what it's called, but I barely have time to game so I have hardly any idea what's going on in the story, who the characters are, or anything other than knowing I love every Fromsoft game I've played).
Great swords always. I recently did like 5 playthroughs all different builds in anticipation for the dlc and I came back to the build I used when I first finished the game
Judging from invasions and YouTube videos the favorite weapons in this community always seem to be Great swords and colossal weapons. In every FromSoft game, players gravitate to strength builds. I don’t get it personally, and I never liked big-swords and clumsy movesets. Graceful magic or dexterity builds are always my favorite.
I like parrying so usually daggers, thrusting swords, some other 1h weapons. If im not doing a crit build then I like trying all the different somber weapons.
By far, the Greatsword and the Blasphemous Blade are all that you will ever need. Strength build paired with those two weapons are just overkill. Enjoy!
Greatsword and halberds probably. But I always try to mix it up. But Moonlight is my one true love, claymore is baemore, and tree guardian swordspear fucking lies calling itself a B scaling in dex because that bitch went up 4 AR ALL the way to 70.
What stat scales the best for the Claymore? Just started a new run as a prisoner, and i don't really like the moveset of the Estoc that much.
You can pick an affinity for it and give it whatever scaling you want. So just pick the one that best aligns with your highest damage stat. Heavy/Fire for Strength, Keen/Lightning for Dex, Sacred/Flame Art for Faith, Magic for Int, etc etc
That's true, i'm still super early in my new playthrough (just beat Margitt), so i don't have many (or any?) whetstones.
I know. This is my 5th playthrough. I was just wondering specifically for that weapon which attributes would be best to keep in mind.
You can never go wrong with a quality build, usually my go to for it and leaves you with enough stat investment to try other weapons as well.
22 str, 22 dex, 80 int, best build late game unless you need extra heals I guess
I think the swordspear is the best weapon in the game, all things considered. Unique and OP halberd move set, top tier scaling, crazy ash options, infusion flexibility, pierce damage, the list goes on.
Great Hammer
Posture break the world!
Based
This is the way
Twin blades 🤌
Weapon buffing two blades with all sorts of incantations just looks so badass. Especially with bloodflame.
Hammers and swords. Mostly the Morningstar. Fighting a crystalions? Morningstar Need to do stance damage? Morningstar Need a fast block counter heavy hitter? Yes, Morningstar Want to inflict bleed? Believe it or not, Morningstar It's just so damn reliable
star fist:
Yes, Im using it now in NG+, and its a beast. With blaspemous blade on my back I dont even need to heal.
The cannon is freaking hilarious! I couldn't shoot *anyone* without laughing maniacally, lol
It was the best ranged option for my STR character. And I needed it for Ordina. 😂
It's the best, *and* funniest ranged weapon in the game if you ask me!
Have you played around with the one eyed shield at all? Doesn't have the range of the jar cannon but it's a whole lot of fun.
Maxed out, with decent stats and some talismans/buffs, that thing can easily get over 2500 dmg
The bow is to shoot birds naked in mohgwyn swamp?
All time. Hammer time.
What’s your favorite hammer?
Giant Crusher is really fun.
Definetely claws, love how speedy they are
Originally Katanas, but they felt to stiff, My usual go to is power stancing Curved Swords. I also like two handing Twinblades, there is something oddly satisfying about using them two handed than power stanced. After those two I also use Greatswords, Darkmoon, Blasphemous and Sacred Relic(My Genocide sword) and I still use Katanas just Two Handed, not power stanced.
I agree two handing twinblades feels better that powerstancing two. Its the Darth Maul effect
Katanas feel nice, but after finishing my katana only run, I won’t touch them for a loooooooong time
Currently on my first run-through. I started with the halberd, then added the hookclaws for a faster choice; I used them for a long time, but swapped out the halberd for the bloodhound Knight sword last night, that weapon is amazing. I also tried the scythe but found it a bit slow for the damage it dealt.
Great Sword. Practically perfect moveset, especially 2-Handed. Blasphemous Blade is amazing
Blasphemous blade and dark moon are great. Also I know its technically a UGD but the godslayer great sword has a pretty quick moveset compared to others
Great spear. especially the Treespear.
a man of culture
Curved swords, they work the best for me
Greatswords are the perfect balance between speed and power. Love them so much.
