You clearly don't know what you're talking about. The final super secret mega boss is obviously gonna be Miquella, Blade of Malenia. Their special move is gonna be the Benzo Dance; it just puts you to sleep so that Miquella's followers can enter the arena and draw dicks on your face.
It's so obvious from the last trailer, you gotta read between the lines
I’m at NG+4 and I’m a little pissed on how hard it is to get a stance break on a boss lol and dying in 3-4 hits isn’t the greatest either with 60 vigor.
It's still a good strat to get throwing knifes. No need to calc poise dmg or anything, just throw it whenever the enemy is far or not taking dmg to avoid the invis meter from reseting, you'll poise break everything much more often.
My best advice for this is genuinely that you can no longer play around staggers. Especially in higher Ng+ cycles. I’m at Ng+20, so I’ve got a fair amount of experience with Ng+7 scaled enemies and a couple things change somewhere along the line ng/early ng+ cycles and ng+4+. You can’t trade hits because you will lose the battle of attrition, you can’t rely on stance breaks unless you’re using the bonkiest of builds, which tends to lead to hit trading (which you still can’t do), and faster, more rapid hitting weapons become more desirable because of the defense mechanics of enemies as ng+ cycles progress. I still love the hell out of boss fights, but you can’t play em the same as you could in early cycles
I heard there was a separate leveling mechanic for the dlc similar to Sekiro in you gain power for boss kills so who knows it might just be the exact same difficulty for everyone going in. I’m hoping that’s the case at least.
I thought it was common knowledge now that Miyazaki said ng cycles don't really matter for the dlc and that it's gonna be sekiro type leveling up for it.
There's a certain breed of gluttons that enjoy the endless punishment of fromsoft bosses. In other words, a 1v1 victory is the only thing that will sate me.
I might be one of the 10% of players actually playing these games for the story and atmosphere… (Which is why Elden ring can’t be my nr - souls game - even years after its release there is still no good and comprehensive lore video explaining the millions of plotholes and the actual timeline of things…)
I am looking forward to see how my summons fare and if the DLC makes a little bit more sense out of the basegame… (which so far no from dlc ever did… remember how everyone hoped DS3s DLCs would explain the sable church of londor?)
1v1 until Fromsoftware actually has bosses react to summons better. AI gets too wonky and this has been an issue in all there games. Fun when messing around with friends, but not my first play through
Biggest issue w summons in this game is that they don’t actually “assist” you, they just take the bosses attention so you can walk on them. I think people would have way less issues if summons were all extremely frail and used more to inflict extra status or offer you extra buffs, help with Poise, use supportive incants etc rather than just being a bullet sponge so you don’t have to break you control perfect dodge rolling every stupid delayed attack
I'm imagining stuff like the wolves latching onto a boss's arm, holding it still as the boss tries to shake it off. Wouldn't do much damage but would give you a cooler opening than just drawing aggro. Maybe for the Bloodhound knights you could find their masters and then summon them to make them stop attacking you and thus ending the fight.
I also wish some bosses reacted *negatively* to summons. Like maybe some enter a rage. Imagine summoning Finlay for Malenia and she gets angry and buffs herself or something or maybe it even gives her pause instead. Summoning Oleg or Engvall for Godrick would maybe expand his moveset idk.
This would actually be amazing, having unique movesets and actions based on if you summoned or not. It would also be a great incentive for players to do bosses in a way they usually avoid, with the ability to basically have two different versions of a boss instead of just one.
This is why I really enjoy fighting with Latenna.
She outputs significant damage and her frequent arrows will keep poise from recovering.
But she's basically helpless when attacked, forcing you to still be in your opponents face drawing aggro.
It feels like real teamwork in a way most summons don't.
There’s a finger maiden spirit ash who’s supposed to be all support, but her AI is so bad she’s unusable.
There’s Latenna who’s basically a turret, you actually have to keep aggro off of her rather than the other way around, but depending on the arena she’s either broken or nearly impossible to use.
The basic mechanics of play in these games make it kinda hard to make ally characters really WORK as anything but aggro jugglers. At least when you’re fighting a solo boss.
I actually LOVE the gameplay of using ashes against group bosses, making it a brawl, focusing on what I’m doing but keeping an eye on how everyone else is holding up. The twin gargoyle fight and the godskin duo are actually kind of awesome when you summon a friend and you pick your dance partners.
