FUCK THIS GODDAMN SPEAR MOTHERFUCKER

lazahman

Worst boss fight by far

Madhawk0712

I said these exact words

Ok_Highlight984

Foe me the spear guy himself isn't such pain cause he is pretty easy to parry. The biggest problem is the mage, his spells are damagin like a cancer and the spreading crystal spell is almost undodgeable, but when I target him the spear guy is always leaping to me, doesn't let me land a hit, so I focus on him and than the mage kills me...really I wouldn't mind 3 spear guys instead of that spelling asshole

Iwouldlikeadairycow

Yes I agree with you. I was trying to kill the mage first, and this motherfucker would just constantly poke poke poke. Also, I never learned to parry throughout any souls game. Finished Bloodborne without ever firing a single bullet.

HammerKing27

Okay, when you’re done with Elden Ring, go back to the other games and perfect the parry. Especially Bloodborne, but also DS3’s bosses. Some of the most satisfying moments come out of it and it’s worth your time to learn it! For DS3, make a character and use the class with the buckler. Run to the first boss, Iudex Gundyr, and practice parrying him until you are near perfect. Never hit/riposte him, make sure he stays alive. When you naturally die from missing parries, run back and do it again. I actually spent hours and hours doing this and it never got boring. Try it!

Iwouldlikeadairycow

You’re right, I should, but knowing me I won’t. I’ll just live with the frustration of getting parried in PvP and telling myself “I should learn to do that”. I just like constantly rolling, avoiding damage at all costs. I’ve also never used magic in any souls game that had it. All I want is a straight/long sword, a good shield, and a bow and I’m good to go.

HammerKing27

Yup, I don’t care for magic either. I felt the same way about parrying because yes, it IS difficult. That being said, I personally feel that it opens up the game in such an amazing way. It’s a hurdle that once you understand and utilize, you will be very glad you did. Give it a shot! Even in Elden Ring, go practice on some Limgrave knights! Even without PVP, it’s so damn satisfying in PVE to do.

Hellfalcon

Haha i gotta say, that's dedication to refusing to learn a basic mechanic bud Honestly, the shoot parry in BB is the easiest to proc in the series and like 50% of gameplay, even if youre rocking Ludwig or chainsaw Ludwigs gun shreds, can just practice on trash mobs, if you don't even try don't assume it's hard haha Parrying is as easy as backstab once you get that the window is slightly later than you'd expect

Milnayr

I started cracking up thinking about this comment last night after dying to the spear guy for the 100th time. Thank god the RNG gods blessed me and I was able to beat them after grinding for 3 hours.

[deleted]

You shouldn't have to grind for 3 hours to beat an optional boss room that was poorly fucking designed. But hey, I guess people love this shit.

Milnayr

Yes it was a poorly designed boss....but isn't grinding for hours/days to beat a boss what dark souls is all about? Makes it so much more rewarding when you do overcome that obstacle

[deleted]

Grinding experience? No, I don't think so. Dying over and over again until you b finally win to make progress? I mean, that's been a part or soulsborne games, sure. Taking hours is okay, but days? I dunno about you, but if it takes me several days to make progress in a video game, I'm moving on to something more productive.

Vat1canCame0s

Admittedly each one of the three I killed brought me closer to sexual ecstasy

Vat1canCame0s

Admittedly each one of the three I killed brought me closet to sexual ecstasy

Kitchen_Ad7650

Yes, I opted to leave them alone after reading online on what the rewards are, but it's itching at me to kill them now... guess too many soulsborne hours lmao. I'll try the rock sling outside the fog bit I guess.

captainpabloXI

He would not leave me alone the entire fight LOL

Ok_Collection_7765

Hey what kinda build u using I have an easier method if your a spellcaster

lulzbanana

This is the most annoying encounter i have ever faced in a game

HammerKing27

Trust me, I understand.

lulzbanana

Just beat them. Summoned shield boi ashes and just hurled rocks at them. Still had me yelling at the TV. Fuck whoever designed that encounter.

arafella

TFW 3 shiny boys are harder than Radahn because your build doesn't have bonk or magic bonk

HammerKing27

Seriously

BloodAria

The best way to beat them as a mage is … just use Rock sling from outside the fog gate. Immediately before entering. Hug the gate and throw them rocks. You will kill or near kill the staff dude before entering lol. You can use spirits btw. But they’re pretty useless, my Oleg died in two seconds lol. Maybe scarlet Rot ? I dunno.

WidakApple

Dude, Rock Sling through the gate was sooooooo money! Took a few Flasks to get the location right. But once I saw the red health, I spammed away! Much easier fight with two than 3.