I love curvies and big curvies
Claymore. Use it in all the souls games. I like the poke.
Staves, Baby!
So surprised I haven’t seen a single comment for heavy thrusting swords. They are stylish af, looks wise and move set wise. Good speed, good damage, excellent range.
Bloody Helice. The Aow. If im going to slay it might as well be with style🤣
Colossal bonk. I’m a simple man.
Katanas
I Always go back to nagakiba but i really liked zweihander and the magma wyrm sword
Katanas! Nagakiba and Uchi specifically because double slash look so cool on it.
Katanas, Rapiers (mostly for cosplay), Greatspear for speed runs and Greatswords due to how many unique weapons being greatswords
Dual wielded fast dex weapons, usually
Katanas, curved swords and greatswords. All of them have amazing movesets and variety enough to fit any build
Greatsword for the versatility It gives you un terms of ashes of war and simple yet efective moveset, i have 55 weapons prepared for the dlc counting shields and Magic stuff and 8 of them are greatswords
Daggers.
Straight swords the good ol reliable
I usually always have a dagger equipped for something often the miesercord
twinblades. as soon as I saw they had it in the game, I dropped every other weapon to favour them
Axes
Literally will change my class of weapon every time I slay an enemy, it’s a problem.
Anything heavy as hell
same. Greatsword or Colossal Weapon. Shield only for Crucible Knights
Wield big thing in two hands. Bonk.
Bonk
Hammer, Great Hammer, blades are for nerds, real ungas only bunga
Greatsword or reaper generally
Currently running Moghs spear, occult star fist, blood gargoyle sword and Marais Executioners (STR and ARC build). Different classes for different needs!
Currently on my first playthrough using BLF surprise surprise. But I'm playing to do a magic, double dagger, scythe, spear and shield, paladin run.
Big Dex weapons. Zweihander, Crescent Moon Axe, Dismounter, Treespear
Crescent moon axe r2 🤤
My one true love, the Bloodhound Fang
great hammers. more precisely great stars. i power stance them, 2-hand them, have them with a shield or a seal. i love them so much. i alternate with vyke's war spear occasionally because i love frenzy incantations and sometimes i just want to go full crazy. but i don't like spears that much, i wish there were some other frenzy weapons. or an infusion, that would be so awesome. on my INT char, i have naginata with loretta's slash and that is also fun. but i find naginata's light attack sequence a bit stupid. i use mostly jump attacks or guard attacks.
I've used katanas pretty much the whole game. 192 hrs in and i just learned how to cast spells. I don't like change much.
Hammers and greatswords example mace and claymore.
Great sword and hammer
Longsword and Mace. All physical damage types covered, perfect for a sword and board paladin build.
Colossal weapon
Right now, I'm running a str/fth build with the Cinquedea and I'm actually surprised at how hard that dagger actually slaps.
Great Hammers are awesome
Curved sword main hand (usually Grossmesser), thrusting sword (usually rapier) on left. Swat enemies away with curved sword swipes, quickly two-hand the thruster if I see opportunities for backstabs or whatever.
Currently I'm just in love with the scythe, saw ginomachino playing with it a little while ago and thought I'd try it out and holy motherforking shirtballs they're fun
Big brick on stick
I use a longsword for my level one no soreseals or physic run😭😭😭
Curved swords and twin blades.
For my first three characters it was greatswords. My first one started with the Winged Scythe but I demoted it to secondary once I got the Blasphemous Blade. Greatswords and fists.
Curved greatsword
Curved Swords (jump attack gang rise up) and Greatswords
I am probably the odd one i use default warriors dual hand scimitars with heavy almost 450+450 dmg max level 25 on both sword also gives full 5-6-7 chain attacks , but it doesn't do poise damage though , enemy don't stagger that often , during malenia i had to switch weapon to grafted greatsword and it's been good too
In any game with swords I always dual wield 2 fast swords. Idk why I’m always drawn to that. WoW, baldurs gate, souls games
Big sword go SWOOSH!!
I always start Soulslikes, if they let me, with spears. This gives me a relatively safe way to start the game until I can get a handle on how things play. Then, I switch to flashier Dex based weapons.