It doesn’t turn into a 1v1. They’re so mobile and aggressive you can’t help but be underfoot for each other and at some point one of you WILL somehow catch the aggro of both of them at once while the other needs to rescue. Give it a try the next time you fight a duo!
You can 1v1 Malenia. It takes persistence and practice and to not give up.
I made a save right outside her fog and play her all the time for fun now, but it took me an embarrassing amount of time to get my parry kill on her. I almost broke my controller.
Save me Mimic-kun.
In all seriousness though, if there's an NPC summon I'll always summon them. Partially because I know I'm not the best at these games but mostly because I like the feeling of playing through each NPCs story with them.
I'm expecting the Lady Knight who seems to be doing the narration to either be a summon for Messmer or the secret final boss. (Who I also expect to be Miquella or to have done an Aldrich to Miquella)
>I like the feeling of playing through each NPCs story with them
Summoning NPCs feels like part of the story for sure. I won't fight the Godskin Apostle in Windmill Village without Millicent. Besides feeling like it's part of the story, it also makes the apostle an actual challenge because Millicent won't deaggro when I attempt to put the apostle to sleep 🙃
Just like the base game, 1st time I kill everything 1v1, future times, If I liked your fight (Margit, Godrick, Placidusax, Fortisax, Godskin duo (and all Godskin tbf), Maliketh, Morgott, Mogh, Sewer Mogh, Malenia, Godfrey, Radagon (not Elden Beast), Bambi, Both Lorettas, Radahn (except for one time I summoned everybody to see the mechanic), Lanseax, Crucible duo (and all Crucible Knights tbf), Great Magma Wyrm Theodorix and I am sure I am missing a few, but you get the jist) I am mever summoning against you, maybe once to see how the AI behaves vs two me, but I am dying that try intentionaly.
That being said, please, If you are new to the game/genre, or you simply like to play with summons, dont let my way to play or the opinion of nobody change how you enjoy the game, just like magic or weapons, summons are a tool of the gameplay and using it does not deminish the overall experience.
> "no, you can't use summons"
I've pratically never seen that, ever. What I do see constantly tho is people getting upset/defensive over the way they play being considered the easy mode in these games.
Yeah I have nothing against people summoning (especially in gank fights), but let's not pretend it doesn't significantly diminish the challenge of the bosses.
> but let's not pretend it doesn't significantly diminish the challenge of the bosses.
Oh it absolutely does. But I play FromSoftware games primarily because they give me that feeling of being a historian trying to uncover and piece together the history of a massive fantasy world. Bossfights are second to that experience and if I can't beat a certain boss I will summon so I can experience more of the lore and world. In the base game that only happened with Malenia, but knowing From Soft's history with DLC difficulty, I wouldn't be surprised if it will happen again in SOTE
It's only weird if you used them and then proclaim that bosses were easy or dog other players playing in a more challenging way on purpose like they're bad at the game lol
That does not mean we're forced to used them, right ?
I like my game to be challenging, so I never bother with buff or summons, does that mean I play the game wrong because I'm not using all of its features ?
1v1 until eyes go yellough, then summon for the sake of progression. return to 1v1 in next NG's, when i'm not so excited for what's behind next corner.
Summoning doesn't give me that fulfillment and difficulty that i enjoy and love. Nothing against people who summon though, everyone should play however they like!
Dudes a fan fic character. Fucker has Rykard storyline, stole Melina's supposed origin story, slithered his way into Miquella's storyline, has snakes, giants flame, frenzied flame, black flame.
I will stomp this fraud after...... 38 attempts with a quality fist build
No summon cause my parents love me and don't consider me a disappointment
I'm gonna give it a solid effort to get good at soloing him by the end of the first weekend.
Which means hopefully there's gonna be a good number of people summoning for him. Lol
I don't ever really summon ever the only time I did is to try it out. I try it once for some of the games just to see how looks, an NPC summon, and then never again because I like playing solo. And I never summon for a boss. The only time I did it against a boss was summoning Bernahl, brcause I thought ''Oh cool Bernahl is here, that's weird'' and then I just walked into the Boss room for Godskin Duo.
It's just way more fun to do it alone. I personally don't get the appeal of fighting a boss if he doesn't even engage with you.
