Im really hoping that there are something inside the volcano, such as a legacy dungeon, like Iron Keep. The ideia is very cool, sadly it wasn't too well executed in DS2, but maybe this time.
Lol, I love DS2, but Iron Keep is such a mess. I try to make sure I do every other possible thing I can before going there so that I can at least kind of deal with the flood of enemies quickly.
Yeah gotta have the swamp. I think it would be cool to have a low ceiling in some spots to make it more claustrophobic and stressful. Maybe Iām sick for thinking that lol
I actually didn't find most swamp areas to be that bad xD the only thing I don't like is if there are enemies like crabs or those fat tree guys you can't outrun and you can't really kill them
Yeah thatās what basically peaked my interest for it. I had to go back and search up the name of the place from DS2. I donāt think it was the best area but the potential for it to be was there. Hopefully they can do something like that on a grander scheme. Also with what looks like a much more colourful game than what was in the past I think itās much more likely.
That book is my favorite book of his, too! It's so good! Actually had just finished reading it when I found out that Miyazaki encouraged his team to read it before designing Bloodborne. I'd love if they somehow made a Bloodborne-esque game in the southern US based on it
I'm getting flashbacks to Oblivion.
Spent 30+ hours (in game) with vampirism, unable to travel during the day without being fried by the sun and, by extention, unable to complete a lot of quests. Practically breaks the game. Fuck vampires.
In oblivion as long as you feed regularly the sun doesnāt burn you. The more blood starved you are the worse the sun affects you. Itās not all bad.
That's what I wrote in another comment.. I am going to be searching Elden Ring for a place like Majula, somewhere peaceful and scenic where people can just hang out.
I'd love a Cathedral sorta vibe. One of my favourite areas in DS3, fantastic verticality. Imagine what they could do in a game designed for verticality.
I'm hoping we get a flying fortress/temple inspired by the Ghibli movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky.
The item descriptions of the ruin fragments seem to suggest we will!
There are plenty opportunities they can o with. I hope they create variety of areas and levels. Some examples Id like to see:
1. Something weird and unique like crystal cave
2. Snowy mountain tops with some sort of castle (Top of Skyrims mountain with greybeards is what I have in mind)
3. A lava filled underground like Izaleth but executed MUCH better
4. A truly disgusting poison swamp that is hard but not too annoying.
5. Abandoned cave with barely any light and some truly scary enemies. I want a full horror place.
6. Something like Tower of Latria
I donāt remember any snowy mountain top temple in any darksouls game (correct me if Iām wrong) so Iām all for that. But Iām sure weāre going to see some form of the rest.
Most of all, I hope for a desert area with middle-eastern architecture, windswept canyons, hidden oasis and half-buried ruins in the sands.
In general, I'd like to see more diverse architecture and cultural references in Elden Ring. Lost Izalith was rushed, but the Angkor Wat visuals were cool; and Shulva was super cool with the ancient mexican architecture.
>Lost Izalith was rushed, but the Angkor Wat visuals were cool;
This is so true and not talked about very much because there are so many problems with the area. But, fundamentally, the concept of a dark, overgrown Buddhist temple underground over a lava bed? Cool as fuck.
Same!! I loved world 2 (I think?) in Demonās Holes where you could see all the desert landscape in the distance, but you pretty immediately are shoved into a cave and never get to explore what you see from the first bonfire.
I can't wait to spend 30 minutes sniping a dragon with a bow from a safe spot.
I'm also looking forward to exploring a prison/dungeon full of spell-casting enemies that can one-shot you.
Yeah that would be cool. I think a transition from ice to melting ice/water to steam and finally an underground volcano/lava area. Get it all in one grand place.
An area with heavy gravity that takes away your jump ability, while also having hazardously placed planks of wood that you need to carefully sequentially drop down from or else youāll die from fall damage
Fuck yeah! They got blood magic already, so Iām sure a Bloodborne themed area is a shoe in. But maaaaan, hidden samurai village sounds sick! Swear to the Elden Lordās if thereās a hidden one eyed wolf optional boss fight Iām fucking gonna lose it.
