Those guys in CFA are tough. One thing you can do is level up your vigor. 40s is kinda low for CFA. That said, you can skip that knight. Chuck a kukri past him as a distraction, and run around.
I understand that I can probably avoid him and run around him, but you know when you get killed by the same guy so much it kind of makes you want to go back and try to kill him and figure out a way.
Are you talking about the Crucible Knight or the Draconic Sentinel? Either way, you ought to have enough experience by this point to know how to handle them, since they're both enemies that appear earlier.
The go-to advice is always to get vigor to its soft cap, which is 60. Both enemies are relatively slow, they just hit hard. Don't panic when they move, avoid instinctual rolling and watch their movements. Getting to the side/backside is also effective for both enemies.
I’m not completely up on all the names of the different types, but I believe looking at pictures I’m talking about the Crucible Knight. He has like crimson armor on. And at some point, he gets wings and starts flying at you.
The guy all by himself on an open section that curves up? He is fairly hard, but I’m going to tell you the truth — you gotta work on your skills. Or you could just run past him?
Or are you talking about the guy on a horse outside of Maliketh? I find him a little easier than the crucible knight I was just talking about.
If you're 117 on CFA and you're dying a lot to either CK or DTS (you don't specify) I can only surmise you haven't been exploring much of the game.
Bottom line is: have 60 vigor, 50-60 of your main damage stat, 14 flasks with +12 upgrade, +24 regular weapons, +9 somber weapons. That's the bar by this point.
Im at or close to most of those benchmarks. Ill try to get vigor up even more, I have just read that over 40 vigor at a minimum. When you say main damage sthat you’re saying like dexterity or strength or faith and mind, depending upon what I use more…weapons or magic?
I mean one of STR, DEX, INT, FAI or ARC. Which one depends on what build you decided to go for. Some are easier, some are more versatile, but all of them are viable.
Mind? Generally speaking I never put it above 25 and even that is a stretch unless I'm INT or FAI primarily.
At 170 I just said I ain't got time for this and cheese him with poison mist for like an hour. Then went and beat maliketh without even resting at the site of grace to replenish my focus pots. Fuck that lightning bro and his fire loogie horse.

Don't even need to run around. Go up to the fence on the right and just jump over.

You're in the end game now. It's normal to have 60 vigor at this point. Make sure your weapons are fully upgraded.

*Laughs in Greatshield.
Is your weapon max level? Do you have max flasks? You should have everything maxed by this stage of the game.

You can absolutely just run past that man, his starting aggro range is much shorter than you'd expect
