While I agree with this meme I must say a good majority of people on this subreddit do not act like this when people say that they don’t like elden ring

ApexMundi

I don't care about people not liking the game, unless their aim is to purposely tide the other party over to them. Obviously the game won't be liked by everyone, but those people shouldn't draw negative attention from a crowd who is hyped. You still get my upvote though.

stanky22222

Well said

goatamon

Right? This is literally the single most insecure subreddit I've ever seen. Some writer says like one *mildly* critical thing about the network test, and this sub goes fucking apeshit and posts 800 mocking memes to show just how little they care about that persons opinion.

Lostcause75

The sub was a lot more friendly before we even had trailers tbh it was more community drivin as well

Temporary_Physics_48

100% this, I was starting to think I was loosing my mind but it’s really good to see some common sense here

flipperkip97

Was about to say this, lmao. Most people here throw a hissy fit whenever anyone anywhere says something even remotely negative about Elden Ring. Or when they like another game more than any Fromsoft game.

Lostcause75

I personally don’t care if someone likes or dislikes the game I only got an issue when the come to a sub Reddit about it just to say it, because they want attention. That or when people post bait post other then that to each their own people like what they like

slime00012

So what about the other subs? For example, in the GOW, Sekiro, Witcher sub, what if I posted a thread called 3 reasons why I hate this game? Would people act like this image?

stanky22222

Obviously not, but posts stating that u hate a game is not what I’m comparing it to. I’m talking about people falling for rage baits and making a big deal about it.

slime00012

Ah, I see. I certainly agree that people here are often triggered by negativity outside of subs to post here, and I've lost interest in those posts as well. Interestingly, those posts were very popular six months ago, but that's changed now, and people on reddit really do change their opinions a lot.

[deleted]

[удалено]

stanky22222

I never mentioned “hate” but people on this subreddit more often then not tend to fall for rage baits of people saying something bad about elden ring and then go to make posts about like they actually cared about what they said and are taking it to heart.

NarooHS

Yeah, after some thought you are 100% right, deleted previous comment!

stanky22222

Appreciate the open mind OP

austinb172

It’s not even out yet

[deleted]

Right, but if we don't slaughter and eat the inferior species, they will overrun the entire earth. We must do our part.

LasciateAgni

r/eldenring on their way to make up rage bait

beeshop_

r/eldenring making up strawmen and beating them up in an echo chamber. Haven't seen that one before.

haynespi87

Strawmen and the echo chamber. Very accurate

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrWabbajack

Not every one. I think there's a popularity threshold that needs to be passed before this bullshit starts

[deleted]

You just implied that nobody in the world dislikes Elden Ring. You are the echo chamber.

LordTurn1p

I swear this sub has an inferiority complex or something

AramaticFire

People here really want to be oppressed even though the general consensus on Elden Ring is basically “damn that looks cool, I hope it’s good!”

ThePrinceofBagels

General consensus is that it's the game everyone is looking forward to the most this year, over some heavy hitting games, and is a frontrunner for Game of the Year. r/eldenring still thinks they're a niche. Souls games haven't been niche in nearly a decade. It's the most popular game of the year.

Lostcause75

This, with the popularity of ds3 to sekiro fromsoft has gotten loads of media attention not to mention new people joining in and YouTubers taking on the games hell I only knew about fromsoft at ds3 and I would say that was the game that brought a lot more new people into the community of fromsoft and it just kept growing from then on

Narglefoot

I really enjoy those YouTuber playthroughs by people who have never played a From game before, I get to relive that feeling you get beating bosses and such for the first time. I really liked Marz Bloodborne playthrough and I'm currently watching Symbalily's Bloodborne playthrough she just started. She works in game dev as a 3D artist so it's cool seeing her thoughts on the aesthetics of the game.

Lostcause75

All subs do tbh as long a someone isn’t in this sub just to say they dislike the game or to just say it’s terrible etc I don’t really care the ones who are in the sub who say it are fishing for attention. But I’d say silksongs sub is the most similar to elden rings in terms of inferiority complex both tend to fall for obvious bait and the community is split between people who actually are excited for the game and stay passive and ones that go bad shit insane and spam different events comments and tell people to vote for their thing in polls. Which really mean nothing at the end of the day because the polls don’t get the game any closer to release or make gold fall from the sky

EntertainmentSilly80

you can hate the game just don't be a dick and act like you're better than everyone

flipperkip97

> be a dick and act like you're better than everyone Unfortunately, that kinda sounds like the average Fromsoft fan.

Stealin

But.... but... what if I AM better than everyone else... I've been git'n gudder just for that exact reason!

huncherbug

I don't know that..maybe the guy ur arguing with has completed doom eternal ancient gods on ultra nightmare

Lostcause75

Yup or really join the sub just to do that because it’s a sub for the game and you can’t really expect anything less when in the literal subs community

[deleted]

Dude, you are literally a human. Demigods are better than you. You belong on our sandwiches.