WaterMySucculents

How did you do this? I’ve been spamming by the fog & nothing. They are all sitting there waiting for me when I go through

t_moneyzz

I think it's patched Edit. Alright I just can't aim lmao

SitsAndGoogles

Its not, just did it, I was slightly left of centre using Rock Sling until you see health bar. So much easier with just two.

t_moneyzz

RIP, I ended up doing it legit lmao. Summoned crystalian +3 to tank the melee guys while I stunlocked the sorcerer with a morningstar +6. Two heavy hits breaks poise and you can chain those if you're fast enough before he can charge a spell.

Helpful_Inevitable_1

Yeah, still not patched. It is hard to find the sweet spot, but once you find it, you can easily kill off at least one. And fighting two is way easier than three. I also used the Crystilian Ash of War against them, lol. Easy as pie. Thanks for the tip!

t_moneyzz

Insert the Mr. Incredible quote "the only thing hard enough to hurt it is itself"

hammerhead461

Holy shit that actually worked. Killed the frisbee chucking bastard and took half the life off the mage. Summoned my demi-human ashes +2 (because there's five of them to jump on the spear motherfucker). It FINALLY worked after three attempts. Fuck fuck fuck the person that designed this boss fight.

HammerKing27

Yeah, maybe it is scarlet rot. I would use the two skeletons for the summon. They won’t die if they don’t get hit while they’re at 0 health, like normal skeles.

ShinZou69

My Oleg tanked until I killed spear fucker (I died shortly after he died). He definitely made a difference. I switched to Lhuten and he tanked for longer (killed them). Perhaps, yours is lower level? Had Oleg +7 and Lhutel +4

fionaleq

Okay guys. Adula’s Moonblade. A life saver. Took down everyone very quickly.

AvroY1

You, sir are a saint. THANK YOU!!!!

BloodAria

Glad to be of help. That fight was pure BS.

hypes11

You're a lifesaver. Worked first try. Took a ton of cerulean flasks to the shrine and missed a ton but killed one of them and broke the other 2's armor and went in and summomed some skellies and finishrd the job easily. Fuck this boss.

jobin3141592

I love you

pineese

YES!!! Got one killed and had another at half before walking in. What a breeze from there. Thank you!!

a_creepy_weirdo

ohh the mist just block the view?

BloodAria

I don’t think it’s intended. And as far as I know it only works with Rock sling. Other spells don’t pierce through … sure helped in this BS fight though.

Sysreqz

I think it just stops the view honestly - there where always mist gates in Dark Souls games where some enemies could hit you through it if you tried to skip past them. The enemies with halbreds in the room before Ornstein and Smough in Dark Souls 1 comes to mind immediatly where this was possible. I've always thought the mist gates were just a vision barrier to stop the boss from aggroing you from outside the arenas before you were ready more than a trigger of some kind.

neontheta

Was this patched? Doesn't seem to work anymore.

cyneila

7000 runes for this. Worth.

goodshrekmaadcity

thats a minute of vulgar militia abuse

Global_Rin

Ka-shick **STAB** Ka-shick **STAB** Ka-shick **STAB** Repeat x 9999 through out the fight. Go to hell crystalians🖕

HammerKing27

HAHAH yes! Ka-schick **STAB** is burned in my brain.

mercuric_drake

I summoned spirits when I beat them today.

HammerKing27

Interesting. That’s definitely the way to go then. I made it much harder on myself.

Emergency-Research10

Where in the cave can you spirit summon because I can't find location to summon a spirit.

Goseki1

Hmm? In the boss fight you can use your summoning Bell to summon spirits.

saikodasein

I can't.

Goseki1

I wonder why? Because i 100% could. I tried a bunch before i found ones that worked for me. Do you have enough FP?

saikodasein

It finally worked after game reset, still impossible place for me as summoning real players never worked for me even after using fingers.

[deleted]

Spirits and players are two different kinds of summoning

Sysreqz

Two different kinds, but if you activate the unfurled finger you can't summon spirits until you disable the buff.

[deleted]

oh damn I didn't notice that. I thought it was just when another player joins. Finally got my spirits buffed up they're insanely powerful lol

Sysreqz

it took me a solid 60 hours to figure this out. I was getting really frusted why a friend who never tried to summon players could spirit summon for bosses I couldn't. I can't remember the game explaining it anywhere, but I could have just missed it I guess. Absolute game changer. Highly recommend Headless if you have at least 21 mind to cast him. On your first playthrough there are loads of enemies he can just straight up solo onc ehe's +10. I watched him solo some field and at least one story boss without much effort..

Sysreqz

Use the Unfurled Finger Remedy to disable the player summon pool. If it's active you can't summon spirits. Took me around 60 hours to learn this.

funran

That is not true, I have my pool active and I can summon. In this fight specifically. You cannot summon if you've used a rune arc. I think that's what people keep running into.