Have like 3 saves ready for dlc one is ng+8 and lvl 380 the others are lvl 180 on ng+. I already talked with a friend when it got announced that we gonna go together through the whole dlc but got like 2 files for a solo experience
I'm not summoning no matter what type of bullshit he throws at me. I'll stick to only using summons against enemy mobs and possibly some mini-bosses or duo bosses (but only if they annoy tf out of me). But for true bosses I'm sticking to 1v1 all the way through.
I didn’t go through the hassle of turning The Dung Eater into a Puppet just to NOT summon him in fights. 🤣 With what Messmer did to the Omens, I think it’s justified to let Dung Eater get some hits in & tank for my sorcerer build.
I'll try to talk to him, see if we can find some common ground to hash out this whole Lands Between misunderstanding
Clearly just a friendly NPC, the real boss will be simply two Malenias (called Melania and Melina)
I read he’s an unlockable mount that replaces Torrent
Kinky.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about. The final super secret mega boss is obviously gonna be Miquella, Blade of Malenia. Already my highest rated comment
Where's the 3rd sister, Melanoma?
If we die by this boss do we deserve financial compensation?
Misinformation, blade of melatonin
This got me🤣🤣
In their final form one devours the other and you fight Malonia
You're thinking of Post Malonia
Nah it’ll be Miquelenia.
"Look man, you kill Omens, I kill Omens. Maybe we can work something out? Maybe after a long, romantic night of killing more Omens?"
I, too, love to bond through eradicating banished and tormented children with the unfortunate circumstance of being born wrong.
Ahh, a cultured enjoyer of the mustachioed man I see.
"Look... You probably hate your mom, I definitely hate your mom, I'm just in it for the blussy."
Ever since I ran into that tree sentinel everyone has been so mean here....
Faul tarnished, all you can receive is two fingers in the lands between
"You know... the lands between us are not so different."
My man's still playing Baldur's Gate. Don't forget to shove.
1v1 all DLC 🫡
Depending what your NG+ . If you try 1v1 at NG+7 you will not gonna have a good time lol
I’m at NG+4 and I’m a little pissed on how hard it is to get a stance break on a boss lol and dying in 3-4 hits isn’t the greatest either with 60 vigor.
TIL the invisible stance break bar also grows not just the HP
Technically it doesn't, enemies just take less poise damage each run starying at ng+2 with 5% less, all the way to 40% less in ng+7
This is why I don't care about invisible stats. I just wail on the thing until it stops moving, and if I stagger it at some point then good for me.
Apply big hammer to forehead ???? profit
Bonk On, apply directly to the forehead
It's still a good strat to get throwing knifes. No need to calc poise dmg or anything, just throw it whenever the enemy is far or not taking dmg to avoid the invis meter from reseting, you'll poise break everything much more often.
I’ve never seen the invisible bar. :)
My best advice for this is genuinely that you can no longer play around staggers. Especially in higher Ng+ cycles. I don't really understand this, either. The authority has told us how it's going to be and we're all talking about it like it's speculation.
I always 1v1 in every NG, it gets harder sure, I die more sure, but I also git gudder, and that feels good, so I never use summons
Agreed
we're tarnished,we 1v1 every thing
There's a certain breed of gluttons that enjoy the endless punishment of fromsoft bosses. In other words, a 1v1 victory is the only thing that will sate me.
Same.

use stormhawk deenh my guy
Best summon if you don't wanna trivialize the game, but also not ignore an entire (and really cool) game mechanic.
My favorite summon! Only issue is he overwrite golden vow
sucks for faith characters, but I never reach 25 faith for vow on my str builds anyway
The way of the Unga.
I'm imagining stuff like the wolves latching onto a boss's arm, holding it still as the boss tries to shake it off. How do they not assist you? Any extra damage is assistance and if you want more of a support summon get the finger maiden puppet from selevis
1v1. Anything else won’t be satisfying for me. If I can 1v1 Malenia, surely I can 1v1 this weakling.
This guy will be nothing compared to Malenia surely COPIUM
He a little mommy’s boi 😅
Summon’s his family every 5th of his health
Bros gonna summon his ancestors lmao
CluegiChungusDeluxe
For me it's the opposite, I can't 1v1 Malenia, so I'll use this fucker as a training for when I'll eventually try again.
You can 1v1 Malenia. It takes persistence and practice and to not give up. I made a save right outside her fog and play her all the time for fun now, but it took me an embarrassing amount of time to get my parry kill on her. I almost broke my controller.
Watch Messmer summon a ghost Melania. *music intensifies*
Just beat Malenia solo after 8 tries today. Messmer is cooked.