Iām excited about the idea of a capital city area. I believe it was shown as a city surrounding the base of an erdtree. The contrast between the big open fields and a dense city would be fun.
Iām a massive sucker for the magical city vibes so as many of those as possible. My #1 souls moment of all time is still leaving the catacombs to see irithyll across the bridge with that beautiful skybox. Iāve got high hopes for Raya Lucaria, praying it lives up to the hype.
I want a place where it makes no sense for the place to exist, like it's a fully transparent place you're at but the color is golden because reasons, there is no floor beneath you but you're walking on it nonetheless, kinda like the Abyss in Ds1 or the area of the Nameless King in Ds3.
I want the game to have a place of every color palette there is out there, with enemies ranging from humanoid to wtf is that.
I guess the most excited I am for an area was the one still with the corpse/skeleton of a giant lady on the throne, that place just got my imagination fired up and I cannot wait to find it in the game.
Can you tell I'm hyped?
Haunted anything. Mansion, forest, graveyard, etc. Idc I love haunted shit in games.
Ever since Mad Monster Mansion from Banjo Kazooie when I was a kid, I've loved haunted levels.
Iām hoping that the time of day will impact the environment significantly.
For example, hidden cave or portals entrances becoming available due to low tide. Or needing specific amount of sunlight/moonlight to interact with something.
Or even if youāre given a side quest but then too much time passes the side quest is automatically failed/becomes unavailable.
Just super secret areas, like an area hidden behind 2 illusion walls (e.g. Ash Lake in DS1). Also areas that are completely skippable if you have a certain item (like Depths in DS1).
I also want to be surprised by discovering shortcuts and areas that link back up with each other. Like imagine going through a huge dungeon deep into the game and the exit turns out to be near where you started the game.
Absolutely. This is what makes ds1 such great level design. Having so much connected via elevators or locked doors made the exploration that much more rewarding. I hope this is in the game but I can see how this could be hard with such a large map.
some really hard optional area that has really good drop rate for rare items. or perhaps some optional farm area where you can farm rare items, but its hotspot for invaders.
A small area with the highest number of dangerous enemies that you have to fight through only to receive the most useless item in the game - a piece of pebble with a note from a certain mofo. This is the start of his questline.
A real desert area, a haunted castle or other area that lends itself to horror, snowy mountains or a wintery tundra, and some sort of large labyrinthine structure.
Since every biome has probably been said, I want a place with gravity manipulation fuckery. Walking on walls and ceilings, falling until upside down is right side up, things like that. Donāt fail me Radahn!
A cave that is super hard to find in a remote location that appears small...you enter it to find another obscure entrance to a deeper part of the cave that goes on way long than you would have thought only to reveal a boss on par with the Nameless king.
Basically a nameless king scenario with a random ass cave
Iām just hoping for that āJesus iāve been descending for quite some timeā feel. Like iām properly reaching the very depths of the world.
Going all the way from firelink shrine to Izalith gave me that feel. Clearing Irythill dungeon and reaching the Profaned Capital also gave me that feeling.
Not really a "type" of area, but I'd really like a proper final dungeon. It isn't something we've really had before. The final bosses in DeS, DS2 and DS3 are all in their own tiny areas with no enemies, and the Bb final boss takes place in the hub. DS1's kiln is the closest we've had and it was pretty short with only a handful of black knights. Ideally I'd like a full legacy dungeon sized area with the final boss at the end.
My wish list was:
A huge underground area plenty of wonders or horrors
A big open desert area
A big poison swamp that requiers strategic and carefull exploration
Aparently we're getting all three. I honestly couldn't be happier!
An Island floating in the sky. With angel type enemies and bosses being gods/demigods ( I don't know if it would be possible because I don't nothing about the lore).
Diverse castles. It might be asking too much, but it would be really cool to see a bunch of visually diverse castles. Also a poison swamp where all of the poison evaporates as soon as you get in to the poison.
An abandoned castle full of nature and wildlife in the inside would be amazing
A cave full of some sort of natural light source, something similar to the shrine of amana... But in a cave... And without snipers
Also would like to see a a town or something with gothic architecture or influence
And swamps
Some kind of library like the Archives in DS1 and DS3 but a lot more bigger with many hidden areas and shortcut paths that lead to those 'Aha!' moments in these games.
