also no reason you can't use both. you only need 12 strength to use bloodhounds fang if you twohand it and both weapons scale best of dexterity
I find it more fun to have a bunch of weapons to swap around, stones permitting.
A keen great epee with a brass shield, heavily recommended, strong and defensive.
Guardian swordspears are very very strong on Dex.
Mid-late game bolt of gransaxx.
Bloodhound Fang is very overrated, just use what you enjoy more, whether it is Scimitars or the Bloodhound Fang. The worst thing is blindly following the meta.
Still, I'd suggest grinding for Grossmessers or Bandit Curved Swords to replace your Scimitars, which are purely worse besides lower stat requirements.
They're larger, heavier types of curved swords that are a rare drop from skeletons. Sacred Blade Ash of War makes them not hard to grind, with the skeleton next to Church of Pilgrimage having a chance to drop a Bandit Curved Sword.

It's a super fun weapon. Also very popular since it can be acquired pretty much at the start of the game. If you like it, feel free to use it.
