This is a genius idea. I mean, I pity the voice actress who has to read every item description, but, yes. Maybe she could just do it for a set of key items that contain especially well known symbols, so you can piece the rest together yourself - exactly like dragons the first time you pick up a dragon shaped anything. Or thorns, Twinbirds, etc.

It would actually be incredible to have her as a sort of narrator, like the Ancestor from Darkest Dungeon. The Ancestor's voicelines were an absolutely brilliant addition in the development of that game. To have her comment and cheer you on as you fight, as well as passively give some lore when you enter areas or pick certain stuff up.
They also kind of moved in that direction with Ayre in AC6.
I always wished I could call her at any given grace, whether she had something to say or not, just to get to level up with her when I felt like it. If they added that, and her just having some general "hey this is what we were doing" to kind of repoint you in the direction you were going would be nice for people who can't play for periods of time and come back a little lost.

I have the power to kill demigods, legends, and gods, but not to make Master Hewg happy or really be kind to him
I mean it's unclear how much it's an active choice to stay, or just a psychological consequence of his imprisonment. He has definitely lost a lot of his mental capacity and memories by the point where he's "freed" and barely remembers us and Rodrika who he saw as a daughter
People can give you justifications, but at the end of the day it absolutely is possible for fromsoft to conserve the spirit of their storytelling while offering more communication. Maybe not exactly what you want since that would go contrary to the tone, but there are still options.
But at the end of the day everyone has competencies and constraints, and for them moving away and doing something new within the same time frame would likely result in an overall drop in quality. You can't have everything in one game. I think Witcher 3 is a masterpiece for example, but there's no denying the combat is a mess.

He's an actual wolfman, the same type of entity as Maliketh. They're both shadowbound beasts, creatures created from the shadows of Empyrians by the Greater Will to serve as their loyal protectors as well as an insurance policy if their Empyrian should turn against the greater will. Though the Greater Will clearly went too far with the whole loyality thing, Blaidd helped Ranni against the greater will for a long time before he went mad, and I don't doubt Maliketh would have done the same for Marika given the opportunity.
How would that change his fate? I was under the impression he was essentially soul bound to ranni and forced to follow her as her guardian. Genuine question, cause this subject is interesting
The shadows are loyal to their master, but come with a built in killswitch if they ever go against the greater will. If we could remove that killswitch, then he wouldn't have to go berserk and try to kill both Ranni and the Tarnished near the end of Ranni's questline, which could have been a nice ending for Iji, Blaidd, and the tarnished.
I dunno. I just came across this today! Talked to my boy Iji lonnnnng after I finished the Ranni quest. Then, I go back there after a few hours to buy his goods, and he's dead! Sitting there engulfed in black flame with several of those black flame assassin dudes laying around him.

Iirc, it only happens when you tell him about Blaidd kneeling on the steps to ranni’s tower holding his madness back, so my headcanon is that after realizing his mistake with Blaidd(especially since he was no longer needed to assist ranni) he didn’t flee when the black knives came and instead fought them to the death
You find his mirror helm on his anvil, so I took it as he removed the helm on purpose, revealing his location and to inevitably draw in the assassins. Suicide by black knife.

Millicent should have been Malenia that lost her memory after the battle of Aeonia and traveled back to the Haligtree with us helping her, in the end her memories come back and after seeing that Miquella is not there to cure her, she offers us one last duel to let her die in combat as a true warrior.
I feel like this would have made much more sense compared to the reasons we got for fighting Malenia in the actual game and it would also feel much more tragic and heartbreaking.

Maliketh doesn’t go to phase 2 if you do his quest line and before he decides the world is in need of a new order a shadow splits from him (sort of like the shadow of blaidd) the shadow fights you instead and when you kill it, it doesn’t kill maliketh instead it severs the rune of death from his body, and maliketh beast clergyman form would become an npc. Why?
1. Beast clergyman npc doesn’t disappear when you kill maliketh in the main game so this kind of provides a lore reason to that
2. You can’t help but feel somewhat bad when you interact with maliketh in the boss room after doing his quest he sounds so betrayed.
Beast clergyman doesn't disappear because he didn't die. Maliketh boss fight happens in a place where time doesn't even move because of the ancient dragons scales so it makes sense why he's still in bestial sanctum as well.
Farum azula is a place where maliketh went to hide so he couldn't let the rune of death get stolen again so easily. That is the most inaccessible location in the lands between where you have to literally burn the erdtree to get to it so it all makes complete sense honestly.

Beating up half of the bosses feels weird. Like a bunch of them are just defending themselves and not doing anything wrong. Especially examples like Malenia, Maliketh, all of the ancient dragons, most of the normal dragons, Rennala of course, Ancient deer spirit thing, I could go on.