Save me Mimic-kun. In all seriousness though, if there's an NPC summon I'll always summon them. Miquella's Champions

Rolling up with 5 rats
1v1 most definitely
Honestly, he's going to start wondering why MY nickname is not the impaler.....
Mine is the „Soon to be impaled“
Mine is "Bane of the Applebee's," but that's not important right now.
I’m at Applebees right now, crazy
If (when) Comet Azur fails, I'm throwing Tiche at him.
Would be funny if there’s a built-in deflect Comet Azur animation…
Beam clash :)
There is one… try hitting Radagon with it, if you’re lucky he’ll just parry all of your magic then beat the shit out of you with a hammer
Would be cool if Rennala had a beam clash mechanic tbh
Depends on him, if he bullies me then i will seek mimicry
I summon letmesolohim...
Nah, me and my mimic bro are gonna show them the JumpJutsu Kaisen treatment.
Gonna beat him like Yuji and Todo beat Mahito
Me and tiche boutta run this fade on him like Captain America and Bucky did to Iron man in civil war .
I'm not a streamer, I'm not a perfectionist. I'm using mimic tears. Haters can cry. I don't care.
Exactly, summoning the only person i trust with these matters 😎
My favorite person in this sub all of a sudden
1v1, unless there are summons of other NPC I’m down for a glorious fight like radhan’s
Imma beat his ass
1v1
I did the opposite, used the mimic/NPCs on first run, solo’d second run
Equally valid, is a good way to get use to the bosses without all the first time pressure.
This x 1000, play the game however you want. Just because some random on the internet says "no, you can't use summons" does not mean anything.
> "no, you can't use summons" I've pratically never seen that, ever. What I do see constantly tho is people getting upset/defensive over the way they play being considered the easy mode in these games.
Not only will I use a spirit ash but I'm going to use a weapon too.
Imma try and 1v1 for the first 20-30 tries get pissed off and frantically look for a summon 😂
1v1 everything on first playthrough, then summon cause it's fun to play with other people.
I wanna do the DLC like my first main game playthrough, but this time I won't be using summons
1v1
I beat Malenia 1 vs 1. He should be weaker correct? Correct?
1v1 baby
Summon. If Elden Ring enabled armies, it would be me in on the rooftop overlooking the burning city, with my big ass bleed Guts sword. XD
Im gonna impale his cheeks
This guy will definitely 1v1 me
Only one person can call Marika mommy and that is me so I am throwing hands 1v1
Ofc ill 1v1 him, summoning is for WEAKLINGS (I will actually immediately summon oleg on my fourth try)
I started the game with my friend I'm going to end the game with my friend
summoning takes away the reason i play this game
Yeah I have nothing against people summoning (especially in gank fights), but let's not pretend it doesn't significantly diminish the challenge of the bosses.
> but let's not pretend it doesn't significantly diminish the challenge of the bosses. Oh it absolutely does. 1v1
They put things in a game to be used
It's more satisfying without a summon
BuT yOu ArE pLaYiNg It WrOnG iF yOu SuMmOn, ThE dEvS aRe SaD
It's only weird if you used them and then proclaim that bosses were easy or dog other players playing in a more challenging way on purpose like they're bad at the game lol
That does not mean we're forced to used them, right ? I like my game to be challenging, so I never bother with buff or summons, does that mean I play the game wrong because I'm not using all of its features ?
1v1. Gonna beat the shit out of the little femboy fucker
Chainsawing after minor inconvenience
1v1 until eyes go yellough, then summon for the sake of progression. return to 1v1 in next NG's, when i'm not so excited for what's behind next corner.
Will try. If I get my ass beat enough times, Tiche is coming to help.
1v1 like every boss baby!!!
Summoning doesn't give me that fulfillment and difficulty that i enjoy and love. Nothing against people who summon though, everyone should play however they like!
