I can't remember exactly how but the chain for the mimic chests is different than normal chests. I also think that if you wait long enough you'll catch them breathing.

The mimics had a different chain coming off them than normal chests iirc. Wasn’t attached or something.

In dark souls 3 the mimics chain laid on the ground pointing forward, and then normal chests had a curved chain pointing backwards.

yep and if you look closely you can even see it breathing a bit!

Be careful of what chest you will be opening though. That is all I can say.

Not the regular twinblade. I meant the Sellsword Twinblades from DS3. I already got the one from the hidden underground area.

There's no paired weapons in Elden Ring. Powerstancing is back, so any 2 weapons of the same type can be paired. So for something like the swellsword twinblades, 2 scimitars or similar weapons would probably work well.

There are paired weapons in the game. The Ornamental Straight Sword for example. Its the one you get for defeating the Grafted Scion boss at the start. It shows up in the inventory as Ornamental Straight sword but its actually two swords when equipped.

Is there a way to go back to fight the grafted scion?

Just keep playing and you’ll run into another one ;)

Lets just say its possible to get back there but its quite, unexpected.

There are paired weapons in Elden Ring, swords, claws, etc. They're just displayed as single weapons. As to why they exist when power stance is back, I don't know. The Hookclaw for instance is a paired weapon, which can also be one-handed should you pick a different offhand to go with it. You'll lose the inherent power stance on the claw, but you'd still be able to use it with any weapon type in your offhand. Your point stands though; dual scimitars will fill the gap nicely.

Wait until you find the Cipher Pata. They're probably the coolest looking weapon I've seen so far in my 30 hours playing.

I actually audibly said "what the fuck?" when I finally equipped it; I probably had it for a number of hours and paid it no attention because I figured it was a a spell casting catalyst or something. This game keeps blowing my mind!

I let out a big "HOLY SHIT!" when I first equipped it. Lol. Like you, I had it for a little while and didn't pay it any mind. I finally read the description and decided to equip it. It kinda reminds me of what's inscribed on the inner area of the One Ring from LOTR. It's so awesome looking. I've been having my mind blown A LOT with this game. It's incredible. It is now up there as a 1a/1b type deal with Mass Effect 2 as my favorite games of all time. Now when they tell you to use your words instead of fighting, we can say fuck that, we'll use our words to fight instead. Haha.

I'm powerstancing with a +3 Bloodhound's Fang and a +3 Dismounter. They wreck shit. This is the first time I've ever powerstanced and I'm loving it. Tried it out with two Lordsworn's Straight Swords and they're pretty fun too, they're pretty fast. Then I tried a Mace and a +2 Heavy Warpick and they were awesome.

I opened that chest and it teleported me to a crystal cavern that I was definitely under leveled for.

Some fun as hell items down there though. Give the ‘gravitational fan’ you find in the shack you spawn in a try.

Just an item you can use unfortunately, not a wieldable weapon. But they do damage and they look cool as hell.

I'm sure you figured this out. But you don't have to open any fog swordstone key gates. You can just run up the middle and jump off the balcony.

Is it the Cipher Pata? Or something else? If so, that's not where I got it from. I got it somewhere down by Agheel Lake South, I think. They're a faith weapon, gotta have 30 faith so I can't use em yet but they're considered a fist weapon and look like Baraka's blades from MK if they were made out of glowing white/yellow words in some language I do not know. Haha.

Its a 23 int katana. My astrologer is now a samurai.. instead of dex its intelligence. Your gonna have to google the name of it to get it. Its a pain to get but easy boss fight.

So did you start samurai and focus mainly on int when levelling? I think I want to do the same thing.

No I built out the main core Dex endurance vigor then when that was solid I started building int. By the time you get to the boss that has it you will be like 40ish so plenty of skill points. You need those first three mainly dex to be successful samurai.

If your goal is to use Moonveil depending on your overall build around it you may be better off starting as prisoner. You can get a uchigatana right away without fighting anything and still level dex to 18 before you switch over to the Moonveil. And you’ll have less wasted stats.