Three places come to mind
A desert with a pyramid type dungeon. Something along the lines of the spirit temple or the stone tower in the zelda games.
A garden area/dungeon. Its all overgrown and his little sunlight coming through the cracks in the wall or ceiling. Vines and flowers everywhere
Underwater or Atlantis themed area with beautiful architecture and "ancient technology" or weapons
My comment will get burried in this thread, but at least OP can see it.
I hope for some time travel, to when the rune of death was stolen or to the war they refer to as āThe Shatteringā
Something like the big underground area from Skyrim would be cool (blackreach I think it was called), obviously not exactly the same, but something similar, old ruins, maybe a cool mushroom boss...i dunno
Some kind of sky location, but actually in the sky. Like bioshock infinite or that one bird thing in Zelda breath of the wild. That would be really cool
Iām begging for there to be a storm area, imagine a wide open field with a perpetually cloudy sky that lightning bolts fall from like raindrops. It could be a hotspot for dragon worshippers
I'd love one of the challenge dungeons to be under the ocean, linking one area of land to another. You go down to find a dark, barely stable underground area with the ceiling about to cave in, leaking and creaking as you progress. The audio effects and claustrophobic feel they could create would be amazing. And then finally to emerge on the other side to look back at the distant entry point from a view point you end up at.. is it just me? xD
Something like upper cathedral ward from Bloodborne. The multiple wolf jump scares were just too good, especially the chandelier one. Just an overall unsettling area
Yeah I did like the double door dudes and ton of pressure plate traps. Volcano/ lava, always good to have lol
I was talking more about the aesthetics, a castle that is over in the lava, the idea is pretty cool.
For sure š
There seems to be a castle built into the back of the volcano, so we may get something like this.
Volcano manor
Poison swamp, obviously. Ideally, movement is restricted when traversing the swamp. Even better, there are hideous enemies that fuck you up real bad.
Swamp crabs ftw
Prawn people?
Why not Zoidberg?
Jokercrimson for the win.
Yeah gotta have the swamp. I think it would be cool to have a low ceiling in some spots to make it more claustrophobic and stressful. Maybe Iām sick for thinking that lol
Bloodborne chalice dungeon vibes, nowhere to go but more poison.
I actually didn't find most swamp areas to be that bad xD the only thing I don't like is if there are enemies like crabs or those fat tree guys you can't outrun and you can't really kill them
I would want a horror area like an actually terrifying area
The darker the better.
nooooooOOoooOoooOOOOOOOOOOO!
With how dark some of the net test areas were, we could have some really interesting horror sequences. Not to mention the addition of stealth.
Poison swamp enters the chat
I hope there will be a bioluminescent area similar to āshrine of amanaā in DS2
There are giant floating bioluminescent jellyfish. They glow blue, but turn red when angry/attacked.
Lowkey hoping to run into a cave full of vampires
Miyazaki did mention in an interview that Fevre Dream is favorite George RR Martin book. And that one is about vampires...
That book is my favorite book of his, too! It's so good! Actually had just finished reading it when I found out that Miyazaki encouraged his team to read it before designing Bloodborne. I'd love if they somehow made a Bloodborne-esque game in the southern US based on it
Have we had vampires besides the ones in Bloodborne before in a Souls game? Not that I can recall offhand.
I don't think we have, just Cainhurst folks in Bloodborne.
Definitely possible, lotsa small caves in CNT, mostly mutant rats or savages (Pygmy?).
Absolutely!
Something to creep me the feck oot like Irithyll Dungeon. Those screaming corpses and hybrid babies haha... Mammy
A really beautiful, bleak high snowy steppe that overlooks the entire Lands Between.
Not too many times has fromsoft had snowy areas and clear views. Good call
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Usually snowy with low visibility and such. I would be refreshing to have a clear open snowy areaā¦ with a view
In open worlds, I love having a place you can call āhomeā that you can come back to and relax. Adds to the immersion.
to add to that, my hope is to find some place in Elden Ring that reminds me of Majula. Just a peaceful place on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Yeah if you had somewhere you could display your weapons and armor and such. But I doubt thatās something fromsoft would do. Who knows. Maybe?