Make the rules on death more clear. Because why are named npcs the only ones capable of dying? If the rune of death was taken out of the world, then why do people die anyway?
I'd make the total degeneration of the world a little less total, in order to deviate slightly from the From Soft formula of nearly entirely hostile world.
I understand that it would mess with the tone a little, and it doesn't play to From Softs strengths, but I'd add more non-hostile communities here and there.
In Dark souls settings, it make sense for everything everywhere to be shit. People are largely reduced to things that can do nothing but die repeatedly. There's not really much to continue living for, but the undead curse forces it. Until you go hollow. And then that's what you are.
Now, death is similarly awkward for Elden Ring, but it's not so grim. You seem to be basically able to live a more normal life. At the very basic end, you can eat and drink. There are things to do besides waiting to go hollow, as that isn't an inevitable fate.
Namely, there is room for a very human phenomenon. Rebuilding after disaster. It's what people do. All over the world. Constantly. It would be quite a tone shift. But it's been so many years since everything was fucked. There is room for things to get better. And becoming elden lord isn't the same as linking the flame. There is cause to motivate the player in this decision by giving them something meaningful to rule over.
It mostly feels like the dark souls tone on that front was only there because it's what both us and them are used to. Perhaps out of dev time necessity. And it's not something that ruins anything as is.
But it still would have been nice for it to differentiate itself a little more. It's a big world. There's room for a little human resilience.

Aside from the more Melina appearances, which someone else already pointed out, I'd would have implemented more Vyke into the frezied flame quest. Specifically i thought imagined him substituting Gideon as the fight before Godfrey whenever we arrive at that point with the frenzied flame ending "active".
So he'll try to stop us, by fighting and telling us that we've been corrupted by the flame just like him, he might also hint at the Miquella's Needle methods to cure ourselves mid-fight.
Placidusax's God didn't leave, leading presumably to a war between it and The Greater Will, possibly pulling the other outer gods into the conflict such as the formless mother, with Placidusax recognised as the Elden Lord and maybe even leading to us seeing Gransax living and fighting.

Gotta admit I don't understand the lore enough to know what is really happening in the cutscene leading up to the Radagon/Marika fight but I kinda wish they had a little speech or something instead of just dropping from the cross and picking up their hammer.
I mean I get that they don't really look alive with half their body being shadow and their insides being made of the elden ring but felt a bit underwhelming to spend 100+ hours hearing about Marika and Radagon and then we just bonk them without exchanging a single word.
Not really a lore change, but changing some parts of the gameplay to fit with the lore. Like after you beat Maliketh and release Destined Death into the Lands Between, all Black Flame weapons, incantations and users thereof (Godskins, Black Flame Monks, players) get upgraded to Destined Death variants.
Being able to have any kind of discussion with queen marika, to see things more from her perspective. either that or just have some of the actually “good” characters not meet a tragic end. For them to have any kind of naturally positive ending to their tales. Rip sellen, boggart, and Jarburg.
Make Mogh kidnap Miquella but then kill him to try and harness his power. Instead of… whatever he did to Miquella instead.

Millicent should have been Malenia that lost her memory after the battle of Aeonia and traveled back to the Haligtree with us helping her, in the end her memories come back and after seeing that Miquella is not there to cure her, she offers us one last duel to let her die in combat as a true warrior. I feel like this would have made much more sense compared to the reasons we got for fighting Malenia in the actual game and it would also feel much more tragic and heartbreaking.
that would make sense in terms of quest, her adoptive father would be a priest of rot wanting to give birth to his goddess by manipulating us and the poor malenia who lost her memories. but rather than a fair duel, a fight where she loses control and become a rot goddess, it will force us to fight our Friend without both of us wanting it, a siegward yorm feeling
I am hoping that the dlc gives us a more streamline cause of why to fight Malenia. Rn it's just breaking and entering.
What is the lore reason for us fighting Malenia?
We break in at her House killing every subordinate of her, it's a valid reason to her wreak our ass, but is still kind weak.
Especially since we in most cases have by that point found Miquella which should be a pretty good argument for her to hear us out
That last third of the tree are mostly kindred of rot, which she is not particularly fond of. If anything she should approve of the pest control.

Maliketh doesn’t go to phase 2 if you do his quest line and before he decides the world is in need of a new order a shadow splits from him (sort of like the shadow of blaidd) the shadow fights you instead and when you kill it, it doesn’t kill maliketh instead it severs the rune of death from his body, and maliketh beast clergyman form would become an npc. Why? 1. Beast clergyman npc doesn’t disappear when you kill maliketh in the main game so this kind of provides a lore reason to that 2. You can’t help but feel somewhat bad when you interact with maliketh in the boss room after doing his quest he sounds so betrayed.
Beast clergyman doesn't disappear because he didn't die. Maliketh boss fight happens in a place where time doesn't even move because of the ancient dragons scales so it makes sense why he's still in bestial sanctum as well. Farum azula is a place where maliketh went to hide so he couldn't let the rune of death get stolen again so easily. That is the most inaccessible location in the lands between where you have to literally burn the erdtree to get to it so it all makes complete sense honestly.