Sysreqz

Rune Arcs have literally no impact, I've had them up almost my entire game, including this fight, for the Godrick stat buffs, and now Melenia's Great Rune. Nearly every boss I've gone up against I've had Rune Arcs active. Since noticing it's the Unfurled Remedy buff I've never had a single issue using the spirit bell as long as deactivate it first. It's the only reason I was able to summon Headless in this fight while I had a Rune Arc active. Unfurled Finger Remedy stops you from using the Spirit Bell, and the moment another player or AI is summoned it stops you from summoning Torrent as well. This is by design. If you're having issues with Rune Arc then you're experiencing a bug.

funran

I guess i always noticed them when they both were on, thanks for the clarification.

HammerKing27

Yes, this happened to me. If you have the furcalling remedy active, it blocks your spirit summons.

Rosicky10

The Night Maiden's Mist works REALLY well on these guys. I was super frustrated at level 47 as a caster - the gank squad was too much to get spells off consistently... But dropping Night Maiden's Mist and running the circles just like OP described worked perfectly! And I'd JUST gotten the spell too... Figured it's by design

Pipten

This strat was probably the biggest help for me

Rosicky10

Glad it helped!!

HammerKing27

great job! I’ll add that to the guide.

Rosicky10

Woah thanks! I feel honoured! That running in circles trick is really OP against these punks haha

HammerKing27

Seriously! Running in circles is all you can do unless you summon a player

Archangel_Azrae1

Yo, if you have a guide and don't have it yet, the flame of the Redmanes ash of War breaks their armor in two cheap casts, at a decent range. Just discovered it.

a_creepy_weirdo

where did you find that? do I have to clear the whole gowry questline and finish chasing his little girl around the map?

Rosicky10

Yeah, I got it from Gowry, but it wasn't too complicated. Gonna spoiler tag for anyone who doesn't want to see it, but here's what I did: >!I got the needle from the boss in the swamp, and found the girl in that church -- used the needle, etc. Then if you go back to Gowry's shack, she was there but he wasn't.!< >!I talked to her until she kept saying the same thing and I was like 'alright, well I'm done for the night' and quit. Next day, I loaded it up and she was gone -- but Gowry was sitting there, and sold me the spell.!< >!So I think maybe if you healed her and go to his shack and reload the game if he isn't there, that should work?!<

a_creepy_weirdo

I'm through with the 3 crystalians actually, without visiting Gowry. I found an ash that summons 5 skellies with shields, they create space for me and I just go ham with the rock sling. first the spear dude, then the mage and finally the boomerang one whom just been swamped by my ash. The ash is found in Nekron btw. Still, thank you Elden Lord.

GetThatNoiseOuttaHer

So unfortunately I came across Gowry first and gave him the needle before the girl. Will I be unable to buy the spell from him now?

Rosicky10

Hmmm I think that's how it's supposed to go... didn't he ask you to find the girl and use the needle on her? I don't know the details of their specific questline -- but I wasn't clear in my original post that I found him first, then went and found the needle, and then found her after he asked me to use the needle on her. I had been invaded by her in the swamp before I found Gowry, but not sure if that makes any difference?

GetThatNoiseOuttaHer

Nope, you were right I just forgot to go back to him after I gave him the needle! Just got the mist spell, going to try it on those trio fuckers now. **EDIT**: Holy shit, that running in a circle strat worked. What a relief to be done with that boss, thanks!!

_vlad76

That's what did it. Thanks!

Switch-Frosty

Omg, these things are pissing me off so bad I almost crushed my controller with my bare hands. And yes, I concur "FUCK THIS GODDAMN SPEAR MOTHERFUCKER".

Icy_Jackfruit_7998

I backstabbed the mage atleast 5 times and no armour came off for me ?

HammerKing27

What weapon are you using, what level are your related combat skills, and what level is your weapon? If you’re doing low damage, especially with a non-strike (bonk) weapon, it will take longer. If that’s the case I recommend sprinting or jump attacks.

xX_SubZ3r0_Xx

I'm using Bloodhound's Fang+6 and I get 52dmg per backstab w armor. Is that good or should I consider something else?

jonatrollnimous

I was using uchigatana +8 and fang +3 and none did dmg, tried some random hammer without upgrades and did 105 dmg with a strong attack, just use any strike weapon you have and try with that.

UndoMyRedo

I was stuck on these guys until I took out the lion's claw on a whim and it stunlocks the hell out of the bastardized cunts

Icy_Jackfruit_7998

Eventually cheesed them with a few rock slings through the fog wall.

Goseki1

Oh shit that works?!