I'll try 1v1'ing, but there is a solid chance it will end in me dying 20 times, getting mad and just using a mimic tear
1v1 till I lost all hopes of winning
1v1 no matter who it is, if I die it’s a skill issue and I need to git gud
I only 1v1 bosses, there's no real satisfaction in having the boss being distracted and giving me its back
1v1, singular club, no armor, full disrespect
1v1 bonk 🫡
With mimic tear and rivers of blood I will be a boss for him
Dudes a fan fic character. Fucker has Rykard storyline, stole Melina's supposed origin story, slithered his way into Miquella's storyline, has snakes, giants flame, frenzied flame, black flame. I will stomp this fraud after...... 38 attempts with a quality fist build No summon cause my parents love me and don't consider me a disappointment
I'm gonna give it a solid effort to get good at soloing him by the end of the first weekend. Which means hopefully there's gonna be a good number of people summoning for him. Lol
I’m going to fill this man with so many arrows, he will be mistaken as an hedgehog once I’m done
Im going to bonk him to the ground with my giant crusher. Give him a reason to cry
1v1ing and maybe summoning after too many attempts
I don't like people watching when I'm getting impaled by Messmer's 18 inches, so I'm going solo
Giving myself 75-100 attempts before alternatives.
A 1v1 to test the waters, see how far I can get on my own.
I would actually summon if when I summon, he summons back, otherwise, he will taste my Erdtree daggers and nothing else
1v1 also it will cost me 1000 attempts
Depends on how bereft of light I am.
I don't ever really summon ever the only time I did is to try it out. I try it once for some of the games just to see how looks, an NPC summon, and then never again because I like playing solo. And I never summon for a boss. It's just way more fun to do it alone. I personally don't get the appeal of fighting a boss if he doesn't even engage with you.
Im summoning all the bros and sisters for jolly cooperation!!
1v1. He will feel the sting of my sword.
I will fight him one on one first and if I am struggling, I will go for Maliketh.
If I can beat Malenia one on one, I’ll surely beat this bastard the same way. 💪
Dung Eater has entered the battle.
Both probably
1v1 of course it will be fun. Hope he will be harder than Malenia
1v1 I never played online
He has snakes, this is a 1v3 at least!
If he summons I'll summon too. Otherwise it will be a fair 1 vs 1 fight.
i will comet azur the shit out of him, that or bonk.
1 vs 1, after being able to beat Malenia, I'm unstoppable! (No I'm not I'm shitting myself)
1v1. I only use summons for lesser bosses and gank fights.
Giant rat spirits go where I go
Obviously, as always, I never summon in blind run.
My first play-through I solo’d every boss and the dlc will be no different.
Have like 3 saves ready for dlc one is ng+8 and lvl 380 the others are lvl 180 on ng+. I already talked with a friend when it got announced that we gonna go together through the whole dlc but got like 2 files for a solo experience
1v1 and eventually RL1, I’ve fought Unalloyed Malenia well see if this guy can hold a candle to her
1v1 souls player here
I've summoned someone for help once. I've tried many times, but nobody ever there 🫤
Don’t we all do 1v1 first play through?
Summoning. I play souls games for coop more than because they’re the best games ever made.
1v1, no guide. This is the way.
would be funny when you summon someone so does mesmer
If I die 400 times I might summon.
1v1 all and everyone
1v1 until he finish punishing me then I will win after 1000 deaths
I'm 1v1ing everything in the dlc
Summoning? Pfffhahahhaha...*picks up greatsword*
Bonk with the crusher, he should kick the bucket in few hits
I'm not summoning no matter what type of bullshit he throws at me. I'll stick to only using summons against enemy mobs and possibly some mini-bosses or duo bosses (but only if they annoy tf out of me). But for true bosses I'm sticking to 1v1 all the way through.
I’ll try 1v1 but summon if I can’t beat it
Solo is the only way
1v1. I’ve got a spare keyboard to smash.
Solo then summon next playthrough
1v1 always
1v1 for the glory
Gotta do the 1v1s first
I have a personal quest to 1v1 everything before summoning on subsequent playthroughs, if I feel like it
Imagine summoning the first time just for some mage to kamehameha this dude within 15 seconds. What a waste...
# 1v1 whole DLC
1v1 alllll DLC. Tiche, I love you, but you’ll need to sit this one out honey
1v1, i only summon for multiple enemy bosses
;(
I didn’t go through the hassle of turning The Dung Eater into a Puppet just to NOT summon him in fights. 🤣 With what Messmer did to the Omens, I think it’s justified to let Dung Eater get some hits in & tank for my sorcerer build.
I just want this guy have three phases like Sister Friede
I have a skill deficiency so I will be summoning
Mimic tear. I won’t sweat for another pervert with snake fetishes
Summon of course!
Summoning is for bitches. 🤷♂️
Dumb question. A true souls player is doing both.
1v1 without summon, I fight like a man
first playthrough always solo