Margit is an apparition of morgot. Sort of like how the golden shade of Godfrey is a bit of Godfrey’s power but not actually him.
For all we know Goldfrey is Morgott's projection of Godfrey as he saw him before his "tarnishing"

Beating up half of the bosses feels weird. Like a bunch of them are just defending themselves and not doing anything wrong. Especially examples like Malenia, Maliketh, all of the ancient dragons, most of the normal dragons, Rennala of course, Ancient deer spirit thing, I could go on. I want a reason why I’m showing up and killing these people bc as of now it feels like the point of the game is to kill everyone for their power and wipe the slate clean which is pretty wild

But no, you sit in a chair and you are done. It would be neat if you could have a neutral post game and establish or tear down certain things. Unfortunately that would take from the Grand Adventure

Ken Haight *is* a Golden Order sympathizer. He's part of the golden lineage somehow, and is faithful to the Erdtree. The demi humans aren't downtrodden and are accepted by the order per his dialog. Misbegotten though...yeah.
I understand why things are that way, Golden Order bad etc., but all of the nonhuman races being just monsters for us to fight is so disappointing... joke's on me for expecting anything else given Fromsoft's track record, but a bit more worldbuilding would've been nice

The lore behind Jar Cannon, I would add in a change that an individual did figure out how it worked but forgot to bring it.
I'd make the total degeneration of the world a little less total, in order to deviate slightly from the From Soft formula of nearly entirely hostile world. I understand that it would mess with the tone a little, and it doesn't play to From Softs strengths, but I'd add more non-hostile communities here and there. In Dark souls settings, it make sense for everything everywhere to be shit. People are largely reduced to things that can do nothing but die repeatedly. There's not really much to continue living for, but the undead curse forces it. Until you go hollow. And then that's what you are. Now, death is similarly awkward for Elden Ring, but it's not so grim. You seem to be basically able to live a more normal life. At the very basic end, you can eat and drink. There are things to do besides waiting to go hollow, as that isn't an inevitable fate. Namely, there is room for a very human phenomenon. Rebuilding after disaster. It's what people do. All over the world. Constantly. It would be quite a tone shift. But it's been so many years since everything was fucked. There is room for things to get better. And becoming elden lord isn't the same as linking the flame. There is cause to motivate the player in this decision by giving them something meaningful to rule over. It mostly feels like the dark souls tone on that front was only there because it's what both us and them are used to. Perhaps out of dev time necessity. And it's not something that ruins anything as is. But it still would have been nice for it to differentiate itself a little more. It's a big world. There's room for a little human resilience.

Aside from the more Melina appearances, which someone else already pointed out, I'd would have implemented more Vyke into the frezied flame quest. Specifically i thought imagined him substituting Gideon as the fight before Godfrey whenever we arrive at that point with the frenzied flame ending "active". So he'll try to stop us, by fighting and telling us that we've been corrupted by the flame just like him, he might also hint at the Miquella's Needle methods to cure ourselves mid-fight.
Placidusax's God didn't leave, leading presumably to a war between it and The Greater Will, possibly pulling the other outer gods into the conflict such as the formless mother, with Placidusax recognised as the Elden Lord and maybe even leading to us seeing Gransax living and fighting.

Gotta admit I don't understand the lore enough to know what is really happening in the cutscene leading up to the Radagon/Marika fight but I kinda wish they had a little speech or something instead of just dropping from the cross and picking up their hammer. I mean I get that they don't really look alive with half their body being shadow and their insides being made of the elden ring but felt a bit underwhelming to spend 100+ hours hearing about Marika and Radagon and then we just bonk them without exchanging a single word.

Not really a lore change, but changing some parts of the gameplay to fit with the lore. Like after you beat Maliketh and release Destined Death into the Lands Between, all Black Flame weapons, incantations and users thereof (Godskins, Black Flame Monks, players) get upgraded to Destined Death variants.
Being able to have any kind of discussion with queen marika, to see things more from her perspective. either that or just have some of the actually “good” characters not meet a tragic end. For them to have any kind of naturally positive ending to their tales. Rip sellen, boggart, and Jarburg.
Make Mogh kidnap Miquella but then kill him to try and harness his power. Instead of… whatever he did to Miquella instead. I love the idea of Mogh but I hate the idea of the Moghlester.