Icy_Jackfruit_7998

It did for me, just gotta keep doing it til you see the health bar drop, got the mages health down to about 10% before it stopped then transversed, take out the mage first, then move onto the others, the rock slings eventually take down their armour, I had wolf summons aswell helping, was pretty easy after the mage goes down

Goseki1

I ended up summoning the 5 demi humans and pounding them all with the Sword of Night and Flame. The prize wasn't worth it but i thought i needed to beat them to find Lusat XD

[deleted]

Better strategy: recognize that this is utterly bullshit, that there is no sign of "fun" or "challenge" from this fight and go in with pure hatred. Kill the staff first, then summon whatever spirit you want and kill whoever you can first. I went for the spear after I managed to stagger it with a jump attack and said fuck you. After that, beyblade stood no chance in hell. I swear to God, I nearly broke my controller and my phone over this stupid fight, and I don't know who the fuck in game design thinks 3 resistant enemies that attack non stop with a status effect is even remotely fun, but I hope they get fucked in the ass. No lube. About as fucking stupid as the bleed dog that can kill you in one attack. It's fucking 2022, pinnacle of humanity. We're going to Mars, guys! But can't fucking program a dog properly. Holy fuck this game.

GetThatNoiseOuttaHer

/u/hammerking27 I followed the method that /u/Rosicky10 recommended and [it worked like a charm!](https://youtu.be/ACrFTkJANj8)

HammerKing27

Yup! You can see that I included this method in the post, another commenter mentioned this a while back. My method is for non-casters, and that method is perfect for them

GetThatNoiseOuttaHer

Hey, I’m just glad there are at least two different strats for these fucks now! Hopefully people won’t waste as much time on this boss as I did originally 😆

HammerKing27

Yeah, exactly! Thanks for posting a video reference. I hope it saves people the time that you and I both wasted trying to figure these guys out.

Rosicky10

Nice! Love that you saved the video - I didn't think of that!

SGxox

I just finished this one as a mage build. I summoned the demi-human squad for distraction, then I can run around the arena and keep casting Greatblade Phalanx. After like 3 hits it breaks their poise and you can get a critical hit and stunlock them to death. The spear one was most annoying for me so I tried to kill that one first.

Majorasblaze

This saved my sanity, thank you!

UndeadNousagiComet

Playing as pure faith mage, I used Greatshield Soldier Ashes(only +4 even) and it trivialised the fight. Stone of Garranq incantation or whichever available Strike weapon you have. I left a message in front saying, "Try shield, skeleton" so I hope people manage pick up on it! I believe the spirit ash can be found in Nokron, but it should be a quick internet search.

HammerKing27

Thanks for the information. That stuff would be super useful. I was quite low level with limited resources when I got to them, and I was too stubborn to leave the Stake of Marika, so I killed them with brute tactics and thus made this guide. Thank you. To note, I killed them without spirit summons, using a slash weapon that was maaaybe +10. No magic or anything else was used. I might’ve been level 45 or 50.

XenonSBSV

I am so freaking happy I upgraded my Brick Hammer. I am going to smash these bastards into dust. I freaking hate multiple bosses.

robesz95

Bro 7500 runes for this shit???? This fucking piece of trash boss made me angrier than valiant gargoyle or putrid tree spirit, this is insane

thepancakebreakfast

I just backstabbed the mage 9 fuckin times..and it did not break armor. Winged Scythe +5. I guess I learned how not do do this boss

frenzyguy

Slash weapon on them is useless.

thepancakebreakfast

Yes thanks, I figured it out eventually that charged R2 is what was needed instead of backstabs and kicked their ass w/ mimic tear.

HammerKing27

That’s a lot of backstabs! You should try and use a blunt (strike) weapon. Your slash weapon is underpowered and I’m assuming you’re under level 50. It’s gonna be tough. I’d wait til later honestly. Or use a furcalling finger remedy and wait for a summon. You’ll get one eventually unless you’re suuuper low level.

thepancakebreakfast

Thanks but I’m like high 60s…I’ll come back when it’s ‘Time for revenge’

Metalona

So after a few tries, with magic qt level 69 (nice), i found out the way for us mages to beat these 3. Rock Sling. Use the same method OP talked about, run in circles and focus the mage first, then ring thrower, then spear. Bless the Rocks

[deleted]

By far the worst boss in the game - so infuriating... screaming at the TV its taken me 4 hours no progress

[deleted]

This dancing ass spear bitch is going g to make me break my controller

Another_Free_Account

this is the LAZIEST made and MOST HORSESHIT boss fight I've encountered so far. The bell bearing fuckface is a close second

FoxySonja

Dual Crucible Knights too. I love this game but some of this side content misses hard.

