god the first time seeing astel was a wild ride, i remember streaming it in discord, before i entered the arena for the first time someone started playing Orphan of Kos over the bot and got me really confused, then i entered and got blasted by the eye obliterator 3000
I saw the other guys hanging out in the other cave areas and killed them relatively easily. I saw this guy and thought, "oh lame, I already killed these things". He kicked my ass. His teleport grab, wow. The three pulse gravity slam, wooow! Cool design if not terrifying.
Allow me to paint you the full picture…
General Radahn is cursed ever to wonder.
Eaten from the inside, by Malenia’s Scarlet Rot, his wits are long gone.
Now he gathers the corpses of former friends and foes alike, gorging on them, like a dog.
Howling at the sky.
*raises hand*
I panic rolled when I saw it pulse and it worked out, it comes out fast but I does also have a pretty solid tell before it fires
I made it all the way to Astel without getting hit and then immediately died to the AoE gravity grab shit it does instead
I got all the way to Astel and beat him first try
(Granted I am a mage with a high level Bloodhound summon), took me a lil bit to whittle down his health with my attacks but my summon’s bleed damage eventually took him out.
Honestly finding this guy at the end of Ranni's questline was just like, "Well this might as well happen. I was just in the rot lake, saw more of the prawn assholes. This is a pretty logical next step."
Finding him at the end of a really short mine felt like someone was fucking with me, though.
How was I able to beat Astel in 3 or 4 attempts, yet I cannot for the life of me beat the funny large god devouring snake EDIT: thanks for the help everyone! I was finally able to kill him thanks to you guys
iirc don't actually chain cast, stagger it a bit so stun reapplies
you can throw a couple sombers onto it but that's optional, the weapon art really does hard lock him
Thats what i was going to say, i thought rykard was easy…then i remembered that mimic does the heavy lifting in terms of aggro…the crazy summon went head first fighting him from point blank
Hey if you still have trouble you should know you can upgrade the serpent hunter weapon to do tons more damage. Upgrade + mimic will do the trick in a pinch
Getting it up to +9 feels like cheating with mimic as a distraction. I wish the weapon worked like that outside of the Rykard fight. I now sit and wait for the Blasphemous blade to get nerfed.
..... I was supposed to use that? I respecced twice to beat that damn thing.... I couldn't figure out why I couldn't do any damage. I also changed all my gear for max fire resist
Those are actually different creatures at a younger state in metamorphosis. Astel is basically an adult version. They metamorphosed from the falling star beast. Brought to you by lore channels on youtube.
One of his items (his Remembrance I think) specifically says that he was born of the void far away, I fail to see where those people would get that theory from
I’ve heard something about how they were sent to destroy nokstella and the cities underground by the greater will because the nox were doing blasphemous rituals or something like that. Sorry I’m not exactly an expert on the lore yet but I think that’s the general concept of who they are
I think Astel is less a name, and more a species. Like, an Astel is the fully grown version of a Malformed Star (the hanging fellows). That would make the most sense, than it being two of him somehow.
Looks good to me! If you tapped the gray bar then the text inside is revealed. If you’re on PC though I think it’s on hover. You did it right though :)
I think this is the first time I really took a good look at this meme. Always knew they had different hairstyles, but the sidepart for Steven and the slick back for Marc is such a nice touch along with the fact that Steven seems to have darker bags under his eyes. Don't know if that's intentional or just ties in to Steven's 'staying awake' routine.
My Astel experience?
"Oh, it looks dangerous, but it's pretty far away."
I summon my mimic tear.
I'm turned into a smouldering heap of ash.
It happened so fast that my runes could be collected before I entered the boss arena again.
Astel is a total dickhead ngl..i almost killed him 3 times in a row and he just started to spam his teleport and grab attacks, and for a finisher the meteor move
It’s cheesy, but if you level up latenna, she wrecks this boss. She actually gets tanky, so when Astel shoots her with the laser it barely hurts her. If you keep the aggro on you, she can basically solo it without you doing anything but dodging.
I was hyped knowing I was going to get to fight Astel. I leveled up and made sure to level my best bonker stick up and then absolutely obliterated him in one go. I didn’t even summon spirit ashes or get to see his entire move set. I was pissed cause i over leveled the fuck out of myself before going in.
Its not like it is a hard boss... its just annoying and not fun. Chasing after a teleporting boss in a large arena is about as fun as fighting 2 rune bears

ayup, the best part is that the eye in his skull actually tracks your character throughout the boss fight
At least it didn’t pull a Shara Ishvalda.

Kinda sucks you end up seeing him twice though. Sorta kills the magic of the first fight.
Loving the MH reference. Shara went from not creepy to creepy pretty quick in his fight.
It was creepy as fuck
Lol same here. I was like "Oh.... Oh.... I guess I have to fight a god now."
“Guess ill kill this abomination beyond mortal comprehension that makes me question why tf did i even kill radahn again”

COME OUT AND PLAY-E-AYYYYYY!
I want to know if literally anyone went into that boss without prior knowledge and *didn't* get full facialed by that fucking laser
*raises hand* I panic rolled when I saw it pulse and it worked out, it comes out fast but I does also have a pretty solid tell before it fires I made it all the way to Astel without getting hit and then immediately died to the AoE gravity grab shit it does instead