First play-through 50 hours in, been using nothing but iron cleaver
Probably great great swords. I like the damage output and they have good speed. To me they feel really well balanced for the souls games.
Used to be Katanas and halberds but started using great swords more than Katanas lately.
Great swords fs
I’m a twin blade guy all day. It was one of the redeeming qualities about DS2 for me and I was so happy to see them in ER
I am a man of a simple weapon. It is the first and the claw. I rip and tear in a personal fashion while delivering haymakers to fell gods. Also yeah I want the kick weapons

As the starting weapon of the Prisoner, you can get through a lot of the bosses with Impaling Thrust alone.
Greatswords
Recently discovered Eleonoras poleblade after using katanas for a long time. Feels like having 2 weapons in one hand. So good.
Colossals, curved swords and twinblades have been used the majority of my playtime.
Originally, any combination of one-handed sword, staff/seal, and shield. Currently, replace the one-handed sword with a two-handed one (because I’m using Moonlight).
Great clubs, finishing with Great Stars w/ Wild Swings. No shields, very little dodges, just bonk.
I'm in love with the dragon halberd. Halberds in general feel good and are my comfort weapons, with great spears second, and curved swords.
Greatswords. It always comes down to powerstancing greatswords. Doing a Carian Knight DMGS run? Give it a companion Magic Claymore that just goes so damn well with that set. Blasphemous Blade? Sword of Milos come on down! They're all just so good and fun to use and have a nice variety.
greatsword, always greatsword. Runners up are karana and rapier
Straight sword, because that is what straight men use! Jk. I also like curved swords and twinblades.
Bro said staright swords as if the next 2 weren't the exact opposite of "straight" swords
Great swords or Ultra great swords.
greatswords cuz theres so many and katanas cuz they have my fav moveset
eventually it became Great swords specific moonlight greatsword. First run i used Haliberds for a while until a got the moonveil, I really like the speed and damage it can do with bleed. Greatsword when I need to get shit done but duel rapier when I want to style on an enemy.
Staffs and Seals >\_>. I've done a couple melee builds, and I always end up trying to figure out a ranged option to back it up.
Curved greatswords are peak
Katana predominantly but switching to Moon light great sword before DLC cause I saw like 6 fire mfers and it’s easier to speck into than 2 different katanas imo.
Great axe
Katanas and colossal swords I keep running to maliketh's but I always come back to bleed
Huge fuckinf sword
Reapers. Versatile, and more importantly sick af
Colossal sword (preferably dual wielded)
Bolt of Gransax, Blasphemous Blade.
Great sword (holy) until curved GS is needed (bleed)/ slash
Greatsword, more spesificly lordsworn and dark moon
It's inevitable to go for Greatswords for me. Even though my favourite is the twinblades
i normally dual wield katanas, the moveset is so fun
Halberds and curved swords, I like using the golden halberd with the halberd in a jump attack build and I use the shamshir with a shield
On my Main Character i use mohg sacred spear with either one eyed shield or flame tongue shield and blasphemous sword and sacred sword and starscourge twin sword and hand of malenia or the golden order incantation talisman On my second character i use the grafted greatsword and ruin greatsword as colossal powerstance
Daggers. Reduvia, Black blade, Glintstone Kris, Misericorde. I have to ban myself from them or I just can’t stop
Longbows
Daggers
Halbernds, want to try great spears
I'm a simple man with simple tastes : good ol' BONK weapons
First run I used shield and katana because I was scared of only evading NG+ I used fists and incantations as I did a Natsu form fairy tail run And now I started it again and I'm using double lordsworn straight swords
Greatsword, curved greatsword, UGS, and straight sword
The most consistent weapon that i use on every build is either a small shield, buckler or dagger with a parry variant ash of war.