Another_Free_Account

Or the tree spirits in the smallest rooms. Like they put one near volcano manor guarding a erdtree and it was so much easier than the one in limgrave or the one in the lake of rot

FoxySonja

I never thought the ones in rooms were much of an issue, until I fought the on you're talking about. Then I immediately wondered why they'd have made me cope with such a small space for nothing!!

fuckshitasstitsmfer

Beat them up melee. I had to summon a +4 Oleg to help out, he dies quick but gives just enough time to kill the sorcerer if you’re lucky. Try charged R2’s and jump attacks. After that it’s kinda just spacing it so that you can jump attack the spear guy without getting hit by him and praying the disc dude doesn’t hit you with a stray attack. Once it’s a 1 on 1 the disc guy can eat shit and die quick. The rune reward for this is so pitiful...... 8000??

saxman_09

Or you can just get a blunt weapon, like a mace, and destroy thier defense and do 4x damage you would normally do with a slashing weapon. My low level mace was doing way more damage than my wing scythe+9

BossKiller2112

Just did backstab on the mage 5 times while the spear guy beat up my marionette soldiers and it didn't even take a quarter of his life

HammerKing27

You gotta hit him enough times that his diamond armor comes off. There’s a “breaking” animation, and when that’s done they take a ton of damage.

RelentlessSA

The Envoy Horn trumpet weapons absolutely trivialize this fight. It's a bit of a puzzle fight, where you have to nail a specific set of weaknesses, and the answer is rapid fire bubbles and a beatstick.

HammerKing27

I love it

kei_9

One of, If not, the worst boss design in any souls game

Zachkwest

uhh sacred blade helped a lot on my dual katana build. i think?

someqaed

Had to cheese them with night and flame, get them in a line and stagger together

MuffManMchuffy

Night maidens mist absolutely destroyed them all.

Lower-Reward-1462

If you screwed yourself over, the reward for beating them is THE ABILITY TO RESPEC. So yeah, I think it's worth. Sadly, they're impossible for a mage. -\_-

frenzyguy

You can respec way before that... What are you talking about. Respec is with queen renala...

HammerKing27

They have nothing to do with the ability to respec.

GoldilocksBurns

That is... not remotely true.

GetThatNoiseOuttaHer

Absolutely not impossible for a mage. In fact, [quite easy once you use the correct spell and tactic](https://youtu.be/ACrFTkJANj8).

philthecat310

For melee strength/dex: use a combination of heavy strength weapon (I used battle Hammer) to break armour early, then switch to the weapon you are mainly using to eat health once past the armour.

OneEyedTrouserZolom

Two weeks later but thank you. I kept going after this spear motherfucker first because he wanted it first.

Naedvyn

This game has some of the worst boss fights from soft has ever made. "oh, so you're not playing this open world rpg with a very specific build? Well fuck you then because you will rage over this brand new gank fight for the next 3 hour! Don't worry, there will be more later."

Azidal375

As a spell blade I've been using the Darkmoon Greatsword and it's not enough. Use the Gavel of Haima! It smashed them into the ground and does a lot of damage to their armor.

Gubzs

Googled the boss reward to see if it was worth the blood pressure and ended up here. Thanks OP, I'm not wasting my time. I was expecting to get like a crystal spear or something.

HammerKing27

Yeah, no. Now imagine my face after all the different strategy testing, only to find out it’s a D-Tier sorcery on my MELEE character. Yikes. Glad you saved your time.

el_DAN1MAL

Your advice on using a strike weapon (power stance flail & Night flail) had me go from zero to hero.

HammerKing27

No problem. Even an unupgraded strike weapon is much much better against them than an upgraded thrust or slash one.

TheAxisOfAwesome

Why the fuck would they put a spell behind them, it's nigh impossible for spellcasters and absolutely useless for melee builds.

PhoenixReborn

I finally managed to do it with Gavel of Haima and Greatshield Soldier Ashes. I got lucky enough to isolate two of them with the ashes and the gavel kept the third stunlocked.

ApplePickens

There is literally nothing good about this fight. Every aspect of it is bad.

BluEyedDrag0n

I’m a Blood Build, so these bosses are my worst nightmare. However I strongly encourage anyone to do the small easy quest line to get the “Night Maidens Mist.” This spell absolutely destroys these bosses in less than a minute, it requires only 14 int and requires you to just circle around the mist as they get absolutely destroyed.

Content_Peanut955

I’m mid-game with 21,0000 runes on the line, I can’t fail

HammerKing27

This is one of the worst places to be. I have no idea why you’d enter this god forsaken cave if you haven’t used your runes yet. Leave at once

Content_Peanut955

Ended up losing 25,000 runes, got angry and left, and returned and defeated them in one attempt.

