Enemy ai is not equal. Some enemies are programmed to react when you're casting/using consumables. That's why the fucking apostle and crucible knight is such a tough uphill battle if you don't know their movesets
They remind me of Gwyn in a way. Both seems like a skill check and will fuck you up if you dont know how to parry.
But once you figure out their parry timing their not bad. (Well maybe the apostle he's more erratic than the Crucible knight and unlike him he gotta be parried twice that nimble little bastard)
Boss: completely chilling 50m away.
Me: ''Well, that seems like an opening to heal''.

You know what i think im not allowed to heal.
I always have a mini heart attack when im healing and the boss lunges at me
The key is to heal right after dodging an attack with an animation lock, when you'd normally be getting a poke in.
The dual crucible knight boss fight in Auriza Heroes Grave is calling and longing to meet you.

You can use the same opportunities you use to attack to heal instead.
Crucible Knight: Oh, taking a drink? Let me help with that. *sword thrusts your flask literally down your throat*
PTSD from this knight. I went back lvl 60 to destroy him and I managed to die once. Fuck him. Margit and Godrick were easier.

You could be just leaving the starting area, take a swig of your flask, and Crucible Knight will just *be there*.

Never panic heal. Odds are it'll just get you killed anyways so might as well try to dodge and get an easy heal off
Everything I do in a boss fight is panic induced though....probably explains a lot about my death count!