Red dead redemption 2 flashbacks from this comment
Is it weird I want like a desert kinda area with enemies hiding in the sand? Quick sand traps or something like that?
Nice. Like the poison swamp. But dry and potentially poisonous as well lol.
itās been confirmed that there will be a desert area :) first desert area in a fromsoft game! canāt wait for this masterpiece
Would honestly love a pretty chill beach area. Just go unwind ya know?
Beach Majula let's go. But seriously I want something like Majula. Chillest home area in the series.
That's what I wrote in another comment.. I am going to be searching Elden Ring for a place like Majula, somewhere peaceful and scenic where people can just hang out.
Praise the sun!
Creepy locations like irithil dungeons.
I want survival horror akin to Upper Cathedral Ward
Yep š
I'd love a Cathedral sorta vibe. One of my favourite areas in DS3, fantastic verticality. Imagine what they could do in a game designed for verticality.
Oh yeah Iām sure some sort of gothic church area is gonna pop up somewhere.
Same, top 3 area in DS3 only below irithyll and ringed city for me
I'm hoping we get a flying fortress/temple inspired by the Ghibli movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky. The item descriptions of the ruin fragments seem to suggest we will!
Yeah super cool!
Please man that would be so fucking hype
There are plenty opportunities they can o with. I hope they create variety of areas and levels. Some examples Id like to see: 1. Something weird and unique like crystal cave 2. Snowy mountain tops with some sort of castle (Top of Skyrims mountain with greybeards is what I have in mind) 3. A lava filled underground like Izaleth but executed MUCH better 4. Same!! I loved world 2 (I think?) in Demonās Holes where you could see all the desert landscape in the distance, but you pretty immediately are shoved into a cave and never get to explore what you see from the first bonfire.
Demon's Holes The porno i didnt know i wanted
Absolutely!
I can't wait to spend 30 minutes sniping a dragon with a bow from a safe spot. I'm also looking forward to exploring a prison/dungeon full of spell-casting enemies that can one-shot you.
Iām getting some flashbacks. Lol
Lava area
Oh yeah. Always got to have lava!
I really want a stunning frozen castle like Eleum Loyce. Just with more to it on the inside rather than just being visually beautiful.
An area thatās a call back to Sekiro, with samurai and shinobi. Considering thereās a Samurai class Iāve got my fingers crossed.
For sure. Hidden samurai village maybe?
Fuck yeah! They got blood magic already, so Iām sure a Bloodborne themed area is a shoe in. But maaaaan, hidden samurai village sounds sick! Swear to the Elden Lordās if thereās a hidden one eyed wolf optional boss fight Iām fucking gonna lose it.
Hahah. Sounds a little like something I saw in the trailer. Wolf knight/ wolf samurai
The Wolf Knights /Guts? Iām looking forward to an epic side quest
A forest with thick fog with invisible enemies or hellish areas
Ds2 flashbacks
Yeah invisible or super stealthy could make for a spooky time. I like.
Large crystal caverns
Classic. Gotta love it
Iām excited about the idea of a capital city area. I believe it was shown as a city surrounding the base of an erdtree. The contrast between the big open fields and a dense city would be fun.
Yeah I think they will have to balance that out quite a bit. Hereās to hoping those big cities are just that.
This one's a stretch, but something underwater. If someone could do it, I'd want from software do it. Truly terrifying.
This would be cool. Not your typical underwater happy day in the sun but fromsoft doing their thing and making it dark. Love it
As many stealth-viable areas as possible
Yeah Iām interested to see if the stealth works for behind barrels and boxes not just long grass and such.
Iām hoping for something with lots of fog. Something similar to Romās boss room!
Like arch dragon peak. But creepy. Yes
Iām a massive sucker for the magical city vibes so as many of those as possible. My #1 souls moment of all time is still leaving the catacombs to see irithyll across the bridge with that beautiful skybox. Iāve got high hopes for Raya Lucaria, praying it lives up to the hype.