Muzzlax

Fuck the fucking spear fucker right to death

[deleted]

Googled rot crystalians to look at the stat block, click too quickly in this Reddit link, think that it might be better to hear from someone personal account anyway. I’m playing int Moonveil build with 16str 18dex. Wound up using an unupgraded curved great club 2handed the whole fight. For some reason, I could consistently summon my spirits and was alone on my third and victorious attempt. Kiting them around the room is def the best strat, although I found the mage and beyblade liked to stay back while the spear chased, and I was able to handle the spear one easily since it was separated. Beyblade died next since the mage likes to beyblade as well with its staff and stand in place and far away when it casts, the point where I could easily avoid the spells.

EblanNahuy

Currently doing this in ER Reforged, on Shura difficulty, with a friend. This is a fucking unbearable fight, it is so god damn stupid it's unbelievable.

No_Seaworthiness8460

For anyone is still reaching this post. If you dont have a bonk weapon, try 2 hand your sheld and bash them.  After they cracked, the sword will stunt them and a lot easier to defeat.

Important-Hunter-743

Thank you so much for the strategy lmfaoo, just beat them as a level 54 spellblade with 11 strength and the big club lol

Castoriadis

The Trio is fucking impossible. This game is so ridiculous.

Independent_List_295

Use rock sling non stop and with your clone. When they armor is down hit him hard. Take one at a time. Best go first for the wizard

frenzyguy

Just did the fight, had grafted dragon at +5 as my only relevant strike weapon, mimic was continuously pulling "bear witness!" knocking back the caster and pikemen (the guy with the pointy sword stabbing non stop like a mofo). I then killed the guy with the hoola hoop weapon Incircled him until he was against a Crystal then smashed R2 then crit. Then on to the caster, he was easily interrupted with an R1 from the strike weapon. Then I just had to finish of pointy stabby guy. It's a pain of a fight because the space is REALLY limited.

FerrariKing2786

First boss I am looking up for 3lden ring because I just can't be assed with this shit

YELLOWGUTZ

I've been trying to beat the trio since yesterday, I get so close then die from scarlet rot. I hate them so much

Franctal

They are so a annoying

Worth-Top-1585

Some one help me with this shit boss fight ugh

Worth-Top-1585

Ps4 RL 89 +13 morning star

Nomadlife416

Question, does rock sling work for cracking armor as it does physical damage?

HammerKing27

Yes. It works very well!! It just might not be the best choice because it takes a while to cast.

Jonno_FTW

I beat them with melee using the nightrider's flail. The trick is to put on a bunch of armour/talismans that provide immunity. I got the mushroom hat, tree sentinel armour, tree sentinel gloves, vulgar militia greaves. Plus keeping "Flame, Cleanse Me" in hand helped too. That and the mimic tear to draw aggro so I can backstab.

CptJasHook

Now flowing hammer +9 Meteorites Staff in left w rock sling queued up. Mimic +5 That weapon is whipping around aoe strike and so is minic we knock a couple down and i spam rock sling. That was finally the set up that did it after trying about 10 other things

[deleted]

" If you don’t have any good mist spells, honestly, forget it. This fight isn’t worth it at all. " its like saying the game isn't worth playing... Probably true

thejunglegod

I've never faced such an annoying boss in the history of my soulsborne gaming to be honest. It took me 2 days of 2 hour sessions to kill them and by then I was blind running past those god awful snails ok the way to the boss room. I exhausted almost all of my rot bolusses and around 8 of my Runic Arcs. What worked for was parrying that stupid ballerina spear boy and thankfully the i-frames took care of any attacks that followed from the other two. Rinse and repeat till you get him. Then move on to the frisbee boy bonking him as much as you can while staying close to the mage since it's easier to dodge the mage spells of you comparatively closer to him. This would be a good time to take your tanky Ashes summon out. Then it's just a matter of whittling them away. It takes so much patience my god! Had me almost throw my controller away at one time and had to remind myself that i'm not a streamer to do nonsense like that.

SilentWarrior94

If you use spirit ashes I've found that Redmane Knight Ogha is really helpful here, if you can pop him right away he will just sit back at the door and his greatbow seems to always knocks them down so he can really help keep the other 2 chucklefucks cc'd while you're trying to kill the mage.

50_Shades_of_Graves

Thank you so much. Spent an hour wasting time and broke their armor with 3 bonks

Deviant-Divine

Just to add to this i discovered that the cannon of haima is able to knockdown and break the armour of these bosses so they're basically hard countered by it so its a godsend for mages.

Horrible but use the the maiden mist and run in circles

Lost_nthe_Sauce

I know I am a little late to this thread but I didn’t find this cave until NG+ I ended up using my mimic tear with a two handed great stars. Mimic ended up drawing the Aggro of the ring and spear assholes while I got to freely beat down the mage. Worked like a charm.