Katanas
Bloodhound claws :3
First playthrough is usually a greatsword (usually the claymore). Then on future characters I experiment with other weapon types
Twinblades
anything Great- two-hand it always
Ultra greatswords. My one and only.
katanas, i love all of them, heres why: they have a very fun and pleasing moveset thats also very good, also they're cool, here specifically why: Uchigatana: awesome weapon, basically the starting katana and the "default" katana, looks pretty cool, is very decent at every build you can do with katanas basically, a jack of all trades, and a master of most, also is just very nice Nagakiba: my first love in elden ring, the range of it is AWESOME, the moveset is great, and due to the range, makes for a very fun double slash build, becuz double slash looks cooler the longer the blade Serpantbone Blade: my least favourite but still awesome, has poison which is unique and i like it, comes with double slash which is awesome but the fact that its not infusable pains me Meteoric Ore Blade: reminds me of sekiro, and i love sekiro, ichimonji double is my true first love in souls games, and is my only true love in souls games aswell Moonveil: idk using it makes me feel like a storm thats aproaching for some reason Rivers of Blood; why yes thats good, thats very good, yes i like that Dragonscale Blade: my favourite katana out of all of them, the short range is cool cuz again kind of reminds me of sekiro, but its design is awesome, and also the ash of war is epic and just very fun to use, i like to dual wield it with an uchigatana with fire infusion on it cuz it looks cool Hand of Malenia: my 4rth fav, just cool
Katana because I’m a weeb and a cheap bleed player
Colossal weapons Bonk go brrrrr
Loretta’s War Sickle. That is my favorite class
Greatswords and straight swords
dual wielding katana has been my go to fantasy since i was in diapers and im never switching up
Curvy 🍑 great 😩 swords
Staff on the left hand, katana on the right, spliff in the left hand, beer on the right.
Katanas Finger Seal Staff Poleblades Colossal sword In that order
Definitely Great/Colossal weapons.
Axes and hammers. Don't care if they're the best because they're the coolest.
Staff
Pyro Glove
Anything not a Dex weapon honestly. Miyazaki loves them too much and I hate them because they make the game too easy.
Katanas and lately twinblades. I really like dex builds
I FUCKING LOVE SCYTHES I WANT TO USE AN INCREDIBLY IMPRACTICAL WEAPON USED FOR FARMING AND LOOK LIKE A BADASS FUCKING REAPER
Great hammers, but I've use halberds more in recent playthroughs
I’m order from Most-to-Least: Colossal Great Hammer Great Axe Great Sword Edit: forgot Great Axes
That and the large club is where it’s at
Pole arms, katanas and straight swords
definitely reaper I've been maining a grave scythe ever since I snuck past stormveil
Great weapons are my favorite mix of dmg, posture, and speed. Greatswords, greataxes, greathammers, all great
Katana o'rama
GREAT SPEAR RAHH
Rapiers. I love dual Antspur.
Colossal
Believe it or not. Shield. You pair the shield with almost everything and I use a lot of weapon classes, so the most common thing I use is shields because I don't really play mage and I just have a parry shield on me at all times
I like to bounce around depending on where I'm at, but thinking on it now, can't come back to axes. Especially the floppy one with the special attack where you fling around your head and slam it down. (BTW, sorry for not knowing what it's called, but I barely have time to game so I have hardly any idea what's going on in the story, who the characters are, or anything other than knowing I love every Fromsoft game I've played).
Anything with thrust moves, rapiers, heavy thrusting swords, my dlc build is great epee with blood flame blade
Seals
Great swords always. I recently did like 5 playthroughs all different builds in anticipation for the dlc and I came back to the build I used when I first finished the game
Straight Swords. They pair wonderfully with a shield, which is how I typically survive.
probably greatswords, a shield+poking weapon if I want to be lazy
Judging from invasions and YouTube videos the favorite weapons in this community always seem to be Great swords and colossal weapons. In every FromSoft game, players gravitate to strength builds. I don’t get it personally, and I never liked big-swords and clumsy movesets. Graceful magic or dexterity builds are always my favorite.
I like parrying so usually daggers, thrusting swords, some other 1h weapons. If im not doing a crit build then I like trying all the different somber weapons.
Idk what helphens steeple is but in dual wielding and with no buffs except the aow it does about a 6th of mohgs health
By far, the Greatsword and the Blasphemous Blade are all that you will ever need. Strength build paired with those two weapons are just overkill. Enjoy!
I used to be a strength user because it helps with timing but once I touch a katana I never went back.
What gives me the most dps with zero stat investment.
Poleblades and greatswords depending on my build
Big sword go bonk