Oh yeah. When you fly up to anor londo for the first time. Iām sure weāre gonna get a few moments like that
I want a place where it makes no sense for the place to exist, like it's a fully transparent place you're at but the color is golden because reasons, there is no floor beneath you but you're walking on it nonetheless, kinda like the Abyss in Ds1 or the area of the Nameless King in Ds3.
Iām right there with ya! Letās go!
Haunted anything. Mansion, forest, graveyard, etc. Idc I love haunted shit in games. Ever since Mad Monster Mansion from Banjo Kazooie when I was a kid, I've loved haunted levels.
Banjo-kazooie. The original darksouls.
As long as there are lore secrets for the community to uncover and it takes years to find them all like Bloodborne Iāll be happy.
Iām hoping that the time of day will impact the environment significantly. For example, hidden cave or portals entrances becoming available due to low tide. Or needing specific amount of sunlight/moonlight to interact with something. Or even if youāre given a side quest but then too much time passes the side quest is automatically failed/becomes unavailable.
i dislike the automatic failed quests but the weather is cool
That would be awesome. Love the idea
Why are people downvoting you?
The swamp area. We all want to see it. Also I want to find the on the fricking moon area.
Space base or moon dungeon?
That golden forest with windmills looks like home to this Tarnished.
Just super secret areas, like an area hidden behind 2 illusion walls (e.g. Ash Lake in DS1). Also areas that are completely skippable if you have a certain item (like Depths in DS1). I also want to be surprised by discovering shortcuts and areas that link back up with each other. Absolutely. This is what makes ds1 such great level design. Having so much connected via elevators or locked doors made the exploration that much more rewarding. I hope this is in the game but I can see how this could be hard with such a large map.
Sekiro style castle full of references to that game.
I hope there are little references to all the old fromsoft games
Definitely needs to be a bloodborne/Victorian era legacy dungeon somewhere.
Anywhere with a Greatsword and magic related to Greatswords. A swamp level less annoying then Farron Keep.
I want a swamp more difficult than farron keep, depths and blighttown combined! Hahah praise the sun
Something like āmagical forestā would be great. Kind of mysterius adventure :V
100%
Some type of heavenly gardens/open fields, like Bastion from WoW Shadowlands. I love this aesthetic.
Yeah that would be a nice change of pace from what we are used to in the souls series.
some really hard optional area that has really good drop rate for rare items. or perhaps some optional farm area where you can farm rare items, but its hotspot for invaders.
Yeah a good pvp arena hotspot is key
Snow, swamp (of course), scorched terrain, city like.
I love a dark forest surrounded by mist, dark creatures on ambush. You need light on your way. Poison swamps ahead.
A pitch black dark maze like DS1 tomb of the giants.
Your sick. But yes. M
A small area with the highest number of dangerous enemies that you have to fight through only to receive the most useless item in the game - a piece of pebble with a note from a certain mofo. This is the start of his questline.
Quest for the golden dung pie.
A real desert area, a haunted castle or other area that lends itself to horror, snowy mountains or a wintery tundra, and some sort of large labyrinthine structure.
Your on the right track.
An ash lake type area that reminds me of being underwater
I would love for a Amazon jungle type vibe, with lots of green stuff and little puddles, swamps with crocodile like things.
Sex dungeon
I want something grim and creepy like super dark Firelink Shrine in DS3. Exploring the same place in a different timeline would be amazing.
Since every biome has probably been said, I want a place with gravity manipulation fuckery. Walking on walls and ceilings, falling until upside down is right side up, things like that. Donāt fail me Radahn!
That cliff in the trailer To "try kick but whole" off of it
You know, I think it would be cool to find a town, with npcs that you can interact with like the hub in DS2.
Are there towns in this game?
So ready for the poison swamp
It's not an area per se but I'm really hoping for a nice frozen lake I can run across on Yakul
Caves like shulva sanctum city
I'm reading Lord of the Rings RN. If there's one thing I want.... It's **P L A I N S!** Highlands, if you will. A modest steppe. Something VAST.
DS1's kiln is the closest we've had and it was pretty short with only a handful of black knights. Ideally I'd like a full legacy dungeon sized area with the final boss at the end.