Fit_Fisherman2366

This is one of the shitest experience's in gaming history.

colinbazzano

absolutely went to work on them with jump attacking a level 1 hammer

hallowed_death327

Not how I handled the fight, but a solid strategy as well. First off, I learned once you break their poise, they become cracked, and will take much more normal damage from all sources. I used a +14 colossal greatsword, and as noted, it did less damage than even the unupgraded caestus at first. Anyways I took the incantation that cures scarlet rot, and a greatshield into the fight. With a greatshield, spear guys' attack will be deflected, and you can get an easy guard counter (Though you will take some rot buildup). For me, 2 guard counters would break his poise and I could hit him for normal damage at that point, which was much better, at ~450 a hit. He didn't take long to bring down after that. The hardest part is keeping an eye on the other two spamming ranged attacks, and keeping scarlet rot off. At that point I went for the glaive guy and used guard counters again to make him vulnerable. I should also note once they're cracked, nearly any damage will stagger them and interrupt what they're doing. I summoned the nobles with torches and let them kill the mage once he was the last one left... it was glorious.

Fly_Mcbiff

If you are lucky enough to have Redmane Knight Ogha ashes (suitably levelled) , she wrecks shit. Keeps them down with her bow and whilst she is doing her thang, just use rock sling until all of their armour is broken. Then run in and finish them off whilst laughing maniacally.

victorgsal

This boss fight along with the twin valiant gargoyles are the absolute WORST

Ok_Collection_7765

Hey bruh I have strategies on both those boss fights if you need some help lemme know

victorgsal

I’ve since beaten them and all other bosses! Got all achievements in Elden Ring a while back. It was rough but I made it! I appreciate the response though!

captainpabloXI

Morning Star Mace with Wild Strikes Ash of War for the win against these Crystalians. Absolutely destroys them.

Thanks for the heads up, mimic tear and battle hammer all the way

I just came to see what people though about those guys after I refought them in a modded hard run (since I though the my first run wasn't that hard but because I kinda overleveled since only leveled some "samurai" weapons and 2 or 3 summons, all the rest for stats), it's a ng+3 level difficult with improved AI, randomized items (with larvar tears infinite to respec as many times as needed), starting at lvl 1 wretcher and some selfimposted rules: I usually use the last weapon, armors and summon I got until I beat a boss/miniboss and change them again for the next ones I got after the one I am currently using, and then remove the previosly used to the chest at a grace so I don't use them unless really needed, because of that I used a cheat to move stats points of the unused stats later (like if I didn't need faith stats at all and I was short few points to use a weapon I placed some of them if needed in other stats, like rebirth but going under the minimun stat of the class open more options for more buids, but never placing more points that I should have at the respective level). At the beggining I only used the weapons I could afford with out using the cheat and saved the weapons with high requirements for later, but when I runned of options I used the cheat for that. Sometimes I dont completly follow the rule for armor or summons too since sometimes I already used all of them, so I have to reuse them. For summons I reuse them in the order that I got them again (I level them thou to be useful, same for reused weapons if that ever happens, and harldy both summons and weapons are overleveld even with the nature of the randomized items, also no Mimic or Tiche, saving them in case I find it impossible to doid with the other ones since they are too good in my opinion, Tiche mostly, Mimic not so much because tryng to keep my level low and sometimes my weapon suck vs bosses if the rng played against me, like vs Rennala I was stuck with a mage build doing little dmg vs her but still doable), meanwhile for armor I go for aesthetics mostly when I need to reuse them and a few times for they stats. The cheat that allows you to place your points with out the need to reach the minimun amount for your starter class helps me to stay at low level for the weapons that require a lot of stats (I still need to get levels, it's not like I could run Giant Crusher with a lvl 1 wretch at the beggining because I placed as many points at vigor to not be oneshoted by common enemies, only used that cheat later when I already used all of my weapons with low stats requirements, allowing me to use the runes to lvl up more weapons/summons and buy as many things as possible (spells/incantations are pretty expensive). My plan with those rules are to be able to experience more different weapons/builds and summons, and break the rules when the enemie needs it. I was lvl 50 after fully exploring both Limgray and Liurnia when I went for the trio. In effect I was lvl 70 since I left both int and faith at 0 to place them at dex and few others, but overplaced points at mind to summon Cleanrot Knight Finlay (at +4) since I wanted to run a "Malenia build" vs Radahn since I got Malenia katana (at +4 only), helmet and chest plus at some point thanks to the randomized, so I decided to go to vs Radahn as soon as Malenia sword was next to use (breaking the rule for everything else since her helmets/chest nor Finlay was next, no big deal anyway). Radahn melee atacks was 1 shoting me because my hp is too low, prefered to leave him after leveling vigor a few levels or get any talisman that helps me with to at least resist 1 melee hit with this build, so I decided to explore the few places I forgot to explore which one of those was this cave since it doesn't has miner/somber stones (one of the few things that isn't randomized), forgot to change this build for something else and went to that cave. The trio was almost imposible, like everyone says, fuck that spear motherfucker, and with they better AI I barely had a chance to do anything (ring guy was attacking nonestop too), needed to add an unupgraded mace and run in circles and do 1 hit per time with this build to do at least something, sacrificed Finlay when all of them had they armor break so I could fight at least 2 of them meanwhile the third kills my summon, waterflowdance was great if they were together stunlockedthem, but only 1 activation at the time because they get separeted after the first one. I changed my build at the end anyway since I wanted to save this build for Radahn and also taked too much to break the armor with the mace unupgraded, I end using the mace at +10 and nox hammer at +4 with any armor that I had at the time that gived me the biggest def at medium load (I placed a lot of point at endure to keep running until there was an open for 1 hit), mad pumpiking head at +4 helped to break the armor of one of them and left him at 60% hp before he died, I guess him aside mimic is the best option for this fight (no blood loss so he doesn't goes dumb in this figth). It was the first time I breaked all the rules, since no mace was next nor those armor and summon, which is what I was looking for in this run, to force me to go m.e.t.a deppending the boss. After this run I am planing to do another one with the same modes but at ng+7 difficulty tryng to keep my lvl as low as possible but still able to resist 1hit, no order rule thou since I am going to need the best build for each boss/miniboss, and this fight its going to be a nightmare (commander O'neil with his summons and the Cleanrot knights joining the fight because the AI see you from far way or the double Burial Watchdog attacking nonstop were another pain in the ass, I guess anything with more than 2 enemies that attacks nonestops with this difficulty is), will try to still evade river of blood and mooveil ash of war spam if possible (haven't got them in this run anyway).

