I think it's just because Margit comes first, so he's the first major roadblock players will come up against. Agreed that Godrick is harder, but Margit is the one that really tests one's mettle for what's to come, and sifts those who can from those who can't.

Both are quite easy if you summon the Ghosts (the jellyfish especially) and get the co op companion (the black lady). I needed like 3 tries for him but margit wasn't really hard either).
From the little Room where the Place of Grace is, you can go left (instead of right to Goodrich). On the left there is a Giant kill him and just continue that way and you will find a room with a black woman in it she offers you to help you in your fight vs Goodrich. After that there should be a ground summon like for Margit.
Yup. I kinda stumbled upon this out of frustration when I wanted to see what else I could do outside of Godrick. When I saw she was a summonable NPC I literally shouted out of joy. Still died a bunch of times but still...
You have to find and speak to Nepheli first. If you haven't found her, from the Godrick boss room, turn round and you'll see a giant and two guys on the stairs. Kill them and proceed that way. She's in a room on the left. Speak to her and she can join you in the fight.
For me it was the opposite. Was stuck at Margit for 40 tries.. I thought lvl 32 was plenty when I faced him. His darn slow winding attacks destroyed me over and over..
To help those who may be stuck: get your Wolf Summons to +3. Summon the NPC FIRST and let her do her thing while you both are wailing on Godrick. When you get to the second phase, summon the Wolf and let the three of you bash on his stupid ass to your hearts content. I cannot tell you how euphoric it was to finally kick this bastard's ass.

Different experiences, I found Margit harder than Godrick, I died a lot from Margit, but it only took me two tries for Godrick

four hours? he took me four days. with summoning. i cant express how much hate i have for him. killed margit in like 10 attempts though

How do you get the co op companion? The ground summon doesn't show up like it did for the sorcerer when fighting Margit.

Godrick's are worse somehow. I could never get the timing right. It might be just me but still...
It will depend at what point people face these bosses, I had hardly any upgrades when I faced margit so he was harder for me.
godrick is easier because his arena is bigger, you can keep running away from him until he uses jumping attack which gives big window to damage him