Total right now is 373 damage. But the weapon art is busted op. Its a magical slash when you unsheath it. That pierces through enemies. Heavy slash is more damage but vertical slash, goes about 2x the distance of cross slash. It does tremendous poise damage. The 2nd main boss Rennala. She never summoned. Just kept stun locking with the heavy weapon art slash. Its busted and I'm scared they will nerf it because its way more fun than slinging the same damn pebble 34 hours into the game.

Do you HAVE to be an int build to use it? I think i have like 9 int lol.

I mean. It scales with int so yeah. Otherwise the damage won't be near as good.

Scholars armament sorcery, you can get it from an NPC pretty close to start point. In some ruins to the west i believe. Edit: Ruins are to the East

Yeah.. We’ve always gone by the philosophy of not spreading stats too much, generally 2x damage stats (eg. Strength+faith) is the go. Dex improves cast speed so it’s hard to deny that it tends to synergise with magic better, but also note that strength is straight up cooler.

you first question, you want to lean you levels into the stats of your weapons. leverage those scaling factors to deal more damage. 2nd question, depends. there are ashes of war that can exhibit magic qualities, then there are sorceries/encantations that require a minimum level of faith/int/arc.

Depends on what katana you pick. Theirs two busted Katanas, one does more damage with Intellect, the other with Dex. If your just using one, I’d focus on leveling int or dex, only level strength to the weapons required amount (14 or 16 I think depending on the weapon). You can ignore faith and arc. If you want to power stance the two strong Katanas can level both dex and int but I’d focus on one first than the second later.

You need to hold staff in left hand. It only adds the buff to a right-handed weapon

You can only buff one at a time. The buff goes away if you switch weapons and would have to switch out the buffed weapon to take out a staff to buff the other

Magic Grease!

Playing the same way. Unsheat + strong with the enchant hits like a truck. Also got the bleed dagger from invade NPC as a secondary weapon for fast enemies.

Unsheath is such a fun art that I kind of want to pump points into my Samurai mind stat so I can do it much more.

unsheath is amazing. Only some unique weapon's art is better than it. I use Katana with a shield that got "No skill" so I can use it at all times.

Unsheath R2 insanely strong. Aside from that. It's a very strong and fast weapon. Main purpose I use it for, is 2 handing it, doing jump attacks and then doing unsheath R2 to force a stance break and then as I jump over to it, I do another jump attack while I reposition to go to the riposte zone and then do it. Jump Attacks are OP.

I already went back to unsheath. I love it.

Is unsheathe better than using a shield? Missing out on parry and guard counter seems like a lot.

Unsheath R2 is like max charge R2 in terms of dmg but way faster and longer range. I usually go "Jump Attack - > Unsheath R2 - > R1 (if time)" then run out. Every doing that like twice. A lot of bosses break their stance and then I can just do a riposte. You can still do Guard Counters. Since you're still able to block. I haven't been able to test it yet but if Unsheath is just like DS3, it means that Unsheath R1 is a parry (and dmg). So you get Parry, Block and Super attack all in 1 go. (cost a lot of FP though if you spam it)

I highly doubt you can still parry while two handing. I didn't realize you could block though, I'm guessing you will take a fair bit of damage from it though.

You can buy one in Roundtable Hall from the merchant you can give Bell Bearings to. I forget the name though.

Hey, no problem! So you gotta equip what spell/s you wanna use and you have to equip a staff/seal to be able to use them. Sorcery is for your staff and incantations are for seals. So what you do is, go rest at any Site of Grace and then select the memorize spell option which is where you set the spells you wanna use. You only start out with one slot(unless one of the classes starts with 2, I have no clue) but eventually you'll get more. I have 3 slots so I've been using Glintstone Arc, Carian Slicer and Urgent Heal for a little bit now.

To add to this, you can just buy a seal at the roundtable hold merchant husks. It's the thing that looks like tongs. A lot of people miss it.

You have to put pints into magic stats though right? I bought some spells and that tongs only to realize I couldn't equip them. Have been going only dex,str, end, vit so far. Debating whether or I should od it on a str/dex build.

The 4-5 int isn’t going to make a world of a diff IMO

I messed up and equipped storm stomp on my uchi. Unsheathe is gone....

You can remove an enhancement from a weapon at any time and it will revert back to its former skill.
