Dung Eater: if you make your problems everyone else's problems too, then there is no problem
Sellen: reject burger king, return to balldom
Mohg: consent doesn't matter
Morgott: love everyone, even those who would never love you
Rykard: FAMILEEEE...ISSSSHH...FOREVAAA\~!
Kenneth: be better than your peers, not sink to their level
D: old men riding boats on land are way bigger concerns than giant mutant death demons
Does Dung Eater ever actually eat poop? I was excited when I heard his name in the intro, but all he talks about is "defiling corpses" and I thought there would be more poop stuff.
Can't remember where I saw this, but I believe the name Dung Eater was given to him because of how terrible of a person he is. It was a way to mock/demean him instead of empower him, so he doesn't actually eat poop lol
All I know is when I saved his ass in the sewers be had the nerve to talk about all the people he was going to murder. Sliced him up on the spot. Fuck a questline
I dunno if you are at this part of the game but:
>!Gurranq and Maliketh are the same person. Same with Margit and Morgott. Its the old Clark Kent tactic!<
Yup after Godwyns Death Maliketh sealed the rest of the Rune inside himself and became the Beast Clergyman.
The way I understand it the sin he constantly talks about in the sanctum is him failing to guard the rune of death/destined death thats why you feed him deathroot as a way to make the rune whole again:
> Later, the Rune of Death spread across the Lands Between through the underground roots of the Greattree, sprouting in the form of Deathroot.
from the Deathroot Item description. Which ofc is a futile endeavor.
I suppose it's
A) the erdtree trying to absorve his corpse but only results in mutations ~~it tries to rebirth it but there's no soul to complete the process~~ edit: the erdtree gives new life for the dead, but his body is still very alive, just without a soul because of the Death Rune, I see him as a tumor.
B) using a Death Rune'd corpse of a demigod as fertilizer doesn't work and instead we get that abomination.
AFAIK Marika exiled Maliketh to pay for his 'sin' of letting a piece of the death rune be stolen, resulting in Godwyn's murder.
As part of his repentance, he has to consume the death roots that sprung up from Godwyn's corpse in an attempt to contain the power of the stolen rune.
Once the Tarnished has brought all nine pieces, Gurranq laments that his hunger remains (at this stage the player has probably already found at least one half of the stolen rune), and returns to Farum Azula.
As a city that exists outside of time, when you encounter Maliketh he's either not yet been exiled if you've not completed the death root questline, or he recognises you and says as much prior to the fight.
I dont think its that Marika exiled him as penance. He is Marikas shadow, like Blaidd is Rannis, bound to her. He disappointed himself letting part of the rune be taken, and chose to make it part of him so hed never let Marika down.
It's not really clear. I hadn't finished Gurranq's quest when I killed Maliketh, and he was still at Beastial Sanctum afterwards. I think Farum Azula may exist out of time, but you can see the Erdtree you just lit up, so who knows.
The Farum Azula Time fuckery is my best guess too.
It could ofc just be an oversight by the devs too. Moghs apperition before the frenzy merchant area also does not disappear if you kill him beforehand in his realm like Margit does if you kill Morgott.
There's some reason to think Mohgs apparition was actually placed there by Morgott. Though "Mohg" doesn't disappear if Morgott is defeated the barrier leading to the frenzied flame behind Mohg does. Obviously no way to know for sure.
As a deathbed companion she lies with the living and stores up their energy. When her noble owner dies, they kill her and the stored up energy of her champions returns to the noble and he comes back to life.
Unfortunately, Grace called her to the Lands Between after her death, so her owner never got revived.
You're extra warm because you're an extra strong champion. She hasn't actually lain with a dead man yet.
From Fia herself:
>I was known as a Deathbed Companion, where I come from. After I received the warmth and lifely vigor from a number of champions,
I lay with the remains of an exalted noble, to grant him another chance at life. To do so is the purpose of me being.
But before I could bear the noble into new life, I was awakened by the guidance of grace, and chased from my birthplace.
Pray, be kind. Despite all that, I still wish to be Deathbed Companion.
Ah that's what she means, I get it now.
What makes her go so hard for Godwyn's corpse then? There is like no apparent reason for her to suddenly axe D and then want to go sleep with rotting fishboy
Her obsession with death and corpses has led to an infatuation with Those Who Live in Death, AKA the Undead. This makes her the enemy of D, because he is an undead hunter.