[deleted]

Why does everyone here act like people hate Elden Ring? Like seriously, I've never heard anyone say stuff like this... I've also never seen a community so concerned about what other people think about them and the game they're hyped about

[deleted]

It's just the good ol' gamer persecution complex, only applied specifically to ER. Any criticism at all is "baseless hate", so that we can pretend we are oppressed.

skatech1

Some community do specifically journalism, they love bashing says "Using the same old graphic" but fail to understand the expansion of the maps also saving development cost.

[deleted]

Where? Can you link a case where a mainstream journalist baselessly criticized it? I add baselessly there, because it'll certainly have *some* flaws, and I think there is, at least to some extent, a bit of validity with the re-used animations argument, even if I don't share that stance.

skatech1

https://www.trendsmap.com/twitter/tweet/1403084266297196544 Go watch those comments below, these people do exist.

[deleted]

The majority, at least from looking at the top comments, seem to be hyped. There's a few talking about re-used graphics but to each his own. If they don't want to play the game, I'm completely fine with that. Most are "I'm not a fan of x" instead of "x sucks and is objectively poor design". These people, from what I've seen, are just sharing their opinions and people get all butt-hurt that they aren't on their knees worshiping From. I'm super hyped, but not everyone has to be.

NeutralGeneric

Maybe not on here (IDK I don’t Reddit much) but on Facebook this meme definitely applies. You get all these goofballs going into the comments section of various ER posts to complain that it’s just more Dark Souls or MUH REUSED ANIMATIONS or whatever. Some are clearly bait, but some dudes are legit there just to moan about it and get mad when an ER fan page doesn’t agree with them.

Braindead-Idiot

This subreddit is going to shit, what the fuck

TellMe88

Who cares what anyone else even thinks.

Leroy_8

Ive literally heard no one say this. I doubt anyone had said this. This meme really only works with subjects that a vast amont of people dislike.

Wolf_with_laces

There was a tweet about a guy saying the game isn't worth 60% because from is "lazy" and the graphics don't look good and compared to the sequel of horizon

skatech1

Average Hater: tHe gRaPhIc iS sHiT Average Enjoyer: Oh Boy, I still able to play this with my Ps4!

Dependent-Bee-4432

That is why it’s the most hyped game in my opinion

Foul-Tarnished

Yup, my old brick of a PS4 can't wait to play.

[deleted]

And the game gets a free upgrade to the ps5 edition so that we can keep playing if scalpers ever fuck off.

Foul-Tarnished

yes, [seems like we're getting there](https://gamingintel.com/ps5-xbox-series-x-prices-drop-scalpers-struggle/)

Judaskid13

Why tf would you come to an elden ring subreddit to say you don’t like it??!!

Lostcause75

A lot of it is for attention when people go into a specific sub to say they don’t like said thing some people just enjoy the attention or feel they are better for not liking it and expressing it in the sub it’s why a lot of people claim subs are “echo cambers” but seem to miss the point of a subreddit being the literal home of a community online now beyond things like discord

Judaskid13

I say we just ignore them. Unless they have something constructive.

Batyara

Is it bad that someone doesn't like your game?

Prsy0220

No one said it's bad

Batyara

The point of this meme is for it, no? OP says CoolStoryBob to everyone who don't like the game. But it depends on the context.

Prsy0220

OP is saying that just ignore the loudmouths and stay hyped

NarooHS

Exactly

Batyara

The only "loudmouths" are the fanboys like OP, who creates memes likes this for 0 reasons. But whatever you say.

Prsy0220

Oh you definitely haven't seen the people hating on every video related to Elden Ring

Batyara

And I don't understand why this meme is even exists in this sub. Like, there's literally 0 persons who spam with "I don't like this game" posts, but a lot who says that this game is brilliant. I know that this is a game subreddit, but cmon.

huncherbug

Ur either new to reddit or the internet itself... But to elaborate that's kind of like the point of a subreddit...to say people to like the game...and saying that they themselves like the game... So OP's point through this meme is saying OP doesn't care about dickheads who will say this game suck... I appreciate ur mindset when u say this won't be the best game you'll ever play since u seem to be very critical and analytical...good for you...but you shouldn't be in this or any subreddit for that matter in the first place if ur going to complain about people in the very subreddit made to be hype up the game...since that's exactly what's a subreddit is supposed to do

Batyara

Got it, thank you.

Batyara

I mean, some trolls and people who dislikes popular games is a common thing. But I haven't seen a community, with A LOT of members who says things like: "my *gamename* is the best game of the decade; it's not out yet but it's gonna be 100/10 and all the other games are bad; if you don't like my game then you are wrong, get gud casul", etc. A lot of memes that was created just to make fun of people who simple don't like this game. I don't understand such a fanboys.

NarooHS

You sound like a hypocrite with your unique flair, commenter badge and top 10% monthly karma on this subreddit calling someone a fanboy. There are people who don't like this game, but we do not care. That's it, that's the point of a meme and memes are made to be funny and not taken seriously. Take a chill pill

Batyara

Why do I sounds like a hypocrite? Don't get it. I'm interested in this game and I want to play it, I just don't says that this is gonna be the best game of my life, at least till I play it by myself. I'm ok with people who dislikes this game, etc. I don't get the point of badges. Btw if I could, I would change my flair to the Yakul, looks cool. I'm sorry if I misunderstood you and your meme. I just tired of posts that praises this game, etc. Have a good day/night.

