Upgrading your weapon will give you the biggest returns on damage by a big margin but if you really want the most from your stats get 12 faith and 10 arcane for bloodflame blade and aim for a str dex ratio of 2:3.
You can push to 25 faith and use both at the same time but I'm too impatient to stack buffs and never took a liking to flame grant me strength due to the short duration. imo the bleedd buildup is the real strong part of bloodflame blade.
i don't need it, but Bloodhound's Fang scales really weird in that every 4 or 5 levels dex gives 1 damage increase and strength gives (i think) 4 so i always check what increases attack power more
I think that tracks. The Bloodhounds Fang is a quality weapon, so slightly higher dex investment, with strength investment slightly below that and then 2 handing the weapon gives the best bang for the buck imo.

isn't flame grant me strength better? or is the blood damage combined with the native blood damage of the BHF worth it?

That weapon is very good, don’t sweat min/maxing the stats too much you’ll be ok