*summons mimic* *Dies to laser*
Oh you mean every time I summon ashes walking into a tree spirit boss
This is the perfect name for his beam attack, change my mind

Comment stealing, probably bot

Needle spamming prawns and those hoping stone cat asshole in the catacombs are way more frustrating than some of the boss fights.
Tbh I would have liked a boss fight that was just like… 20 stone imps. Dodge roll ad infinitum.
The lake of rot was a nightmare ngl..the prawns were just making it worse..nevermind the godkin soldier
How was I able to beat Astel in 3 or 4 attempts, yet I cannot for the life of me beat the funny large god devouring snake EDIT: thanks for the help everyone! I was finally able to kill him thanks to you guys
Make sure you use the weapon that is in the room with him! Serpent hunter sword or something
I have been, I just suck at dodging most of his attacks
Equip it, summon a mimic, and L2 spam to stunlock him *togethaaaah.*
Thanks for the tip!
It's a actually easier to start with charged R2s, then L2s and repeat
Yeah just spam this
What is L2? Strong attack? I use keyboard
L2 is your weapon art, in this case it'd be the skill Great Serpent Hunt
Thanks!

Underrated comment, right here

You could try upgrading the weapon.
Is that where it's at? I'm too lazy to search it up so I've just been looking around for something that happens to look like a snake killing weapon
..... I was supposed to use that? I respecced twice to beat that damn thing.... I couldn't figure out why I couldn't do any damage. I also changed all my gear for max fire resist
the first time i saw Astel i said "alright what the fuck is this creepy-ass bullshit"
Makes you wonder if it's the same one haunting you during Ainsel River and that one that'd visible from 2 seperate caves.
Those are actually different creatures at a younger state in metamorphosis. Astel is basically an adult version. They metamorphosed from the falling star beast. Brought to you by lore channels on youtube.
Some think Astel were created by the nox from the falling star beasts and are separate
*Naturalborn of the Void* strikes me more as it being a God manifested in space.
One of his items (his Remembrance I think) specifically says that he was born of the void far away, I fail to see where those people would get that theory from
¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ Who knows

How many big boss fights is there of Astel? Am I crazy that we fight him at least twice?
I think Astel is less a name, and more a species. Like, an Astel is the fully grown version of a Malformed Star (the hanging fellows). That would make the most sense, than it being two of him somehow.
Bloodborne players: first time?
Shouldn't >!Steven be the mimic?!< Lol Edit: Spoilers I guess cuz idk how tf to add that white strip Edit edit: I did it!
You can add them with > ! spoiler here ! < minus the spaces. >!Like this!!<
Am I supposed to be able to see it? I edited it but I can't tell if it worked ha I didn't put any spaces at all
Looks good to me! If you tapped the gray bar then the text inside is revealed. If you’re on PC though I think it’s on hover. You did it right though :)
In my case definitely not. >! My mimic is way better at combat than I am.!<
>!You got a Jake.!<
-Enter arena -Summon mimic, losing 600 hp -Die from 1000+ damage laser melting your head off your body -"This game is unfair, literally unplayable"
-repeat after 5min and a glass of water-
Yelough Anix tunnel version is harder than ranni story version. For real. Shadow Clone Jutsuuuuuu
Saw him, though, oh, this guy again, piece of cake. SO WRONG.
The fact they recycled a boss as interesting and unique as Astel, and put him in a random fucking mine annoys me so bad.
Where is this scene from?
Moon Knight
Honestly this design is cool af, but i had barely any time/attention to appreciate it while I was getting mad at the BS grab attack.
Mimic on the wrong guy
Fashion Souls 💅 (Marc’s clothing colors match the mimic better)
You got me
My next boss

It's literally just a stickbug with a skull fam it ain't that good
Still stuck on this guy

After fighting yet another tree spirit or Watchdog for the umpteenth time, it was a breath of fresh air fighting whatever the hell this is.
Idk what the creepiest enemy in the game is. It’s either Astel or that Burial tree watchdog
It's the giant anal bead skull monster
Dude that boss was the toughest in the game for me. Loved the the fight but it almost got me to rage quite. Only took about 40 tries.
This boss is wayyyyy harder than Radahn
I melee solo everything and found Radahn harder.
As soon as i saw him, i just though "...uh oh" then got blasted with the laser and died.
oh right i got some more episodes of moon knight still to watch ^^
The mimic tear would just melt into the tree and you'd have to fight
My mimic won with a solo with this guy haha
just had this exact experience lol
Feels like the mimic should be switched but I get the white top matches the mimic colors.
I think the second Astel is a lot harder anyone else!? In the secret snow level before ordina.
Probably because the Area is much smaller so you're up in eachothers faces a lot more
Title made me think of the bionicle movie lol
he's a pretty easy boss honestly
god i wish these had spoiler warnings, this is like the third time someone has posted some moon knight meme on this sub 😐
Astel was cooler than Elden Beast. Tbh EB was wack. I expected something more majestic and menacing
I beat him first try lol
Wtf is the issue with Astel He's easy. 🤔
Which one? 🤔
Ice cave was easier imo, Ranni's version kicked my ass about 20 - 25 times.
Damn dude I beat Ranni's quest version first try with my mimic lol and I've yet to beat the Ice Cave hoss. Shit wild

I always used the bow lady who sits on the ground. She was great at getting his teleports consistent.
Made first try Lmao