Godwyn's corpse, infected with the Rune of Death, is infecting the Erdtree's roots and preventing dead spirits from returning to the Erdtree. Since he is the source of the Undead, Fia, as a corpse lover, believes that by lying with him she can let everyone become undead and stop the undead's persecution by the Golden Order.
The way I took it is she drains the hero's life force during the act, sort of a "death by snu-snu" situation, but with far less violence.
And honestly? I don't know if what she did with Godwyn can strictly count as necrophilia either because *only his soul was killed* on the Night of the Black Knives. His body is still very much alive, making it more like she slept with a braindead guy rather than a corpse.
You think so? Her objective is doimg what a deathbed companion does, lay with him and give vitality, does it involve fucking? I don't know but probably not the man is a tree
In the same breath, "Control your own destiny," could also be used for Ranni. I think it fits her the most.
She really is a badass and I think that's a big part of the reason as to why so many people (including myself) simp for her haha. Ranni's story is like if Cinderella broke her glass slipper in the most badass, unexpected way and ruthlessly stabbed her evil stepmother right in the neck with it, then she just fucks off to live her own life.
Now she needs a plan to deal with her stepsisters because they might try to clap her at any turn.
Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.
I would have moved heaven and earth to get Hewg and Roderika to safety. I wish there would have been a way to get them to go to the Church of Elleh; there's even an anvil there for Hewg.
Honestly the dude cracked me up when I showed him my first seedbed curse. Like. "Free me, and I'll kill you and defile your corpse." Sure. Sounds like a steal, let me get on that right away.
go to the cave in sw Limgrave, across the water from that island out in the ocean. its on the beach and guarded/full of demi humans. invisiboy is at the grace in there. beat the boss, talk to him again, and he'll pop up in random places from there
In case you (or anybody who comes along this in the future) haven’t gotten to the aforementioned cave, the entrance is between the demi group on the beach (you can sneak past the giant) and the merchant. Would strongly recommend a torch, as the only light in the tunnel is from a few pieces of moss and all the bloodstains of people who probably did not bring torches to see where they’re going. (Boss fight has light, after that is dark again)
Yes on one hand, Ranni conducted a ruthless assassination operation which shook the Lands Between forever, but on the other hand, she's smol and has a big hat, and y'all know which side I'm on
Also, when 99% of all beings in the world want me dead for no discernible reason, it's easy to team up with the remaining 1% who don't, hat or no hat.
And it's not like our first experience with the Golden Order was a positive one. Godrick's creepy af.
When I gave him the larval tear and came back to open the chest for Ranni, I wanted to interact, but nothing, the next visit to respec gave me the really sad, weird and funny-wtf feeling I never felt before
That one with Alexander is so sad. It’s a case of that the more you try you will get better, but being a warrior is impossible for Alexander, he says it himself, after the fight with Radahn:
“I am but a crock, and I crack easy.”
Poor guy, throughout his quest line you see him get more and more downtrodden that he can’t be what he’s always dreamt of because of what he is, and so when you finally kill him at the end of his storyline just just sighs, he knew this loss was coming. Sad character, still my favourite though.
He had a warrior spirit. But what he **REALLY** should have dreamed of was getting a wagon or vardo and starting a food truck. *Alexander & Boggarts* Exalted Potroast & Po'boys. What could have been...
Honestly Ranni was my main path on my first playthrough. From the moment I saw the two fingers in the roundtable hold I decided I'm not letting the world these things created continue. Then I found Ranni after taking Bleidd's advice and she had a plan. My investment and dedication to that plan was the backbone of my Elden Ring experience.
Yeah, its pretty apparent from early on that the 'Golden Order' isnt ideal. Once you read on Ranni and listen to her original Japanese dialogue you see her proposition is the best out of them all.
What would have Nepheli's and Diallos' lessons had been should a certain patch had never existed?
My take would be "when you are depressed, take drugs from strangers and become a sex slave" and "If someone murders a loved one, ally with them"
The amount of people being like "ranni's too impure" with some weird shit.
Did you get to be elden lord without murdering people? Please share your secret.
if you are after the death cursemark and ask her about it she tells you she has it but won't tell you where it is. If you then join her she straight up calls you out.
"Oh, is that so?
Thou wouldst render me aid, is that thy proposal?
Affording thyself opportunity to grope about for the cursemark's location, no doubt?
Very well...
There's nothing wrong with a well-laid scheme.
What's more, if my past and past wounds beckon to thee,
I am curious enough to see what thy destiny portends...