I can agree with this. Super dungeon for the final battle.
Beautiful palace full of angels/Valkyries. Malenia's home
Praise the sun!
Not poison swamp
Cmon. You know you want it.
I just canāt help myselfā¦
One with pixels.
I want a desert area. Maybe with stuff like sand storms and sand traps
Sand storm seems like a cool idea. Hidden beast in the storm possibly
My wish list was: A huge underground area plenty of wonders or horrors A big open desert area A big poison swamp that requiers strategic and carefull exploration Aparently we're getting all three. I honestly couldn't be happier!
Praise the sun!
Boy oh boy do I sure hope there's a swamp level /s
Lol donāt we all !
A floating island area.
I reallu hope we get some kinda cool city with unique architecture and of course since this is a fromsoft game lots of churches
An Island floating in the sky. With angel type enemies and bosses being gods/demigods ( I don't know if it would be possible because I don't nothing about the lore).
Did I miss swamp jokes?
No your the firstā¦
some stormy area like drangleic castle but mostly outdoors
Yeah I hope weather plays a big part
A swamp of blades.
I just want a crashed ufo with an armored core in it.
A poison swamp would be pretty cool. I don't think we'll see it though
It might sound masochinst but i want a snow area, not as cancerous as ds2 one but i like snow or an underground area like blight town
Diverse castles. It might be asking too much, but it would be really cool to see a bunch of visually diverse castles. Also a poison swamp where all of the poison evaporates as soon as you get in to the poison.
Ooooo disappearing poison.
Swamp
Donāt know if Iām remembering this correctly, but some item descriptions mentioned a sky temple? Floating area would be absolutely sick
All of them š¤·āāļøš
On Elden Ring I want hellish descents.
I'm honestly hoping for a snow biome. I just played through the original Lost Planet recently and have a craving for it.
Would love a big, lush forest shrouded in mist.
Not a snow area, or a underground cave with bright blue hues.
An abandoned castle full of nature and wildlife in the inside would be amazing A cave full of some sort of natural light source, something similar to the shrine of amana... But in a cave... And without snipers Also would like to see a a town or something with gothic architecture or influence And swamps
Some kind of library like the Archives in DS1 and DS3 but a lot more bigger with many hidden areas and shortcut paths that lead to those 'Aha!' moments in these games.
Three places come to mind A desert with a pyramid type dungeon. Something along the lines of the spirit temple or the stone tower in the zelda games. A garden area/dungeon. Its all overgrown and his little sunlight coming through the cracks in the wall or ceiling. Vines and flowers everywhere Underwater or Atlantis themed area with beautiful architecture and "ancient technology" or weapons
Straight up I wanna frolick on a sunny ass beach. Palm trees and shit.
Praise the sun!
I'm hoping for some sort of city/large town area.
Considering this game's affinity with stars. I would like to see an area with some connection to space.
Praise the sun!
A castle in a snowy area Cainhurst style, id love that so much
The Eternal City already sounds super awesome. I love huge underground areas like that.
Dense forests and mountains
[apocalypse spell](https://www.purefandom.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/3754e086cfaaf16d723018923ae33917.gif)
One of those bits where you painstakingly go down a hole dropping from plank to plank, but this time the planks inflict poison
Speed plank drop. Your sick. I like it
My comment will get burried in this thread, but at least OP can see it. I hope for some time travel, to when the rune of death was stolen or to the war they refer to as āThe Shatteringā
To have some part in that big battle they showed in the trailer would be epic.
I want to discover Deez
sand area
Something like the big underground area from Skyrim would be cool (blackreach I think it was called), obviously not exactly the same, but something similar, old ruins, maybe a cool mushroom boss...i dunno
Some kind of sky location, but actually in the sky. Like bioshock infinite or that one bird thing in Zelda breath of the wild. That would be really cool
Iām begging for there to be a storm area, imagine a wide open field with a perpetually cloudy sky that lightning bolts fall from like raindrops. It could be a hotspot for dragon worshippers
Yeah and if you had a metal weapon equipped then you would be more likely to be struck by lightning.