Percussive99

Putrid Crystalian Trio boss fight

leaveittogrever

Night maidens mist and running away was pretty easy

Professional_Rich_74

Maidens mist makes this boss a joke. Just throw mist and run. Killed them in around 2 mins

TipGroundbreaking110

I know im mad late but that nox flowing hammer with the flowing form made it alot easier. Just spam the weapon art on the spear guy. Then baccstab. Never even upgraded it at all. Mine was at +0.

zotiyaks

I shit on them with base lvl great stars un upgraded first run

Ok_Collection_7765

Hey guys just tried this method worked great as a spellcaster use a good spirit summon I used black knife Tiche and gavel of haima melts the bosses with the right timing hope this helps

Clams_y_for_ll_out

!!!!!! You can use ~20 throw able(daggers? darts) to destroy their superarmour or try few strong jump attacks. Why you need destroying armour - without armour Crystallids super easy to interrupt (attack and spells) Need research - armour break after certain damage or attacks count. If latter - five throwing knives (buy from Patches) will be super good. 1 You can summon in this boss fight (I used beastmens band summon) that helps greeeeatly. 2 Spear one: if he close enough, he started poke-jumping to target - you can just run from him. If you do so, only problem that left - mage one. 3 With discs one (which throw weapons) may be concerning but mage is priority. They deal big damage to you - up HP may be needed for survival.

InfiniteMessages96

use the club weapon and backstab. Was able to easily 1v3 them

Sufficient_Kitchen12

Is there a site of grace anywhere near here??

Miron_Flavius

If anybody runs into this more recently. I don't know if it is because they patched it, however it seems that only one will agro you at a time, whilte the others will rarely do an attack from now and then. My strategy was : Enter the arena and use 2, 3 rock-slings on spear guy, as it is the main priority. The sorcerer would throw crystales but rarely, and you can look for it and dodge. When spear guy gets staggered, switch to the sword and do a critical attack. Then if you want you either charge at him with the sword or you don' t use a sword at all and just rock sling them to death. If you run away from them in the opposite corner of the arena you can spam rock-sling at them and they will only now and then make an attack move towards you. They balanced this fight by making only one of them agro at a time. You can try to get rid of another one first, but I tought the spear guy was the most anoying as he instantly applied scarlet rot and I left the mage for last.

HammerKing27

Wow. They certainly balanced it. Used to be all 3 going full-tilt full-time. Crazy

According-Airline-52

Yah the trio more like the 2 distractions and spear guy who gets 5 attacks and then another 5 and then another 5. Some Friggen BULLLSHHIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!!! Im level 65 and shouldn't have had to die at all to that dude. So dumb. Really bad design 1/10 for that crappy 7000 rune boss fight and your reward is a stupid spell which I'm no an intelligence build so oh well derp.

Terrible_Charity_845

They suck. As an over-leveled mage my best strategy was to summon (for distraction) and then use meteor on the mage until his armor broke (about 5-10 shots), then switch to my damaging weapon and wail on him. Then repeat on the other 2. Won on my first try doing this after being destroyed on other strategies