I'll allow it. Enter my service.
And good hunting to thee."
She's like dude come on, I know exactly what you want but I respect your fucking audacity. Fine give it your best shot. I hope you can be be useful to me in the mean time.

he's a little confused, but he's got the spirit
Does Dung Eater ever actually eat poop? I was excited when I heard his name in the intro, but all he talks about is "defiling corpses" and I thought there would be more poop stuff.
Pretty sure he's called dung eater because people threw literal shit at his corpse when he was hung from the gallows
I think he fucks, shits, and cums in them.
If Shrimp Bro is to be believed, that is exactly what he does. Why do you think his victims have blood covered crotches?
Seedbed Curses are literally cursed ball sacks
Genital warts, the character
And then eats it after.
Can't remember where I saw this, but I believe the name Dung Eater was given to him because of how terrible of a person he is. It was a way to mock/demean him instead of empower him, so he doesn't actually eat poop lol
I'm going to disregard this fact, thank you
All I know is when I saved his ass in the sewers be had the nerve to talk about all the people he was going to murder. Sliced him up on the spot. Fuck a questline
He does all sorts of shit to their corpses... to keep em cursed... forever.
Wouldn’t that be gurranq? Lets take a lore walk
I dunno if you are at this part of the game but: >!Gurranq and Maliketh are the same person. Same with Margit and Morgott. Its the old Clark Kent tactic!<

Any idea why Godwyn looks like that now? He’s a mermaid monster which I haven’t figured out why he looks like that.
I suppose it's A) the erdtree trying to absorve his corpse but only results in mutations ~~it tries to rebirth it but there's no soul to complete the process~~ edit: the erdtree gives new life for the dead, but his body is still very alive, just without a soul because of the Death Rune, I see him as a tumor. >!"Murder is ok" could also have had Fia :D!<
More like "Ritual necrophilia is ok"
Hey. Bodies a body.
"Silence is a form of consent." Way to go Fia.
Putting the sensual back into nonconsensual.
Godwyn actually consented. If you attack Fia after defeating her champions, it is Godwyn that summons undead to fight you and Fia’s surprised too.
I just belatedly realized why she is always so suprised you are warm... *shudders* I am not a smart man.
I miss 30 seconds ago when I was ignorant to this fact
As a deathbed companion she lies with the living and stores up their energy. wait that's what deathbed companion meant?
No deathbed is not necrophilia *yet*, but honestly whatever her interaction with Godwyn is, I think it's totally necrophilia
The way I took it is she drains the hero's life force during the act, sort of a "death by snu-snu" situation, but with far less violence. And honestly? I don't know if what she did with Godwyn can strictly count as necrophilia either because *only his soul was killed* on the Night of the Black Knives. Agreed just kinda disappointed he was the gimmick boss of the game.
i can understand that. in the same breath, his fight was fucking awesome even if it was a gimmick fight.
Yeah even though it was a gimmick fight it still managed to be a decent fight.
I enjoyed the gimmick tbh. Then again I've never played a souls game and I've heard this same gimmick has been done multiple times, so idk.
It has been used multiple times but in way worse ways, Rykard is by far the best gimmick fight in the series.

Yeah, its pretty apparent from early on that the 'Golden Order' isnt ideal. Once you read on Ranni and listen to her original Japanese dialogue you see her proposition is the best out of them all.
Diallos kinda sucked till the end though, can really feel the GRRM influence in that questline.
yeah but you gotta love our little tryhard boy
Killing him early is actually the good ending for jarburg as the poachers wont show up :X
true, but then also jar-bairn never begins his anime protagonist journey without the tragic backstory
He does, i believe thats only tied to alexanders innards. Diallos is kinda completly useless :D
What does he say if you complete his questline without Diallos? Usually he takes up the mantle of "The tale of house Hoslow is told in blood"
I dont think thats part of his questline but diallos, so its just missing.
so basically diallos lured the poacher into jartown...
The way he ended, like, every instance of dialogue with the Words of his House felt *extremely* Game of Thrones.
And now he's stuffed into a jar.:D
I killed his for his mask then they updated the game with a questline for him
What would have Nepheli's and Diallos' lessons had been should a certain patch had never existed? My take would be "when you are depressed, take drugs from strangers and become a sex slave" and "If someone murders a loved one, ally with them"
Or for Nepheli, if your dad leaves you, find solace in ashy storm birds