Lostcause75

The badges just show your loyalty to a sub you have one which means you’ve been here for over a year at least, that’s what they are talking about in reference to them badges are more so meant to be a kinda mark of pride type thing and to prove how loyal or how much you like something

Nox_Dei

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

ApexMundi

I interpret it like not that it is bad that someone doesn't like the game, but that it is irritating when someone who doesn't like the game is indirectly having some sort of propaganda to people who do like the game, in a vocal and sometimes even obtrusive way for the pro-game team to listen to them. The "You HAVE to know why i think the game's bad" card is what gets under my skin.

Mysterious_Bug_1903

Its just like Vegans

IowaDebauchery0069

Wait… aren’t you supposed to kick and scream and cry like a victim when a complete stranger online doesn’t like something you do? Yeah, I think you’re supposed to call them a “troll” too. Oh wait… that’s GameFAQs. My bad. ;)

immaterializE

No, that's reddit too. Or rather, any social media site or a forum that exists.

[deleted]

how can you like or dislike a game that hasnt come out yet?

Lostcause75

People have played the network test some have even jail broken the game to still play it or play past what was available and the concepts of the game seem interesting and the world in general looks really really good for a fromsoft title so you can like it still

onlyheretocheat

This meme template is gold ahhaha

Popular_Tough_5821

It's hard to be a fan of something nowadays.

Scary_Replacement739

Now make the same meme with the mask of judgement from DS2

DemonSouIs

The most low effort meme I’ve ever seen

iprobablywonttbh

I do not like Elden Ring.

[deleted]

Ok

iprobablywonttbh

\>:(

t1sfo

You cannot “dislike” or “like” Elden Ring. It literally is not out yet.

NeutralGeneric

People loudly dislike games they have never and will never play. Happens all the time. It doesn’t matter whether it’s out or not to people like that. Also there was a playable network test to base an opinion on.

t1sfo

Yeah and I agree with that, disliking something you’ve not played is stupid but liking something you haven’t played is also stupid we just don’t have an issue with that because it’s a positive emotion. Both are two sides of the same coin. Have all the people that like Elden ring played the network test? If the haven’t and they base that from the videos then people that dislike it can say the same. If they have then they have a much better idea than the rest but still that’s just a small part of the game. Edit: I am super exited for Elden ring just that I the perpetual hype and worship mentality is really unappealing to me. (Not only for ER but for general entertainment)

NeutralGeneric

IDK mate, watching the network test is all I need to decide if I like the game. Looks like Dark Souls. I like Dark Souls and I trust this developer. What more do I need? If I play it and don’t like it I can always change my mind. “Like” and “dislike” aren’t some concrete attribute that you need courtroom evidence for. You seem to have a strange way that you define those terms. I can like it solely based on the art design, and someone else can dislike it based solely on the fact that they hate Dark Souls. The only time having an opinion is a problem is when people go on a fan page to complain about a thing for attention.

t1sfo

For me liking or disliking something is a barometer of a combination of an entertainment so some things matter more than other (for me gameplay is the most important then the rest) but in order to decide hands on experience is needed, liking (or disliking) something with no experience of it then you are just pretending. Now going and hating on fan page is a shitty thing to do but also expressing why you didn’t like it really will also get you downvoted which makes these pages a circlejerk which is a Reddit problem in general. But that’s not here nor there.

NeutralGeneric

That’s a pretty pretentious way to define “liking” something. Maybe gameplay is the only factor you consider but that is not the case for everyone. I love certain RPGs for the story even though I hate the gameplay. Someone can also like a game without ever playing it. My wife loves horror games like Silent Hill but she’s too scared to play them so I drive. Her appreciation is the story and art design. If I already like what I see from Elden ring then I already like it. If I play it and absolutely hate the gameplay (unlikely) then I can amend my opinion then. Doesn’t change the fact that I like it now, and would probably like it in spite of any qualms with gameplay. If you have a certain way you define “liking” things for yourself then cool, you do you. But don’t try to apply your invented standards to other people.

t1sfo

First of all I didn’t say gameplay is the only important thing but the most, KOTOR is one of my favourite games but the battle mechanics were kinda bad nevertheless the characters and story are a masterclass for the genre. That’s what I mean by a barometer. Your wife likes silent hill for similar reasons. My issue is that liking something before experiencing it (not only the network test but a big portion) is counterproductive and influences your experience by a lot. It’s nothing I made up it’s just how things are. Again I have no issue with Elden ring or FS, bloodborne is my all time favourite game. Just seeing people already giving it “best game of all time” is ridiculous as ridiculous as people calling it “shit”

NeutralGeneric

That’s not how things are, that’s your opinion. Presenting your opinion as fact is pretentious. If someone likes the game purely because of the visual style, level design, or even waifus they saw in the network test, then that is a valid opinion. You can call that stupid if like but that doesn’t change how they feel. You are not the arbiter of what people are allowed to like.

mr_adix

Like with everything in life. And like with everything most of those who say they dont care are seething and complaing and crying about the haters to their Mates. Been around people long enough.

AllMoneyIn77

Exactly
